I have a Nokia 6210 Navigator, that got wet, I disassemble it, even the metal sheets, I dry it all I could, but nothing changed.
That was two years ago, and today I found it and I want to give it another shoot.
I'm gonna explain what the mobile can do, with this video:
It seems that the screens turns on (black screen), then it makes sounds like the battery is low, but is charging, and if you press the ON button it turns on the keys leds. Thats it.
I don't know what I can do, I have a tester but where I start? When I disassemble it all looks ok.
I know this is not the best forum to post it, if you know any better site to to ask fot it :good:
Here is an official disassembly video, but it don't say what to test or look for.
PD: Well I finally got all the info, but is massive and I don't know if I can do anything with it
Nokia shematics: http://elektrotanya.com/nokia_6210n_[rm-367]_schematics_sch.pdf/download.html
And the Reapir service manual for nokia technicians http://elektrotanya.com/nokia_6210n_[rm-367]_l34.pdf/download.html
And the Nokia service Software http://www.cpkb.org/wiki/Nokia_Phoenix_Service_Software
Nothing to do with the software as I expected, the phone does not start. Software itself works, I tested other phones.
The navigator seams to respond in "some" way to a hard reset, it vibrates for a moment.
Time to retire...

Hello,
I just became a owner of a SPV-M1000 - a sad owner :?
This device just dont want to turn on the backligth. I have been thou settings, manual, tried severel profiles ect. Still without resault. I could really use help on this one
I have not yet d/l any updates atall or patches yet and I really doubt that the backligth in this device is defect.
Also - I dont quite know wich model the "Orange SPV-M1000" is, but its is very identically with the third illustration from the rigth on this forum front page.
Best regards & Thank you,
Skipper
you can toggle the backlight by holding down the on off button for awhile
that is unless it's broken
I just learned a new future there - yes, but it did not solve my problem. I have now been in touch with a repairs shop and the technichian had a very hard time to belive that the display backligth was malfunctioning and that it must be a user error. I dont belive that..
A new display is pretty expensive and before I buy this i´d kinda hoped that someone else had a more experience know-how in this area before I purchases this.
Btw - if it comes to buy a new display do anyone know where on the net this can be done. I was thinking change it myselves.
have you tried hardreseting it just to in case ?
if the backlight dont come on when it gets to the calibrate screen and such i would say it's defect
and if it's under warrenty first ½ year the orange guy have to prove that you broke it or give you a new one
I just bougt a used display from a companig that had the same model that had a damaged chassic - pretty cheap .. And it works, perfect.
Now I have to install all the latest software and drivers for both the device and computer. I will try look around the net for this but if you maby would be kind and guide me, would be great.
Thanks
I flashed the HTC factory rom a few weeks back, and now (not because of the flashing) my screen is broken. I think I sweat on it and it has caused the connectors to be intermitent. The water damage sticker is luckily still white I have alreay flashed the ATT stock back onto the unit, but without screen viewability, I can't run KAIS-SPL. You can here the ATT swoosh sounds on startup. The screen works about 5% of the time, so do I chance sending it back with HardSPL still on it as they might not be able to verify. The 5% chance scares me. Is it possible to put ATT SPL without having the screen work? Lastly, is there a command line interface to remotely activate KAIS-SPL?
Thanks,
brux2dc
FYI. This unit is still within the 30 days, but i am sure they will check it before issuing a credit.
get it replaced. try in store first since you're within ur 30 days.
if you need to go through warr exchange, have no fear. ive sent back 6 kaisers lol
one had a chunk missing outta the corner. another, the pixels went green and wack. another had a replaced screen and that screen had an "oil" spot and the hinge was all loose. no fees.
the only thing i would worry about is them replacing the screen and seeing salt from your sweat. even water leaves a green residue at times on electronics.
oh, and if you dont wanna do that, you can grab a refurb from ATT or another seller for cheap. all my refurbs were lnib
Yeah, I bought mine over the internet through the FAN site. Unfortunately It would be easy to show the clerk in a store how messed up this phone is. I"ll just send it without worrying about the SPL. I haven't seen the screen all day, so I guess it is FUBAR!
6 phones? Is this phone really that crappy quality wise? Should I get a different phone. Although this phone has everything I could want in a phone (for the time being )
Thanks

This phone is NOT CRAPPY (except the video DRIVERS).
It actually depends on people's use. I personally keep my phones away from all the hazards and on cases (leather, silicone...) If anything happens to it its just BADLUCK.
My opinion is If you are happy with your phone then do not get a different one.
This would work, if you could install it...
There is a program that might help you, SOTI pocket controller pro. It will let you control your phone from the computer... the only problem is installing it. You would need to be able to hit the check box. It might be possible to have it installed automatically with UC, but another, more knowledgeable member would need to give advice for this one.
If you do get the program on your phone, you should be able to revert it to factory. As another post already said, you may be fine anyway as I doubt a new phone under warranty will be heavily scrutinized by ATT.

this is false, when i freshly flash a new device and it dont have soti installed then i just open soti on the computer and hit connect. It then installs the cab with no prompts. SOTI would work very well in this instance!
wow 6 phones, and here i'm getting mad about 4, i'm still waiting for att to send me one that works, i guess my 4 isn't that bad at all.
and at op sogun is correct, SOTI works great used it to take the contacts off my hermes when the screen broke. but i took that phone apart to the mother board and did it that way cause i couldn't remember how to put it back together
thanks for the help.
I'll look into SOTI.

