GSM Arena Compares i9500 and i9505 - Galaxy S 4 General

imo i9505 wins.

From my Galaxy S4 i9500, in your face.....

This test is definitely a hoax. Everybody knows i9500 has a better battery life, camera lens, and stronger CPU. In this test the scores are too low of the i9500. I always get at least 28k+ on Antutu and 13+ on Quadrant. (Fully stock)

Yah yah yah ... I don't care a bit about tiny marginals!
Both variants have monster performance and both can be tweaked to perform even better

And I get higher scores than they do too for the i9505 (25k+ Antutu and 13k+ Quadrant) with stock clocks.
It's not like these tests are that perfect in consistency. The i9500 is faster but it's a small margin.

"This however, isn't necessarily due to the difference in camera sensors, but rather the software versions of both phones, as they do differ - XXUAMDE for the i9500 vs. XXUAMDC for the i9505. The Exynos Galaxy S4 has newer software version, which might be an explanation for the different camera processing"

Engadget really aren't respectable any more.
I find it laughable how middle of the road the comparison is.
I'm not sure why they'd review like this -- clearly other people have got different results.
And is the call time really so bad on the Exynos model?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Funny how everyone gets mad when the exynos isn't as dominant as some fanboys here expected it to be.

Isn't Engadget an Apple loving fansite now? (and so is Anandtech, and Gizmodo... the list goes on)
Gsmarena at least test better than Engadget, who don't have a clue what they're doing, but they did slip on this one XD
The performance differences are indeed subtle, but I'd like more accurate information regarding battery life, are there any other links that test this?

No, it's funny how everyone gets mad when 'respectable' review sites seem to publish different benchmark scores to what everyone else is getting. Did they just run it once and then not even bother to reboot the phone first?

I always see higher benchmark scores at XDA for almost every phone compared to all of the reviews on 'respectable' sites. The i9500 and i9505 aren't unique at this.

I don't notice any pixelation at all and I came from a Sensation. Going any closer than like 5" to any screen just gives me a headache. I wouldn't trade this display for anything. Honestly, the tiny icons on higher res screens bug the **** out of me. Nothing seems noticeably crisper, just smaller.

Lol. Sure the NS has higher pixel density but it will definitely lag behind in terms of GPU performance, especially because of the huge resolution, which is imho totally out of place in a phone. The GS2 with its good amount of subpixels looks pretty good, and the screen is still huge so high resolution isn't really needed. I'm also quite sure that battery life will be worse on the NS: if ICS uses the gpu properly then the overclocked 540 of this phone will eat it all real quick having to push all those pixels

Apparently these screenshots were taken by "some dude" on an AT&T Moto X, to a friend, who then sent them to Brian Klug, a senior editor for Anandtech.
Here are the screenshots:
The phone probably has a Snapdragon 600! Or something similar, because I don't honestly think an S4 Pro could perform that well. Maybe Moto's baked something special just for us!

How does CPU-Z actually ID the hardware? Is the CPU specs ID'd by CPU model number or are they placeholders in this case because it is an unreleased phone?

From what I understand, it actually knows the exact hardware. I mean, worst comes worst, you just download cpu-z and try it on your own device to see if it matches up. I wouldn't think they're placeholders

An Evo LTE wouldn't benchmark like that. If they've done something special hardware/software wise that's something awesome and will probably keep the costs down.

Its basically your preference. Both are great devices, its either you want a phablet which you use with two hands or a smartphone you use with one. If your going for an everyday use kind of phone i'd go with the s4. But like the above poster said if you want a phablet just hold off for another month and get the note 3. But if your on an american carrier which I don't think you are then the bootloader would be locked on all the new devices coming out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
I would go for the note if you want gaming , s4 gets hot very fast up to 44c while note never goes above 35c in asphalt 8, also battery lasts longer in gaming with note 2 , only bad thing is note has little bit of micro lag in response @ max details vs s4. Note 3 would be best solution fir gaming or one max when they get out.
In less than a month note 3 will be out ... i think if u are going to buy now it's worth to wait maybe see the first reviews of it and then buy ...
But generally in gaming bigger screen and battery is a big plus ... also if hardware/software optimization is done right this time by samsung the phone will not overheat ... at least not that much as the s4

