I have a schi535 running 4.2.2, i535vrlf2, 3.4.36 cyanogenmod-g5f6a2e7. I am not having success with phone, voicemail and address apps. I would like to keep these all very simple and prevent boot dialing or call sticks. E.g. I dialed a fax handshake by mistake and couldn't hang up without pulling the battery. The address list wants to dial a call as soon as a name is selects; another wants a picture of everyone..
I'm really not understanding what you're saying here. You're saying the phone app isn't working right?

I'm looking for a way to identify unknown callers. I know that there are standard apps for these, but none of them seem to fit what I'm looking for.
One of my buddies showed me a setup that he had on his g1 awhile ago. What would happen is an unknown call would come in. He'd click the hangup button. The call would route somewhere and then back to his phone with the number and sometimes the name if the number was in the contacts list.
To test the setup I blocked my number in network settings and then called him. It showed unknown, he hung up, a second later my name and number showed up. From my end I heard no change or handover just ringing.
How do I set this up?

This service has been around for a while.
Check out "TrapCall"
They use this as part of an alternate service because they also offer "SpoofCall" a caller ID spoof service.
It's a pay for service but works exactly as you explain, call comes in, you hit end, they process it and re-port it over to you with the caller info.
Sorry if this has been addressed, I did search but no luck. Im extremely new to the droid world and even newer at getting it to do what I want
I have a rooted droid eris running cyan 7 GB. The phone is not activated.
Is there an app I can install that will allow my wife to send and recieve text msg's to cell phones only using wifi?
Also, wondered if there is a way to spoof the activation. Every time I reboot the phone it wants me to activate it. I had read you could start/stop the activation a few times and it will go away but when I try to activate I have no way to pull up a responsive number pad to enter "1". When the call is in progress and I pull up the number pad it is trying to dial a new call rather than working toward the active call.
Thanks in advance
I do know about texting via email but my kids have text msg only phones and just looking for a way for the wife to be able to text and receive the kids and I from the unactivated phone.
Why no replies, there have been lots of views? Have I put it in the wrong place? Should I post in a different form?
Wow, Im shocked!
All the info on this site and not a single response to my questions? :?
Not sure if Ive posted in the wrong place, asked unanswerable questions or broken some rule but figured Id get something with all the views the post has gotten.

I'm in such a pickle. I seem to have lost my voicemail all together on the Virtuous Unity Rom for the MT4GS. Please somebody help me out. I can't retrieve or leave voicemails on this phone anymore and I don't know why, I also lost the ability to record and set a personal greeting on my voicemail system.... Does anybody know why this might be?

by default, on tmo, if you call yourself from your phone, it will let you log in to your voicemail. i had that issue when i went to cm7 on my 3gslide
I tried calling my phone from a different phone to leave a voicemail. I get the automated reordering saying that I'm unavailable. Then I try leaving a message and nothing. I literally lost my voicemail service..... Help please

Have you tried calling Tmobile? Maybe they can reset your voicemail acct. on their end?
Otherwise maybe make a nandroid and flash a different ROM, and see if it works there?
Have you been using the regular Tmo voicemail service, and have you checked your voicemail settings? A quick solution could also be to install Google Voice or Youmail, and let that set up and handle your voicemail for now. One time I set up Google Voice and then wanted to go back to my carrier's voicemail, and I was in kind of a gray area until I went to G Voice on my computer and deleted my phone number there.
Anyway, just throwing out some ideas, I hope it helps you some.
Call your number, hit star, password prompt. If you don't remember psw, restore a nandroid, call from your phone, change psw, profit. Make a nandroid b4 u restore one. Tmobile resets it.

Are you getting the "forwarding number change failed" error?
Going to google.com/voice and clicking Activate Google Voicemail button on the number that you want to forward your voicemail to worked for me.
I will try that thank you

Rather than trying to switch the voice mail access number from 'My Carrier' to 'Google Voice' (which fails every time), just change the voice mail access number of the 'My Carrier' option to your Google Voice number, and then manually change the 3 forwarding options to your GV number also. Long press '1' will now access GV VM, and unanswered calls will roll to GV VM.
The easiest thing is do the normal steps, when it tells you it fails do not hit OK or Cancel. Just hold power and restart the phone. When you boot back Google voice will be properly selected and it will work correctly.

