[ROM][12-7]TPC v3 2.3.5 | Da_G OC Kernel | IMG Flash | ATT | Rogers | - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

This ROM is based on the official Rogers Stock ROM, and has been optimized for both AT&T and Rogers users. It will wipe your data so be sure and do a nandroid backup before you flash. This ROM uses a new method to flash, it flashes a complete system.img.ext4 to the system partition...similar to an ODIN flash but without tripping the flash counter. The IMG file is modified from the original stock with all permissions preserved which should provide you with a ROM as stable as Stock Odin Flash and with all speed/features of a custom ROM. Special thanks to Da_G for all his help with the ROM, and providing us with a great custom kernel You should have a stable, fast, reliable ROM suitable for everyday use with this release.

Thanks for this

it is good to see one of the master cheff here for this phone, only good things will come, i know

Just a quick Antutu bench-test using this ROM and Da_G Kernel
----------------

WiFi Sharing excessive CPU
TPC - I did find one problem, you might want to check it on your side as well.
I found out that every time on a new reboot. Once the system loads, Wifi Sharing start to poll on the cpu excessively. I can freeze it, then clear data then unfreeze and it would settle down, but once it reboots, the problem comes back. OR I can freeze the app completely.
But I don't think it should be doing this on a "normal" basis since it wasn't do this before when running the ATT stock.

could that may be causing the phone to heat up?

I was having that problem yesterday, wifi scan killing the battery.

thanks for reporting, I will give it a look after work this afternoon...cya on IRC

just posted to OP a patch to install visual voicemail for AT&T those of you who want it and also the ics and gb keyboards thanks to p4s for making it easy over on IRC.

The only "temporary" fix I know how to stop FTS (FilesTransferService) to eat up the CPU cycle is to:
1) If you have a program like Titanium Backup (paid), or System Tuner (paid), you can freeze and unfreeze it. It will stop
or try
2) Going in to Settings -> Wifi -> Wifi Direct and enable it for a few minutes and then turning off (but this method doesn't work 100% the time)
FTS/FTM/FTC is part of the WIFI Direct. As to why every time you reboot the phone the FTS goes to hell, still looking in to it.

TPC, can we have this mod built into the rom please, that way hulu will work right out of the gate

i've never used hulu...does this zip work for our device? I will do some checking to see what all is affected and make sure it doesn't break something else in the rom. If the zip works, I really don't understand why it needs to be in the rom...not everyone uses hulu(example me).

Its basically just a hexedit on the libflashplayer.so. They change AND to WIN and the version to 99,9,999,999 type situation, so Hulu sees the mobile device as Windows and a high version number (to prevent saying the Flash player is out of date). It just gets overwritten the minute you update Flash through the market to a newer version. Personally, if people need this, they should be applying it themselves and not tampering with Flash binaries (which could affect other sites that are trying to determine mobile users)
There are other threads out there that detail the changes more thoroughly, that thread is just a "how to" posted by someone to take the trickiness out of it.
A slightly better solution in my mind is something like this thread which uses the official mobile app instead of hacking Flash. This one does work on our device too (tested by me):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257277
I'm not saying it should be incorporated to the ROM, but people should just follow the link and use it if they need Hulu.

thanks you save me alot of research time. From my experience in the past, stuff like this needs to be added by the user who wants it...not forced on everyone who flashes the rom. If the zips don't work for our device, i don't mind making the edits myself and making a zip...but it won't be cooked into the rom.

For now, you can change the locale easily with MoreLocale2 Just create a new local label is en US and thats it. I will try to have this changed by next version.

Does MMS work with this rom ?

I don't mind doing it, but first priority is getting the rom fixed up like it needs to be. In the mean time, you could always grab a hex editor and fix it yourself...romracer just made an excellent post telling you how. The boot animation and shutdown animation are in a samsung file that is a format i have never seen before(my first sammy phone), but from what i have read there are no tools to edit them.
These are my first priorities with the ROM:
1. get full conversion to AT&T USA--language, locale, etc.
2. work out any bugs that may be in the rom
3. clean it up and optimize it for performance
4. unlock stock kernel and make a few changes that will not affect stability(no oc)
when all of this is done to my satisfaction, then i will move on to more "cosmetic" changes. Please be patient...I work 50-60 hours a week, have a family, am a moderator here at XDA, and occasionally like to kick back and have a cold beer

