These are flashable zips via recovery, tested by myself and working on ViperXL 4.1..0
As always remember your backup in case something goes wrong!
If your rom has other names than bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip you need to extract the 2 files
and rename respectively to i.e. hTC_bootup_one.zip and hTC_downanimation.zip, use a root file explorer
to copy renamed files to system\customize\resource and reboot... enjoy

I checked out CleanROM and it has other file names for animations as mentioned above.
Made a new flashable zip via recovery with renamed files so it should work on CleanROM
Download here
MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH THE ZIP!! ..... haven't tried it myself as on different rom but should work!
Let us know!
I already did it.....it is working flawlesly
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
Works like a charm, i like the red one :good:
Edit , i rename it and ir work great thanks men
Using a root file explorer check under system\customize\resource to see how animation zip files are named in your rom.
for UP bootanimation.zip or hTC_bootup_one.zip
DOWN downanimation.zip or hTC_downanimation.zip
When I get a chance I'll add new zips with other names in OP!
Soooo dope man

Very nice indeed. Im on viperxl 4.2 and before the sense 5 viper i was using elementalx kernel. For some reason the splash for elementalx stays even after flashing this. Ive had this problem of not being able to remove this but until now i didnt mind it. So when i boot up i first see elementalx splash then it goes to this htc blue splash. Is there a file i can delete manually to remove elementalx splash so i dont have both. Ive flashed at least ten roms and elem. Splash stays . Ive looked in etc file but found nothing. Lol i know its a easy fix if some one could point me in right direction thx.....(found no google info on it or in xda forums)

Well I believe you need to change your "splash" screen which is different from the boot animation. The splash screen is the first one to show when phone is turned on/rebooted and usually non-animated, in my case it is the white background "htc quietly brilliant" and after s-off with red text "this build is for development purposes only...". Splash screen is flashed through hboot, which you must have flashed at some point. As for boot animation which comes after splash screen like the ones in this thread, is stored in internal storage, can even be changed with replacing the right exisiting file.
You can check these threads for further info on splash screen:

Just to be clear flashing splash (hboot) is a riskier process (bricking!) than flashing bootaniamtion!
I was planning anways on trying to make a matching blue splash (first timer!) if you prefer to wait!

First off this is a great boot/up/dwn. I used it on many roms with no issues until I updated to the latest magio Rom. What I found was in newer sense roms the name of animation has to be exactly hTC_bootup_one.zip and hTC_ downanimation.zip . You will need to rename them and delete the old boot animation manually or copy into the old file and delete old animation files within. Lol notice the lower case h and upper TC . The file names are case sensitive.

Srry file location is in /system/customize/resource. You will need to enable r/w in your file browser to modify file. Lots of people use es file explorer but to each his own

Hehe, we were all there at one point, no worries man! I'm still learning
Download the zip file, rename it "bootanimation.zip" and move it to your data\local folder (overwriting the exisiting one).
I believe it's a little different if you're on a stock rooted ROM tho.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much! Ya I'm using a stock rom so I'm going to have to move that elsewhere. I believe it was under system/customize/resource. I'm going to have to download this bad boy and find out!
We are all noobs in something or something else...
If you have the stock rom rename it ATT_bootanimation.zip and copy it in the folder system/customize/resource/
use ROOT EXPLORER and when you are in the folder above just push the Mount R/W button before you paste it...
And you should be all set...

800x480 means that the larger side is the base??
(sorry i don't know how the EVO works...)
If the res is 480x800 (shorter side as base) than it'll work just fine..
Very nice. Clean and subtle.
I am running android revolution rom, can i not just install zip from sd in recovery and do it?
Is there any way to modify this bootanimation so that the "quietly rooted" screen stays on until the lockscreen/OS show? On CM7, I get a black screen almost immediately after the "quietly rooted" text shows up, and then a few seconds later the lockscreen appears. I've started using the Android Scribble bootanimation for the time being, but I really prefer this one. Thanks in advance!
Im loving this boot animation. Thanks
Love it. +1. But, because I also love the brilliant boot animation of TPC's optimized stock ROM, I ended up extracting the last frame from the zip and installing it as my splash screen, which works great.
I would like to add "with TPC optimized stock ROM" or some other language to the image, but can't quite match the "quietly rooted" font. Can you please tell me what font it is?
Mucho thanks.
Well actually it isn't a font. "quietly brilliant" is really handwritten... I recreate the letters for "rooted" using the ones in the original line as models... what you ask could be done but its quietly a pain in the butt.... lolol
I suggest you to use a complete different font an add it like a sort of tag underneath the qr line...

Yep; the animation works fine, it just cuts to a black screen for an extended period of time after the "Quietly Rooted" text shows before the lockscreen pops up.

