might be a simple fix - Android Stick & Console Computers General

ok so i just got mk808 android stick.
came home plugged it into my tv via hdmi - mini hdmi adaptor
plugged in the usb power to a 5v - 2amp charger from my nexus 7
the screen on my tv switched over to hdmi 1 blue screen,.......and thats all
i dont have a clue what ido to start it up or anything?
i got a mele air mouse 10 thrown in the deal too which is working on my tab but yeah how do i start up this thing? the blue light comes on and the tv switched to hdmi but thats all.

The MK808 has a blue light that has to be on when powered and blinking when streaming from the net. It shoud boot up by itself after you plug it in.
Check to see that your TV is set to the right HDMI input.
I have mine on HDMI 1. Make sure that yours matches your MK808 HDMI input.
Other than that, try another TV.....

thanks for your reply i managed to get it working today with a new usb cable now happily using but trying to find a way to switch it of from remote,. "air mouse f10"

If yours is rooted, install "Rom Toolbox" that it have a widget called "Reboot".
Clicking that will give you all the settings ....

To reboot: instead of the full ROM Toolbox, which BTW is a great app, try Reboot Menu (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDIxMiwib3JnLnJpY2VrbmlnaHQuZ3MycmVib290Il0). That's all it does, it gives you reboot options (you must be rooted).

got the power menu app cheers
anyone had any experience getting another tablet to work as touchpad?

Try MK 802 lll remote app. Works on a lot of these.

You don't want to just just "pull the plug" (or flip the switch) on the unit, it could cause filesystem corruption....

[Q] Mouse support?

Can you plug in a USB mouse and use it with an on-screen cursor? I would be useful for Flash games. I have seen some vids of tablets with mice and keyboards, but no info on how its done.

In the video i saw the user had the vegan rom and just plugged in the usb for the mouse and the keyboard into a usb hub which was hooked into the tablet and he was able to move both around, not sure if its just with that rom or not, as im still waiting until xmas to hopefully be getting mine. he did say that wireless mouse and keyboards do not work.
CM6 rom works with bluetooth mice and keyboards simultaneously.
Any thoughts on BT Keyboards or Mouses?
Hahah Answered while looking for my Password. Thanks.

From what ive Noticed when using the Mouse it works just like your finger would so no scrolling (Atleast on CM6) and use click and hold to go up n down pages. So it might or might not. somone has to try it :x Give me a website and ill try it.
Could you try like a desktop tower defense game that would require selecting and placing objects?
Id like to know if any support a USB kb/mouse combo like the Logitech EX100. I plugged it in, but the mouse didnt do anything. I was hoping this would be slam dunk.

Quick dock test on TnT Lite

Just a heads up - I just got a dock care of one of the XDA members here (their donation to me - and thank you, btw). This is the zPad dock. My tests were all done on TnT Lite 3.1.2.
HDMI "just works" - plug it in and the output will show up on your HDMI output (in my case, it was a TV). Sound is also passed through, but seems to have a slight lag.
Ethernet "just works" - plug it in and the device is on the network. I'm not sure if there's a way to disable it, other than pulling the Ethernet port out.
Finally, the USB port also seems to work - I tested it with my USB keyboard. So, it seems like the TnT devs already built the kernel / UI with the dock in mind. I haven't tested the VEGAn build, yet.
EDIT: Just tested VEGAn 1.0.0 beta 4. USB / Ethernet / HDMI all seem to work. In the case of VEGAn, I actually tested HDMI off my PC monitor (which happens to have some cheapo speakers on them) and there's no audio lag. Perhaps it's something device specific, or cable specific.
EDIT2: Ethernet is now failing on VEGAn. I guess I spoke too soon.
Thanks for the tests. As for Ethernet, I wonder if u need to disable the wifi on the gtab when using the Ethernet on the dock?

More Ethernet testing - it seems that it's a DNS issue of some sort. IP ICMP tests definitely work.
Does HDMI out work without the dock being powered?

Yes, LAN is working. It appears you must boot Tablet with LAN connected and tablet in doc for it to recognize it.... I say recognize it, but when you launch browser you get a notice box that says page can not be displayed due to no connection.. but you just check ok, the box goes away and you are online.

