[Q] where do I send this off for repair [Samsung] - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey gang.....
My 6800 is partial bricked.. can only get into CWm recovery and download modes..
Ive used this thread without success....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1862294&page=17
My story of woe starts on page 17, post 166..
And I have given up..
Still right back where I started..
It wont boot any further than the 'Samsung Galaxy tab 7.7" screen...
it hangs there then goes black after a few minutes.. then back agian to the Tab 7.7 screen..
So now, I guess I have to send it off to get professional help...
Im asking you all where do I send it to.. Im in the US and all samsung says is that it's a Hong Kong model (P6800) and go thru them..
I cannot find out there.(SHK) where tog o..
Please chime in as to where you all send your device to get it repaired..
thanks to all who reply..
All replies are welcomed and encouraged. thanks again....its been 3-4 weeks since ive tried to breath life into this..
*bunb*

It is not a question of where people send their Galaxy 7.7 for repair but what repair center applies in your case. If Samsung USA says it is HK then that's where you have to send it to. Send an email to Samsung HK and follow their advice.
However I will be surprised if they will ship the repaired unit to you in the USA. You will have to arrange for shipping.
Long story short, yours is a complicated situation. A good lesson to not buy a Samsung product not serviced in the native country.
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have contacted samsung HK 3 times now thru their website. So far.... No response.... I'll try again

if you can go into cwm have you tried to restore using nandroid backup?? ask someone with same device to upload and see if you can restored into working nandroid

I WISH... I could get to recovery mode again... No luck... Only download mode... Or this new funky 'firmware update failed.' screen.
I lost CWM recovery mode about 5 days ago... Just can't get a hold of Samsung. HK. to tell me where to send.... Bummer that they're not answering my request via their support section of the website...

Well 1st what i see in your case is not a superbrick so the method you done is wrong CMIIW if you live in usa all you can do now send it tour local samsung and ask if they can fix maybe you gonna paid for this thats my suggestion for now if you can get the cwm back just restore the nandroid hopefuly ypur prblem will solved

when these tabs are bricked they can loose a part of the internal memory that has damadged sectors...
you can flash a custom pit file and remove the sectors..I did it and got mine back from the dead but then realised
you loose some storage capacity so decided to send back to get repaird properly as still have warrenty.
You will need to send your purchase receipt.
last time i deliberatley superbricked it before sending it back by ****ing with modified pit files in odin till it wouldnt start again...
They repaired it no questions asked...
Brand new motherboard..
when i plug in my OTG dongle i can feel the connection is brand new and really tight..

Try these guys: http://www.negrielectronics.com/
They have a facility in Nevada USA....very friendly customer service.
Call them (1(888) 358-6358) or chat with them online and say you have a galaxy 7.7 and would they be able to repair it for you.
They may try and charge you extra since you dont have the negricare plan or brought it from them, but should be able to help.
You may also be able to have them ship it on your behave overseas if needed...for a fee of course.
But I'd just contact them and see what they can do...only US based company I know that can handle this kind of situation.
I bought my P6800 from them...

Thanks for your replies agian..
yes I did buy this from Negri as well last January.
2 weeks ago, the chat person on Negris site told me to contact Samsung as they wont work on any devices out of warranty.
But mine was still under... then.....
And he blew me off telling me adamantly to get with Samsung Kong Kong..
So....
after reading this.... idriod... I called the number he provided and spoke with Anthony,
he didnt blow me off and email me a RMA form link to fill out with my order number etc.....
Now we wait for their techs to get back to me.... cross your fingers... & hope that they will take it in...
I will gladly pay for the repair... just finding someone to do it... that's proving tough as of right noww....
thanks..

Hmm sorry to hear about that first experience, hopefully they take care of you as they should all customers.
Let us know how it goes!

idroid..... well they sent me a Return Merchandise Authorization..
So that was a good deal.... I only wish they would have done that 3 weeks ago when I still had 9 days of warranty left..
Anyways... I told them to fix it even if I have to pay for the repair... cause i miss my tab!!
Thanks to Negri Electronics for taking it in and having a look at it.
I will keep this up-dated as things change.

