I haven't flashed to any Tom's yet, but this seems to be the most popular. Why is that? I looked at the change log and I don't understand what I would be gaining I guess.

same too me, I tried it over 3.1, what I experienced:
- browser little bit slower
- more SOD
- nothing real extra feature
I have to use a custom rom for a couple of reasons:
1) My stock rom is the Chinese verison, which means no google apps or google sync. Without google, it's just not android.
2) I need the Chinese input methods. I would normally switch to the USA stock rom, but it doesn't have Chinese input. Prime does/did, Chinese handwriting input is MIA, but I'll sure it will be taken care of.
I choose to use a custom rom for these reasons:
3) I don't like excess crap on my computer. I can modify a custom rom before I install it, mostly just removing apps that I will never use.
4) Root! I love freedom on my computer. Root lets me do things. All kinds of neat things: block ads, increase speed on sd card, delete/modify system apps and directories, and lots more. Look into it, it is fun.
5) Overclock. Prime doesn't have it, but you can add a kernal that does. I currently don't overclock, but as the Tegra 2 ages, i will overclock it. I'm specifically waiting for a rom with a high GPU overclock. There is one out there that currently does have a minor GPU overclock.
6) Clockwork Recovery. Backup, restore, switch roms, clear cache and more.
Why I choose Prime:
7) Dock battery meter in the taskbar.
8) Reboot/recovery options for power button.
After looking through the current selection of roms available, I choose Prime. But I keep my eye on revolver and Clemsyn.

How do you not? OP clearly states that there are optimizations made to increase load times etc etc.
No, op states "better user experience" which is very vague. Also I'm not having any slow load times, everything is pretty zippy.

Last time I flashed a Tom he punched me in the face...
One reason I haven't seen mentioned would also be themes, but it is still early in the game, there are few options. Custom Roms are generally just optimized better, though the Transformer doesn't have nearly the bloat some Android devices have making them almost essential...
Honestly once you learn, it is such an easy process that flashing different roms/kernels and trying them is the only real way to know what is best for you and your usage.

Then why are you worrying about ROMs? It's obvious you want some of that Baconcomb so just get it already.
Honestly, I don't know why people ever need to "beg" you to try something. If you're happy with what you got already, then be happy.
"If it isn't broken, don't fix it"
If you're curious, then just do it... because all in honesty. One person's opinion is only a opinion. The only way you're going to know if it's worth it is from YOUR personal experience. I can personally say that, PRIME 1.6 and root is good and its worth it.
If you don't want to take my word for it, then don't. I'm not going to beg you to do it.

He asked what was the difference between stock and Prime, and you went off in another direction. He wasn't asking to be "begged" into using Prime nor asking for others to convince him into using Prime at all.
Anyways, I know Prime has a few optimizations, but I don't know if it brings any substantial changes. There's a link to download the power/recovery mod, so I suppose it could be applied to any ROM including rooted stock.
One reason I would like to root my tf101 is to be able to use a USB dongle. But I am waiting for 3.2 to come out before since I just got my tf101.
The stock version is pretty good actually. No major complaints so far.
I hav ebeen using Prime for a while but ASUS stock version is definitely quite good. Even more so for lack of garbageware that so plagues the mobile phones...
Yea I guess I'm in the same camp. I haven't seen a compelling reason to move to a different ROM versus rooted stock. There are too many posts that seem to lead users to believe that a different ROM is the same as root. Remember you can root the stock ROM. The OP is asking what user experience enhancements make Prime (or any other ROM) compelling.
If you read changelog second post it will tell you exactly what's new in the ROM. Many changes are only useful for experienced linux users, but many others are useful for everyone. The nice thing about roms is that most of the things and tweaks are already done for you. If you don't need/care about those changes then there is no point for you to reflash.