Can we get a link to the dock you bought?
Thanks for the confirmation! Looks like I'm going to return this and get the elocity just for that HDMI port...

Interesting that I can use the internet, I can retrieve my comcast email, but I could not run my exchange email. When I would refresh it, it just sat idle. when I resumed my wifi connection, it immediately downloaded my messages.
The LAN does need some work here by the Devs for sure. It also stopped for some reason and I had to reboot to reconnect it.

[Q] Shattered phone - can I access my photos?

Hi,
To cut a long story short, my four day old phone was run over by a bus last night and the screen shattered making it unresponsive to any touch, though the phone itself is still "working". I have a pattern lockscreen which I obviously can't undo and Android File Transfer won't let me see the data on the phone until it's unlocked - is there any way I can access the photos I have taken on the phone (they didn't upload to the cloud because I wasn't on wifi)?
If it's relevant, the bootloader is unlocked.
Thanks,
F
First up, count yourself lucky that you were not talking on the phone at the time
You should be able to get them by plugging the phone into your pc should enable you to get your photos from it.

I was running to catch said bus, tripped, phone went flying, bus moved off and crushed the phone!
I have a Mac and use Android File Transfer which won't recognise the device until the lockscreen is cleared - do you think I'll have more luck if I plug it into a Windows PC?
Should do. I am able to get stuff from mine by just plugging it into my Surface 2
Much appreciated - I'll post again after I've found someone with a Windows-based laptop.

Yup, that's an idea.
Or you have USB debugging enabled, try adb pull command?
The story so far - I connected the OPO to a Windows PC and it was recognised as a Portable Media Device. That's where the story ends - no files were shown.
When I carried out the same procedure with my Nexus 5, I had to switch between MTP and PTP for any files to be shown on the PC - when initially plugged in (in MTP), nothing was shown but when switched to PTP, all the photos popped up and when switched back to MTP, all data on the OPO was shown.
Obviously, I can't change the USB setting on the OPO. However, now the battery has run down, I can reboot the OPO into fastboot or recovery if required (USB debugging is enabled) with stock recovery. Is there a way of transferring data from the OPO when in recovery or fastboot mode? If there is, a step-by-step guide would be extremely appreciated.
I wasn't able to switch off the phone once the screen was damaged. Is there a way to force it to switch off using only the buttons?
Thanks,
F

I'd say it will work.
I don't own an Opo, but I can do this in all my cm devices without doing anything. It's possible to past the lock screen. I'd ask someone with an Opo and otg cable to test it for you.

In my S4 I can do that. You need to hold the left button and complete your pattern.
Thank you so much to all who replied and sympathised with my predicament.

The OTG cable I ordered from ebay arrived this morning - I connected my mouse to the phone via the OTG cable and, voila, I was able to do everything as if the touchscreen was still working.

In other news, the replacement OPO arrived this morning!

Wireless Xbox 360 Controller not connecting through OTG USB

Hey, I've just found out I can connect lots of USB devices with my new unrooted S7, and after trying to plug in the wireless hub for X360 controllers, it just won't connect to my controller. Can I do anything to make this work or do I need to root the phone first?
Thanks
My 360 controller isn't working either, it works on every other android device I have, including old phones. Is this the work of samsung ?

Mine works perfectly when I connect my controller via OTG USB.. Are you talking about the attachment that came with the phone (that is intended to transfer stuff from your old phone to the new phone?)
I pretty much plugged mine in using that, all I had to do was to configure the buttons in my game I wanted to play. HOWEVER, my 360 controller is wired. Maybe you could try getting a wired one rather than a wireless one.
BTW root is not possible for all US variants (bootloader is locked). Only the Exynos model is rootable.
Mine is the UK variety whichever chip that is. I'm using an otg adaptor that works fine on my other devices but not the s7.

