Is this the S4 active? - Galaxy S 4 General

Looks nice but I like more the clean design of the S4.
This is will probably shut all the people saying cheap plastic about the S4
Also, it looks like it has a 8MP sensor and not 13MP like the S4.

It looks smaller than the one on my phone, I might be wrong though :silly:
Anyway, I see why people may love the back, I love it except for the metal.

Great . Does it have FM. I need FM on main Phone.
Hope Samsung enabled FM on this S4

SGS4 i9500 vs. i9505 different camera sensors? Find out here!

So I bought the Octa Core version too and took some pics with both phones. The i9500 seems to win although the SD600 variant is great too. Shame on Samsung for (probably) two different camera senors on each of them. I'll definitely go with the Exynos version.
There's much more detail on the Exynos version (check out the image of the balcony).

The sensors are the same so if there is a difference in quality is not down to that.

That is certainly possible. I remember comparing my faulty HD2 photo quality before I returned it with my newly received one just to see if there was a difference in quality and found there was. Sometimes even identical hardware can throw up different results, especially on something as software dependant as a phone. Those photos don't conclusively prove anything.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA
First of all, many thanks for this!
The dynamic range is noticeably better on the Octa-core, it still captures the texture of the yellow house under direct sunlight while the SD600 version loses it due to the light flow. The Octa-core also has a little more details as expected with zero traces of noise on the clouds. It appears that the SD600 sensors produces some noise even in daylight, so a minimal denoising and some sharpening is required. As said many times before, the differences are not major but noticeable, hope we'll see some more comparisons, thank you very much for these!
i9500: Sony Exmor RS
i9505: Sony Exmor R
anyway Im very satisfied with i9505 photos! just compared your orange house composition and the difference is minimal except better house wall texture and very little noise difference is minimal!
Comparing the two sets i can tell Exynos is slightly better.
It handles dynamic range better.
Although the differences are minimal.About 3-4% better.
I'd like to see some night shoots comparison as well.

9500 is Sony IMX135(Exmor RS)

Sensor and lens are both tremendously important. You're trying to argue against technical facts here backed up by real-world feedback. The RS sensor is simply superior.

I agree that both look great, but can you honestly say that you cannot see a difference in the balcony picture crop?
The balcony and the walls have a lot more details on the i9500 in that photo.
When you zoom in the photo, you can also see a difference in the tree leaves and branches, and other small details.
It's pretty easy to spot now that we have side by side photos.
Concerning the video, I wouldn't trust Xperia photo/video quality after seeing photos from those devices, even though it is Exmor RS (the difference with the S4 is huge, I'm guessing their post processing is really bad).
And as AndreiLux said, both the sensor and lens are important.
That being said, noone is saying you shouldn't be happy with the i9505 camera, I've seen extremely good photos taken with that one, to the point that I didn't know whether is was taken by a i9505 or i9500 (in the photos thread), but you don't have to blindly contradict everything that shows the i9500 as a slightly better camera phone to try to convince yourself, just enjoy yours.
In a few months, there will probably be better ones anyway.

Here you go, a comparison between the Z1 and Note 3, look for the tags under pictures to identify which one is which.
http://www.eprice.com.tw/mobile/talk/4551/4881230/1/rv/sony-xperia-z1-i1-Honami-review/
I'm pretty sure BTW that both the G2 and the N3 uses a newer revision of the Sony Exmor RS sensor (or Exmor R), so far what I've seen from both are impressive, a bit better in low-light than before, but not Lumia level. In any case, results should be good with both and the best thing you can do is simply walking in and feeling out both. The G2 has the OIS advantage where the Note just feels better in the hand with it's non-glossy texture.

From the pictures on that site, N3 pictures look infinitely better than the Z1's (especially the close-up pictures), which is quite a surprise. I'm guessing the Z1 needs a software update to it's camera app, because they advertised the camera as one its biggest selling points, so I'm assuming the hardware is not the thing that is at fault here.

Hey bro, the above link shows an Exynos powered Note 3 and if I remember right, some time before you were suggesting in the S4 forums that the Exynos version of S4 has a superior sensor (Exmor RS) over Snapdragon powered S4 (Exmor R). Do you know if this case holds true with Note 3 variants?
Can people start posting some camera snaps and say whether S800 or Exynos.

Focus on software improvements on the M8.
Everyone complains about the camera, but it's the best smartphone camera I've ever had and I had a iPhone 5S for a minute.
For me the screen is the perfect size.
The only thing I would want to see in a future phone is a bigger battery. If this thing had a bigger battery 2 days would be doable. As it is now the battery is amazing, but it could get better.

I dont know what everyone is complaining about the camera for, I have had 6 m's, 2 at&t and 4 verizon and for me they have all taken good pics I have no complaints about the m8 camera. I think many just complaim because its a low pixel number but thats because its an ultra pixel and not a mega pixel. I think most complain about it just because of a lower pixel number and not about the actual performance of the standard m8's camera.

