I had sent my XT926 in to motorola for repair and when I got it back my imei number was 0 and wouldn't connect to the network. Contacted moto about it and they said they'd take a look at it but that I would have to pay $159 because my phone has physical damage. I've tried fixing it via QPST but the nv item says that the IMEI is write protected. Does anybody have any idea on how to repair my imei number without spending the $159 to have moto fix it?

Hi. I bought a LG VS750 Fathom from ebay 2 months ago. Then I purchased so many unlock code orders from different sellers. However, the only answer I got is "unlock code is not found from the database, sorry.". Then I started to think that maybe my IMEI number has changed before I bought my phone. IMEI isn't written in anywhere on the box or on the phone, it is only appear when I press *#06#. On the box and on the phone, just MEID number is written.
I really need to know that the MEID and the IMEI number fit fot the same device. I asked to Verizon and LG to check but they said they can't check that information.
Do anybody know how can I check my IMEI? Can you please tell me if you how any way to do that?
I'm very desperate, I couldn't unlock my phone. Please help me
Hey dude,
I am one of the victim of LG VS750 Fathom from verizon wireless which came SIM LOCKED like you i have been wandering around for 8 digit unlock code, still no luck! Just want know incase you found any solution or way out of this?
Thnx
This seems to have everything you need on how to retrieve your IMEI

There is no way to check if your imei has changed if you did not have it somewhere to compare.
My Transformer Infinity was working fine for 2 years and suddenly gave up. Had to get the motherboard replaced.
After that, I am not able to unlock my bootloader using the ASUS unlock tool. I get that dreaded "An unknown error occurs...".
I checked for the serial number of the device - it says "unknown". I am thinking this is the reason why I am not able to unlock.
I tried ratchet to fix the serial number - but when I don't know the serial number, I cannot fix it right??
Anyone can help me out here?
Was the repair done under warranty or through an Asus repair facility?
If yes, I would contact them and demand they replace the m-board with one that actually has a serial number. Which bin did they pull it out of????
If you got the board on ebay or some such, I'm afraid you're SOL.
Unlocking after m-board replacement is tricky anyhow due to the serial# and mac address not matching what Asus has in their database, but that is something they could fix if they wanted to. But no serial at all????
Warranty was over by that time. It was an authorized asus centre.
Ya, the serial number shows as unknown only! They said only three months warranty for motherboard.

Hi, I bought locked IMEI Z2 off ebay without knowing it. short story, I got my money back but there one thing that surprise me.
the my IMEI is from other phone LG L5 to be precise and I'm pretty sure it's a Legit Z2 as well, not some chinese made knock off. I also checked my other phone that I got from new (S4, and HD2) they all got the right model.
What I want to know is, is it possible to change the IMEI number? ASFAIK you can't change xperia IMEI number because it's stored somewhere in the partition. and you can't change it because it is security signed and if you change it, would make your device completely useless or hardbricked, unlike softbricked device that you can easily fix.

you should probably return the phone because even if you could change the IMEI, you won't be able to generate a valid IMEI for it.
Well, or you could just put another phone IMEI like he did. I don't know if its possible. I'm not condoning any illegal attempt to change IMEI of stolen phone, just acted out of curiosity. I returned the phone to seller as well.
Its a stolen device.
Whether its a knockoff or not has no relevance.
IMEI can be modified, whether intentionally or accidentally. However, because of the legal implications, no one here will teach you how to.

the best thing happened that u got ur money back, cause you'll never make it work with an other IMEI other then its IMEI.
IMEI can be modify by some sw tools. I suspect it is not a new phone.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy light (SGH-T399N) from MetroPCS for $29 on the prepaid plan last November and never made another payment on the account as I unlocked the phone and placed my T-Mobile prepaid sim card in it and have been using it fine up until a couple of days ago.
Even though I did not sign any contract, MetroPCS has decided that they did not like me only paying them for one months service and have blacklisted the IMEI number of the phone with T-Mobile!
I want to keep using this phone on T-Mobile network and want to *LEGALLY* change enough of the phone with a donor phone's IMEI that is not blocked on the Tmobile network and I do not want to do anything illegal, so I just bought a working SGH-T399 T-Mobile phone that is beat up with a cracked screen, yet is working.
How much of the donor phone do I need to transfer to the blacklisted phone to make it legal?
A. Take the sticker with the IMEI barcode label and transfer that along with the complete EFS directory?
B. Remove the main PCB with the modem chip from the donor phone to the blacklisted phone (It has the IMEI label on the PCB) and transfer it to the new phone that has everything else new?
I'd like to do option A as I have it unlocked already and the modem is different than the Tmobile modem and MetroPCS came with 4.4.2 on it and I have it already tweaked as I want it.
Can I avoid using the old PCB from T-Mobile and just use it as a donor IMEI device and then put it in my parts drawer with no IMEI label?
I'd rather keep the main PCB from the new phone rather than swap to an unknown condition older PCB.

Why doing soo much efforts just simply pay the amount and enjoy till the works :good:
IMEI tampering in any way is illegal in most areas.....and NOT discussed on XDA. Take the previous posters advice, or look to another site for help.

Try unlock it from AT&T by code from HTC premium service and fail, so i think imei was changed before.....is it possible to find stock(factory) IMEI??? after it changed.

The only reason to change a phone IMEI is because the original one is blacklisted. If the IMEI is blacklisted then you are probably dealing with a stolen/lost phone and you should send it back to where it came from. The factory IMEI should be visible on the original box (which I guess you don't have if its a stolen/lost phone). It should also be printed in tiny characters somewhere on the SIM tray.
edit: I just read your other thread and this is a blacklisted imei phone. You should never buy blacklisted imei phones, there are a lot of reasons but the most important one: By buying a blacklisted phones on ebay you are supporting phones thieves. If the IMEI was blacklisted its for a good reason, not because the phone was apparently a demo phone...