Well... Negri Electronice just emailed me back.. Seems that they couldnt fix it and sent it somewheres to have someone else have a loot at it..
Now they are saying that they (the other place) cannot get repair parts from Samsung as it's out of warranty..(9 days).
So it's inroute back to them.. and they want to send it back to me still dead..
now.. What can I do??
I want this sucker fixed...
I dont get any answers from samsung hong Kons as to how they want it shipped or exactly where to from the USA..??
Im back to square one..
How and where do I send this off for repair?? Anywhere??
Ill pay for it..
I just want it going again...
dammm it all.....

anything I try with Odin doesn't complete... just sits and spins....

Sounds like you need somebody to JTAG it..
Then restore rom..

Well... Daniel HK.. Says that he wants to give it a shot.. So.... When I get it back... I'll send it to him and wait.... Thanks for all your replies..

Getting an O2 device fixed under warranty

I've got a 6-ish week old XDA Exec. I think the SD card reader is stuffed, but it's beyond the point (28 days) where I can just get them to send me a new XDA (they already have once!).
What are your experiences with the process for getting O2 to fix it? I think that I have to take it into a shop where they will look at fixing it under the warranty. I assume that there's no charge associated. Does anyone know if this is the case? Are there any better, cheaper, less hassle alternatives for getting this investigated and fixed?
Thanks,
Joe
Please set your `location` on your account profile (via the top left `UserCP`) so that others at the same location can guide/advise you on your repair. Members here came from all over the world, no use telling you the repair procedure of for O2 at Antarctic when you are in the Arctic
Country amanded
OK - i've amended my profile to include that - sorry - I thought I'd already done it !!
Joe
Since your unit is a HTC device, you can try calling the HTC Europe. 08712-230-217. You will get an answering machine. Just leave your name and phone number, they will call you back within a day. Tell them your IMEI number and they will tell you the rest. I had my t-mobile Charmer for them to repair, twice. So far so good.
I've spoken to the same people - they are at Milton Keynes would you believe? No loan while away for repair though.
I needed a loan phone so I went to the Orange shop and gave it to them to deal with.
Hopefully it should be back by this weekend.
Answer
I found out that after warranty you can pop into an O2 shop and they'll send it away for you to be fixed. They will even give you a replacement phone, if they've one in stock.
Mine disappeared for about a week, and came back fixed. They'll even load the latest OS (which I am sure some of you would dread!)
Having said that, this was only possible because it was still on 12 month warranty, and they wanted a proof of purchase.
Thanks for help ...
Joe

New batch of g2x out.

I have been waiting for a me batch to do a replacement, so I called today and asked for a new batch replacement. He told me that they were sold out but I could get a new unit, everything included like the battery and box for a replacement from the manufacturer. He put in the order and it was already shipped by ups with tracking numbers. Also I have two replacements coming, so this is exciting. The rep did say that yes there were problems with the current batch and that a new one was coming,i just got lucky because I specifically asked for a new batch. Hope this helps clear up some questions. I will update once I get them to see if they are better.

Did you call T-Mobile or LG? Reason why I'm asking is that it seems like my USB port is broke on the phone. I bought it at cellhub and T-Mobile won't exchange it. Can I call LG directly??

If you didn't purchase the phone from T-Mobile, they wouldn't exchange it. You'd need to contact cellhub or LG.
I'm not sure which one to go with anymore. A fixed G2x with no lcd bleed sounds pretty enticing, but then there's the Sensation with the possibility of root on day one.. and Kal-El is on the way this winter. Android just isn't slowing down, lol.
sensation having root on day one is possible but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you
Highly doubt this! I'm not doubting that you were told this but doubting the fact you'll get a phone from a new batch. I spoke to MANY T-mobile employees over the phone when asking for a replacement and I even asked for a new one from a new batch and they told me that unfortunately I get whatever is in the warehouse and there was no way to ensure this or specify what I'd like...
I understand that what the rep told me might or might not be true. But it sounded like t-mobile put the order through lg. T-mobile them selves do not have any phones,i am aware of that, but the processing was fast and I already have a tracking number. I am hopeful but not foolish. I will let u guys know as soon as it comes what the date on it is. The rep said that it will be a new phone not a refurbished one. is there any other way of knowing how the device would be from a new batch?

Same here. One even told me there was no way to get a refurbished one since it hasn't been out that long. I told her that was a complete lie and that I know of other people who got re-ferbs. Seems like every time I get told a lie or someone tries to roll my loyalty plan into a new plan it is by a female. No I just hang up and keep calling back until I get someone who sounds like myself. It might sound racist but it's the god damn truth.