Never had any issue I just take about 4 or 5 pics of the same and pick the best one, that has always worked for me.
I find this thread VERY depressing as I still have almost 3 years of payments on my current M8. <sigh>
FWIW, I've had an old Blackberry that took much better pics than the M8 (or my Samsung Galaxies but the best camera phone I had was actually a camera with a phone stuck on, a Samsung FlipShot! It was a fairly decent phone and a GREAT little portable camera.

Of course, these are totally obsolete 3G phones but they DID take great pics, proving again the megapixels have very little to do with picture quality.

Would You Like The Flip Camera To Return on The Zenfone 7?

Would u all like to see the flip camera return or go back to the regular front facing camera for the next Zenfone? I'm sure the next Zenfone will be announced in a few months I'm still happy with my 6 but not sure about the camera. According to rumors they got rid of the flip camera. I did love the flip camera for panorama shots and motion tracking I thought those were great ideas.

No: I prefer a notch especially because I miss face unlock.
I love this phone exactly as it is. The camera design is fantastic and mechanically brilliant. Having a phone without a full screen seems insane to me. Either have less screen across the top for the cameras etc or the current configuration. Notches look silly/pointless.

LOL is someone working for Asus making these threads? Zenforum, XDA, Reddit. My understanding is the flip cam was expensive to make, makes the phone expensive to repair, and is the 6 is the worst selling Zenfone. If those facts are true, I highly doubt the next Zenfone will have a flip cam.
My preference would be full screen display, no selfie cam, no notch, non-flip main cam. But that's not going to happen with any manufacturer, I suppose...

Same for me. I virtually never use the face cam and the fact that it cannot be activated without me knowing about it is a huge benefit.
So yes, zenfone 7 with a flip cam would be great (but please use an OLED display).
I prefer it but I rarely use it.
Hell Yeah.. I love the flip screen instead of loading a phone with cameras, helps save some money as well getting a super selfie camera.... will be glad if asus added waterproof phones and a wireless charging as well instead of spending on too many cameras
Zenfone 6 is unconvincing in year 2020 - fringerprint in the back, low freq display, slow USB, slow UFS, behind in 2 generations of cpu. So it's a no from me but it caught my interest for vanilla OS, battery, SD, jack. Since Zenfone 7 will have a notch, literally destroying one of 2 highlights of the phone, i consider this model series dead to me.

Absolutely yes. I'm considering getting a successor to the Zenfone 6 whenever it comes, but I'll only do it if it still retains this mechanism.
1. This alleviates some privacy issues of always having a camera pointed at you, not knowing if it's recording or not.
2. Selfie quality obviously is a huge factor.
3. Pano shots
4. rear fingerprint unlock is anyway faster than face unlock, and more importantly more reliable
This is the USP.. why wouldn't I go with so many other options otherwise...
Please retain the flip front camera!
Other requests: Change the screen to AMOLED. Add a tele lens as well.

Same.
The whole reason for the Zenfone 6 was the uniqueness of the flip camera. It's time to improve the camera, add a larger sensor, a better IPS display(many manufacturers are going back to IPS LCD these days, so it'd be great if they use a better quality IPS screen), and keep just 1 model with 2Gbps LTE, and 4 or 5Gbps 5G NR instead of model A, model B, model C.
Asus had a lot of production problems last year. I hope that's not the same this year too.
Zenfone 6 came in the news on 3rd April last year. It's already 5th April, and no news of the Zenfone 7. I hope they don't disappoint us by launching it with a notch, or a front facing selfie.

Why new phones have 3 or more cameras?

I don't understand why new phones have a lot of cameras and only one camera have a lot of mpx other have 8mpx or less, is it so hard to make 1 better camera than fill whole back of the phone? Also cameras stick out on new phones so is easier to break it. I think is better to make just one camera with e.g 48mpx than 3 more. Also in my opinion professional camera should be to making photos than normal smartphone.

Multiple cams because there's inadequate space for a optical zoom lense.
It's just marketing thing. 3 cameras are "better" than one good main camera.
All these 8MP ultrawide cameras and 2MP macro cameras are pretty much trash.

My 12mp ultra wide does ok even with the fixed focus. When you can't pan back ultra wides are your only option.
My biggest complaint is that the cameras aren't well protected. A sapphire lens cover would be fairly scratch resistant, but would probably add a bit to the cost.

A good case is all that's needed. I live in the desert (sand and grit everywhere) and this N10+ is 3.5 yo has zero scratches or mars on the factory cam protector.
Case it, keep your fingers off the cam protector and clean with a dry microfiber cloth occasionally. No fuss or bother.
They are generally cheap and easy to replace if damaged.