I am in no way responsible for what you do to your phone. Use at your own risk!
At long last we now have a custom recovery for the LG Esteem, actually make that 2 recoveries, Clockworkmod and Raidzero.
RZR is a Release Candidates and CWM is official and can be installed via ROM Manger.
USB Mass Storage doesnt work!!.
CWM, boot isnt listed in mounts and storage, thus cannot be wiped manually. This is normal for some phones.
RZR, boot is listed but will not mount and wipe manually.
Both zips contain scripts for windows and linux, just download to your pc, unzip, and run the appropriate one for your OS. Both zips are All In One, meaning it will root and install CWM or RZR in one step.
Download zip to your computer
Unzip zip
Connect phone to computer via USB cable
turn on and put into Internet connection mode
run the install script for your OS
Booting into recovery with the button combo is a lil tricky (gonna work on this) vol +- and power from power off, it will boot to the LG Reset screen, press power 3 times, dont freak out, it wont erase your data
, and then recovery will appear. Some ROMs are already in the works n will be ready soon, one including reboot to recovery options in the power menu.
Button Combo: VOL +- and POWER, press power 3x at LG Reset Screen.
App - Quick Boot
App - ROM Manager - no other features will work until CWM is submitted and officially built with RM support by koush.
NOTE: Root now works with either ZVB or ZVC thanks to djrbliss!!! Be sure to show him your appreciation!!!
Now for the goods
LG-Esteem-Revo_AIO.zip - Official CWM build for the Esteem available thru ROM Manager!
NOTE: I will be updating RZR as I get the few issues left fixed, but after that I wont be supporting it due to what all I already have on my plate. It is a nice recovery tho with a ton of features. Not for the novice or complete n00b IMO tho.
People to thank other than myself
mtmichealson - dev - help and assistance with development.
interdepth- dev -Transform - help and assistance in brain storming to find n fix for reboot issue.
djrbliss - for the new root for ZVC. Be sure to show him your appreciation!!
DRockstar - for his wonderful scripts I based my shell script from n borrowed snippets for the batch file
koush - for his awesome recovery.
Raidzero - for his RZ Recovery.
Testers - they all deserve major props for testing, bricking phones, patience, and understanding I/we have a life outside of Android.

Hello all, we are working on porting CWMR to the LG Esteem. We have it booting and able to flash a boot.img. Problems we seem not to able to figure out tho is CWM reboot about 2min after booting into it resulting not being able to preform backups and testing of other functions.
Does anyone have insight to offer us on what may be causing the rebooting?

Its ok, we got it anyhow
[KERNEL] Plague Overclock Kernel for LG Esteem MS910
no dedicated section yet, so i'll just add this in here
Ok folks, as we know have CWM working I can now post my custom overclocked kernel.
Its build from LG source and modified by myself with assistance from mtmichealson. It has a max oc of 1708Mhz (1.7Ghz) with scaling inbetween and even some lower settings added.
Its been running and very stable @1.7Ghz for all I know who are running it. It has 2 additional governors added, smartass2 and interactive. Smartass2 has been reported to revert back to ondemand or performance. I will correct this in a future build or make sure thats what its suppose to be doing.
I would like to thank our team of testers, they been a great help to me and mt, thanks guys!!!
The goods:
Plague Kernel
Download and copy to your sdcard and install with CWM or RZR. No wipes needed. Get SetCPU or similar app to set overclocking.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone!
Now we just need an esteem forum here on xda
i am looking forward to further development on this device!! i plan to purchase one soon and im more than willing to contribute!!!
Upon updating the Kernel. I noticed that the camera's UI has changed/ reverted to a earlier version. In my case its not allowing me to change the Megapixel settings. just giving you a heads up. I suspect this being the kernel because I have 2 Esteems. updated on with the plague. then updated the other phone got the same UI on the camera.
i cant seem to get into recovery after rooting.... am i just too slow?
Disregard that last message, i got recovery working fine and running the Esteemed rom as i type this, first i must say this rom is lightning fast... very stable and responsive. love it and looking forward to more development on this device!!!!

Great ROM! great work throughout. But I'm having some Bluetooth connectivity issues. The phone goes to "force stop" And never connects... I'm assuming your using the same Bluetooth files, so I find it odd that this is happening. should I re flash?

I have a question:
The last phone that I had (HTC Aria), all I needed to do was flash the ROMs through clockwork....no dealing with boot.img
Is this because the boot.img was included in the ROM zip for the Aria? What exactly does boot.img do? Will flashing a boot.img be required for ALL roms? is the boot.img rom-specific?
Thanks for all of your amazing work for this phone,
Mike

It's because they changed their bootloaders and because the phones are s-on (i just realized I put s-off in the OP). Boot.img is where the kernel and the kernel ramdisk are located, it is all important and in every ROM...
Until we have s-off, all ROMs likely will need to flash boot.img separately. there is a way of packaging up the bootimg into a PJ83IMG.zip, which goes onto your sdcard during flash, but these zip files can't be flashed via bootloader anymore, so, we're stuck...

