Hi, I was just wondering if anyone was having a problem with the power button sticking down after being pressed? This has been happening on mine lately, and while it works great 90% of the time, the button remains pressed the other ten until I pry it/losen in. It seems that it's the actual white plastic "button" under the cover doing this and I've done my best to clean it.
Is this common? Any tips?

Did a quick search and didn't find too much..
A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my volume buttons started to feel soft. Mostly volume down and nowadays the volume up button is sticking and makes a louder click when it comes back out. Both still work for now.
And now within the past couple days, my power button pretty much lost all of its clickyness. As in it still works, but doesn't hardly move at all and is now harder to turn the screen on and off. Anyone else noticing these common trends?
My volume down button was like that for a while. I took off the back cover and used a can of compressed air to try and force any dirt and/or dust out from under the button. It took several tries, but the buttons all work fine now. Hope it helps.

Just curious, anyone else experiencing this issue? Other members have their volume button fall off (which I could've easily solved) OR their power button issue (which appears to be software related) but for me... my volume button is sticking. The VOL-UP sticks. I just hope it doesn't die anytime soon, how's everyone elses so far? The only really annoying thing is when I want to turn up the volume, it goes all the way up and it keeps displaying the "media/ringer volume" which then I have to press the vol-up again in order to get it out of the way. It'll be a pain if it completely dies though!
No volume/power button issues here.
Maybe it's sticky behind the back cover, have you checked?

Yeah, I checked. I took off the housing and pressed the vol-up itself. I find this irritating. I used to love their build quality but just giving up with them now. Started with the nexus one power button (which I prevented by using the volumes and screen off holding the search buton) issue and it continues! ugh. Now for senny, my volume is slowly dying. This is [email protected]!#$
I searched the forums for this issue, but seems like no one else has experienced this yet..!? I'm not sure how it happened, but just 2 days ago, my power button stopped responding. In other words, no matter how much pressure I put on it, or how long I hold it, my tablet will not turn on or wake up from sleep..! I'm not even sure how it happened. I just left it near on the floor propped up near my night stand earlier this week and the next morning I noticed I had a tough time turning my tablet on... (However, I did notice before this that sometimes my power button was way too sensitive and would ask if I wanted to power off the tablet, when all I did was press it for a second to put it to sleep. Guess, that was signs of eminent failure?)
And it's definitely a hardware and not a charging problem, since I can make my tablet turn on by removing it from the dock for a few secs and then reconnecting it, but obviously this is not acceptable. And other than that I don't know how else to turn it on...
I bought my tablet from Amazon, so I can't take it back to any store. Has anyone here had this problem before and tried to repair it themselves? Or has anyone at least tried to send their tablets in for repair to ASUS after unlocking the bootloader, rooting and loading a custom ROM? How did that go for you?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
amazon has a superb return policy - at least here in germany - should be no prob in the US - just call them so they open a RMA for you - or send it to asus directly.
good luck
cheers
power to the button

My power button was giving me the power off / restart reboot which had been driving me crazy. Took the back off and investigated. The actual power button mechanism is flimsy and not well put together. After attempts with tape, with brief success the reboots returned. Today I looked again and took of the small bit of plastic with the silver button on it and noticed it was not central. Carefully peeled off the silver power button and attached it in the centre. Applied some tape and another piece in the plastic physical button mechanism to help it spring back. The result is my power button feels perfect and no more reboots so far.

Thanks for the input, guys. Glad to hear I'm not the only one and that it seems to be something I can try and fix on my own... I was mostly worried it was well known problem and ASUS wouldn't repair the devices that were tampered with or had unlocked bootloaders, but looks like they may not be thoroughly checking that. And my return window from Amazon expired in late June, so I figured it wasn't worth going through them anymore, but I've never had to that before, so I'm not sure...

I just pulled off the back (it has pressure pins, so i just use my nails, 'bcuz i don't have the plastic tool..), the Power Button is a 'lil switch, the top metallic part is held to the bottom part by a transparent piece of tape, if its not centered, just carefully remove it and place in the center.. If it the tape have enough glue to hold it back, You can use to same piece of tape to hold it back together.. If not, You can use a standard hmm (don't remember the name..) transparent tape to do the job... Hopefully the button keeps in place for while....
Hey guys, yesterday when I pulled my phone out of my pocket, I noticed the power button wasn't working. Upon closer inspection, it is jammed and will only register a press if I really push on it hard. Then I realized the volume buttons were the same exact way, which is strange because the phone has been in a case its entire life and is immaculate. But anyways, has anyone else encountered this? I tried doing a search but no results. The power button works if I really put pressure on it and only the top volume button works if I press it hard as well. The camera button is perfectly fine.
I purchased this phone brand new from T-Mobile November 2014, it may be time to upgrade...
Some cases cause this problems as they put consistent pressure on the buttons
Just experienced this last night. No idea what's caused it. My phone lives in a case with a power button cutout so there's no pressure on it. Odd, and irritating because thus phone is perfect otherwise, and the first one I've ever had that I still liked after 18 months.

Probably either broken button strip, or it has been dislodged from its mountings. You need to remove back cover, then battery and you can see whats going on.
Hello, I wonder if the power button is loose or if it is a defect, mine can move up,down, left and right.
Sry for English!
it is not a defect, it is fairly mushy.
compared to the volume buttons it feels weird. but I think all u11+es are like this
Ya sometime, if press the button not at the centre. The button will slightly went down one side and the button will wobble. But overall clicking no problem. Really hope not a defective unit.
My power button is fairly stiff. If I put any pressure on it to try and wiggle it it doesn't move. The only time it moves is if I press down on it to turn phone on or off.
My power button does not seem mushy when pressed, but it is wobbly, especially from side to side, up-down almost not at all.
And the volume button much much less wobbly than the power button.
But how is you USB Type -C port ?
When I plug my cable (one from the box) it doesn't seem loose like it will fall out, but it does move on the front-to-back direction of the phone.
So it's not completely stiff. Doesn't create any problems charging or connected to laptop, even if it moves like this.
What's you experience ?
My type C port seems very tight....no moving front and back problem... My button just loose issue it can moving aroind, but clicking is solid.
