This is the initial release of my ROM for the AT&T One X. It is based in the Asian RUU 1.88.707.2, with many mods, tweaks and enhancements (see features list below). My goal is to provide a smooth, reliable ROM you can use every day. Let me know what you think!
Steve
Features
Based on Asia RUU 1.88.707.2;
Deodexed, zipaligned, etc.;
Advanced Power Menu;
Landscape Rosie (my own, minimally recoded version);
Ultra smooth rosie mod (flattened widgets for faster/smoother scrolling);
Disabled 3-dot menu bar in fullscreen apps;
Recents key mapped to context menu, long-press home key for recents (more options soon);
Init.d support with my own blend o' tweaks;
Android graphics rendering disabled, all hardware GPU enabled;

ATT logo removed from status bar;
build.prop tweaks (hide adb icon, increase wifi & 3G speeds);
ATT VVM app;

Removed widgets and app shortcuts on homescreen at bootup, except weather clock, so you don't have to do it yourself;
Probably more I can't remember...
Known Issues
You need to tap the weather on home screen to set location;
You need to run SuperSu to update binary, and should set access to "grant" in settings if you are having issues with Root Explorer, etc.
ATT VVM not working w/o APN change (duhhhhh....). Will be fixed in upcoming release.
To Do/Coming Soon
Tweaks app;
AROMA Installer;
more...
Installation Instructions

Download zip and place on sdcard;
Perform a factory reset in recovery;

WARNING

Changelog

- Initial Release

[ROM][BETA](5/9/12) Magnolia X 1.0 |AT&T 1.1.73.502.1| Simple, Stable (?), Smooth (?)
Removed Apps
All Asia bloat
HTC Watch
Google Music (I hate this, and you can get from market)
All extra skins, ATT VVM, books, wireless tether in data/app, so you can uninstall...

I have a question:
The last phone that I had (HTC Aria), all I needed to do was flash the ROMs through clockwork....no dealing with boot.img
Is this because the boot.img was included in the ROM zip for the Aria? What exactly does boot.img do? Will flashing a boot.img be required for ALL roms? is the boot.img rom-specific?
Thanks for all of your amazing work for this phone,
Mike

It's because they changed their bootloaders and because the phones are s-on (i just realized I put s-off in the OP). Boot.img is where the kernel and the kernel ramdisk are located, it is all important and in every ROM...
Until we have s-off, all ROMs likely will need to flash boot.img separately. there is a way of packaging up the bootimg into a PJ83IMG.zip, which goes onto your sdcard during flash, but these zip files can't be flashed via bootloader anymore, so, we're stuck...

Thanks for your prompt response! So just to clarify, once we gain s-off, both the rom and the boot.img will be in one flashable zip file flashable through clockwork , correct? Because my aria was s-off and the roms that I flashed had the kernels included... We also had flashable kernels

recovery is not ready for neither AT&T nor Rogers. Once it is ready, it will be for both versions, however only Rogers can flash it as of now as their bootloader is unlocked.

It won't. there seems to be something in the misc partition of the phone that prevents the recovery from booting up if the recovery is not signed properly. I understand that a developer is working on bypassing this, but it i snot available yet. Please don't mess around with recovery right now. It will be here soon...

[MOD] Advanced Power Menu - 4.53/4.54/4.67/5.07 OTA Based Roms - 07/03/12

Greetings Everyone,
I wanted to add a few more options to the Power Menu after having added the Reboot Mod. Also I realized the Restart option that was originally listed was a duplication of an option in the pop up reboot menu, so I took it out. With that said, here are some new additions to the power menu.
For those of you who just want to add a reboot menu option, please go to this link: 4 in 1 Reboot Mod
Advanced Power Menu
Power Off
Reboot (contains Normal Reboot, Hot Restart, Bootloader, Recovery)
Silent Mode
Vibration Mode
Airplane Mode
Mobile Network
Files
4.53 OTA - AdvPowerMenu-4.53_signed.zip
4.54 OTA - AdvPowerMenu-4.53_signed.zip
4.67 OTA - AdvPowerMenu-4.67_signed.zip
5.07 OTA - AdvPowerMenu-5.07_signed.zip
Diff File - APM467-Diff.txt
*note 5.07 has different string.xml id for reboot string
What is needed for this to work.
A DeOdexed OTA based rom
A recovery that flashes edify scripts.
Note
Please check with your rom's developer to see if he/she has made any modifications to the android.policy.jar ... if they haven't and you haven't added any custom modifications that override this file you should be all set..
Update Log
10-21-11 - Initial Post of Advanced Power Menu
2-12-12 - Updated to 4.67 and included diff file (modified file android.policy.jar)
7-3-12 - Updated to 5.07 using deodexed version of Captain_Throwbacks Rom