Hello there! I am re-posting this from the Mytouch 3G thread which can be seen here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6507176#post6507176
I have made some slight modifications in order to make this work on the Evo Shift.
This is a Evo Shift tool to easily convert images in splash screen ones.
This tool is based upon ffmpeg and you need it installed on your system before proceeding (it will prompt you about the program missing in any case)
REQUIREMENTS
ffmpeg installed on your system
a 480x800 image
a 480x800 device (i.e. Evo Shift) with engineering SPL
USAGE
Code:
./ElegosSplashCreator.txt --help or -h
Prints out how to use the script
Make sure that the script and image you are converting are both in the same directory that you are in in the command line (Terminal)
Code:
./ElegosSplashCreator.txt your_image_file
Converts your image into a flashable splash screen, if you want the script will continue flashing the file directly.
I ASSUME NO RESPONSABILITY ABOUT THE USAGE OF THIS SCRIPT. USE IT "AS IS", LOOK AT THE OUTPUTS AND YOU'LL AVOID BRICKS!
Please, if you wish to redistribute this script, give the right credits and don't change the prog_header please (maybe link this discussion in a text file)!
Make ElegosSplashCreator.txt executable permissions (right click on file and go to Properties > Permissions, then make executable) and use it!
Here's mine, feel free to post your own folks
Flash these Splash Screens at your own risk. It is not my fault if you have a faulty usb cable or computer, or accidently unplug your phone while flashing! But the chance of a soft brick is very small
Fastboot images to flash in fastboot:
Here is a .zip attached below with all these splash screens ready to flash in fastboot with pics that match the names of each image to flash
How to flash: fastboot flash splash1 name.raw565

Two things:
First of all the pic that you attached needs to be 480x800 (the attached pic is 495x800). I know it's only 15 pixels, but it screws things up.
Second, for the life of me I can't figure out the script in the OP. I do my splash screens an entirely different way. Have you tried the script in the OP?
By the way, if you end up using this as a splash screen, don't forget to hit "Thanks"'

what I do is I put both the script and the pic in my home folder. That way when I open up terminal (command shell) I can run the script that way. The bottom of the OP shows how to run the script. He probably does not have linux set up or knows how to use it. It's common among a lot of android root users. That's why I posted mine to be flashable ready in a zip.

All extra skins, ATT VVM, books, wireless tether in data/app, so you can uninstall...
I have a question:
The last phone that I had (HTC Aria), all I needed to do was flash the ROMs through clockwork....no dealing with boot.img
Is this because the boot.img was included in the ROM zip for the Aria? What exactly does boot.img do? Will flashing a boot.img be required for ALL roms? is the boot.img rom-specific?
Thanks for all of your amazing work for this phone,
Mike

It's because they changed their bootloaders and because the phones are s-on (i just realized I put s-off in the OP). Boot.img is where the kernel and the kernel ramdisk are located, it is all important and in every ROM...
Until we have s-off, all ROMs likely will need to flash boot.img separately. there is a way of packaging up the bootimg into a PJ83IMG.zip, which goes onto your sdcard during flash, but these zip files can't be flashed via bootloader anymore, so, we're stuck...

Thanks for your prompt response! So just to clarify, once we gain s-off, both the rom and the boot.img will be in one flashable zip file flashable through clockwork , correct? Because my aria was s-off and the roms that I flashed had the kernels included... We also had flashable kernels

recovery is not ready for neither AT&T nor Rogers. Once it is ready, it will be for both versions, however only Rogers can flash it as of now as their bootloader is unlocked.

It won't. there seems to be something in the misc partition of the phone that prevents the recovery from booting up if the recovery is not signed properly. I understand that a developer is working on bypassing this, but it i snot available yet. Please don't mess around with recovery right now. It will be here soon...

Anyone pls?
Gesendet von meinem HTC One M8
Can these be dragged to system/customize/resource ? I know on the M7 thats all ya had to do ,plus change permissions. It looks like the stock ones are labeled hTC_bootup_one.zip and hTC_downanimation.zip
Also to install these I believe you need to be bootloader unlocked and rooted, but I could be wrong..can anyone clarify?

Of course you need to be rooted. But i'm not sure if i have to flash these through fastboot and how :/
Gesendet von meinem HTC One M8
So as nobody answers i had to think myself.
Could it be:
Code:
fastboot flash bootanimation.zip
and
Code:
fastboot flash splash.zip
Please, can anyone say if i´m right or not :/
why dont you just try what I posted since noone else is replying
Make nandroid
copy these to your SD card and rename accordingly
Drag and drop them to system/customize/resource
fix permissions
reboot
see if that works (thats how I used to do it on my M7)

Thanks for answering I think I didn't read your post completly and I saw yesterday that boot animations are in the path that you mentioned and not in system/media as I'm used to it
So I will try it

On My M8 GPe, it's still /system/media
Change the downloaded file name to bootanimation.zip
Set permissions RW-R-R
Make sure you save the original bootanimation (I usually add .bak to the original files)
It worked fine on my M8 GPe edition. Sense Version may still be at: /system/customize/resource
Thanks

This didn't seem to work for me. Side question: What's the difference between the bootanimation.zip vs the hTC_bootup_one.zip?

Its the same thing with different name. boot animations name is used for GPe ROMs and other for sense-based roms.
Set the permission to RW-R-R as mentioned in the previous post, you should be good to go. Alternately, you can find some other bootanimations under M8 themes section.
