Kernels for CM? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've recently installed CM10.1 and discovered that it is very slow performance-wise.
Are there any recommended kernels for that ROM?

Yeah I don't know why that is, my quadrant results are **** eith cm 10.1 but its runs antutu better then stock, is weird that t way. There are a few kernels out there but don't expect much from them when it comes to quadrant benchmarks

How "fast" is your Skyrocket?

Sooo, what is the fastest Skyrocket rom according to benchmarks currently..? I've been curious.. I see top Antutu scores of 7800ish! and I'm super interested as to how that was obtained. OC'ing has always been a hobby of mine with computers so...
I've tried many roms so far. In my experience, I've gotten the best benchmarks from Sky ICS, Sky Coke, and QuikWiz. All of which I used Faux's kernal, rockin' Antutu scores between 7000 and 7260.
What is everyone else running when y'all get your top scores?
Sent from my secret hideout
Im currently running skyice stock. I did get like 7900 antutu with the skyspeed but battery life is my main goal.
Everything runs nice and fluid on my phone. Of course, I believe in usability and actual performance than silly benchmarking numbers
madmax49201 how in the world did you manage to get 7900 in Antutu?

I haven't tried antutu yet, but I've gotten 4077 in Quadrant.

too slow for you to know that there are few threads already out there
No flaming just joke if you can't take it than idk
I average 7100-7200 on sky ice with faux, but have gotten 7500+ on da_g kernel.
here are my download and upload speeds running stock skyicecream no faux no overclock would get the same speeds overclocked well i did. hope this helps
Hmm interesting responses. I'd be inclined to try Da G's kernel with Antutu but everytime I OC over 1.72 GHz or so everything crashes. Faux's kernel has been quite stable for me on the other hand...
Sent from my secret hideout
My phone can oc to 1.83 on da_g's kernel. Fastest antutu I've gotten is 7398 with TPCv3 and da_g's kernel.

Disable CPU Rendering

This tweak has made a big difference on my phone. It could also be the combination between imo's .9 kernel and this tweak, but my phone is running really smooth and I didnt get passed 75% all day yesterday on my battery. Also when playing NOVA 3, I noticed it was smoother. Check it out and try for yourself, heres the forum link

Interesting, how did you install it? The flammable file or manual install?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Ok got it installed manually, download the zip, extract it and move it to the according folder, and delete the recommended file. Gonna take some time to see the diffrefences.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I noticed the difference throughout the day. Less lag in some apps plus amazing battery life.

What roms are u all using??
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Installed this mod.. not sure if it's really working or not.. I ran a sunspider bench which tests rendering speed of the browser and I got a 1450ms speed on CM10.. seems like it's def faster? I'm not sure though.. I want to say I used to get a 1600ish score beforehand.
ROM/Kernel combination?
I am on Paranandroid's Hybrid CM10 based ROM with Imosyen's Lean Kernel. Has someone tried this tweak with this (or any other CM10 LK combo)? Also, does this have any improvement on HDMI/MHL connectivity? If i play vids using MHL, the video kinda flickers and frames overlap.
I asked this in the main thread but figured I'd pop it here as well. I'm on a T999v GS3 (rooted), and the flash file failed in recovery and my phone doesn't have a system directory to manually put the ecg folder in. What do I do next?
Just curious.
How is this any different than selecting this in developer options?

I have the same question as WolfePack. Would enabling gpu acceleration in developer settings do just about the same thing?
The guy states...
"On ICS and JB I don't think this tweak is really necessary, GB never had it as an option, I guess that's why it feels more effective on GB roms. It's almost as if it's already rendering for UI with GPU on ICS and JB, correct me if I'm wrong it just seems that way to me. "
"Yeah I noticed that, doesn't make much of a difference on ICS for me. If you can try GB you may see a big difference."
"On ICS I can't really notice a difference, but on GB the difference is very well noticeable."
and
"debug.sf.hw=1 does that, which is very default in most build.prop I think you don't have to mess with egl.cfg if you have debug.sf.hw=1"
and on the SGS3 default is debug.sf.hw=1 already so.....
so.. are you sure your really seeing anything? I think this is bunk for us given the above points.
installed... makes ZERO difference, in feel or scores of bench marks.
but it does install just fine
Well either it's imo's .9 kernel or this mod because I'm getting 14 hours at 48%. Your benchmark scores should be lower. At least the 3d ones. But I'm not sure what the difference is for the option in the dev options

So what difference has ICS made?

First off, this is not to take anything away from the incredible work put in by everyone. Its awesome that an online community can put so much effort in and share with people they've never met.
That said, have we gained much from this ICS? I was running XBSALL's GB ROM with the Prometheus kernel and it worked very well. 1400MHz, could occasionally free up 300MB RAM, scored 6500 on Antutu and had good battery life. Has this brought us anything more?
I asked this question before the port and was told that ICS will bring features like RAM management etc that will make our phones much better. We are still in the early stages of a ported ICS so we can't expect much yet but will this upgrade make a big difference to our phones?
I'm still quite a noob - GB was a massive improvement over Froyo, will we eventually see the same level of improvement with ICS?