Hi All, I've down a fair bit of web searching but haven't found a reason as to why this would be happening. So here goes:
Basically, I bought the Asus P525 when it was about 9 months old, and after about 4 months it decided to flash this up on my screen - Invalid or Missing Sim Card. It seemed to fix itself, however, and I had another week of using it. Then, it did it again, and fixed itself again shortly after, but it wasn't long before it was dong it so often that the phone became unusable. It would flash that up, and usually stay that way, it would become a rarer thing for it to fix itself. So, back to my crappy old nokia with half working buttons I went, telling myself I should ring an Asus repair center and talk to them about it. Anyway, a couple of months later I got around to ringing them, they told me they'd probably have to replace the mainboard, and it could cost me more to do that than to get a replacement phone. Not very impressed as I was, I decided to boot the phone back up, and amazingly it worked again, and gave me another week of usage before packing it in. Now it's stopped working, so I tried different roms and different firmware, to see if that would fix it... nope.
So here I am. Anybody experienced this? Any idea what I can do? I don't have heaps of bucks to throw around on phones, I really like this phone except for this obvious problem, so would like to keep using it. But I don't think the future looks bright for it
Any help is extremely appreciated.
Thanks
Matt
Seems I've asked the impossible...? Anybody have any ideas? I'm going out of my brain trying to work this one out...
Matt
It seems noone in this part of the forum likes to answer questions I'm afraid.
As to your problem, it's likely a hardware fault and theres a loose connection betweeb SIM and phone somewhere.
You could try cleaning the contacts with an electrical contact cleaner solution sprayed on a cotton bud and wipe the pins that sit on the SIM.
Maybe you could also try using a needle underneath the pins and gently pull them up so that they make better contact with the SIM (maybe some are bent).
Bear in mind, I have no experience with this device and the sensible option would be to take it to a repair shop for service.
Hope that helps.
yeah I know what you mean
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried to bend the pins up but that didn't work. I haven't tried cleaning the contacts... sadly though I think that may not be the issue. I'll definitely give that a go, I'll try just about anything, because obviously if I can't get it to work it will just sit in my girlfriend's car so she can use the maps and camera on it. Seems such a sad waste really...
thanks again for your help
Matt
I just powered it up, and it's working again. God knows for how long though... could it be a battery or cpu issue?
Greetings all. I'm not convinced my problem is specifically related to the One S, and I certainly haven't got anywhere near rooting yet, but you Guys are expert at nosing round in the bowels of this phone & the OS, and I'm getting totally flummoxed as to where I've gone wrong.
I've owned this phone since June and it was originally locked to O2, was unlocked and used on Giffgaff, an O2 offshoot - probably irrelevant. One of the apps I particularly wanted to use was Google Sky Map, duly installed and run successfully for a day or so. Other apps installed, as one does, but when I came back to Sky Map, the app was frozen, as were seemingly all compass function apps.
Various uninstalls & reinstalls later, a system reset and a factory reset and this function still was inactive. Returned to HTC for fixing. No better - all worked OK for a short while then stopped. Returned again and this time internals were swapped ,but now the microphone wouldn't work. Third return and an unlocked sim-free handset was returned.
As soon as I loaded my profile from Google, initially it worked, but later most of the sensors again seemed to fail. I've tried the full factory reboot then logged in with a totally new Gmail account, but no change. Phone Tester app shows only readings from proximity and light sensors - no gyroscope, compass, mag. field or accelerometer. Accelerometer did show one set of readings this morning, but nothing since. Lookout AV has always been installed. Incidentally, almost exactly the same profile worked perfectly well on my previous phone, a Wildfire S.
Should I shoot myself or the phone? I admit I'm not any sort of phone expert, but I don't think I'm that dense as to so consistently screw this thing up.
Any ideas people please, in (moderately) simple terminology?
Ok maybe you could shoot google, maybe its a fault by them.
If I helped in anyway please hit thanks
Thank you for the oh-so-helpful response.
Just in case one of the myriad readers of this thread should have just a quiver of interest ................. I believe I've found the answer.
It's always been difficult to pinpoint the problem, and certainly HTC haven't twigged what's happening, as before I sent the phone back to them I TOOK THE FLIP CASE OFF!
That's why it would work for a short while after return, until I replaced the case. I can only guess there's something like Carbon Black in the plastic back shell, and that's what's been interfering with the sensors.
It may also be relevant to the big Home Button problem, with the screen flipping between Home & Helicopter views. Has anyone investigated whether there could be sufficient signal degradation to trigger this problem caused by the use of a case?
Sweetness and light to all.
I spoke to an HTC rep, and he said they would not give an unbranded handset back. If that's the case, I want my phone unbranded. I'll take it to them and hopefully get an unbranded one.
Well good for your HTC rep. They can't go giving out unbranded sets like that. What is the World coming to?
Notwithstanding - the previous clutter of O2 apps was pleasantly noticeable by its absence as was the O2 splash screen.
What a lucky little customer I am and it's only taken 4 months to sort out.
Hey guys..
Tried to find same question here if it's posted.. but not.. so here goes.. A bit of a long type.. but please do bear with me.
I bought xoom wifi while i was in Japan from Au KDDI. But now I am posted in a different country. (we are talking about almost 5 hours of GMT) difference . And in this country, they don't even have a Motorola official dealer. So professional tech support is WAY WAY out of the question and a luxury hard to come by.
Here's the problem... I am sure this must have been asked somewhere else.. nevertheless.
I have been having the Xoom wifi for over a year now and it's been working darn perfectly. It has gone with me through desserts to snow capped mountains and literally been to both Hell and Heaven and worked Solidly without a wisp of a problem. Always have been rough hardy and like a thoroughbred horse which never had let me down when I needed the most. I just love this device so darn much.
Last night., i took some pictures and was using an app to "hide" them. (well., not of the obvious type you are thinking) but more related to medical evidence. There were some 300 odd pics so it was taking time. I left the xoom to finish it..... when i picked it up later.. the work was finished but now my entire gallery was showing as "no images / videos".. also all the MP3 were shown as missing but actual files were there in the folders.
I searched the web and it said that I have to "force stop" the "Image gallery" service in the settings > applications> all menu (name could be wrong as I can't remember it now) and allow the xoom to rebuild it's gallery references.
Did so.. and...nothing happened.. still the Gallery shows as "no images / videos"
So... did the next obvious thing of shutting down the device and tried to restart it.
well .. that was it
Xoom doesn't restart... no logo is showing ... nothing.. complete dead. I am sure i have more than 75% of the battery.
Tried all the key combinations of up, down , power keys... numerous times and in duration.. nothing. I charged the battery till the green light comes up..then tried some more variations..
Then suddenly, i heard my email notification sounds.... and the skype chat sounds.... when I checked the wifi router.. it shows that the xoom is connected. So basically the device is switched on and working perfectly it seems without display.
I really have no way of getting professional tech help at least for another 6-7 months. Can't ship it out as it would be cheaper for me to buy a new one. and to top it all, my warranty is over last June.
the device is as it's bought .. no modifications, rootings or flashing done to it. Just the usual updates rolled out only.
If the device had a slow death.. i would accept it and even would give it a proper farewell with a bouquet of flowers as it had been through a lot with me. But this sudden drop dead act is something I cannot accept.
So.... HELP... greatly appreciated.

