[Q] Root + Firmware 2.17 - Sony Xperia L

Hi!
I have one C2104 and the device has a problem with Wifi, he conects and disconects after 3 minutes.
So i read some tutorial and updated de firmware to 2.17 version INDIA with the flashtool. And it worked, my wifi works fine.
And i rooted the device with these metod;
PART B(PARTIAL ROOT):-
1. Connect the phone in debugging mode via USB. To enable debugging mode, go to Settings => Development => Check "USB Debugging".
2. Wait for the drivers to install. Happens automatically on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
3. Download the zip file below and extract it.
4. After extracting, run "Run.bat". Admin rights usually not needed.
5. Follow On-Screen instructions.
6. Root complete.
And i tryed 3 times and it worked, now im using Setcpu and Greenify.
My question is: After i maked that stuff in my phone, I'll still get the updates via the PC companion and the update via phone?
My second question, after a imake root in the camera app now has a black stripe on the buttons to take the picture. Only when i'm using the 8MP relotion. This is normal?
Sorry for my english.
Thaks.

You'll be able to update phone without any problem but you'll lose root afterwards.
I don't have a clue about the camera thingy.
Try to reboot?
Regards,
Ishaan

Why did you flash the India .17?

I installed the Indian version because the version that comes with the unit (I live in Brazil) was in trouble in Wi-Fi that disconnected every 3 minutes.
*
So I installed this version (C2104_15.0.A.2.17_India) and she corrected this problem. I could not be installed because the Indian version?

The black stripe in the camera app is there because of the used chip. When you set your camera to take 8MPX pictures, the ratio change's from 16:9 to 4:3....

[Q] Can't root Indian Atrix 2 running OTA ICS 4.0.4

I have an Indian Atrix 2 running the official OTA ICS 4.0.4
I haven't rooted the phone before it updated and was trying to do it now using the files and instructions from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742879
I've done all the basics:
-Checked that USB Debugging was on
-Checked that Unknown Application Sources were allowed
-Made sure I had the latest drivers
However the root batch file only says that the "daemon started successfully" but nothing happens after...
I've attached a couple of screenshots
Also I noticed that after connecting my phone to the computer and running the command 'adb devices' my phone doesn't show up in the devices list, this probably has something to do with it, but I don't know what or how to rectify it.
Try different cable or computer usb port.
I've yet to successfully root mine as will but i would also suggest running as administrator
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
tried both suggestions, unfortunately to no avail.
How about reinstalling adb??
If nothing works i would suggest doing a factory reset and trying again.

seems driver issue, the phone is not recognized..
I rooted it using the attached RazrRoot file. I saw it somewhere on XDA but I am unable to find that thread. So I am uploading it again.
All the credits goes to original developer. I am just uploading it again.
For me, there was no problem in rooting the device. I rooted it as soon as I updated to ICS. So good luck to you all.
PS: I won't be responsible for any damage caused to your device
Still error

check your connection mode
When you connect the phone using the USB cable, what mode is activated? Try selecting mass storage mode and then run the root script. (Other modes like MTP etc won't work I think)
Also try reinstalling the drivers before trying this out.
Doesnt work

I've tried all the suggestions, out of which none seem to have worked. I think it is a driver issue, however I uninstalled the driver from the Windows Device manager and re installed the latest moto drivers, which hasn't solved the problem. So now I'm out of ideas

How long did u wait after running the root file ?
It does take time to move ahead from daemon started successfully.. and ur phone will reboot twice after the darmon starts.

If u see the screen shot i have attached in a reply above u will see that it goes till the end without rooting the phone
download the razr root file and try again, maybe some problem with the download. im sorry cant help you with anything else.. maybe a hard reset should do it.
try following this again,
download the moto driver
Moto Drivers
download the razr root from here again, this is the one i used
Razr root 4.0.4
Connect phone in MTP mode
USB debugging enabled
Right click on the root.bat file and Run as administrator..
This is how ive rooted, twice, and also one of my friend.. the difference is that im on the latest leak, 672.1.18.en.03 ( but thisis also the OTA for AsiaRetail MB865) So this Should probably work.. If not maybe research some more and if nothing helps maybe a hard reset is your last option..
See if this helps
Firstly I don't know since you already attempted a root method which didn't work out yet how & up to what extent it alters your phone though not rooted. If your phone is working I feel the first step now would be for you to do a factory reset assuming you are on ICS OTA (OTA remember & nothing else) & I am repeating one of my post for what's it worth to you cause it was successful for me, so here it is :
Here's what I did :
1) Installed the latest USB drivers (in my case Motocast) from Moto site.
2) As a double check executed the Motorola Device Manager program (basically the USB drivers) again from the Moto site (which gives option of repair or uninstall & I selected repair since I initiated the install process) atop the prior installation of the Motocast.
3) Cold boot the computer (shutdown & then restart & not just restart {being paranoid })
4) On phone ensure screen timeout to never, screen always on while charging, usb debug on, allow non market apps install check then plug in to back port and when the Moto USB transfer GUI pops up, right click the icon @ system tray & check do nothing when phone is plugged in. Unplug phone
5) Once again cold restart phone & computer
6) After phone restarts killed all google processes manually, disabled anti virus, vpn's & other non critical apps
6) Once rebooted both devices, selected MTP mode, plug in phone & click on Jim's root file
7) Root - Cut thru like hot knife thru butter
One most important point was since I was absolutely bone stock I did not do factory reset before plugging in phone and in case if any kind of tinkering has been done ensure factory reset to make sure you go absolutely bone stock & then follow above steps. Hope this helps.
Post your final update. Good Luck!

