What do I look for? Its rooted already the guy said he's had it like 40 days and only reason for getting rid of it is because it don't support his work email? Anything I should know to look for? Or if its stolen how do I find out?

You could always call into att customer service and see if the imei has been reported stolen before you buy it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you did that before giving him the cash. I've had people ask me if they could call in to make sure it was legit before they bought off me. Also, make sure its not water damaged in any way.

Yeah I had just email him and asked for that. Was getting back on here to say I asked for the imei number lol beat me too it. Is there only the two spots on the inspire for water damage? Under battery door and under sim cover piece?
IMEI checked out. So probably picking it up tomorrow if everything else checks out

Will do. Yeah, once I figure it all out.
Ok, so first off. I was on ICS leak 1 while trying to fxz witch the script in the development section.
Here's where it gets bad. My laptop died while it was at rebooting bootloader.
D:
Now, my phone will NOT turn on.
No screen, sounds, nothing
If I plug in the charger, the light will turn on and off quickly but when I unplug it, it becomes constant
Before anyone asks, YES I charged it.
I can't get into fastboot! NOOOOOO
Someone please help!

Yes, it doesn't recognize it as any device.

Thanks though :/
Yeah, sounds like all the symptoms of a hard brick to me. However, do you have a warranty on the device still? If so, you can try for a replacement unit. I just sent mine off to Motorola in McAllen, Texas (I'm in Fort Worth, Texas) last Tuesday after a soft bricking resulting from testing ICS leak #2 to GB FXZ, and I've got my replacement shipped and expected to arrive Monday -- 4 days before my warranty expires, mind you. Point is, if you have a warranty, open a repair ticket via Motorola's online support site. You may still have some hope going that route...

Nothing. If it's under warranty, it's covered under warranty -- at no cost to you. They'll send you an email with a shipping label after you open a repair ticket with them, just print that out and place it on the box you ship it in, and take it to your nearest FedEx drop off location (that's the only cost to you), which is usually a post office. Then, you can log into the Moto website with your open ticket URL to track the repair status...

Uh no. You need to contact AT&T and have them file a missing phone report. They will ship you a new one for free

Lol if you can't contact ATT, contact the 3rd party. If it's not a company, contact USPS...and take pictures!
Hope you find it bro
Just opened a claim in the loose in the mail office, hopefully it was recovered and will get to me, we will see
Filing a claim does nothing from personal experience. You will have to go higher than them, if it does not turn up. No one will listen to your complaint unless you file a claim first. So at least you got that out of they way.
I know this won't help at this point, but anyone sending a phone that costs hundreds of dollars through the mail, should insure it. Insurance costs just a few dollars.
I doubt you really have much recourse. Otherwise, anybody can punch a hole in a box they received and tell the post office "You lost my $300 phone".
Lol did you sign ups delivery confirmation

To me it sound like hardware defect and you should send your phone back to Google to get a new one.

Call them back : you can return your device and then they will send you an other one. This way you won't be temporaly charged.
What I mean is that this is the other way to go : send the mobile first, then receive an other one WITHOUT credit card debit.

I am realy not sure this is a legal RMA process in Europe.
I have had a closer look to PlayStore RMA's rules, and for France it clearly states that you have 15 days after you bought the device to ask for refound EDIT : and no need to explain why :
-15 days to contact Google's RMA's services
- then 7 days to ship your device to Google
- then they have 14 days to refound your Google wallet's account.
Try to check return policies for your country, but I think they are all the same for all European country.