HDMI Oout to a TV. IF the option isn't enabled let me know if your screen still responds to touch, just doesnt put anything out. If it responds to touch then you're good to enable HDMI OUT

Problem solved.
Let me jot down the process here for future reference if anyone else come up with the same problem
My problem = Xoom working ( i can hear the notifications, chat sounds etc)... but no display. No display what so ever at all... Nothing.. zip.. zero..
Tried and Failed = soft reset, volume up down combo buttons, holding them down for varies duration of times... cursing colourfully, threatening with abandonment and death, shaking it violently and blasphemy against the all mighty with a "Y u No work xoom" face !! ... non of that worked.
Solution = I narrowed it down to three problems.
1. Battery gone kaput !
2. The power button had worn or broken off
3. Display cables are at a fault
So..i figured that I have to rip it open to get a look at these and thanks to ifixit... got the guide.... and burrowed a set of tools from a friend
1. Took the cover off... and the top cover off as well.. so left with a half naked xoom
2. Checked the power button carefully... to see if there were any faults... NOP .. it was working fine
3. Moved on the to next .. battery ... seems ok (actually there was no way of checking it.. but it looked fine and the connectors were ok) so I figured that its ok and best not to fiddle with it.
4. well.. the connector cable seemed fine... but unlike what they have it in ifixit.. mine were separate cables attached (not as a ribbon) .. and i felt that it might be the cause of the problems as it seems have got a little rusty and seems to have moisture on it.
5. "Hey.. babe... where's your nail polish remover?? " .. with that question.. got it for "free" and carefully dabbed it and started cleaning the cables.
6. Half way through and ... "THERE WAS LIGHT" ... the screen just lit up
7. Have a smug on your face for actually "fixing" something without breaking it more beyond repair....take away all the death threats...thank the lord and make a deal with him to forget the things you said as you didn't mean it... check if all your data is till there without being mucked up.....walk like a boss showing people or spouse "see I bloody fixed it.. who da man now eh???"
Thanks a load to all who have put in their two cents trying to help out... love ya all