[Q] Having problems with Xperia L

After more than a month of use of Xperia L I've noticed some problems with my device
1. Phone randomly shuts itself of when there is around 75%~ of battery, but this happens rarely
2. Problems with phone calls, when I receive a call the voice is like lagging and I'm unable to continue the call (Full signal)
3. Mobile Internet keeps dying even when having full signal
4. The albums app shows all pictures black when clearing the cache
5. Some weird issue with touch screen, mostly when unlocking the phone
6. It takes around 10 minutes for computers (Both Windows and Linux, tried different computers too) to recognize the device and be able to transfer files when connected via USB
7. WiFi direct doesn't work (Tried with Nexus 7 tablet)
I haven't rooted it, unlocked the bootloader (I can't unlock it) or did any modifications to the ROM or the phone
I'm running 15.0.A.1.31 Stock

I require help (Sony XPERIA E)

Hey everyone!
I'm new to JOINING this forum. However I have been taking bits of this forum for a few months now. I am a well experienced user when it comes to android development and rooting, but one thing I need to know - is about the Xperia E.
I hate the processor of the phone. 1GHz with 512MB is not enough, but I can change my RAM to 1GB with Root Apps and I want to use the full potential of the 1GHz Processor. I have tried rooting 3 phones, it turned successful, and next is the Xperia E. But Rooting seems dodgy and first I want to try Framaroot.
I had tried Framaroot 1.8.0, 1.8.1, 1.6.0, 1.6.1, 1.4, 1.3, 1.5.1. All with Aragon or Gandalf, and none worked.
My phone is clearly listen as C1505 on the Compatibility list. So why is this not working?
I need help on this. And if there is any other way on rooting the device safely so it cannot be bricks nor severly damaged, I will do.
Phone - Sony Xperia E
Android - 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
4GB (3.64GB) SD Card
Framaroot V1.8.0 (Not working
3.4.0/11.3.A.2.13
Try kingo android root- google for it

It was working fine guys until I downloaded LCD Density. I put it too 300 for a little experience test.
A Bad way to go - My phone can charge, connect to PC Companion and Update Service, but is stuck at the Sony Screen.
When trying to repair at the Sony Companion, it says 'Already Latest Drivers'. When trying to us SUS, it says the same. I cannot get into flashmode and I don't have an unlocked bootloader. I'm on Kingo Android Root with SuperSU, LCD Density, Frills CPU Control, an some other root app. I need help for XPERIA E fast, because it's the only phone have in my current price range and I need to restore it to default. Any ideas?

Are you sure you can't get into Flashmode?
You could try this:
Connect your phone with your PC. Open up device manager(google on how to open, if you don't know). Click with the right mouse on your Xperia E's drivers and select "delete" or "uninstall".
Now: disconnect your phone, and connect it again. Windows will most likely ask you to install drivers. Ignore it!
Now try to repair with PC Companion or use SUS.
They should ask you to install the drivers(not 100% sure...). Let it, and then perform the steps.
It may work, but I can't guarantee it will!
Hope I helped an have a nice day!
PS. Tip: never do anything(use an app, flash a tweak) until you're absolutely sure it won't mess up your device

If you had read the thread on how to root the Xperia E then you wouldn't be in this mess. You would also know that you can't root the latest firmware. You have to downgrade, root, then OTA update - or - flash older kernel, root, flash new kernel.
Reading would have prevented this.

Actually if you were smart, you would've flashed lower JB kernel from last firmware which was rootable then root then flash the Latest JB kernel

You can also try this:
1. Download Flashtool and install it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 Then download this, and put it in your Flashtool firmwares folder: http://d-h.st/ufn
2. Open Flashtool, and click the lightning icon. Select Flashmode, then press OK. Choose the 11.3.A.0.47 and click Flash. (Warning: everything on your phone [other than the microSD card and internal storage for music etc.] will be deleted!)
3. When it tells you to hold the back button on your phone and stuff, turn off the phone, hold the volume down button, and holding the button, plug the phone in. It'll be flashed.
4. When it's flashed, Flashtool will read: "Disconnect your device and power it on" or something like that. Do as it says.
5. Hopefully you'll be on the 0.47 firmware, which is compatible with Framaroot. You can use the Gandalf exploit to root your phone.

