When the screen is up to expose the keyboard there is a rattling sound. When the keyboard is down, no rattle.
who else has experienced this?
Do you think I should return it? If not, do you know what it is that rattles?
( this is not the "spring noise" that I have been reading about, at least I don't think it is)
mine does that
when its slid open there is a piece on the screen part on the side with the camera that can b moved
duno if its normal
Do you mean to say I can see the cause of the noise if I take the battery cover off, or did you disassemble your phone to find it?
no no
just slide the screen out
turn it over
when u look at the back ul see an indent that can be pushed in and out slightly it rattles
well at least now I know what is rattling, thanks
np
but i would like to know if everyone has this

I see the same thing. looks like a cover plate for something.
Yeah i noticed it, too.
It isn't too bad but it is a little annoying.
If you slide that piece enough, you can see a ribbon cable.
It's the ribbon cable that connects the two halves of the phone. There is a little trap door there that covers it up while in the open position. If you watch it as you close the phone, the door opens as you slide it closed. But as it does that, it put tension on the spring, the tension keeps it tight when the phone is closed. When you open, no more tension and it has a little play in it. They should have spec'd the spring to have a little tension on it even in the open position so it would hold it still like when it's closed.
Oh well, probably some reason for it. Nothing to worry about at all though.
I was talking to my buddy at ATT last night. All the Fuze's have the rattle including mine. Nothing to worry
as long as it keeps the damn white screen away im happy

ya I was checking that out, it does look like all they needed was to keep a little spring tension on the door even when its all the way out

Mine rattles when closed. annoying
It's a little annoying, not because of the sound but because it makes it seem that much less unfinished. For our money we shouldn't get rattling phones.
My Fuze never rattled til now...
Well, this seems to be a big issue. On mine, the spring doesn't seem to keep the trap door on the back of the display shut at all, its almost "jamming" sometimes when you close the keyboard. I shouldn't have to check to make sure nothing is in the way when retracting the keyboard.
I almost want to scotch tape the black trap door shut to keep it from moving around.
There is a "silver" rectangular metal plate connected to the tension spring that seems to have come loose somehow.
The black door can be slid back and forth freely, as there is "nothing" holding it shut.
I don't like lose metal parts moving around inside my electronics that aren't connected to things they should be. Not at what we paid for this thing.
I see dust problems in the display in the future. I wonder if its time for warranty action?
I've noticed that the slider functionality of my phone, possibly due to user-abuse, is starting to slide off the rails*. I've also noticed that the top is beginning to extend over the bottom... on the side with the PTT button. Is this my fault, or is everyone else having the same problem.
*To define: hold the phone in your hand, and place your thumb on the bottom-left corner of the top "slider-part", (could someone give me the word that should be used in place of "slider-part") push toward the right... Does the bottom, of the top, of your phone slide out by itself? Mine only moves about an 1/8th of an inch, but I'm curious if everyone shares this problem as well.
My phone slides out about the same 1/8 as yours, but i think it was like that even when it was brand new.
Yes it does happen to me, nothing perfect...it's just the sliding mechanism moving on one side and not the other..
I have the same movement on mine. My fuze is 7 weeks old, I use the sliding mechanism, on average, 3 times a day.
When I received my phone I double checked the sliding mechanism - the same movement was present when new. Based on other posts, this appears to be normal.
Other than that, my fuze is doing well. I purchased the ATT store cover (rubberized cover in two pieces) which is really good (although expensive ). I do find that the rubberized cover makes it difficult to put into my trouser pocket, thus I tend to carry it everywhere I go...
I've had that issue since I got it in Nov last year. Other than that, it's working and looking perfectly well. I should also note that I have an invisible shield that's working wonders for the phone. With it installed, I get a better grip on the phone (doesn't feel like I'm going to drop it), obviously no scratches, and fingerprint issues are far less severe.
My first phone slid off the rails too so I called AT&T and they sent me a reconditioned one. Now the slider on the new one actually pulls away from the main body. So I called AT&T again and they are sending me a another phone. Fingers crossed......
The play in the rails seems normal... I do about 4,500 texts a month... so slide open, slide closed over and over again... still holding strong had the Touch Pro since November of 08
My first kaiser (tilt) had that overhang when closed. It bothered me a lot. AT&T wouldn't exchange it, so I superglued a thin, tiny square of vinyl to the bumper at the end of the track to act like a shim, leaving the top and bottom flush when closed. The next two warranty exchanges I got (for other issues) had no such issue, and thankfully, neither does my fuze.
im uber careful with my phone but its so fragile its just breaking apart. the hard keys are coming up, the slider is now over like everyone else, there are small scratches everywhere, and kinda weird is the camera glass is broken around the edges.
My phone is holding up well with the rubberized cover
Holding up well to date, but seldom use the keyboard as have grown accustomed to using FITALY on the Fuze.
Also am using Capdase BiFold case for general protection + top shell of Innocase to help ward off the laminate separation that some users have complained of. (Also helps keep things from resting on the screen.)
May be Overkill, but hope to have this unit for some time....
Without going into a long story I just bought another 300 yesterday after returning the previous one. Upon opening and inspecting it I noticed what looks like a crack along the bezel trim in the upper left corner (in landscape) Between the power and volume buttons. Its right along the bend from the side the to the top. Ive had other 300's and never saw this on any of the others. But Im not 100% sure its a crack. It might just be a joint spot that wasnt aligned right and therefore the paint doesnt cover it. Using my thumbnail I pried slightly to see if the crack opened but it doesnt. Its still secure. So can anyone else verify that they can tell that this is a joint spot?
I also noticed a few things underneath the screen, and normally this would drive me crazy, but after all these returns and exchanges Ive gotten to the point where Im accepting flaws that just shouldnt be there. Its charging now from being totally dead so Ive only gotten a glance at the powered on screen to look for light bleed, and there is one pretty noticeable spot, but it looks like it might be a keeper as far as that goes. As long as I cant see the few particles under the screen when its powered on it wont bother me too much. But if that spot is indeed a crack its definitely going back. Thanks guys
Definitely a joint spot. Holding the tablet in landscape, the bottom two corners also have similar, though less defined, "cracks", but the top right corner does not. Is it the same with yours?

