This tweak has made a big difference on my phone. It could also be the combination between imo's .9 kernel and this tweak, but my phone is running really smooth and I didnt get passed 75% all day yesterday on my battery. Also when playing NOVA 3, I noticed it was smoother. Check it out and try for yourself, heres the forum link

Interesting, how did you install it? The flammable file or manual install?

Ok got it installed manually, download the zip, extract it and move it to the according folder, and delete the recommended file. Gonna take some time to see the diffrefences.

What roms are u all using??
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Installed this mod.. not sure if it's really working or not.. I ran a sunspider bench which tests rendering speed of the browser and I got a 1450ms speed on CM10.. seems like it's def faster? I'm not sure though.. I want to say I used to get a 1600ish score beforehand.
ROM/Kernel combination?
I am on Paranandroid's Hybrid CM10 based ROM with Imosyen's Lean Kernel. Has someone tried this tweak with this (or any other CM10 LK combo)? Also, does this have any improvement on HDMI/MHL connectivity? If i play vids using MHL, the video kinda flickers and frames overlap.
I asked this in the main thread but figured I'd pop it here as well. I'm on a T999v GS3 (rooted), and the flash file failed in recovery and my phone doesn't have a system directory to manually put the ecg folder in. What do I do next?
Just curious.
How is this any different than selecting this in developer options?

I have the same question as WolfePack. Would enabling gpu acceleration in developer settings do just about the same thing?
The guy states...
"On ICS and JB I don't think this tweak is really necessary, GB never had it as an option, I guess that's why it feels more effective on GB roms. It's almost as if it's already rendering for UI with GPU on ICS and JB, correct me if I'm wrong it just seems that way to me. "
"Yeah I noticed that, doesn't make much of a difference on ICS for me. If you can try GB you may see a big difference."
"On ICS I can't really notice a difference, but on GB the difference is very well noticeable."
and
"debug.sf.hw=1 does that, which is very default in most build.prop I think you don't have to mess with egl.cfg if you have debug.sf.hw=1"
and on the SGS3 default is debug.sf.hw=1 already so.....
so.. are you sure your really seeing anything? I think this is bunk for us given the above points.
installed... makes ZERO difference, in feel or scores of bench marks.
but it does install just fine
Well either it's imo's .9 kernel or this mod because I'm getting 14 hours at 48%. Your benchmark scores should be lower. At least the 3d ones. But I'm not sure what the difference is for the option in the dev options

My phone always seemed to run about every game I threw at it flawlessly till I went to kk4. I'm on my third kk4 rom now and while everything seems lightning quick otherwise, my games seem to stutter quite a bit. I was just trying mc2 and every minute or so the game would stutter and go into the pause menu. Madden 12 is unplayable. Just picked up trial x2 and the first one ran flawlessly on my old froyo roms but again stuttering issues. What can I do to improve this? Clear memory before I launch?

Try ICS.. My games are faster and smooth than kk4 roms.
I wonder if this is drm related and titanium backup based issue. Because it'll run stuff just fine for maybe 20 seconds then it'll just pause, the screen will flash black and then it'll kick back on and run fine for a bit before it does it again.

You might want to check that you don't have any scripts hanging around in your init.d folder. Also, check the options for that kernel in CWM. I belive it changes your I/O scheduler and your Governor.
OK stupid question time where is the init.d folder and what do I look for when I get there and wouldn't flashing a new rom clear that anyway?

Not a stupid question at all. Some ROMs are no wipe and don't actully reformat certain areas of the system or data partitions.
/etc/init.d <---I would just check to make sure the folder is empty. If you have anything in there, move it to your SDCARD and then reboot.
OK checked the folder its empty and there were no performance tweaks options in the recovery, it's samauri kernal Btw.

I had to go read what was in that kernel as I haven't used that one yet. This is the only part that concerns me:
topiratiko's ORAM+ inspired LMK settings (not exactly the same but similar)
LMK settings can mess with game play if they are set too high. You could try flashing one of the corn kernels or even the stock kernel to see if that improves it for you. I think you would have to convert back to RFS but I'm not sure. I know Corn does support ext4.
If its no better, you could always flash back to Samuri.

Corn also has the Voodoo Color and Voodoo Sound

Check the OP post. I think you have to because the first time it boots it defaults to rfs and then you setup ext4 in the CWM

However my favorite ROM is unnamed, and with adrenaline shot 14.1 its as close to icbinbs game performance as I've ever seen. And with the sms-kj6-v0.1.1-rc1+ kernel from bhundvens original kernel thread, UV/OC at 1.2, its the most stable I've seen. Literally no reboots.

