Here is the apk..... as I am on GB 2.3.3, is there any way to tweak the apk to work on GB?
Link:

I was just talking about this in the the xpmb thread. Over awesome to have an all in one emulator and free. I placed a little. Works well for what I've done so far.

WTF virtaul boy emulator? Does anyone know of a standalone version of just this? Great find ozzman
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk HD

I installed it on my XPlay running ICS 2 days ago.
And I can say unfortunately it's not Xperia Play optimized. Input settings don't have option for Xperia Play gamepad.

I salute you, and your views...
On ther twitter, they said they will look into 2.3 at some point, as there are a couple of Play owners(myself included), have asked for it.
ICS for gaming on the Play is hit and miss, but on GB it seems far better.
EDIT: "Squarepusher" on their forums, said Android 2.3 support will probably be done soon., so hopefully not too long.

If they can manage to include nds, n64, and psp emulator, with xperia play optimized, it would be totally ultimate..

You should retry it again - install the update from the Play Store. The Xperia Play controls should work now - if they don't, let me know.
Xperias stuck on Gingerbread (2.3) will have to wait until I get around to adding Android 2.3 support - whic hopefully won't take too long.

The current GBA core uses an emulator that is more accurate than Gameboid (ie. a simple port of gpSP) but it is also much, much slower.
Anyway, you will get a much faster GBA core once I port gpSP and add that to the list. However, the VBA Next core will still remain as part of the package for people who want to choose between the two.
Also, GBA is only one core - there are about 13 other cores in this thing - I'm sure you can find something else in the meantime that is more to your liking.

Hi there,
we worked today on Android 2.3 compatibility.
We were able to confirm it runs on a HTC HD2 (2010/2009 phone) - Gingerbread 2.3.3. I just need to know if this works on mainstream Android 2.3 devices now.
If I post an APK here, will you guys be able to test it for me? I want to make sure that there are no big lingering bugs remaining when I push this to the Google Play store.
As soon as you guys can confirm it's working, I can push it out to the App Store and you guys can ditch this test build.
So - any of you want to test?

Count me in.

Yes same concept but a little better implemented. Plus the big bonus that you can map touchpads to screen for full Analog control.
I cant try it yet but can anybody tell me if it works fine on CM9 with touchpads and all and if it is possible to do this on the browser (touchpads).
I do have a question about all this though... What's the SPECIFIC reason why ICS is getting all of the love? I mean, Mupen is the only app that got the touch pads working on GB. Is it just easier for ICS and people are just lazing out on the GB coding? ICS isn't even officially out and developers are making things ICS only... Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Google implemented support for keyboards/usb devices etc in ICS which has made it easier to implement the gamepad support - I think.

Correct. ICS has native controller support built in to Googles code so it is very easy to code there apps for controllers. On Gingerbread you have to code for Sony's framework which is not cost effective because of the time it takes and the market (just Xperia play users). FPSE and N64oid could of done this a while back but the dev's knowing ICS was coming left it till now for optimization.
This native support should mean any game made for USB pads (e.g SoulCraft , Inertia plus many more titles as it the next big thing) should be supported on ICS Xperia Play touchpads.

hey guys will this app allow me to map my (xp ice cream ) d-pad controls to the onscreen fifa 12 analog stick
reason i ask was fifa 12 did not allow dpad support, i'm hoping to achive it with this app
This works but some games close the app so it defeats the purpose. Dead space is one of them. Ill test more.
Edit after trying the deadspace from ea site all works
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda premium
how do i map the buttons to screen presses?
After you leave the main app go to the addon with the touch test hold search. Now press button or stick and touch screen where you want it. You can take a screenshot of the game and also setup controls however needed. If you need a slide hold on to the stick for 3 seconds. Only game that it failed on is dead space it closes after the game runs but all gameloft I've tried works. Btw I'm on cm9 fxp117 great addition to cm9 makes the gamepad and touchpads work
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda premium
We need to make some keysetups and export them so we can share them. If author of this thread doesn't want to do it ill start a thread
Edit tried the dead space that ea had for free and this works perfect with it. The market dead space doesn't.