I'm curious because I'm thinking of picking up one of these today ( the guy at Orifice Depot tried to get me to buy an Iconia, but that thing doesn't have anywhere near the support the TF is getting...)....?
Manufacturer's (ASUS included) have to be very careful about their ROM releases so they are thoroughly tested and ready to release to the general public. Consequently they are slower to release updates (i.e. NVidia updates, etc.). Custom ROMs generally consolidate the best and latest releases from various manufacturer's into the most cuttest edge versions you can possibly be running. As you'll notice this can also mean more lock-ups and weird issues since you are getting just-available changes. So if you prefer max stability, stick with the manufacturer's updates. For many of us part of the fun of owning an Android tablet is the rapid pace that custom ROMs are put out and the interesting/quirky things they bring us.

I got a B60 TF and a B60 dock from my local OD this past weekend (Denver, CO).
Prime Vs Stock
Reason why I flashed the Prime Rom. With Prime and a netflix patch I'm able to stream netflix movie. Also now Adhoc connections work. I can Wifi tehther my TF101 with my Driod using the adhoc connection. I can now easily reboot into recovery prior to this going into recovery was a bit tricky. This was not possible even with HC 3.2. Also I don't have to worry about losing root becuase of an OTA update.
I am actually a flashaholic when it comes to flashing roms on my phone. But so far, I haven't come across any compelling reasons to flash custom roms on my transformer. The need to flash roms on phones offer benefits that are non existant on a tablet. For instance, one major reason to flash custom roms on phones is to enable free wifi tethering, which obviously does not apply here. Another reason, as stated above is to remove bloatware. The transformer doesn't really have that. And yet another reason is to be able to update to the latest Android version before the official release. Correct me if i'm wrong but when I looked, the 3.2 update came out officially before any transformer custom roms had it. There are a couple more minor customizations options that I'm not seeing yet being offered by the transformer roms. I am fully aware of the speed enhancements and optimizations that custom roms offer, but considering the custom roms for the transformer are still relatively new (no disrespect or discredit to the devs for their hard work), and considering that even still now, the rooting and flashing methods keep getting outdated and changed, it's too early in this ballgame for me to flash.
I've been lurking the forums here now for a month and finally pulled the trigger, my TF get's here monday.
I have yet to see any reason to flash a custom rom or even root at this point. I'll be rooting it just to say it's rooted and just for a couple of root only programs I have. The custom roms don't really bring anything to the table that this tablet doesn't have. it has the newest version of android with all the bells and whistles. I'm not going to be overclocking. I understand netflix is big for some people, but, from what I have read flashing the fix breaks some video playback. I'm ok to wait for the official netflix patch. A 32gb MicroSD and the 16gb on board space is plenty to store movies on for travel etc. I also have a server I run at home that will stream my entire movie,. TV, and music collections directly to me.
Having the best of the best and the most up to date version of android does have it's perks

Internet experience is slow and jerky, flash takes a while to speed up. (Ive tried all browsers)
N64iod runs better and faster on my xperia play (which is a 1 core processor)
Some games seem to re-download every time i run them.
Cant play 720p with HW enabled with SW there slow.
Live wallpapers slow down the OS, my Xperia doesn't!
I could go on.
I know the OS is relatively new, but i cant buy that. The tablet cost me £415 with dock, If i was a normal customer, (the everyday user) i would take it back to the shop as i would think it was broke.
My last point is the constant crashes, it even locked up while trying to shut down.
So please please please tell me there is an answer, i so want to like it, as the concept is brill, i based buying this on my xperia play, i love the os, but honeycomb maybe the problem here!