Even I've gotten refurbished devices on several different occasions... I'm a female but in all honesty when I'm talking to the female t-mobile reps they seem to want to argue with me... I have however encountered a few good reps... I try to remain open minded but I have hung up on a few reps the dang "Chatty Cathy's" that think they know so much and wont shut up!

Seriously, I am really not trying to be a bigot, racist or sexist. I have encountered a couple females that knew what they were talking about and I didn't mean to lump all of the females in the same boat. What I really meant to say would come off racist but here goes anyway. As soon as I here a voice from a female that sounds like she's straight out of the ghetto I will hang up and call back. If the person sounds educated I will remain on the line and give them a chance.

Its almost impossible to contact LG. Look at their site no real links or tabs for warranty or contact on their main page.
When I needed to contact HTC for a warranty issue it was quick with an email tab- they got back to me the next business day.

Sorry, but you must not have looked very closely on their site. I went directly to lg.com, saw a link that said support (on the left), clicked on that, and saw a link for mobile phone support, clicked on that, and there are options for live chat, email or telephone support, all on the page. That took me about 5 seconds. Here is the link:
http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/mobile-support/mobile-lg-mobile-phone-support.jsp
I thought I killed my G2x Tuesday and ordered a replacement. It was a refurb I guess (in a white box). It had really bad screen bleed so I just mailed it back.
I got my original one working anyway.

You are right. I got an RMA # from them now via chat. I have a own thread open for it now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096710
Only problem I'm facing now is that the phone is rooted and has ClockWorkMod installed. I can put the stock image back on and do a factory reset/format. But I will not be able to unroot or put stock recovery back on without USB. You think it's worth to send it in?

[q] bricked/dead phone?? To mobiletechvideos???

Hi there.....
I'm from new zealand... And i used to have bricked or dead samsung galaxy tab and i was very frustrated of how can i fix it or if there's any chance at all to revive it...
Until i found here and read on some of the forums on xda about mobiletechvideos.com .... They were very popular in fixing different kind of phones even the latest one. I urgently send them in the u.s my phone via courier... Amazingly they were able to resurrect my phone without a hitch!....
Hey .. Im not a paid actor to promote their services ....am a real person which is just thankful enough.... they were able to help me ...even i'm miles away...
Thanks again mr. Jgroce of mobiletechvideos.com
MobilTechVideos resurrect my GT-i9003
Hi, just to share my mobileTechVideos review with XDA members,
I bricked my phone by flashing it with the wrong firmware (GT-i9000 firmware instead of GT-i9003 firmware).
The phone wont turn on and the screen stay black with no power button, no recovery mode...nothing !!! and I found mobiletechvideos via XDA forum.
and.....HE MADE IT !!!!!! It's AWESOME !!! A VERY BIG THANK YOU, I thank that my phone was dead, and he resurrect it ! You are the best..
I live in Tahiti (French Polynesia) and I thank that the distance will be a problem for sending the phone and have it back, but no ! Everything was perfect...The communication with mobiletechvideos via the website is easy and fast, I had an answer very quick.
I highly recommend !
A very BIG Mauruuru (Thank you in Tahitian) to Josh
Thanks guys. To anyone considering us, we are the real deal and I help out all the time here on XDA throughout the forums and I'm an active member.
He Did Good for Me
I sent my Samsung phone to mobiletechvideos to get unbricked, just got it back a few days ago, and it's indeed unbricked. That cost me $50 and postage, plus $10 for ICS and root access. Everything is as promised.
The turn-around time? He didn't quite meet his announced standard (perhaps the July 4 holiday was a factor) but I'm not complaining. I got it back 2 weeks and 2 days after I sent it in. Not bad.
If you're in New Zealand? You'll have a longer shipping time, I guess, but I'm sure he'll do a good job for you.
One thing ... if you're reading this Josh ... if you happen to remember, could you tell me what you did to unbrick my phone? I put up a thread on the TMobile site about it that drew more than 3,000 views and replies from 81 people, nothing suggested would work. You must know something the rest of us don't.
I'm also a little curious to know how you learned to do this stuff. Kindly, R
JTAG
I bought a Galaxy Note GT 7000 with GB then Rooted with Odin and flashed a couple of custom ROMs including King Droid v2&3. As soon as the Samsung stock ICS was leaked, (being confident after success with 4 different ROMs), I rushed into flashing buggy stock XXLPY and got stuck on ! yellow triangle! I tried XDA SuperBrick Odin, PIT, Bootloader, PDA, Phone, & CSC. Went well up to repeatedly hanging on factoryfs.img - NAND Write Start!! Looked for JTAG tech. Found the closest one to my home in Toronto Ontario Canada. NOT RECOMMENDING cellulartech.ca! I got my NOTE back a couple of weeks later in more or less the same condition? Because of your recommendations, I think I might look up mobiletechvideos.