Yeh, I did read the kernel thing however I thought Kingo did it for you. And it wasn't the Rooting, it was the LCD Density too high to load up the phone because it was working fine before (correct if im wrong). I did the flashtool however there is no option for my kernel and it says my phone cannot officially be unlocked thing. I will try device manager
Wait...I have device manager up, my xperia e connects to the device manager, but I can't find the Xperia E on the device manager. There was a Sony ericcsson thing I deleted; my computer still works fine but no software available stll for Xperia E. What would the Xperia E (C1505) be called in the device manager?

[UNROOT] Return to Factory Stock - AT&T LG G3

UNROOT METHOD FOR AT&T LG G3
So you messed around with your G3 too much and broke something... or do you need to return it or send it in for service. In either case, you may need to un-root and restore the phone to factory settings.
Follow the instructions below to get your phone back to stock.
How to un-root the LG G3 on AT&T
1. Download all four files
Driver
LG Flash Tool

11. Change COM Port to COM41 - Click OK and Close device manager
12. Go to LG Flash tool and run as administrator
13. Select Manual Mode and browse to the folder you extracted the files to and select the .dll and .tot you downloaded
and unzipped in item 4 and place in corresponding box. dll in dll box and .tot in S/W box
14. Click OK
15. Click Yellow arrow to begin
16. When the Port 1 (COM41) box is ready, unplug USB cable from phone, wait 5 seconds and plug cable back in to phone.
17. The process will take up to 45 Min (Mine took 2594 sec)
18. When you see a large 3 on the screen - unplug phone, pull battery and reboot
At this point your phone is un-rooted and restored to factory settings.

WARNINGS & DISCLAIMERS
Proceed with caution and at your own risk - I am not responsible if your phone self destructs, gets bricked, or melts.
Please keep in mind that both these methods will yield ROOT only - as of know there is no way to unlock bootloader on AT&T
Rooting and any other modifications to your phone will void your warranty - do not root if you do not know what you are doing.
Rooted devices will not be able to receive OTA updates. You may have to unroot and restore stock in order to accept updates.
FAQ:
Q. Will this reset my root counter in the hidden settings menu?
A. Based On my experience - YES - After restoring using this method the root counter showed NO ROOT and the Root Checker app from the market also showed Not Rooted.
Q. When I tried to follow the above method I get a "Can't change to download mode" error referencing "Error 00000064"
A. I experienced this several times when attempting to un-root using a USB 3.0 port. Connect the phone using a USB 2.0 port preferably connected directly to the computer - and make sure the phone is already in download mode. Occasional you may need to unplug the USB cable from your phone for a couple of seconds and reconnect to get the process started.
Reserved 2
Don't need it now and hopefully won't, but if I do this is where I'm headed. Thanks man.
Had to do this for a boot loop I induced trying to remove CarrierIQ. I was following the thread from the general section which has all this information but spread out through the thread. Very simple. Nice to have all the links to the ATT specific stuff so thanks for posting this thread. Would have saved me 40+ minutes of searching around.
I followed the guide but every time I am at Step 15, process fails with message "Can't change to download mode" 00000064. I am still able to get to download mode and do the steps again and again but it doesn't get past this same error message and fails.
I did a factory reset before running the flasher tool. After a couple of failed attempts, I enabled "usb debugging" thinking that might have to do something with the reset process. Still no go ...
Any suggestions? or solutions? Thanks.

Followed this sequence too. Still same. Can't change to download mode. This time around it didn't show "00000064". But hey thanks for suggestion. :good:
Finally I was able to get a computer running windows 7. I setup the machine with fresh download and installation of drivers and tools. Reset process went through without a hitch. It took 277 sec for the entire flash process to complete. I verified the root counter in LG RCT menu and its says "Not Rooted" now. All traces of root gone. Time to box it up and send it to the new owner

Question about drivers. I installed LG pc suite on my computer. Will the drivers that come with it work with this, it should I uninstall and reinstall the drivers from the op?

Although it may, I recommend using the unified drivers.. Those have adb drivers built in.

[Xperia J] Flash Mode + Fastboot = 'USB Device Not Recognized'

Hello Everyone, So i have a Sony Xperia J Unlocked Boot Loader + Custom MIUI Rom, I wanted to go back to stock rom, but when i use flashtool and place my device on flashmode a green LED indicates on my device like usual but on my pc screen it says ' USB Device not Recognized' so now i can't flash stock ftf, is there any other way to get to stock rom or any way to resolve this problem?
(I have a 64-Bit Windows 8.1 Laptop)
First select ftf that you want to flash on Flashtool, wait for pop-up window that tells to connect your phone than connect your phone. If you have drivers installed and disabled drivers verification it should work.
Good Luck

Thank you for your time & for looking into my case, However i've managed to solve the issue, It was due to a fault Data Sync Cable I simply used the one for my S4 and it worked as normal.