First of all, what android version and firmware build are you running and are you rooted? Secondly, have you performed any OTA updates since you bought your TF? Before I installed a custom rom on my TF, I myself have experienced serious lag and slow down due to multiple OTA updates. As with any pc based platform, its typically best to do a full wipe and perform a clean install to have it running at its peak. Before I took the route of a custom rom, i did a full wipe and fresh install and could immediately tell the difference in speed. So my suggestion is that you take that route first. Also, if you are interested in rooting and installing a custom rom, be advised that starting with the B70 revision, ASUS changed and locked down the bootloaders and they are currently unrootable at this time...which means you won't be able to install a custom rom. Find your S/N and if it starts with B70 or higher, then you won't be able to root at this time.
I have not had to many FCs, either stock or on Prime. Most times that I get any problems at all are in the stock browser, and usually thenjust a matter of slowness and the occasional "FC or Wait" prompt; particuarlly on more 'involved' web pages. Loading pages are also fairly sloow at times but still faster than my phone. My phone uses Opera for tremendous inprovement over it's stock browser.
Don't know about the 720p, haven't tried and don't know what program you used. Out of box is rather minimal audio/video playback as far as I noticed.
General performance wise, this thing beats a number of x86 systems I've had, espiecally while compiling C/C++ code.
If it's not something closer to the hardware, doing an nvflash to a custom rom might be worth trying but it can be an irk to deal with nuking everythiing you have stored, backups or no.

Get DicePlayer - best player around, supports HW acceleration and 720p is good as well (compared to others) - thanks to tegra2 plugins. Not free tough.

Higher resoltioun and tegra2 issue AFAIK (might be wrong).
Check to make sure you've received all updates on your tab

You are correct, custom roms are always going to end up being preference. If you are able to root, the best way to start off this endeavor is to visit the posts of all 3 major roms for the TF in the development section. Find out what each rom offers, and make your decision based off of that. You can always try out each rom to see which one you like better.

Asus changed the bootloader not too long after they started making the B70 revisions. So there is a very small window of chance that your TF can be rooted. You can always try, but the chances are slim. I can't answer your Opera question...I don't use Opera.

There is no option for this in Opera Mobile; I should know, it's what I use off the phone next to me .
Opera Mini is probably the same, but I would highly doubt it would support that feature even if it wasn't.

Anyway, just accept you got suckered in to all this EEE Fad, iFad marketing BS. The Tegra 2 is a $5 PoS SoC... kind of like the PoS Atom CPU.

Oh if you disable flash in the stock browser it's speed is good.
I'm stuck with stock too ... REALLY FARKING pisses me off that I'm locked out of my own device.

Lol, this man has made the greatest mod to his TF!
But yeah, try running a custom rom (if you can) and see if your problems are still present. If so, contact Asus and maybe they will give you a replacement, could simple be some hardware malfunctions.
well i tried to root using the all in one tool, when trying to backup and root i kept getting an error cannot boot to pad or something like that, so for now ive had to admit defeat and wait for some bright spark to hopefully crack the new bootloader :-(

Just wanted to bump my original thread to say after alot of complaing from me i can now say i am a proud owner of the Asus Transformer TF101.
Thanks to the fact i can now root and install custom roms.
After a few weeks of trial and error, i tried, revolver, Prime and KRAKD.
The latter for me was easily the best so so smooth, OC 1.504 i tried same on the other Roms, but with KRAKD i had no issues and its just so much quicker in my opinion.
One issue that exists in all the custom roms is that the xbox controller doesn't work until you change the kernel. Weird.
Brwosing is more of a joy and with ICS on its way my tablet experience is looking up!
Still tempted by windows 8 but we will wait and see.

If you have a PS3, you should be able to use a Sigaxis controller using the Sigaxis application on the market as well.

A grey 16gb wi-fi model.
So now, I have a couple of questions I wanted to ask before I started installing lots of apps onto this thing!
First off, I have been looking into the JB stuff, which is one of the main reasons I wanted the Note. It seems that this is not out in the UK yet (or anywhere except Germany?) but there are ways to root the Note and install it...
Except it seems these (and every other ROM) are all designed for only the 8000 model? Which *I believe* is the wifi+3G model...
1 - So does this mean I cant use many custom roms? As they seem to be designed for the 8000? or is this irrelevent?
(I did find this thread about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982821 except it seems that the JB install makes the battery drain around 3 hours quicker than it should? OR is this standard for jellybean? (seems strange)