Good job homie!!!
tapatalk signature here. lovely.
Thank you... This was once again reenabling what was already there..
I never understood HTC for disabling options that were in the base code to start with, except if they wanted the evo stock to look and act less than that it could have become just to get us to buy the newer phones.
I just added this to my EVO and I LOVE it!!!! I'm gladly giving a donation for this one.

I'm still new to rooting so please forgive my ignorance on the subject. I was running Synergy for about a month, but it became unstable and a lot of my apps just stopped working. I ended up going back to my stock backup (which sucks because battery life is pitiful). I miss having these options and would like to get them back. Since I am on stock and I am assuming that means it's Odexed, what would happen if I were to try and flash this?

[ROM][12-7]TPC v3 2.3.5 | Da_G OC Kernel | IMG Flash | ATT | Rogers |

This ROM is based on the official Rogers Stock ROM, and has been optimized for both AT&T and Rogers users. It will wipe your data so be sure and do a nandroid backup before you flash. This ROM uses a new method to flash, it flashes a complete system.img.ext4 to the system partition...similar to an ODIN flash but without tripping the flash counter. The IMG file is modified from the original stock with all permissions preserved which should provide you with a ROM as stable as Stock Odin Flash and with all speed/features of a custom ROM. Special thanks to Da_G for all his help with the ROM, and providing us with a great custom kernel You should have a stable, fast, reliable ROM suitable for everyday use with this release.
changelog for v3
--added bootanimation...if you dont like mine you can get the ics one here. or stock sgs2 here
--added blue circle battery
--used completely new flashing method, for the ultimate in speed, stability, battery life.
--changed "favourites" to "favorites" in contacts menu(att version)
--added Rogers version for all you Canadians
--added Da_G's kernel, you can OC with an app like systemtuner, setcpu, etc.
--patched libhardware_legacy.so from Da_G to allow 192 min frequency.
--updated busybox and bash again(thanks Da_G)
changelog for v2
1. add EN USA language
2. added extended power menu
3. move all market apps to /data/app/
4. replace more Rogers files with ATT for better compatibility with AT&T network
5. added CRT off animation
6. added some tweaks for speed
7. change 4g icons to AT&T
8. added visual voice mail from AT&T
9. add AOSP gb keyboard
10. replace host file with adfree version
11. added rom manager, titanium backup, flashlight, systune(free version) updated other market apps

WiFi Sharing excessive CPU
TPC - I did find one problem, you might want to check it on your side as well.
I found out that every time on a new reboot. Once the system loads, Wifi Sharing start to poll on the cpu excessively. I can freeze it, then clear data then unfreeze and it would settle down, but once it reboots, the problem comes back. OR I can freeze the app completely.
But I don't think it should be doing this on a "normal" basis since it wasn't do this before when running the ATT stock.
could that may be causing the phone to heat up?
I was having that problem yesterday, wifi scan killing the battery.

thanks for reporting, I will give it a look after work this afternoon...cya on IRC
just posted to OP a patch to install visual voicemail for AT&T those of you who want it and also the ics and gb keyboards thanks to p4s for making it easy over on IRC.
The only "temporary" fix I know how to stop FTS (FilesTransferService) to eat up the CPU cycle is to:
1) If you have a program like Titanium Backup (paid), or System Tuner (paid), you can freeze and unfreeze it. It will stop
or try
2) Going in to Settings -> Wifi -> Wifi Direct and enable it for a few minutes and then turning off (but this method doesn't work 100% the time)
FTS/FTM/FTC is part of the WIFI Direct. As to why every time you reboot the phone the FTS goes to hell, still looking in to it.

i've never used hulu...does this zip work for our device? I will do some checking to see what all is affected and make sure it doesn't break something else in the rom. If the zip works, I really don't understand why it needs to be in the rom...not everyone uses hulu(example me).

