Hello I just picked up the samsung replinish and need to know if I can add flash support somehow. Do I need to change my kernel? Or add a custom rom? I had the evo and got this for the keyboard but really miss the flash support... thanks in advance

Any luck?
Did you have any luck getting flash support? I'm considering this phone for my son, and flash would be good. Maybe an alternate browser would work. How about Dolphin? Also, if you want to try to get flash running, you could try sideloading it. Android Central, which sings the XDA praises all the time, has an app for sideloading called the wonder machine. I haven't used it, but it might be useful for you. Good luck.
forum.androidcentral.com/android-sideload-wonder-machine/76171-android-central-sideload-wonder-machine-v-1-2-a.html
I can't imagine that flash would work on this phone, only because the screen resolution and processor speed are both so low. As an employee, I cannot tell you to try "rooting" the phone because that would be in violation of Sprint T&C's, but that may be the only way to attempt what you are looking to do. It is not meant to be a high end handset, but more of an entry level device for 1st time Android or smartphone users. Now having said that, for the non-Uber-user, the Replenish is a solid phone that provides a mid-range smartphone experience for the feature phone convert, or for antiquated smartphone upgraders. I would say it is NOT the way to go if you are "upgrading" from an Evo or Epic. It does offer some significant savings, not only in capital investment, but also in the MRC.
Quite honestly though, I have not tried to get flash to work, nor do I expect it to.

I was able to download Adobe Flash 10.1 (found the apk on xda somewhere) but it causes my browser to crash--also, the whole reason I got it was in hopes that THAT was why my modded Netflix app still wasn't working (got the no-device-checker mod from xda as well).
For the record, I've rooted my Replenish--but haven't seen much performance boost at all. I got an overclocker but all I could really do was switch the profile from the standard one to "performance"--so it does seem to load up a little faster.
Also, Wireless tether is neat....but thats about it!

thats because your using a stock kernel if their is a custom kernel that allows overclocking then you would see a difference
Replenish is NOT a multimedia phone. It has multimedia capabilities, but just the physical specs themselves (600mHz processor, 2MP camera, LO-res screen) screams "don't use me for video unless you're witnessing a phelony, and then you may have trouble getting it to stick!".
The reason that apps like Netflix, Angry Birds, and other software are not available or won't run on the Replenish is because those programs require a minimum hardware performance level.
Getting back to Flash, I think it won't work for this reason. Even if you can overclock it with a cooked ROM, your resolution will still stink, and you may even burn out the screen and/or hardware by trying to run full video (conjecture, not really knowing...).
If you get it to work and it's stable, obviously I'd like to know how because I don't think the manufacturers or Sprint meant to "reserve" any computing or performance power in order to enable higher end processes and applications like Flash video or bird catapults...

Angry birds (the original at least) runs just fine on the replenish. Tested it myself.
A custom rom with some of the crap removed would be nice.