1) There are usually tweaks that allow you to use the ROM, even if your device isn't the 8000. Keep in mind that those roms have telephony services, and will be looking for a 3G signal (unless disabled).
2) If you are staying stock I recommend waiting. If not, flash CM10. It's lovely!
3) It depends on if it is stock based or AOSP/CM based. Stock based roms retain all of the original functionality, but adds speed, animation, theme, and other misc tweaks. AOSP based roms lose all of the Samsung Touchwiz specific functionality (Multi-window, S apps), but give you a pure android experience and look. Of course, CM also has a cool theme chooser!
4) I believe you should charge it first, but others will correct me if I am mistaken

1) Its nice that I have the options to play with it then, I'm sure there are ways to disable the 3G search. I was tempted to get it, but it didnt seem worth the extra £100+ (I got my note on an offer)
2) I assume I can flash CM10 while I wait, and return to stock when it is released? I'm only used to iOS jailbreaking, where you can always return to stock easily... I'd assumed this would work in a similar way?
3) It would be a shame to lose out on the samsung stuff... I'm not hooked on touchWiz or anything, but the multi-window stuff in the new JB update looked pretty snazzy. Of course in a years time I may change to pure android roms, if only to keep updated (I expect samsung will stop making their own updates soon enough)
4) I plugged it in briefly, saw it already had half a charge, and so unplugged it ... I cant remember if I should charge it to full first, then discharge it to 0%... or run it flat then charge it to full. Or if it makes no difference at all. Curse you technology!!

All Android devices seem to have a real problem if you truly run the battery down to 0. I would say, get it close, but not to the point of dying.
As far as the German JB ROM, there's a patch to disable the phone stuff. I'm running it on a WiFi only 8013 and it's fine. Just read everything you can. Read the threads from the first page to the last.
Frankly, I've always been a custom ROM kind of guy. But the multi-view stuff is just so awesome, especially the JB version, that I'm sticking with stock. Changed the launcher, but sticking with stock.

Thanks for this. As it is getting late already, and I have work tomorrow, I may just stick to the ICS for now and get a couple basic apps and have a play around. You never know, the update may turn up!
I would just go for the JB one tonight, but I will need to find a step-by-step guide to help me, as I only have experience with the iOS jailbreaking process.

It was better with ICS. But it's still pretty good. Last week I watched 4½ hours of video and still had about 52% battery life left. It seems like every version of Android they come out with gets slightly worse with regards to battery life. But in this case I think the extras that JB adds makes it a worthwhile tradeoff. In JB the difference seems to come from the addition of Google Now. I'm tempted to turn it off since I really don't use it other than to shut up iPhone users
After some research, it seems rooting is even more complicated than I first thought... because of the "binary counter" that samsung now has on their devices.
It seems that you can reset this counter, but I think it would only be sensible to road-test the tablet as stock first, in case it has any obvious faults that need to be sorted under warranty...
Although I do hate being sensible.
Same. I usually stay stock/un-rooted for about a month.. or two.. then I can't help it and just want to root and do other stuff. But for now, I have all that I really need for my Note at the moment without needing to root.

hahaha, I felt the same way. I actually bought mine about a week before the Nexus 10 official announcement. I wanted to wait to make a decision on whether to keep the Note or send it back and get the Nexus 10. I was going to wait to root until I heard the full details and made the decision.
I was rooted about 2 hours after I took it home :laugh:
I hope your resolve lasts longer than mine did.
I rooted immediately, I have SG3 & 2, and I still have the galaxy 10.1 running a jb Rom. Guess I should of played with stock a little more, but really wanna see how the development is.

Yeh, I was initially tempted by the 3G model... But it would have been over £100 more expensive, plus a monthly subscription for data, and just isn't worth it.
Although its frustrating that Samsung will probably now wait another month before updating the wifi model... I don't think Germany even has it yet?
Couldn't you buy it outright? Then its up to you to either buy a plan, prepaid sim or use as a wifi model.... I personally prefer to get the 3g model simply because there may come a time when I need to use it.
I have a few 3g tablets, note 10.1, galaxy tab 7" and Acer Iconia A501.... Not all of these have sim cards but the potential is there if needed....