Its basically just a hexedit on the libflashplayer.so. They change AND to WIN and the version to 99,9,999,999 type situation, so Hulu sees the mobile device as Windows and a high version number (to prevent saying the Flash player is out of date). It just gets overwritten the minute you update Flash through the market to a newer version. Personally, if people need this, they should be applying it themselves and not tampering with Flash binaries (which could affect other sites that are trying to determine mobile users)
There are other threads out there that detail the changes more thoroughly, that thread is just a "how to" posted by someone to take the trickiness out of it.
A slightly better solution in my mind is something like this thread which uses the official mobile app instead of hacking Flash. This one does work on our device too (tested by me):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257277
I'm not saying it should be incorporated to the ROM, but people should just follow the link and use it if they need Hulu.

thanks you save me alot of research time. From my experience in the past, stuff like this needs to be added by the user who wants it...not forced on everyone who flashes the rom. If the zips don't work for our device, i don't mind making the edits myself and making a zip...but it won't be cooked into the rom.
For now, you can change the locale easily with MoreLocale2 Just create a new local label is en US and thats it. I will try to have this changed by next version.

I don't mind doing it, but first priority is getting the rom fixed up like it needs to be. In the mean time, you could always grab a hex editor and fix it yourself...romracer just made an excellent post telling you how. The boot animation and shutdown animation are in a samsung file that is a format i have never seen before(my first sammy phone), but from what i have read there are no tools to edit them.
These are my first priorities with the ROM:
1. get full conversion to AT&T USA--language, locale, etc.
2. work out any bugs that may be in the rom
3. clean it up and optimize it for performance
4. unlock stock kernel and make a few changes that will not affect stability(no oc)
when all of this is done to my satisfaction, then i will move on to more "cosmetic" changes. Please be patient...I work 50-60 hours a week, have a family, am a moderator here at XDA, and occasionally like to kick back and have a cold beer

when all of this is done to my satisfaction, then i will move on to more "cosmetic" changes. Please be patient...I work 50-60 hours a week, have a family, am a moderator here at XDA, and occasionally like to kick back and have a cold beer

So i know theres a lot of you guys out there that have tossed yall's evos into a drawer since moving onto other devices like the LTEvo and such.. myself included.. i jumped ship and got myself a One S and soon to be Galaxy Nexus!
But i figured why just let it be forgotten about? Right?
So with that in mind I bring to you guys a rom that fits right into said category and practically converts your evo into a media device
My mission is simple... turn our devices, from what used to be a phone, into a full-fledged android media player!
Its still a WIP and ive got a few more things to add/remove but all in all its been running for a week or so now now with no problems at all
This has been rebased off JMZTaylor's final CM9 build
Awesome BEATS v4 for sound enhancement (thanks ...Awesome... for giving me the green light on this )
Walkman from Xperia T (its much prettier! Rizal Lovins is the man of the hour for getting this gem ported over )
Google Now (searches work now when typing and having walkman in the list of searchable items!)
Xperia goodies! Launcher with Walkman widget, Notes with respective widget, Clocks, and Weather widget!
Mapped themes button in settings to open Xperia Launcher settings (man that was a pain in the membrane)
A themed SystemUI i did myself including new pull down backgrounds, center clock, battery icons and when you switch to percent it shows a percent sign and will turn green when charging
Easter egg: after installing the rom, go delete your cache and dalvik cache through recovery and reboot for some lulz!
Battery is continuously getting better since I've removed the RIL libs and a bin file to prevent the phone from knowing what to do with the radios
Mason 15 kernel baked in (the default governor is ok but OCing to 1152mhz and setting gov to Wheatley gives great performance)
Heavy debloated system
Removed as many traces as i could find of access to phone such as:
Signal bars (wifi and bluetooth still show)
No service is finally gone and so are the Emergency call things on secure lock screens
Dialer, contacts, messaging, calendar, email, and many others
Baseband setting and device info, cmstats, and system update (it would FC so i killed it :good
if you find anything let me know in a PM or in this thread
Remove language packs to lighten up the rom size
Remove unnecessary toggles and more useless/conflicting entries from settings and things like airplane mode from power menu
Theme, theme, theme
Fix anything else that may arise over time or that other people may notice
Follow up with any personal requests from users if time permits
Ubersonic RC3
Enjoy