I hit the back button instead of rebooting when it says "failed", and that worked for me.

AT&T has a new thing called AT&T Messages.
Once you install and go through the steps, it migrates your voicemail from VVM to the new format.
In the new format, it will both transcribe right to the phone and make the recording playing from the phone(in case the transcribe didn't work too well - depends on the caller and how noisy it is)
I installed it just for that, and use SMSpro for regular texting.
The other "benefit" is that it will enable you to text from a pc via the online messaging system(and it backs up your texts in the cloud) - handy if you ever forget your phone at home and need to send a text.
I know google voice does soemthing similar, but might be worth a shot.
I did a search but cant seem to find how to activate Google Voice on my VZW GS3. Im trying to set it up but it says that VZW doesnt support this feature. So I followed the GV support page where it says to dial codes to activate, and one of them takes me to VZW where it says I cant do it. Yet I see people on here using GV. Am I doing something wrong? I am running CleanROM 2.5. Thanks for any help in advance.
Edit: Still have been trying to figure it out and neither of my VM are working now, Stock VZW not GVoice....

Suggestions anyone? I would appreciate the help.
I'm just using Google Voice Lite, but on my previous phone I had to setup forwarding at VZW for unanswered calls to go to the GV voicemail. When I got this phone, it just worked after I downloaded the GV app.

Hi,
This is pretty simple. Just log into gvoice in your browser (http://www.google.com/voice) and go settings. Under phone where you setup your number to be forwarded, should show use this as your main voice mail. Follow its steps.

I can access the vm from my phone as if I were checking it. But when someone calls me it say the call couldnt be completed as dialed when it time for vm to come up.
Your wanting Gvoice to be your VM or VZW to be your VM?

Gvoice, but I would like it to be easy to switch back if I wanted to. Right now neither VM is picking up if I ignore a call. I can call my gvoice number and it will work, but when someone calls nothing is working.
You called the number gvoice tells you to dial to make gvoice your default VM?
Will not work unless you do so.
*71(your gvoice #)
if you did this already, deactivate it *73 and try it over again. *71(your gvoice #)
That is what you have to do to switch between them.

Yes ive done this, It didnt work... I get "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, you call could not be completed as dialed. Blah, blah, blah. Your verizon update could not be completed" when i do the *73
And when I do the *71 I get 3 short busy tones and it hangs up.
When someone calls me and I reject it, The incoming call hears "Your call could not be completed as dialed"
I think ive tried all the proper steps, but feel like im missing something. Please keep the suggestions coming, they are very appreciated
Does anyone have any other suggestions. Thabks again in advance

i've just done it 4 times back to back to see if it still worked on the s3 and it does.....just making sure (please don't make any assumptions about what i'm about to type up, it's just to make sure its being done lol) that when you input the # to dial, you include the asterisk before 71 and that you're using the full 10 digit phone number for your google voice number, like for me its *713379449734 to enable, then *73 to disable......it has worked across an incredible 2, droid 3, and now galaxy s3
Yes ive done it multiple times. Like i said when i do the *71 i get a quick busy signal then it hangs up. Ive been all over the place looking around and now neither vm's are working. I only wanted this for the visual vm aspect of it. I believe that its working. Im sure its me doing something wrong. I have setup it up and activated online, it shows my number and carrier, i can call out via pc, when i push and hold 1 it takes me to enter my pin. It just wont answer when there is an incoming call

Ok so I finally got it working. I deactivated then re-activated, but during the Re-activation it had me put in the *71 + a slightly different number than my GV number. But the voicemail aspect is working now. Im trying to figure out how to make calls through my GV number. when I enter google.com/voice on my phone it says we to to learn this number... Please verify using a desktop. Amd to add it. When I go to settings its already listed as a registered phone. Whats that about?