Can it be used in addition to as, or are they pretty much the same?
You don't need both. DSexton wrote both of them. And most tweaks are written to delete or overwrite whatever else is in the folder.
But if you have as, is the phone already overclocked, or do we have to do that ourselves? Would it just be the same thing?
You need tegrak ultimate to oc. The paid version of the app. And it is definitely worth the money to undervolt for battery sake.
Ok so right now I have Valhalla Black Final rom, SMS Kj6 kernel, and Adrenaline shot 14.1 mod. Do you think I should flash a modem? because I don't know what they do.
Different modems are generally said to work better in different parts of the country. Try a different one and see what you think. You can always flash back to KJ6 if you want. And hit thanks.
Alright thanks for the help. For anyone else, I am running Valhalla Black, KJ6 and Adrenaline Shot 14.1, and the phone is running very smooth and is very responsive.
Just flash Val black and call it a day.

hi everyone,
this is actually directed to Jscott, regarding the ethereal last build 1.2
my question is:
I was using your stock at&t gb with root and cwm.
specifically your option 3 in the threar you posted over in development,
a few days ago ive been using the ethereal rom v1.2
ive been experiencing some differences vrs the stock gb uclb3.
is it possible that battery life is shortened with your rom?
could this be because of the kernel change? (stock has entropy's dd, ethereal infuzion core a)
lets assume kernel could be the cause, is it possible to flash entropys kernel into the ethereal rom? would it affect its performance?
lidroid toggles work partially in some cases, like flashlight wont turn on sometimes.
can the rom have issues regarding the response of the screen, in some cases it seems to fail to respond. have to push my finger a lil bit more to the screen.
im very new to this area of flashing roms and stuff. just wanted to say ethereal is very cool, you did a very nice job with this! thanks!

Glad you're enjoying Ethereal. I'll tell you a little "secret". Ethereal is Option C from the Odin UCLB3 packages I put together. A few images and graphical values have been changed to make it look more custom, the launcher has been changed to AOSP, and lidroid toggles have been added. If lidroid toggles get a little wonky, as they have from time to time in most custom roms, a reboot should clear things up. As for battery use, I've had about the same for both stock and Ethereal. Most have reported good battery stats on the rom, but your mileage may vary based on how you use the phone and what apps you use. You may notice a slight difference when using Entropy512's daily driver kernel, as it was designed to provide good battery life. You can flash it with this rom if you would like to test. If you aren't comfortable flashing kernels, you may want to give Zen Arcade's Infuse Toolkit a try. It gives the option to try different kernels.

You can see the kernel information in Settings / About Phone. The kernel info is the same for both Zen's Infusion-Z and Entropy's Daily Driver since they are based on the same kernel. For battery life, I can get about a day and a half if I hardly use the phone. With moderate use, I have to plug it in when I go to sleep each night. That's about as good as I get for battery life on stock, on UCLB3 based custom roms, and on CM9. This is with keeping the phone in airplane mode and with wifi on when there is bad cell reception. This phone eats up battery when it searches for cell towers and can't find one. I also keep my screen as dim as possible, unless I'm outdoors, keep GPS off unless needed, and keep auto-rotation off unless needed. If I have a day where I use the phone heavily, and the screen is on for several hours at a time, I get about eight or nine hours, but top it off at work or in the car to make it through the day. This is pretty average for most modern smart phones.

Just fixed this, by the way, and will get an update out in the next day or so. There are a few other things I want to work on before putting out another release.
According to the OP, the torch is supposed to be a working feature. However, I have not been able to get mine to work at all. Was just curious if this was an oversight or something I should correct on my device?
Additionally, I would like to know what a safe and stable OC speed would be for my Inspire 4G.... I'm a bit of a speed-freak but do not want to jeopardise anything.

Are you sure your camera LED's are in good working condition? Speed wise, you can overclock it to almost anything you want. If it is overclocked too much, your phone will just freeze and you might have to format everything to ROM default to get out of it. I think you can go up to 1.2 if I remember correct. I always underclock my ROM so that it saves on battery.
EDIT: I found out that it is an issue with the ROM, follow this thread in DHD, you might need a different kernel.

Hey, so i have a question for all of you veterans on here. Im mildly experimental, so i just do the basic flash a rom here and there deal. However, im running hyperdrive rls14 with stock kernel on my Verizon s3. Since it gives me options to have beats audio, aosp email and clocks as well as other great features like the touchwiz motion controls, I've been running it for a few months now.But ive realized its heavy on my battery life, and my phone has been getting hot more often than before. I felt like that partially due to the amount of ram it takes up. So does anyone have any good suggestions as to what i run? Because ive heard things such as pure stock is boring and want to make a good decision.
Try bonestock v3.3 or clean Rom.
Sent from my GT-P5113 using xda premium
I won't suggest a rom as you can very well have a different experience then me. I am going to suggest some custom kernels and apps to improve your experience on any Touchwiz rom.
Kernels:Kt747, leankernel, and Zeus.
Apps: DS Battery Saver, Carat, Greenify, Wakelock Detector and Kill Media Server.
When I ran Zeus may have wrongly accused it for something some settings did on my phone. But i couldnt figure out how out how to access governors

Try it out. Bonestock is a stock Rom if you want it to be or you can mix it up with the aroma tweaks. Apparently you don't flash much at all. Anyone that has to ask has never took time to read the initial post of the thread.

Take some time out to read the op of these roms to see which you would like. Make a backup and start flashing away. Just because someone tells you a rom is good doesn't mean you'll have that same experience.