I think so but i guess we have to wait for some time.

In my opinion the Stock ICS is much better than Stock GB...
Also my Antutu Benchmark scores were:
GB: ~4500
ICS: ~5600
GB(Promethius Project 21e + no idea b1) : 7017
Hehe but you cant compare a custom roms score with stock
Sent from my P920 using ICS 4.0.4 by XBSA
No, of course. Well that's a big jump between stock ROMs and your gain was massive. Is there a potential then to hit 8000? That would be incredible.

Haha well mine was just over 5000 on stock GB and I managed to improve the score by 1400 but this guy jumped his score over 2500.
Regarding overclock, Prometheus did a really excellent job. On a stock ROM, mine was very unstable if over clocked to 1200 but was smooth at 1400 with his custom kernel.

ICS make a better use of RAM resources. This can be seen by exiting from games or browsers.
According to speed - maximum benchmarks should be the same on the same MHz. And the MHz depend on the voltage (and this is s.t. that you do not want to increase too much unless you want to charge it every 2h or have a NONmobile phone). And the voltage depend on the kernel. So... in this aspect - they are the same (probably 5% more points gained from different tweaks in the kernel but nobody can say for GB or ICS )
Ability to somewhat multitask by holding down the home button is quite nice.

biggest differnce? now you can use ics apps... NBA 2K13 yeeeeeeaaaaa
OK, having played around with this, it is a much more efficient firmware. RAM management is better, giving faster performance.

WOW 1400mhz,, never been stable for me 1356 was best imo. i used a few ROMS from here,, i liked cm7 but i didnt like the fact had no 3D , so after trial and error i ended staying with thaiz ROM
after a few headaches and watery eyes ive managed to install ICS big thx xbsalls :good:
on stock rom and kernel , scored 33xx(variable) on quadrant which is pretty impressive me thinks
i love the new rom, and all its features its bit like cm but with 3d lol
going to try and root and install custom rom next
OOOh BTW Ucam also swaps the camera round, its in settings

WOW i was using Acura 3D max for a while but couldnt get a signal with the maximo speed kernels not sure why, only kernel that worked for me was Titan 0.6+
TBH i had to use Titan kernel for most non CM roms in order to get signal, maybe it was my baseband, im still on a massive learning curve lol
The fastet Rom i personally tested for GB was JOY OS , boy that was lightening quick , 4000 - 4200 plus on quadrant
:good:
thx for the info though buddy

To my understanding it's an estimated test of the processing power/speed of the chipset.
Idk what up with you guys phone but here's mine..

Your not that far from me that I should be worried.

I don't understand how you guys all get such high scores. I've never gone above 4600 on Stock or CM10.......nothing overclocked. Do you guys do some crazy preparation on your phone prior to running tests to get such high scores?
I just flashed the ROM and Kernel and reinstalled all my apps for me...then ran it. If its anything, I kill all apps.

Benchmarks are really inconsistent in these programs. As long as you think it's fast on YOUR phone, that's all that counts.

That's not too impressive for that kind of OC is it? I'm getting 6082 with a completely stock ROM.
I can try it out if you are really interested and post it
The thing with benchmark tests is consistency. Whether it's a PC or a phone, run your benchmark tests under the same conditions or else you'll get unpredictable results. Me, I shut down the phone, pull the battery, reinstall, boot... then wait a few minutes for everything to settle down... then run the test. Background processes will effect your results.
Other than bragging rights, benchmark absolute numbers mean little. They ARE helpful to see what individual changes do...especially helpful after an update or after flashing a new ROM. And use several tests. I have Quadrant Standard, AnTuTu, NenaMark 1 and 2, and Linpack. Also, SunSpider is a great JavaScript test that runs in your browser...meaning you can compare devices running Android, WebOS, iOS, WinX...or even RIM if you're one of the dozen or so people who still use a Blackberry. Lower numbers are better, since the score is in milliseconds to complete the tests.

[Q] G2x Gets Hot

Hi guys,
I new to this, so don't be mean. I installed MokeeOS-R.282 01/08/2013 and it looks and feels great but my phone started to get hot. I put on the Trinity ELP which i had on my previous Rom (HFP 2.4.2) and that runs very good, but the mokee looks promising. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to sort out the heating problem?
thanks.
Try undervolting or lower your CPU speed. Could just be your phone not working well with the kernel.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
Ok I will give it a try, also can you tell me what's the best known kernel for that rom?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Try different kernels and find out which is the best for your phone. HFP 2.4 didn't work very well for me with its base faux kernel, but trinity ELP made it very smooth and stable for me. I still don't know why, but different G2X's have varying results with different kernels. Harsh kernel has also worked very well for me, btw.
