[Q] Mouse support? - G Tablet General

Can you plug in a USB mouse and use it with an on-screen cursor? I would be useful for Flash games. I have seen some vids of tablets with mice and keyboards, but no info on how its done.

In the video i saw the user had the vegan rom and just plugged in the usb for the mouse and the keyboard into a usb hub which was hooked into the tablet and he was able to move both around, not sure if its just with that rom or not, as im still waiting until xmas to hopefully be getting mine. he did say that wireless mouse and keyboards do not work.

CM6 rom works with bluetooth mice and keyboards simultaneously.

Any thoughts on BT Keyboards or Mouses?
Hahah Answered while looking for my Password. Thanks.

From what ive Noticed when using the Mouse it works just like your finger would so no scrolling (Atleast on CM6) and use click and hold to go up n down pages. So it might or might not. somone has to try it :x Give me a website and ill try it.

Could you try like a desktop tower defense game that would require selecting and placing objects?

Id like to know if any support a USB kb/mouse combo like the Logitech EX100. I plugged it in, but the mouse didnt do anything. I was hoping this would be slam dunk.

[Q] USB Mouse and Keyboard

Is there anything I need to do/install to get my mouse or keyboard to work on 3.1? When I plug them in, nothing happens. I've also tried plugging in my iPhone and an Xbox 360 controller, just to see if there is any response to any of them to show that the Xoom sees them.
I have a wired mouse and wireless keyboard (I figured keyboard wouldn't work). I'm trying to figure out if I may just have a bad OTG adapter.
Bluetooth keyboards work just fine.
You won't get any notifications or popups when you plug in a device, they will just start working (eg, you can just start typing with the keyboard).
Yeah I assumed they would just start working, but I wasn't sure if my wireless keyboard would work. I know when I am, for example, installing windows the keyboard works before drivers get installed, just not to the full extent.
I need help on this aswell... anyone?
I was wondering about this aswell. Doesn't it need to download drivers for the keyboard/mouse to work? Also since there's only one USB plug, would a hub work to get like a keyboard and mouse working at the same time?
And would wireless work?

Does the Touchpad/WebOS support a mouse?

If it did, it would make things about 3 times easier for me. A multitouch desktop trackpad would be even better.
you can pair a bluetooth mouse with the touchpad and it shows the icon for the mouse in the preferences but it doesnt work for anything. if youre asking if it can be used as a remote mouse for a computer then im not sure theres an app for that.
Thanks for the reply. I was referring to the former. So WebOS recognizes that a mouse is paired?

it pairs with the mouse but its greyed out and isnt available to be used with anything
Ah OK. I wonder if we'll ever be able to get it functional. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?
WTF ? My Microsoft Mouse Notebook 5000 is found on WebOs, but he don't want to pair :'(
I want use my mouse on a chroot... (Linux Ubuntu)

BT keyboard that works.

I bought this $20 keyboard on eBay and it is working in both webOS and Android. In webOS, the bluetooth "wizard" will display a "key" and you type that "key" on the bt keyboard and press enter. In Android settings, you first type a "key" via the Android "on screen" keyboard and touch OK, and then type the same "key" on the bt keyboard and press enter.
Most bluetooth keyboards and mice are HID compliant so they will work. The Touchpad keyboard loads a generic Microsoft HID driver when I connect it to my laptop.

That's nice to know. I sure wish somebody had assured me of that when I was searching this site for what to buy. Where were you then?

I'm with you. When I tried this forum for what keyboard, I certainly didn't get that reassurance.
Bought it, works great!
I grabbed this exact keyboard to use for longer email and work messages. It paired easily and works wonderfully. My touchpad just got more useful!
I got a different one that works pretty good as well (designed for ipad though) and it only works in the CM9 ICS bricked rom that I have installed, not on webOS or CM7. Is a very nice keyboard + case just faces the same troubles most of these cases do (not latching the separating parts together when closed) but it is very good non the less.. Your post makes it sound like you got the one I linked and you didn't. Don't know why the one you did get doesn't work with CM7 or webOS, but the one I linked does. And it cost less than $20 shipped.
Yea I rephrased my statement, not the best with words sometimes. The case and keyboard I got (mainly got because it had to withstand the kids getting it) is more expensive, but instead of starting a new thread though I would share some experiences with BT keyboard (pros and cons) instead of starting another thread about the one I got.
Yes just about any blueetooth keyboard should work. I got this a couple months ago and it works great, plus has a little joystick for a mouse, which works well in CM7 but even better in ICS.

In CM7 and CM9 a standard HID bluetooth mouse will work with a cursor, the scroll wheel will also work. I'm not sure if it would work in WebOS.

Yes, there's a cursor that displays on the screen in CM7 or CM9. In webos the mouse just spits out random characters when you try and use it.

i bought this mouse off amazon....it is HID and connects to ics but wen connected i see a cursor for one split second then it disappears and the mouse will not work.if i could get a link to a proper mouse that is proven that would be most helpful. also wen i had cm7 on tp the mouse would connect cursor would show and "work" but was very flighty and unmanageable. would love to find the right mouse for tp so splashtop would be in full effect.

[Q] External Keyboard and Mouse Driver

anyone knows how I do it or where I find this?

The last time I tested a USB mouse and keyboard on one of aorth's CyanogenMod builds, they both worked great. To use both together you would need a OTG USB Hub adapter so you could have at least two USB ports.
Or you could use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Or you could use a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse with a USB keyboard/mouse and then you just need a OTG USB single port adapter.
I don't know of anybody who has messed around with drivers.
Several folks posted their experiences with external keyboards on this thread on the Accessories board. And here's another thread about keyboard and mouse combinations.
Just an FYI on this one, most USB mice / keyboards can function generically as HID devices.
Android has had built-in support for that sort of input for a long time, which is why pretty much any USB keyboard out there should be "plug & play".
Bluetooth is slightly more complicated, but generally also plug & play.
Obviously, if you have a crazy keyboard or mouse with 18 extra buttons on it and a display screen or something, that stuff probably won't work since there's no driver specifically for that device.
However, such devices "should" still function as normal keyboards, just as they do under most Linux distributions.

Bluetooth mouse works, but shows no pointer

cm-12.1-20151201-0115-UNOFFICIAL-p5100 and gapps-5.1.x-20150404-minimal-edition-signed installed with clean install.
Okay so far.
Bluetooth mouse pairing okay.
Mouse wheel and mouse buttons work.
But there is no visible mouse pointer.
Tested with two mice, an old microsoft mouse and a new samsung, both showing the same behavior.
Is there any solution or workaround?
By the way, this is a great forum.
Installing custom roms on my old p5100 is a new topic for me for a few days.
The forum here was a great help, without I would never have come so far.
Thanks to all members especially android-andi!
I forgot to mention that I use the Bluetooth Mouse in conjunction with the Samsung Keyboard Dock.
So I get a nice little platform for editing scripts, texts and with AIDE some light Java developing.
A working mouse would be very helpful.
But even without charged Keyboard Dock driver no mouse pointer appears.
Is nobody except me missing the bluetooth mouse pointer?

Its not just a mouse problem but a problem in software part ( disabled cursor layer )
look at what Android-Andi has said.

Mouspointer fix won't be merged by CM as it's a workaround only to fix it. Need to find a different way of fixing it.