(included is the PC36IMG and fastboot instructions}
You should be either s-off or Htc-dev UNLOCKED s-on to with custom recovery to install (i use amon-ra 2.3)
if s-off use these steps to install...
1) download zip
2) throw onto root of sdcard and take the PC36IMG.zip off if you have one
3) boot into recovery by turning off and and holding vol-down + power buttons and once in bootloader, vol-down to RECOVERY and choose it
3) wipe data, dalvik, system, and boot
4) flash zip from sd
5) reboot and allow rom about 30 minutes or so to settle in
if UNLOCKED s-on use these steps to install... (this is the WINDOZE way!)
1) download zip and take out the boot.img file and put it into the folder with fastboot.exe
2) throw onto root of sdcard and take the PC36IMG.zip off if you have one
3) boot into recovery by turning off and and holding vol-down + power buttons and once in bootloader choose FASTBOOT
4) once FASTBOOT USB appears type (hitting enter after typing each line)
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot boot.img
5) then choose HBOOT and vol-down to RECOVERY and choose it
3) wipe data, dalvik, system only NOT boot!
4) flash zip from sd
5) reboot and allow rom about 30 minutes or so to settle in
will try

I was actually thinking about making something similar to this for myself. I don't use network data at all just a wifi hotspot device that I carry with me. This would be perfect for me... if I still had my OG EVO. I lost it last night while drunk at a bar
Edit: FOUND IT!!!! Downloading right now and will test tonight. I pretty much run all Roms with airplane mode on so I am excited to give this a try. I just wish ICS had HDMI that is all that is missing for a true Media Device
This is a great, practical use for our "old" Evos! Perfect for at the gym, airplane, etc. Even though I haven't upgraded to a new phone yet, I'll definitely keep this rom in mind for when I do.

Thanxs Scott, you sexy man you
I'm running the full HD ROM that I flashed a few weeks ago via ODIN.
If I install this HE via CWM, does it reset the phone back to stock, having to reinstall apps and settings, or do they remain intact?
Master Scot,
So many questions:
A. How'd you do that? I thought the update was supposed to be around 30MB?
2. Is it just me, or are these official builds getting bigger? (moar spyware?)
D. Wonder if this fixes the Sbeam issue on VRLHD?
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar! I doff my hat and bid you good day.
Ta,
ALQI
My baseband still shows the VRLG7 even though my build shows VRALHE.....
Shouldn't the baseband change?

1. Do what, make the rooted ROM so quickly? My magic computer does it. Not even me :silly: Seriously though? I had to Go back to G1, take the G7 update, then take the HE update, pray to sweet Jesus it doesn't close root and aboot holes (and it didint!!), then I re-rooted, then I dumped the /system and /boot partitions, then I reassembled them. Bam you got your ROM! And at one point, of course I had to flash TWRP to test them!
2. These ****ing ROMS are huge!
D. I have no clue? Never used it.

Scot,
Your cleanroms are nothing short of spectacular in terms of performance and stability. Will we ever see a CleanRom based off of HD or HE. I did noticed you just released the ultralight version, I am looking for more of a 2.5 experience but using HE based rom.
I am not asking for dates or anything, just wondering if it is in your horizon.
Thanks for your hard work.

Nope. Not yet, anyway.
I was able to make a small change to the zip (swapped out the Play Store and GSF apks with their inverted counterparts), but I'm holding off on flashing for a day or so while I give myself time to see if another ROM is to my liking.

i'm sure you'd be fine if you added a .zip extension.. just open up the archive, are all the normal folders/contents in threre of any other rom you've flashed?
or just wait a little while for vincom to fix it
i was renaming it in devhost and i forgot the extension, if youve used devhost you know what i mean
it is a zip file, if recovery doesnt like it just add the extension".zip" to it
its know fixed at devhost, no need to redownload the file for those that have, sorry

So the rom is working perfectly. Thanks vincom for taking the time to slim it down.
However, probably just me but I don't notice any difference in speed vs the stock rom... at least from a qualitative observation. Are there apps that can put numbers to the two roms?

no, more of a feel to its snappiness, espicially from the ics days, wasnt on long enough on stock to check though, but its very comparable to cm
ill have to try this out love your roms vincom keep up the hard work
Thanks Vincom, overall its looking really nice.
One thing I've noticed is that going into "blocking mode" settings results in a FC for me. Was this taken out?
I'm giving this a try and like the slimmed down aspect. I'd forgotten how much I hated the stock Sammy apps though. Easy enough to add a launcher. I think I made the mistake of installing the addons perhaps? Can I add the standard gapps without getting dupes or should I remove email/contacts/etc first? The stock fonts in settings etc appear extra large and busy, I don't remember what a stockish looks like.
edit-> oh wait, I overlooked the CM10 based SL..... I thought this was it but updated and a new thread started. I think I should have gone that way..