Emulators recommendation ESPECIALLY for fighting games

Hey guys
First of all please do not disregard this topic. Even though it is widely discussed I'm more interested in a an updated form and especially for fighting games.
So, what emulated fighting games would you guys recommend for the Xp and what emulators to run them.
For now I use neodroid and I mostly play garou which is an awesome fighting game.

There is a cps2 emulator by the same developer as the neogeo emulator which plays a lot of those classic street fighter games flawlessly.
the emu was on the play market but got taken down, if you search the general android section you will find the app for free.

Instead for ps1 X-men vs Street fighter...
On TigerMame You have one of the best fighting game ever (little bit forgotten) Street Fighter 3 - and all Neo-Geo and CPS1 2 3 games works great with savestates (but for 4 months saves doesnt work in my XP ) .
Gensoid - Street of Rage 1&2&3, Mortal kombat etc.
FPSE - Fighting Force, Mortal Kombat, Tekken.
All emulators have in libary of games - fighting games.

Silly question, but does anyone else find it difficult to do quarter circle moves with the xperia d-pad? Are there any tips? It may just be me as I've always struggled to do them without a joystick, and tend to be play individual Tekken 3 characters who don't use them as much (e.g. Julia Chang).

I'm the same way, except I play on a Galaxy S 2 (Epic 4G Touch) with a DualShock 3 connected via Bluetooth.
I love nothing more than rocking some JoJo's Bizarre Adventure on my phone...but being able to run Mark Of The Wolves flawlessly would be better, IMO.
I wish these emulators would allow you access to dipswitches / operator modes. That would be super nice, seeing as all of their PC counterparts (and console counterparts, too) allow it. Having to add credits is a pain in the balls - I'd just like to set for Free Play and be done with it.

A New arcade emulator (Final Burn Alpha Port) for Android. The Dev has posted this in the main XDA apps section (Full Version For FREE) but if people missed it i wanted to bring it to your attention. Works fine with Xperia Play and controls. Its already mapped if just click on the Joystick icon in-game and select hardware keys and turn off the on-screen pad. Been able to play loads of sweet games like metal slug 5, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future and Progear . Hopefully this will be supported better then Tiger Mame.

FBA is a great emulator so I'll test this port. Thanks for sharing this info.

Tiger's was a Mame emulator. This is the same sort of thing (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) but final burn is said to be faster with some games, better then Mame on lower end device's and has a good support. Really its down to your choice what one you use. The only difference with this and TigerMame as an Android emu is this is still in development, Plays more CPS3 titles, UI is much better and other small details really.

This emu only reads games from arcade machine boards not CD img's. You will find them on Google/Web in Zip format (Don't Unzip or rename. The emulator reads them like this). No way else of acquiring them unless you carry around a 5-6ft Arcade Machine's with you
Really? Tiger Arcade even thanks the FBA team in the credits and many state that it is in fact a port of FBA. Like I said my FBA romset from windows mobile 6.5 work perfectly on Tiger Arcade and the FBA team even states in their history "FB Alpha supports games on Capcom CPS-1 and CPS-2 hardware, SNK Neo-Geo hardware, Toaplan hardware, Cave hardware" which is the exact same as the supported list for Tiger Arcade. I'm not trying to be argumentative but I'd love to hear from someone else familiar with the two emulators to see if they also believe it is the same emulator. And even still, is this coded better than Tiger Arcade and which CPS3 games does it support over Tiger (since I haven't had an issue in any) because if so I'll check it out but if it has a way to go and supports the same rom-set I'll pass.

Never knew till checked it out fully. Tiger is based on FBA even though he states it as mame just looked at his source on github https://github.com/tigerking/arcade/blob/master/license.txt .Still this should be better due to UI and later FBA code then tiger used over a year ago with his. Plus the fact that it's still being developed and is free (tigerMAME) you have to pay to save as I can remember. This also will run on later Android OS as I know his emulator has issues on ICS and Jellybean (but does not really affect play users). Sorry for the miss information

Yeah, the controllers are fully mapped but I would like to arrange them... Neogeo and CPS have differents button order.
Thanks for your response, I'll be wait for the next update.
This emulator is really good. Already impressive for an early/incomplete release.
What i notice:
-If you did not download the 100MB package, it will always ask you to do it
-Buttons are set. I tried to edit the xml file in the data/data folder (the format looks exactly like neodroid), but it did not work. I want to change it because I am very used to playstation controls with like MvC for example.
-I sometimes experience force close if i end the emulation (does not matter much)
-Cannot overwrite a saved state. Is this how it really works?

Ahhh, I didn't know it was free and based off a newer version. I'll have to keep an eye on this then. I was actually really let down when I got my Xperia Play and certain FBA games I was used to playing on my Dash 3g actually ran slower despite the Xperia Play's incredible processing superiority compared to the D3. I hope we see great things out of this because if the winmo version of FBA is any benchmark we should easily see full speed with sound on in most games whereas I currently play them all without sound.
GREAT
i hope can play golden ax
Hello!
What settings (keys) that you guys use this emulator? Could you pass me please, I am not getting set here
thank you
could the dev please add autofire option in the control options menu (fba on all other devices has this)
its a real chore rapidly stabbing away on physical buttons, not to mention bad for the hardware,
and rapid stabbing of the fire button on touchscreen controls is even worse, whole device shakes, etc.
cheers
thanks for making afba!
but would you let me know how to get into the software setting?
you know like, credits life difficulty some sort of.
because i'm playing dodonpachi dai-ou-jou.
but, it's default setting is easy difficulty with 'discontinue' on!
so i tried service on the menu but, it doesn't work.
I recommend FBA4DROID 1.65, is similar aFBA. :good:

Ravensword: Shadowlands - out, but without XP support

As you can see guys, Crescent Moon Games plans to relase their Ravensword for Android too . Of course there isn't any official state about Xperia Play optimization, but let's hope they want to be better then in Aralon: Sword And Shadow. Even if not - let's pray for no lags in the game, and we can easily make new profile via GameKeyboard (which I'll make like in Aralon, just follow this thread ^^). For now, few screenshots and trailer/teaster of it, and be patient to wait for it .
Cheers!

UPDATE:
The game is out, but like Aralon, there is no support. But of course GameKeyboard can make magic, so we just need right .gkp (I will try make one in the future, but not now cause I don't have free time last days ;/). Be warned it needs much free RAM, so maybe delete some apps and clear RAM via Advanced Killers or by making reboot, so you can get best possible. Here is Google Play link to download .
Awesome.... thanks for bringing this out. Look forward to its release. I have emailed them about three times asking about XP optimization and they never ever responded to my email. Lets hope though that this is optimized... that would be sweet.
It's nearly impossible, but maybe they're planning to relase optimized Ravensword then making their older Aralon modded to work with XPlay. Just my optimistic feel of my pesimist character . Let's wait and we will see, the most important is no lags, we can make controls ourselves (but of course not good as developers can make).
Just thought I would add this.. straight from the horses mouth:
http://www.droidgamers.com/forums/topic/177-crescent-moon-brings-ravensword-2-to-android/
I agree though.. better to have no lags then no support.. we can always use gamekeyboard.
It's coming in two days

I really hope the turn down texture sizes and stuff for android or at least make it configurable.
I am kind of pessimistic about this game running on the play ... look at the city at 15:20
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKuj2uP0up4
Edit: Its out for Android 4+ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crescentmoongames.ravensword2
Reason given by the dev: "It requires Android 4.0 and up because of the effects" *****ty excuse*
Could someone test if it is running under ICS/JB ?
Edit2: CM_Games saying Unity Engine is at fault for chaining certain effects to Android 4+
If they really say the truth than a whole lot of games in the future wont run on the play ...

Odp: Ravensword: Shadowlands - coming for Android this month! How about Xperia Play?
I played it 5 minutes only but on PAC Man + Turbo Kernel 576mHz <-- forget too change (and 512mb SWAP with swappiness=0 if it gives sth) no lags. Maybe when there will be more things to do (more people, different buildings, shadows) for GPU/CPU it will start to lag but til now its even more than playable (for me)
Ofc no gamepad, but i think this will be easy to use GameKeyboard

Why only android 4+
Hi
If the game don't work on 2.3, it's certainly because the game was develloped with the Unity 4 !
This awesome 3D engine support from now only android 4.0/+ (Like for the new Shadowgun I think )
But if the game was not develloped with Unity, dev's sux :silly:

15-30, but rom (or jb) has really good multitasking/task manager and when im playing it moves some apps to swap and kill other so there is no lags (or only little) and after ending the game i have 200-250mb free for moment

Wow. That's awesome. Could you please upload a video of this running on the XPlay? Looking at the screenshots on Google Play, I would have thought this to be impossible. A video would help me silence all my friends who make fun of my device config.
This shows how much the XPlay has been improved by the contributions of so many XDA members (no thanks to Sony). 2 years running & still this device runs games like Bladeslinger etc.

The famous Wii/GameCube emulator starts its way to Android devices
It will never ever run at all on Xperia Play (well a real game) so dont ever think it will. But thought it was cool to put up for the gamers here getting newer devices and to talk about the future
DOWNLOAD GOOGLE PLAY
Description
THIS APP DOES NOT COME WITH ROMS
- You must have the right to a given ROM before you play it!
- A number of public domain games/demos are available at http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Main_PageThis is a public preview release of this Dolphin for Android.
This is currently in early beta testing, expect slow speeds, graphical glitches, and a myriad of problems with it.
If you're expecting reasonable speeds out of this, you are sorely mistaken. This will run slow on every single Android device, no matter if it is the most powerful one in the world.
Once we port our OpenGL plugin over, and you use a OpenGL ES 3 capable phone, this will improve a bit.
http://wiibrew.org/ has a bunch of free homebrew applications to try out.
One I particularly like to use is Starfield
http://sonicadvance11.dyndns.org/starfield.dol
Some caveats
- It will crash. Alot.
- Rotations don't work well or at all.
- There isn't /any/ input
- It might need to be force closed and ran multiple times to work.
- It renders video with the CPU entirely with our VideoSoftware backend.
Pros of this, is it will run on almost any hardware. Some limitations are
- Phones that support OpenGL ES 2 (99.8% of the Android Market)
- Phones that have at least 1Gb of RAM
This app is licensed by the GNU GPL v2, and the full source code is available through the public GIT repository at https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/

WII and GameCube .
The app has been put up as proof of concept (Shows it does work if not very buggy as expected) to get people to donate to the project.
Darn it, Android 4.0 and up, can't attempt to run it on my Xperia Play 2.3.7, or my Honeycomb tablet
Thanks for sharing it though !
lol thats emulator'ception ... vba gx running in dolphin xD
Hey thanks for the support.
I can rebuild the APK later today to support Android 3.1 as well for people that want to mess with it.
I just got a nexus 10 and I'm going to put this on there so I can follow the updates. (Stock 4.2.2 is perfect from Google and needs no editing :thumbup

Looking at the current state of PSP emulation on XPlay, I'm not supporting that statement anymore.
Not long ago I would call delusional anyone hoping for decent PSP emulation on an android phone. Now I'm playing PSP games on my Xplay and even on a weak X10 mini pro.
I'm not sure about what to think anymore... It's really impossible? Are the devs underestimating themselves?

My second gen i5 runs Wii games with no problems, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Metroid Prime 3 and many more run amazing with fullspeed, no bugs and in gorgeous FullHD.
There are only a few minor games I don't even play that may still have some bugs.