No just the power button corner for me. Pic attached.
After closer inspection I can see that all 4 corners are like that. But the one in the pic is worse. I think they just joined the pieces unevenly, and that caused the line to show up. Im just glad its not a crack.
Well, I wasn't actually referring to them as cracks (hence quotes). I could barely see the seam by the power button, and the other two seams are even less noticeable.
Are you sure you have seams in all 4 corners? Like I said, I only have seams in 3 corners (I've checked the 4th corner many times).

Yea there there in all 4. But only on the edge visible from the front. Very hard to see but there. I cant believe how soft the plastic is. I can see small dents where I pushed down with my fingernail trying to see if the "crack" would move. Wont be doing that anymore.
Hello,
Received my Note10+ yesterday, so far love the device.
I just noticed today (this morning) on bright sun / light a gap of couple of millimeters on top of the screen.
Looks like screen is not going to the edge on top side only, is this normal?

Please see image for better view / understanding.
Thanks
that gap is for the sensors and speaker
Thank you very much for your time and responding to this thread.
I am a little bit confused, isnt the speaker at the bottom?
I had Samsung S10+ until yesterday, and i do not remember seeing gap like this (its not the same phone, but, probably similar design / i might be wrong though).
Thank you
The gap in the middle 2 arrows are the cut out for the front speaker the other gaps are where the screen meets the frame sometime there bigger on different phones its hut and miss
But if it bothers you exchange it for one that fits a bit better
Thank you very much for responding.
I think i have 15 days to replace / return the phone (i will re-check), but, if its kinda normal, and possible on any other phone, even replacement, i do not think its wise to do it.
Once i put case on, i do not even think it will be that visible (hardly visible now as well if not on bright light).
Biggest concern if this would affect IP68 in anyway
Thanks

I think there is a way you can test the ip rating without obviously putting it in water
Back when I had the xperia phones you could squeeze the device and check the pressure didn't rise and stay risen to indicate its water tight
Thank you again for your time.
I decided to test that gap by pouring water on it for about 20-30 seconds, no issues at all.
I will not bother with this, will just enjoy the phone.
Thanks again.
The picture link is not working. From my understanding the only small gap should be in the center where the top speaker hole is. But the left and right side of the top speaker till the corner should not have any gap. I am having the same issue. I'm going to check to see if other models are like that.
Same, should not be there.
In the end i decided to return the phone.
Upon closer inspections took some photos and judging by other demo units on display. They all have that white line gap. Some are more noticable than others. But same line can be seen. I compared 3 different phones from different stores. They all exist. It's seems like that white line looks like maybe it's the adhesive glue. The middle does not have it where the ear speaker cutout is, where the ear speaker hole ends on both side left and right white line is visible because of the extra gap on both sides and it appears that the line stops before the corner on each side of the glass on the top. It's maybe nitpicking buts it's really annoying. I checked on the S10 it's not present on that model and none I see on the Note 9 too. I checked. And since it's like white color can be visible inside the small gap line on the top where the glass meets up with the metal frame.
I actually just discovered that I can get a piece of paper down between the top of the screen and the frame on my Note 10 +!!!??? All along the top of the glass - from the top left corner to the right?
Is this what you are talking about? And will the phone still be waterproof? (There could still be a rubber membrane that prevents water from entering the insides of the phone...)
Took my 3 weeks old flip to get fixed because of the popping sound it made. When opened, just below the grease, on the right edge of the phone. When I slide my finger or press on the spot, it gives a pop sound (and feeling to the finger). You can feel the screen moving up and down and after you lift your finger, it pops off from the residue/glue under the display. It is like there is a tape that does not stick.
There is a reddit post about this so this is just an extra data about the defect, just in case if Samsung won't repair or something.
So, it would be nice to hear if someone else has this problem too. Thanks.
Mine just did it last night, it's on the right side too, where I've seen the others. I'm gonna do my best to ignore it lmao
My first unit had this problem too, it wouldn't lay completely flat when open either. I think the popping/screen detachment might be related to the hinges not opening fully cause whenever I'd force it open flat, the screen wouldn't pop anymore. In the end I returned it and my new one is perfect, no popping and it lays flat. If this is happening to yours, either return it or get it fixed.

Never realized it was supposed to lay completely flat. No popping, so I guess it doesn't matter.
I'm pretty sure the root of this issue is hinge unevenness(if that's a word) side-to-side, I put a spigen hinge film on the other day and it's very noticable in the indent across the middle of the film from the phone pinching against it. The side with the pop is closing further and pressing a groove into the film while the other side is a barely visible line. I'll try to post a pic later I traded in all of my old phones for this one lmao

Also mine went away today, screen 100% back to normal. I got my phone thoroughly wet in the shower today trying to get dust out of the edges, might be related might not. At any rate, good to know that it's not a big deal, if you have this issue it just might fix itself after a week
I have the same on mine. It only affects the lower left quadrant. Pretty annoying.