Here is a WORKING DEODEXED PhoenixRom that I just made about an hour ago. I got to playing around with FireHak's build. I didn't change NOTHING, but deodex. I noticed the boot animations didn't work so I added bootanimation.zip functionality and it still doesn't work. At least on my wife's phone who I tested this on. I downloaded Anim Mod from the market to change the windows animations and transitions. It also modifies the system framework, so I tested it on her Replenish and EVERYTHING is running good so far. Now we have a deodexed ROM, let the customization begin.
I am not in anyway trying to take Firehak's glory. That is why I left everything the same.
Things we need to work on:
Custom Bootanimations
Disable the annoying System Update message
Fix recovery to fit our screens. (I noticed the Clockwork Recovery is oversized)
Customization
Flash like you would normally a ROM. Use Firehak's instructions here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-replenish/148702-acs-rom-phoenix-rom-0-2-a.html
But instead, use the Pheonix 0.3 zip include below.
I made it to where it WON'T wipe data, but I noticed it still does. PLEASE BACKUP FIRST! After I flashed this ROM I did an Avanced Restore through Clockwork and only restored DATA. Everything seems fine. Wipe Dalvik and Cache, just in case.
AS WITH ALL OTHER ROMS, FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Please let me know if anyone has issues.
Now what we all been waiting for, here is the link to download:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64632729/pho...3_deodexed.zip
Hope you all enjoy!
PS. Thanks Firehak for all your hard work
EDIT: Because bootanimations didn't work on my wife's phone, it will look like the phone shut off. Just let it sit. It will boot up.
Hi I recently picked up the Motorola Spice from Mobilicity and I wasn't happy with the constant lagging and crashing. I rooted the phone with SuperOneClick and deleted the annoying Motorola flashback feature that sllows down the phone. Is there anything else I can do to make my phone run faster?
Thanks,
Alex
Have you got any answer? My brother bought this phone and wanter to change ROM, but couldn't find anything so I'm looking for making it faster at least!
I don't know how everyone say you could change everything on Android and I'm having so much trouble with a phone like this..
To increase your devices performance you could see if a custom kernel with overclocking options is available.
Android devices can be changed more than others, but some just don't have alot of customisations because the device is not that popular.
So either they are available, you make them yourself or buy another device.
Well i think you can use setcpu on it but some people have had problems with overclocking pas the max 528mhz.
I would flash an overclockable kernel then run setcpu to see if that helped. If there are custom roms, install one of them to remove all the bloatware. Good luck.

Hey guys. I'm just going to let people know what I did in case anyone else needs it.
set cpu didn't work on this device.
i downloaded titanium backup and tried to shed all that extra weight. delete flashback, corporate calendar, stock browser, anything that just takes up space. obviously back it up first just in case.
install Opera Mini. The phone is pretty slow and if you're on mobilicity, the network isn't that great. opera mini works like a charm
and lastly, dont expect much from it. it does what i need it to do now and thats most important
good luck

i have been an owner of the Transformer for just under a week, to be honest i think its a let down.
Internet experience is slow and jerky, flash takes a while to speed up. (Ive tried all browsers)
N64iod runs better and faster on my xperia play (which is a 1 core processor)
Some games seem to re-download every time i run them.
Cant play 720p with HW enabled with SW there slow.
Live wallpapers slow down the OS, my Xperia doesn't!
I could go on.
I know the OS is relatively new, but i cant buy that. The tablet cost me £415 with dock, If i was a normal customer, (the everyday user) i would take it back to the shop as i would think it was broke.
My last point is the constant crashes, it even locked up while trying to shut down.
So please please please tell me there is an answer, i so want to like it, as the concept is brill, i based buying this on my xperia play, i love the os, but honeycomb maybe the problem here!
Cheers.

First of all, what android version and firmware build are you running and are you rooted? Secondly, have you performed any OTA updates since you bought your TF? Before I installed a custom rom on my TF, I myself have experienced serious lag and slow down due to multiple OTA updates. As with any pc based platform, its typically best to do a full wipe and perform a clean install to have it running at its peak. Before I took the route of a custom rom, i did a full wipe and fresh install and could immediately tell the difference in speed. So my suggestion is that you take that route first. Also, if you are interested in rooting and installing a custom rom, be advised that starting with the B70 revision, ASUS changed and locked down the bootloaders and they are currently unrootable at this time...which means you won't be able to install a custom rom. Find your S/N and if it starts with B70 or higher, then you won't be able to root at this time.
I have not had to many FCs, either stock or on Prime. Most times that I get any problems at all are in the stock browser, and usually thenjust a matter of slowness and the occasional "FC or Wait" prompt; particuarlly on more 'involved' web pages. Loading pages are also fairly sloow at times but still faster than my phone. My phone uses Opera for tremendous inprovement over it's stock browser.
Don't know about the 720p, haven't tried and don't know what program you used. Out of box is rather minimal audio/video playback as far as I noticed.
General performance wise, this thing beats a number of x86 systems I've had, espiecally while compiling C/C++ code.
If it's not something closer to the hardware, doing an nvflash to a custom rom might be worth trying but it can be an irk to deal with nuking everythiing you have stored, backups or no.
Internet experience is slow and jerky, flash takes a while to speed up. (Ive tried all browsers)
Latest Flash, Latest Browser (3.2.1) - runs good.
N64iod runs better and faster on my xperia play (which is a 1 core processor)
I have this issue, too - probably Tegra2 related (OCing may help?)
Some games seem to re-download every time i run them.
What games? Never noticed it.
Cant play 720p with HW enabled with SW there slow.
Get DicePlayer - best player around, supports HW acceleration and 720p is good as well (compared to others) - thanks to tegra2 plugins. Not free tough.
Live wallpapers slow down the OS, my Xperia doesn't!
Higher resoltioun and tegra2 issue AFAIK (might be wrong).