Thanks for your prompt response! So just to clarify, once we gain s-off, both the rom and the boot.img will be in one flashable zip file flashable through clockwork , correct? Because my aria was s-off and the roms that I flashed had the kernels included... We also had flashable kernels

recovery is not ready for neither AT&T nor Rogers. Once it is ready, it will be for both versions, however only Rogers can flash it as of now as their bootloader is unlocked.

It won't. there seems to be something in the misc partition of the phone that prevents the recovery from booting up if the recovery is not signed properly. I understand that a developer is working on bypassing this, but it i snot available yet. Please don't mess around with recovery right now. It will be here soon...

Does Wifi tethering work on this ROM without getting the T-Mobile webpage when trying to use a PC tethered to the phone?
web link bug
There is a bug in this rom compared to stock. When clicking on a web-link from gmail, facebook, etc. the browser crashes. If you type in the address manually it is ok. If you copy and paste the link it crashes.
Any ideas?

Could be a problem with the deodexed browser.apk. Does the browser work by just launching it? If not try pulling the browser.apk out of one of the EU roms and push it to your ROM.

I don't know, since I would really rather not download anything from a filesharing site that requires you to register your email address. But I suspect it works exactly like in the stock build (the author only stated that he removed the bloatware, it is not even clear if he deodexed the /system partition).
However, on a rooted phone this should not be a problem for you. You can always download the WiFi Tether for Root Users from the Market, and bypass the T-Mobile racket.

Unofficial AOKP 4.2.2 for the I9305
Since Cile831 no longer seems to be porting AOKP for us I compiled AOKP from source for use on my own phone. It works well for me and I've had someone else test it with success as well. I dont claim this ROM to be anything special but since others seemed interested I have posted this up in the hope that it may help them out
Features:
CM MMS app to give option for quick reply popup for SMS to auto-wake the screen. (downside is the Dark Theme doesnt work for it anymore, if enough interest I can add another rom with standard AOKP MMS app)
CMFileManager
Apollo - Music Player
02/08 Download doesnt contain CM MMS app. I can post a link if anyone prefers it but for now have removed it. Compiled and up to date as of 02/08/2013.
INSTALLATION:
Backup your device
Wipe/Factory reset
Flash ROM
flash Gapps
flash alternative kernel (if you wish)
reboot
Any problems/requests please let me know and I will attempt to solve them as best I can.

This includes milestone 2, right?
No it doesnt. It contains everything up till milestone 2. I believe milestone 2 sources are now released so I will attempt a compile in the next day or so and update this.
Finally,
for my S3 LTE AOKP.
Thank you.

When I use that link, I get a zip file that is 25.6MB in size with an MD5 hash of 802185BD2CD6D389F92407C2DFC391A4. I'm guessing that's not right (should be around 145MB) but when I use the same link with a download manager (FDM), it says the file wasn't found on the server, but maybe Filedropper doesn't like download managers. Any suggestions?
Also, is this latest version incorporating Milestone 2?
P.S.
Thanks for taking the time to port AOKP to the i9305. Much appreciated.

I'm not sure why your getting that problem. Have you tried using Chrome to download it?
If you have a different download provided you would rather I use thats fine. Just list it and I'll upload it. However I dont like complicated sign-ups or paid versions so please skip those
As far as milestone2 goes I can only say that the sources are up to date from AOKP so if it does include milestone2 (I'm assuming it does) then yes. If not then it doesnt. I havent been able to find out one way or another how to tell if it does include it or not... If you have a way to check let me know! It seems to include all the features of it anyway so not a big deal to me...

I am using Chrome. I'm trying it again to see if it's a random glitch with the server.
*EDIT*
I'm watching it now and it's up to 45MB, so it's surpassed the 25.6MB I got last time. What is the correct file size and MD5, so I can check it when it's finished?
Thanks for the prompt reply.

Ok, it finished with a file size of 168MB and an MD5 hash of CF83677F3A66AB2DC2697A2B6C396FDA.
Does this look about right? If anyone else can check the MD5 hash of their successfully downloaded zip, that would also help.