Well yes, but thats the point I was making... to buy it outright would have cost me an extra £100, and I simply dont have that much money to throw away.
If I was going to make a lot of use out of it, then fine... but I doubt I will. If I need internet on the move, I have my GalaxyS2,
Or, if for some reason I need internet on the move *specifically* on my tablet... I have my GalaxyS2 and tethering.
Saving myself over £100 means... well that £100 has bought me a really nice case, a 64GB microSD card, and a 4-in-1 adaptor for using USB/miniUSB/SD cards with the Note. And I still have £30 left over!
More than worth it, in my book. Just a shame we have t wait for the darned JB update so I can actually use the 64gb stick!

Everyone tell a different way to root the LG. Half of the threads are too old with expired download link or not working methods.
And there seems to be a problem with the new baseband when the phone is updated to the "new" 2.3.3. stock rom.
I would like to try the "CyanogenMod" first.

Hello georg2010 welcome to Xda! now first off we can start with trying to root your phone, older phones on xda start to loose their links as the days go by but hopefully there are a few still up. for now, i want you to use this method to root it:

From there you are going to go to the play market and download an app called "ClockworkMod ROM Manager", open it as soon as its done and choose to install Clockworkmod recovery,should be the first option, you need to be sure that you select your model only, in this case you told us a LG optimus one p500. once its done it might restart but to make sure it worked try this button combo when your device is turned off: Volume Down + Power + Home
post back when your ready to move on ahead.

Yes, the software is clean, most of the time stuff like this people get virus pickups, thousands of people view these forums a day, you would think if it was a real virus it would be Taken down Asap. as for your problem with that program, did you install LG drivers? if not and we still have problems with it, try this instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 download the APK towards the bottom, should be GingerBreak-v1.20.apk put it on your phone, use a file browser like androzip (personally my favorite its on the google play store) find it and install it. open it and follow the directions, make sure to enable usb debugging in settings first, im sure this one will root your device, it normally roots android 2.1-2.3 easily rooted my LG optimus V (same exact phone as yours different carrier)
Edit: my bad did a little research and it looks like Gingerbreak only works on the 2.2 update, which you have the 2.3.3 update. i would try this also

SuperOneClick 2.3.3. worked at first try.
Installing ClockworkMod now.
Well I wanted to install the recovery, it detected my phone but it says only for old BB, which is the baseband driver I guess.
As it is Android 2.3.3. I guess its the new baseband?!

I just did it,

5) Press the “Flash Clockworkmod Recovery” option
6) Popup appears, asking for your device; select “LGE Optimus One”
7) Another popup will appear giving two options for the basebands:
- LG Optimus One (This is for new baseband)
- LG Optimus One (Old BB) (This is for old baseband)
I would advise you to select Old BB recovery as its more stable; new baseband may result in semi-brick (Personal Experience)

So it seems to be irrelevant if I have new or old BB, for this part, my LG still can connect and so its not bricked (yet ). So everything seems to be fine.
Did already a backup of my ROM through clockwork recovery.
So I guess its time to install CM7 now?

Correct. If your able to get into cwm with no troubles then we can move on. Your going to download cyanogenmod first, for your phone only p500. Then your going to see which version of cyanogenmod you downloaded and download the correct gapps from here http://goo.im/gapps gapps are needed for every rom yoi flash, pretty much it includes all nessesary google items such as gmail and the play store. Put both of these files onto a micro sd card for your phone and your going to first select wipe data, after that choose wipe cache. Once thats finished you are going to select install zip and navigate to where you put the cyanogenmod zip and gapps zip. Flash (fancy way of daying install) the cm7 first, once finished flash the gapps after then reboot if all comes out well.