Strange how some people experience things that most others don't. Weird. But anyway, you should return your TF. Get a proven product like an ipad 2.

Ok troll. Your kind isn't welcome here unless you own a TF and can offer solutions other than being apple fan boy. This is not the thread you are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along...move along...
cheers for all the suggestions, i have got the latest updates and firmware.
i will check my serial when i get home.
for video playback ive been using mobo and mx player
games which redownload everytome are reckless getaway and the spaceship one which i cant remember the name lol its for tegra 2 and its free
if i decide on a custom rom i take it its purely personal preference? i fancy revolution for the ota tools

You are correct, custom roms are always going to end up being preference. If you are able to root, the best way to start off this endeavor is to visit the posts of all 3 major roms for the TF in the development section. Find out what each rom offers, and make your decision based off of that. You can always try out each rom to see which one you like better.
My choices are limited now
checked my serial and its B70.
Looks like i'm stuck with stock until asus / google sort my issues.
One last question?
i here good things about opera, but i dont like the way it loads (waiting for the page to load before displaying) is there anyway to disable this feature?
Sometimes you just want to click on a link i dont really want the whole page to load!
Asus changed the bootloader not too long after they started making the B70 revisions. So there is a very small window of chance that your TF can be rooted. You can always try, but the chances are slim. I can't answer your Opera question...I don't use Opera.

There is no option for this in Opera Mobile; I should know, it's what I use off the phone next to me .
Opera Mini is probably the same, but I would highly doubt it would support that feature even if it wasn't.
@blonqe: I posted something similar and goodintentions replied the same way... he has down syndrome, bless his heart...
Anyway, just accept you got suckered in to all this EEE Fad, iFad marketing BS. The Tegra 2 is a $5 PoS SoC... kind of like the PoS Atom CPU.
Tabs are fairly useless, but you wanted to waste some money
Oh if you disable flash in the stock browser it's speed is good.
I'm stuck with stock too ... REALLY FARKING pisses me off that I'm locked out of my own device.

Lol, this man has made the greatest mod to his TF!
But yeah, try running a custom rom (if you can) and see if your problems are still present. If so, contact Asus and maybe they will give you a replacement, could simple be some hardware malfunctions.
well i tried to root using the all in one tool, when trying to backup and root i kept getting an error cannot boot to pad or something like that, so for now ive had to admit defeat and wait for some bright spark to hopefully crack the new bootloader :-(