Small but critical problem found (but probably my fault)
Unfortunately, I had to restore from a backup (back to cile's last version) because this version broke the Theme Chooser and Themes Provider. I couldn't change the theme (Settings>Themes) as the Theme Chooser and Themes Provider would stop and my ringtone was "Unknown" and wouldn't make a noise when the phone rang. If I tried to change the ringtone (Settings>Sound>Phone ringtone) using "Media Storage", Themes Provider would crash.
Now, I didn't do a full wipe when I installed infrag's version (did the usual Davlik+cache wipe) as they were both 4.2.2 and AOKP based so I didn't think it would be necessary but it appears it might be. Frankly, I just couldn't be ****ed setting the entire phone up again after a full wipe but if/when we get a 4.3 based version, I'll probably invest the effort then. Other than that, ROM worked well and I'll happily install a future version.
So, Ladies and Gents, learn from my mistake; a full wipe is called for when installing this, unless you want things to break.
I've just checked on my phone and Theme Chooser seems to work. I only have the stock theme installed but I re-applied it to check and it seemed to work...
I also can change ringtones without a fault so I'm not sure whats going on here. I can understand the full re-setup isnt what your after.
If I have some time I may flash Cile's rom and then mine and try to figure out whats going on...

$10 says this wouldn't have been an issue if I'd done a full wipe, as indicated in the installation instructions. Personally, I'd rather you spent your time bringing us updates of this ROM rather than investigating random issues that only affect people who choose not to follow instructions. Since, as far as I know, this is only happening to me, it's probably not worth wasting time on.
If you're looking at porting 4.3 AOKP (when that arrives), there is something you could look into. I did install CM 10.2 to have a squizzy and the reason I ditched it was that it unrooted my phone. According to the SuperSU page in Google Play (under whats new) installing 4.3 can unroot your phone. Judging from the CM 10.2 thread, this doesn't seem to affect everyone.

Fair enough
I've compiled my own CM 10.2 version but was about half a day too late to be the first to put up a link. Since there is an active person updating it I've left that for him to keep up to date.
I've compiled Slim Bean beta 1.2 (4.3) today and posted that. Probably not real stable yet but its there in case anyone is interested. I've tried it on my phone and it boots but not sure on any problems with it.
When AOKP 4.3 gets released I'll give it a crack as soon as I can

This has the CSC rebased to the USA and you shouldn't have any charging warnings or issues.
Well guys i cant flash it. My fault not yours. I cant upgrade to pj2 firm. I dont have a usb port on my note 5. Been like this since i got it pieced together from 3 note 5s all 3 had bad usb ports and im not separating my screen to change the circut board.
Any one know of a pj2 flashable in twrp then i can?
Thanks in advance

I Use Filezilla windows app and Root FTP server from PlayStore to copy files back and forth via wifi to the phone. It works great as a development tool for replacing system apps & files too.
---------- Post added at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 PM ----------
And you might be able to get away with whatever firmware you're already running as long as its MM.

You can use FlashFire to flash one of my mini bootloaders to update firmware.
But be careful with it because if you lose root or custom recovery, it may be difficult to get back.
---------- Post added at 01:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ----------
And the Pro upgrade of FlashFire (in app settings to upgrade) is only $3.25 so if it saves you, I would consider the donation because without Chainfire, you wouldn't have root and so many other wonderful things.
Thanks for putting this together.
Additionally, FlashFire by default will not replace recovery (TWRP). You have to uncheck 'preserve recovery' if you want to install a new or different version of TWRP using FlashFire.
apn backup
this is the apn backup u will need to restore not sure if the file is already included with RC2? but anyway here it is
so restore this apn then ##72786# reboot after signal goes out then everything works!

Yep, the APNs are included. You just open the APN app on first boot and scroll over to the right until you see "restore" hit that and wait a second. Open the dailer hit ##72786# and wait another min. Restart and you are good to go.
If you fast reboot after the first ##72786# (ScRTN) you won't have to do it again. If you full reboot you will. Questions are answered faster on telegram, but feel free to ask anywhere you guys feel comfortable. We really hope you enjoy the port!
This rom works great. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now as my daily. It's brought new life to my phone. On a side note, I only had to restore apn's on first boot, and run the ##72786#. I have rebooted many times and everything works fine after reboots. Nice work guys!!
Long days....Many nights...It's finally here guys.
We are very helpful people who really worked hard to get this to work.
Jacob put alot of love and effort into this please give him the respect and thanks he deserves.
Thanks to everyone getting it to where its at today, happy that it can finally be shared properly to everyone.
This Rom definitely has given life back to the Sprint Note 5.
Did a full clean install and followed all directions and it has been running flawlessly. In my case the rom did not come with apns but I downloaded the file and easily restored them through APN manager. Thanks to everyone involved, daily driver worthy for sure ! ??
This is deff my daily driver. Been running for months with the good and the bad and the ugly and happy to say its in a good place Remember if your someone like me and wants nothing but performance use the built in gov tuner thanks to gov tuner team set that badboy up on 3 and watch it fly. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask away alot of good people here to help out. Just dont ask why your GSM sim dosent work cant help you out there it works or it dont thats something u have to test on your end. Some GSM sims do work some dont. Its the luck of the draw