[[[[[[FIXED!!!]]]]two things but i really recommend the second option i will explain.. FIRST THING IS FIRST MAKE SURE UR PHONES USB DEBUGGING IS ON... EASY TO TURN IT ON.. GO TO SETTING , TAP ON ABOUT PHONE, TAP ON SOFTWARE INFORMATION TAP ON BUILD INTILL U SEE THE MESSAGE U ARE SO MANY TAPS AWAY FROM BECOMING A DEVELOPER. KEP TAPPING AND WELLA U R NOW A DEVELOPER .. BACK TO SETTINGS SCROLL ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM SELECT DEVELOPER OPTIONS TURN ON THEN SCROLL DOWN TILL U SEE TURN ON USB DEBUGGING. PS U SHOULD HAVE THIS ON ANY WAY CAUSE IF U LOSE UR PHONE U WONT BE ABLE TO USE FIND DEVICE TO LOCATE UR PHONE.. ALSO WELL U R IN THE DEVELOPER OPTIONS GO AHEAD AND TURN OF WINDOW ANIMATION TRANSITION ANIMATION AND ANIMATOR DURATION SCALE YA DONT NEED THEM AND WATCH HOW MUCH FASTER UR PHONE WILL BE .. OK NOW WHAT YA ALL COME FOR (1) u can download usb/bt joycentre 2018 its green pic of joystick and following this video on how to use it..
.. now im jus saying but i have a generic x-box game pad controller i purchesed from walmart its corded no bluetooth option and tried this with the s7 edge and no luck the app said usb not reconized. u might have luck with a real xbox controller tho cause they support bluetooth and there is an option in the app to do the patch via blue tooth. U DO NOT NEED A ROOTED PHONE FOR THIS.. NO ROOT!! i dont have a ps3 controller to see if it works but the guy in the video that is what he uses and it worked .. now heres the funny thing .. what i got to work was a knock of ps3 controller off amzone.. i use an otg cable plugged it in to the controller plugged the other end into my phone and works like a charm as soon as i plugged it in.. now if it doesnt work give it a second or hold the ps3 home button down for a sec .. i swear this works. https://www.amazon.ca/Controller-Wi...2A9WRGN9BAB&psc=1&refRID=T73ZTYBBQ2A9WRGN9BAB.. now heres the funny part and was so freaking frustrating my walmart wired xbox game pad works on my new samsung tablet a7 but the ps3 controller wont.. the ps3 controller works on my s7 edge but the xbox controller wont. i was about to do bAck flips lol when i decided to just try a ps3 knock off controller and batta bing batta boom COD HERE I COME LMAO.. HOPE THIS HELPS MANG
ok so the wireless version of the xbox 360 controller connected with a cable to the controller then to the phone via the otg cable will not work, as it is not supported wireless, or a wireless controller with a cable attached to it.
only wired xbox 360 controllers will work.

Hi GDHAMTON7,
Good evening.
I have two questions (maybe you can shed some light on)
- What app are you using on the laptop side? DEX "PC" app doesn't work wireless for me. Are you using "Connect" app? Other?
- If you are using "Connect" or other app on the PC, can you interact with the DEX screen using your Laptop (PC) mouse and keyboard? I can only use Keyboard for a few minutes, and mouse only "Bluetooth" if connected directly to the Phone itself.
I Can only do it, using the Host PC mouse and keyboard on the "wired" DEX app, or using (less complete experience) "wireless" YOURPHONE app (that crashes a lot and requires a "reset" to function again).
So currently wireless DEX (for me) is only valid on TV connections.
PC's only wired...
Thanks.
Regards.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
Okay upon going thru the post history I saw it (post 10), but that uses\calls "Connect" app, not the Samsung DEX app (which states it requires Wired USB connection).
And the same (only PC keyboard is allowed, not Mouse), if we want any mouse control we must either connect a mouse directly to the phone, or use the phone itself as a mouse trackpad.
I think this is a Windows limitation, because while using the same "Wireless DEX" feature on 3 different TV's:
Sony (Android)
LG (WebOS)
Samsung
I'm able to control the touch/mouse within DEX, using any TV built in Air mouse, no issues at all.
Are you able to use your Mobile PC mouse on the "Projection" image coming from (Phone) DEX to the PC (Connect)?
Thanks again,
Regards,
I am... I have a Lenovo legion y530... With graphics card. Not sure if that makes a difference.