Well it seems to work.
In some points not what I ´ve expected (I mean here and there still little lags) and so on. But I guess the fun has just begun, so it need a lot of fine tuning. Maybe I will update from CM7 to a higher one because its obviously still "gingerbread" (if this is recommended regarding the available resources on my P500)
But my goal is at first, to be able to move or install every app directly to the SD card. I would like to know how to do that, I´ve read some tutorials about partitioning the SD card and so on. Do you have to create a separate partition for the "apps"?
Although the 200MB space on my phone was nearly completely unused, (which is great becuase on the stock ROM its nearly full even after factory reset) I still would like to use the space on my 16 GB Sd Card, for this purpose.
The second "nice-to-have" feature would be the ability to install officially not compatible apps on my phone.
For example if I want to install "Threema" it says not compatible device in the market.

Well first off, for your lagging problem, its because the device is a little outdated with its Processor which is clocked at 600 MHz. Cyanogenmod allows you to overclock your device to what they think is a safe Clock speed. honestly when i had Cyanogenmod 7 on my Optimus v (same as p500 different carrier) i don't think i got to overclock it past 700 MHz. now you might be wondering if overclocking is as dangerous as computer overclocking, these phones (CPU's) where meant to get packed into small areas on its motherboard if that makes sense. it is completely safe to overclock (there was a Motorola phone i think was the moto atrix, when it first came out, it was clocked at 1 GHz. the ics update had boosted it up to 1.2 GHz.) the most harm it can do is Reboot when it either what i'm guessing cant handle that clock speed or is just a huge jump from different speeds. so pretty much just boost it 5% at a time until it reboots, to overclock i don't remember where you would be able to find it in cyanogenmod 7, i think it might be in something called cyanogenmod settings, the layout between CM7 vs CM9 and up changed quite a bit. but pretty much just look around for it.
as for your SD card problems, i don't know much about partitioning SD cards i don't do much of that. i think Gingerbread (2.3.X or CM7.X) and down had some weird SD card problems and limited taking apps to the SD card, android 4.0.X and up changed and you had more options but Apps were allowed to dump files everywhere onto your SD card making a mess (this is normally through all android versions Except Kitkat 4.4.x lots of people don't mind it but there are others who like it neat) kitkat fixed this and if i remember right kinda broke our way of making apps go to the SD card, you would have to look that up. i would recommend getting a 4.2.X or 4.3.X rom, personally my favorite versions of android. kitkat was not very impressive, if you don't see any of those just Test 4.0.X roms and up until you get something that is enjoyable. i'm looking around for a smaller gapps so we can give you a little more internal space, these small gapps pretty much give you the things you Really only need to use your phone such as the play market and Google play services, it removes like Gmail and hangouts, you will still be able to download them from the play store if you need them or see something missing.
as for your last question, its not that your phone is not officially compatible its because of your android version, i did some research and threema requires ICS 4.0.X and up so if you want to use this app you need to flash a ics or higher rom. remember every time you want to flash a rom, backup, wipe data, wipe cache, flash rom then gapps. i'm surprised you still own this phone, it is outdated at this point but is still a GREAT phone and im glad some people still use it, it was my first android phone and is still a great phone to this day (even if its sitting on my desk for the rest of its days like the rest of my phones lol). if you get stuck please reply back.

The overclocking indeed helps a bit. I think it depends on the Launcher too.

And it works much better.

Thanks this sounds good. I guess this apps cannot be stored on the SD Card. And such like launchers neither. Tried this with Go Launcher Ex, the widgets crashed. - At least if You use the standard way of copying Apps on the SD card through the App manager.
So such performance-relevant stuff should be kept in phone´s storage.
i'm surprised you still own this phone, it is outdated at this point but is still a GREAT phone and im glad some people still use it, it was my first android phone and is still a great phone to this day (even if its sitting on my desk for the rest of its days like the rest of my phones lol)