Just wanted to bump my original thread to say after alot of complaing from me i can now say i am a proud owner of the Asus Transformer TF101.
Thanks to the fact i can now root and install custom roms.
After a few weeks of trial and error, i tried, revolver, Prime and KRAKD.
The latter for me was easily the best so so smooth, OC 1.504 i tried same on the other Roms, but with KRAKD i had no issues and its just so much quicker in my opinion.
One issue that exists in all the custom roms is that the xbox controller doesn't work until you change the kernel. Weird.
Brwosing is more of a joy and with ICS on its way my tablet experience is looking up!
Still tempted by windows 8 but we will wait and see.
Glad to hear everything worked out.
If you have a PS3, you should be able to use a Sigaxis controller using the Sigaxis application on the market as well.
Hi,
I just got a free tab 2 with a Samsung camera, and have given it to my son to use, playing Agent Dash it often lags to the point where its not really playable, but sometimes its fine which is bizzare, anyway I'm considering rooting it and putting a custom rom on which I'm guessing will help???
Question is If I put some rom on and custom recovery etc can I go back to a stock Samsung recovery and firmware and reset the flash counter should I wish?
Thanks in advance
edit. Also are there any roms which look similar to the Samsung stock one with touchwiz that would perform better?

I"d say you won't get any improvement. Sounds like a app problem. I"d send a note to the developer. There is little difference if any in performance between CM based JB and Stock. Are you on the stock JB ? There is a difference in performance between ICS and JB.
And no , there is no stock ROM that performs better. IN general I'd say the tab performs very well. and problems you see are usually poorly written apps.of which there are a lot

Yeah updated it as soon as I got it yesterday its on P3110XXCLK7, I had another one earlier in the week but that came and the box was smashed up so got it swapped, I only briefly tried that one but it seemed to play fine, I restored this one last night thinking that might help but its come back, I was playing it myself a few hours ago for about 20-30 mins and it was fine, put it on charge and then took it off charge and tried again and it started to lag big time.
If I flash the stock rom via odin over the top it wont affect the flash counter will it? Maybe something got buggered during the update? Having said that it only appears to be this app
I've put a clip of it on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K988t6tgNUM

Falshing stock ROM by Odin will not affect the counter.
I never experience lag on this tablet, but certain apps will mess up any device. If you are having a problem with only one app , check with the developer. if you are not sure what's slowing things down try a cpu analyzer and see what is eating your resources up..
A lot of games now access the web during the game to provide interactive play or offer to sell you things, that can often slow things down.

How much internal storage do you have free?
About 3gb
Back in the old days I bought the Eee Transformer TF101 and after years of loyal service it got a second life at a the house of my sister. Last week it has returned home however because the games my niece wants to play can't be installed on ICS anymore. I am planning on using it as a dedicated unit for my Chromecast, so that I don't have to search the whole house for my regular tablet when I want to watch Netflix.
Now the question: what would be the most usefull thing to do for this in terms of ROM. At the moment it is completely stock ICS (4.0.3), no root or anything. I can cast from youtube and Netflix, but for instance Chrome cannot be installed because it is too old. I have seen a 6.0.1-ROM, but I also see a lot of problems with force-closes and sometimes other issues as well, so i don't know if it is worth the hassle to install this.
Any suggestions? What would you do in this situation? Just leave it stock and disable as much as possible (like Gmail-sync, and updates of various system-apps), or would you root the device and possible flash a completely new ROM?
Only posting to follow this thread as I am in a very similar boat, I loved this device and recently rediscovered it at my parents house in pristine condition - so I want to re-purpose it. I have rooted it and installed a few custom roms but they are all sluggish and riddled with problems. I am looking for whatever rom is fastest, stable and new enough to install most basic apps (Chrome, Gmail, Netflix, etc...).
Hi Cabrone,
I'm still on stock, hoping for someone to share his/her personal view on this. Not being able to install a (slowly, but always increasing) number of apps is my biggest concern with this. At the moment this boils down to Chrome, but I can imagine that at a certain point in time Youtube or Netflix will no longer be updatable, and that would be a shame as long it is possible with alternative roms.
Best rom i ve found is Katkiss Marshmallow for now. They are also in builds for a Nougat version, but is too risky, from my point of view. Runs very well, its like it has a new life. The rom is quite optimized, i could get more into details, if you want.
Just FYI, Showbox will play great on the stock rom Tf101. I tested before updating my rom to Tim's 5.1. Chrome won't install, but Firefox will on stock. I'm wondering if anyone has tried stripping apps to improve performance?