That's too bad it's quite the phone for it's price. Maybe check out the Moto G if it's available in your area. Any phone has a chance of defects however.
I emailed them and asked how long until i receive my return package they said
"Hello,
Thank you for contacting Google, It was a pleasure assisting you. Thanks for contacting us about refund/warranty replacement options for your device. At this time, refund and warranty replacement service from Google is only provided within the country from which your device was originally purchased. Under no circumstances can we cover international shipping costs to return your device to the original country of purchase. If you have any further questions regarding this policy feel free to reply to this email or contact us at 855-83NEXUS, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Please note that some manufacturers offer warranty repair service in select areas outside of the original country of purchase. Please check your device manufacturer's website to get more information about out of country warranty repair services."
Well what can I say, a complete farce from start to finish.
From pre ordering to the numerous phone calls and emails to cancel my order and then to try and return my phone for a full refund.
In the end I had to get the police, Santander bank and trading standards involved to get my money back.
I had to wait 3 weeks for my order to ship to me in which time they wouldn't cancel my order even though the phone wasn't built or shipped.
They then said they would send out a pre paid label for me to return the phone, 6 times I had to request this and they never sent the labels while the 14 day returns time scale ran out due to this! I rang DHL and they told me no request was ever made for a returns label!
This left me with no option but to contact the police ,my bank and trading standards, all of whom were brilliant and helped me out :good:, my bank did a charge bank and refunded me my money back. All emails that I sent and received was shown to the above and once Motorola found out I had contacted the above they refused to respond to me anymore
I now have a brand new and sealed moto x style sat on my shelf , I have my money back and I have done all I can to return the phone, I don't know what to do with the phone now?
This was my 1st experience with Motorola, I have read similar experiences , and no doubt that there are lots of happy customers. How can they treat customers like this.
Motorolas loss was Nexus 6p gain
Interesting, I got my return label in about an hour because I requested it online. No phone call was needed. I didn't send my phone back but I could. From what I have read that is the way to do this, go online, submit a return within a few hours you will have an email with the label, end of the issue. I think you will eventually have to send it back or more legal issues may occur.
Seems to me that the phone support is poor so just don't go through them
I wasn't aware you could request online, but I had numerous emails and phone calls asking for a returns label that should have been noted.
Yes i have the kept the phone in safe keeping until they ask for it back!
Did you check your junk mail folder? After 6 requests I feel like they would have sent at least one label.

doesn't matter at this point. Within the 14 days you can use the device as a daily driver so to them it doesn't matter. If I were you I would play with it. Just don't break it lol
Man, I feel for ya. I hate seeing stories like this. A horrible customer service experience can completely ruin what would otherwise be a nice device experience. Glad you got your money back in any case.
Have you considered giving the device another shot since you now have it? You'd have to send the money back again, but you wouldn't have to wait on shipping.
What made you not want the phone in the first place? Delays in shipping?

If it were me, I'd leave it sealed for 90 days at least. If at that point there is no dispute to the charge back from the bank, no contact from Motorola, etc, you should be safe to say you have a free phone. Keep in mind, just because you got your money back doesn't mean Motorola isn't disputing it on their end. And the bank could at any moment take that money back. If it comes to that, you could need to provide a sealed box device. If you can't, you could be out of luck.
Right now you have a free phone. If you sit on it for a few months, and nothing more comes of it, you still have a free phone.

You know, reading this post just made me decide to go ahead and unlock my device (that I've had for a week) for rooting/moding. I was on the fence because if I unlocked it I would have lost my warranty. But knowing I will never have to deal with Moto Customer Service is a good thing. I won't wanna lose my phone for weeks if something goes wrong anyway, so I'll be better with my local repair shop.
My previous phone, Galaxy S4, developed the dreaded swollen battery. And they wanted me to send it back for a replacement, instead of just sending me a battery. So that makes me not want to deal with customer service at all.
Sorry to hear about your experience. though.

Motorola contracts FedEx for the return. Not DHL. You went the wrong route.
Also, make sure your Motorola account has the correct email address. I used Google Plus login when I created the Motorola account and it showed some weird email address when I check my Motorola profile. I had to go in there and updated to the correct email address.
You will want to send the phone back. Contact any FedEx retail location, give them your address and they may have your label on file. If you decide to keep the phone, Motorola might bill you for it. If you don't pay, they will send you to collection. Good luck.