Its a combination of circumstances.
The phone is not so outdated that I had a strong desire to give out money for a new one.
And I like the design becuase its "handy". It´s not so small and not too big.
And if there is a free way to get rid of the slow stock rom, and make it a little bit faster... why not?
The today´s phones, like the Samsung S3-5 are way too big, and most importantly too expensive,
the whole system there is sad, you have to pay like 700€ for a new phone and as soon as they bring out a new model, the price drops instantly.
So you ask yourself do you pay for the hardware or for the "image" or whatever? So if I buy a new phone then I will of course always look for the "outdated" models (which are not in my opinion). Like the S2 or S3, where you still have a good performance, for a good price.
The One Plus One is interesting too, another favorite would be Google Nexus or (to stay loyal) some of the LG smartphones like the L70-L90, its maybe not one of the high end smartphones but still sure a nice performance boost.
The only bad thing about the older phones is the low screen resolution.

the original Stock launcher for Cyanogenmod 7 and below was a launcher called ADW launcher, the company or person who made it tends to try to make it as stock android as possible and honestly the version cyanogenmod 7 came with was not very good. i dont think launchers cant be moved to the sd card but widgets sure cant.
your right, you cant pick any rom you want, it has to be specifically built for your own. cyanogenmod is not the only rom type. most of the time unofficial roms will be built upon cyanogenmod or other roms. there are a few others on some newer phones but cyanogenmod is the stablest and if its official updates on bugs come faster. if you want to find more roms, here on xda you always want to go here for your device

honestly if you were to find a used Galaxy s2 the specs would be perfectly fine. all variants have a great development community going and should for the new few android versions. what carrier do you have? i would try to get a T989 T-mobile s2 like myself, its pretty great though its a 4.5" ich screen vs your 3.2" screen its not too big, probably the only problem i have with it is the resolution is not the best. a motorola G would be a great replacement aswell, better specs than the s2 (its very close to a s3 benchmark) same screen size and i think it has a better resolution.
as for today's standards you Are paying for image, paying for the brand name (like alienware and dell computers), back then it used to be Hardware, the Nexus one used to have the Best phone specs when it was released. if you look at benchmarks, the Galaxy s4 vs the s5 there is not much of a difference. i myself am interested in the oneplus one device but the only problem is that invite system. im also thinking of grabing a LG L90, great price for its specs which are the same as the moto g so pretty much as close to a s3.

i cant sugesst you a rom because i dont own the phone, i could look through the forums and show you one to test out but thats about it, 4.2.X and 4.3.X have just minor ui updates that can come in handy, just test a bunch of 4.1.X and 4.2.X and you can see the difference, i think 4.2.X added camera to the lockscreen and dropdown status bar different ui. you can check here to see some of the differences http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history
Hey guys, i have been a member here for quite some years, and have flashed a lot of phones in my days but i just bought a nvidia shield 32gb LTE first edition tablet and when i got it it seemed quite fast but then i went and factory reset it and as soon as i load it up with apps it gets so slow.
Its even slower than my 100usd chinese pipo tablet.
I have tried several factory resets, tried enable gpu on screen and ram killer apps but still its slow.
Tried installing 128gb memory card wich are fast and tried that as main memory but still no luck.
Also es file explorer really kills it.
Never had any problem with es on any phone before but now it just kills it performance so i had to get a different file explorer.
But, i have now given up on this original nougat rom.
Its time to flash.
But i dont really play games, i have a shield tv so this is my bedroom look at streaming media tablet so i dont need a controller to work with it so thats not an issue..
Its bone stock original, what rom would you recommend and i prefer one thats not rooted as i dont need it and i do have an app that i can stream live tv and it dont wanna work on rooted devices.
But if its rooted and thats the way it needs to be im also ok with loosing that live stream tv app especially since now the tablet feels unusable.
Please a quick tutorial and a good rom suggestion and i will be so happy. Thank you!!

I put on TWRP and then i flashed it trying several of the ROMS here but the one who worked the best With LTE and no other stupid isuues was the LINEAGE rom..
Its very good.
I tried the Stock rom here, but a lot of problem With that, i tried several others mentioned on the romboard but most of them didnt include LTE so there goes that..
I find it annoying the Lineage is rooted or unsecured kernel as then my tvprovider dont like my tablet so i canty use their app.
But im guessing its better having a quick and snappy tablet vs one that lags beats my live streaming every day..