My experience with MobileTechVideos
I am from Oceanside, CA and I sent my Samsung Infuse to Josh because I wanted to get the rear housing replace after dropping it at the gym. He was very understanding over the phone, taking plenty of time to talk to me and assure me of his talent and skill. I boxed my phone up and sent it off, and I was able to monitor every step of the way. Very professional. I've told quite a few of my Droid friends about his business.
After getting it back, I noticed a small glitch in it, and Josh immediately took responsibility for it. He offered to take it back to his shop and fix the problem, free of charge. I haven't received it back yet, but I have confidence that I'll see my phone any day now in perfect working order. I'll add to this post as soon as I get it and let everyone know how it went! :good:
Great work!
I was having problems with my Samsung Infuse power button. It's out of warranty, but I did have insurance through AT&T. I explored that, only to find that it was a $199.99 deductible, which I can't afford, nor want to pay. Especially since my upgrade is in January (Likely eyeing the HTC One X+ )
So after googling and searching fora, I read about Mobile Tech Videos on here. And read that someone suggested to a member with a similar issue.
I of course was very hesitant, like I'm sure many others, but figured... hey, $30, it's worth a shot, but I got it back and the power button looks absolutely perfect and good as new. And the phone is up and working again. After having borrowed an old iPhone 3G for about 2 weeks, I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received and more grateful to have Android.
Anyone that's having issues with their phone, MobileTechVideos is the way to go.
Again, thanks MobileTechVideos. And of course, XDA. Without either, I wouldn't have a functioning phone!
Another thumb up for these guys
Sent in my dead i747 for repair after I drove a stake through it's digital heart. MobileTech brought it back to life. These guys are worth every penny.
Be Aware.
I am extremely shocked on how MobileTechVideos screwed me over. I sent the phone to him about a week ago and got it back yesterday with no fix at all. I even have been sending him messages and he won't even respond. I was charged $75 and never got it back. What an unprofessional work of him to do. I think if he didn't know how to fix it, he won't even respond to your messages.

Saved my stupid life after I flashed incompatible ROM on my Galaxy Note(I). Symptoms were: no signs of life except when connected to PC you can see flashing "CDMA device...something" in Device Manager. Got it back in ~10 days (holidays and I live in remote area). Want to say THANKS and recommend MobileTechVideos to everyone has bricked device as a last resort. :good:
As of above complain - there is a kind of mistake or smthing, hope its resolved already.

This customer was refunded promptly and IN FULL of the $75 they paid due to their device having a bad EMMC chip. I was a few employees short that week (week within just a few days of Christmas) due to the holidays so some things like processing refunds fell a bit behind to keep all operations in order. We are now operating at fully capacity as usual...
Please note, if any questions are ever needed and response is needed faster than standard email replies (usually within 2 business days) please feel free to call directly at 657-444-JTAG to speak directly with Josh or another technician immediately during business hours.
Thanks again for the positive reviews everyone...

Thanks. Did you see my follow-up from December 31st? I want to send my phone soon, but I had some additional questions.
Hey I have a galaxy s 3 l710 (sprint).
I manage to brick it by installing the wrong kernel.
The only thing it does it shows is the light and had missing drivers.
I used driver max to get them and can see it as a com port in qpst.
Can a jig fix it or would I have to send it in to you?
This guy is the real deal, even if he's not all-powerful.
I sent him my bricked/fried HTC One X, which had stopped booting or even charging after using a faulty car charger (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35933372#post35933372).
Long story short, he was unable to fix the phone to a bootable status, but he did recover all of the files and photos that I had in it. Those photos had a lot of sentimental value for me, and to be honest they were what I most cared about when I realized the phone was bricked.
I recommend MobileTechVideos, even if I wish it hadn't been so expensive.
i send my sprint s3 in two days ago and called today. josh immeditialy answered the phone and answered all my questions cant wait to see the magic this guy can work!!
Sent in my hard bricked GS3 last week to Josh. Waiting to see what happens. Will post results.

[WANTED] Volume Buttons

As title suggests i have lost my volume buttons...HTC Said i can send it in for repair but they dont sell the part.....Anyone bought another case and willing to sell the spare volume buttons??
Come on guys I know some of you have bought a new case! unless you pulled the volume buttons off when doing the chrome frame mod you'll be fine
just purchase another back on ebay, or have htc send you a new one.
HTC Wont they will only offer repair service im not waiting 7 days without phone again! Don't really want to pay £30 when i only need volume buttons
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441706

I have seen that thread but after speaking to htc they want me to send it for repair,Online live chatting atm will see what happens
---------------------UPDATE---------------------
Alex: Hi Sean, thank you for contacting HTC Support, I am looking in to your query now.
Sean Mcardle: Hello and thanks
Sean Mcardle: hello?
Alex: Apologies Sean but the process is to send the phone and the cover for repair. They have to be sent in to be checked that they are in warranty to be swapped.
Sean Mcardle: Well i dont really want that, All i want is the volume buttons on the case! Can i not give you all the serial numbers? Sureley thats whats checked anyway?
Sean Mcardle: That'd be ANOTHER 7 days without my phone
Alex: We used to send out replacement back covers however they have just changed the process. We have now to book the device and the cover in for repair. I can try and escalate the matter if you like to see if we can send you a replacement button.
Alex: Sure. I'll try that first.
Sean Mcardle: Thankyou
Alex: Can I please take the SN?
Sean Mcardle: SH**********
Alex: Great, thank you. I'll raise an escalation and I'll let you know if it's been approved.
Sean Mcardle: Thanskyou will i be notified by email?
Alex: It will be via email, yes
Alex: On [email protected]
Sean Mcardle: Thanks for your help Alex i look forward to my response.Have a good evening

I got a new case of Htc last week for the volume buttons falling off they also said no I would have to buy a new back, then they sent me a link to customer feedback i left them negative feedback on every question then on the extra comments part i told them they were **** and would not be buying any more Htc products ever again, then a few days later they phoned me about the feedback i explained to them i thought the solution i was offered of spending £40 to buy a new back was unacceptable and they said ok we'll send you a new one in a week or so got it in less complain and ye shall prevail.
Yea i've been a pain in the ass on the phone to them saying ive owned many many HTC Devices, Still have a G1,Magic,Hero and desire and probably wont go for another HTC device if this is the build quality i am to expect. Also telling them that if i can make a volut of a matchstick i should have no problem fitting an OEM one!
As foir getting one a week ago, Are you USA? I think the trading standards laws differ slightly but i presume if i get them enough stick and abuse on Twitter and over the phone they will just get fed up land send one lol
lost the volume buttons on my original case too. bought a oem sensation back cover for $20 on EBAY... perfect
Just go to your local wireless retailer and ask them to swap the back on a warranty return Sensation, that's what I did.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G
No as easy as that in the UK.They are only obliged to replace defects within 30 days..
As it happens HTC must have got fed up with me moaning as i received my new case today

[Q] Please Need Help With Verizon Bricked S3

So I bricked My Verizon S3 recently and now stuck with a dead S3 so I decide to do research and find what to do. (International Rom)
So I learned about JTAG and purchased a JTAG service on Ebay for $29.95
(Sent it out, received conformation on receiving the item, day later recive email that
"Hi,
I was able successfully flash the bootchain and repair the bootloader, but the phone does not boot to download mode. The phone may have hardware defect preventing it booting. I will ship the phone back to you and process a refund. you will receive your return tracking number via Ebay shipping. Sorry your phone could not be fixed."
So got it back and sent it to Samsung and got BER (Beyond Economical Repair)
Got it today
What should I do?
Should I send it to mobiletechvideos even though It's already been JTAGED and also the fact that there refund policy is very iffy since I'm spending about $90 for service and if there unable to fix it I get $60 back
Sorry for the long post but really need help on what to do Please and thank you
Oh man sorry to hear that. If it was me id take the chance on losing $30 and send it in, only because id want a 2nd opinion. worse case you part it out on ebay.

Not sure what more you're expecting anyone to suggest besides sending it into Mobile Tech. I guess you could email them and ask for their input on what the previous failed JTAG attempt stated. Wouldn't hurt I suppose. Mobile Tech Videos is usually the service I see folks send their GSIII into.

If it doesn't boot at all you can always take it to the Verizon store you bought it at and tell them that it's broken and wont turn on anymore. I'm not sure how long their warranty is good for.