I don't play games on my mobile, but if I did I would go for Note 2. As I have used it for more than 7 months, I can concur that it was an amazing device. It was smooth, fast and didn't get as hot as my S4. I sold it and bought S4 for only one reason, size. It was way too big for me. I love the overall size of S4. But it stutters more than Note 2, especially I miss the fantastic stock browser of Note 2, the stock browser on S4 is next to horrible. God knows what Samsung have done!
Anyway, I am happy that I bought S4 and sold Note 2, I don't regret my decision a tiny bit, but if someone is happy or comfortable with the size of Note 2 then I see no reason to buy S4 over it.

Good video. One thing to mention, when you said you cannot unroot the device without leaving a flag, you can use Root de la Vega on SD800's and it will not trigger the flag. Just flash stock ROM to wipe root. It's been out for about a week now.
Great video from c4etech as is the case always.
However, I need to mention that at the beginning you had pressed the restart button of the exynos variant a split/second before the slapdragon 800 one's. Well, I am not sure about how would that affected the delay in rebooting of slapdragon one. Just to mention it.

it depends on the upgrade of the os.. s800 has an overheat issue witch decrease maxfreq as fast as you say "hello", it's a thermal ID function witch, when you reach 65°C, system goes from 2.3 to about 1.5 for all 4 cores.. that's why he has less benchmark results
air temperature of the room dissipate the phone overheat.. heater is, more underclocking of the cpu maxfreq
btw, last upgrade of the rom disable the thermal ID for some benchmark apps, and force the governor as a performance, so, all 4 cores turned on + maxfreq for all cores.. so.. that's why you have those results
but.. the real result is what ash had, you only have a fixed one witch values are impossible to uses in normal situation since system underclock the cpu
don't you beleve? run stability test, open system tuner, go to cpu tab, see the maxfreq goes from 2.3 to about 1.5.. and cpu temperature at about 65°C or symilar
try :good:
can you please post "sunspider and browser benchmark" test of them ?
Just my opinion, no offence.
I not sure what you did to the device. Your N9005 is kind of slow, all slow.
My benchmark score is higher anytime than yours.
I can get at least 33k for Antutu after unstop using it, means the phone is kind of hot. 36k for Antutu after cooling down.
As for 3D Mark, I always get Maxed out! for Ice Store & Ice Storm Extreme.
Also I notice you had more background running apps in S800 than Exynos one, at least it show they is one more search apps inside.
Beside this, can't you press together for all the running? It is not that difficult to do so.
I find your benchmark is useless as you not even can do proper in basic things.
Great video, very helpful

E: and please dont create 2 threads just to show something you think is, 'cool'(is there a way to say it without offending anyone?)
Oh spit thats bust my bubble but are they using a stock ROM and hardware? lol ... 2 post are due to the no link policy before you have done 10 posts which I fully understand and I didn't want to be an arse and post smiley face replies or something silly just to get my post count up

nope, only on kernels which version is 3.0101 (excluding s-kernel)
don't be too trusting with the benchmark
Sooo u get 8487 points in antutu, and? I dont see the point of creating new thread in which u will just show us ur score. It would WOW WOW WOW if u would score 9k+
8,5k is normal score.
Btw. if u wanna do screnshot just POW&VOL- or POW&VOL-&HOME depend of firmware
I went with what I could find

These where the results I found before I posted this so all I had to work on. I found plenty of videos images and reviews also stating 4k to 5k but yes after a great deal of in-depth searching I have since found scores of around 84xx but all of them were using a custom rom I'm using a stock rom and as I started with 4333 a score of 8487 is WOW WOW WOW

If you had read my post you quoted you would know why I did a second post and does it really matter

lol, kyrillos and stock can easily reach 8.5k when it comes to antutu v4
Maybe AnTuTu should be ask why scores are higher

As AnTuTulads are members here and if what you are saying is correct (i'm guessing you mean scores are higher in v4 compared to earlier versions) and ask them to explain. Maybe someone like yourself who has a better knowledge than me of past and present scores

I do not understand with Antutu .. when i first used it score satisfactorily, but at the time the score twice to be down, but no setting is changed. I now believe to be lacking any Benchmark Test! :silly:
