The famous Wii/GameCube emulator starts its way to Android devices
It will never ever run at all on Xperia Play (well a real game) so dont ever think it will. But thought it was cool to put up for the gamers here getting newer devices and to talk about the future
DOWNLOAD GOOGLE PLAY
Description
THIS APP DOES NOT COME WITH ROMS
- You must have the right to a given ROM before you play it!
- A number of public domain games/demos are available at http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Main_PageThis is a public preview release of this Dolphin for Android.
This is currently in early beta testing, expect slow speeds, graphical glitches, and a myriad of problems with it.
If you're expecting reasonable speeds out of this, you are sorely mistaken. This will run slow on every single Android device, no matter if it is the most powerful one in the world.
Once we port our OpenGL plugin over, and you use a OpenGL ES 3 capable phone, this will improve a bit.
http://wiibrew.org/ has a bunch of free homebrew applications to try out.
One I particularly like to use is Starfield
http://sonicadvance11.dyndns.org/starfield.dol
Some caveats
- It will crash. Alot.
- Rotations don't work well or at all.
- There isn't /any/ input
- It might need to be force closed and ran multiple times to work.
- It renders video with the CPU entirely with our VideoSoftware backend.
Pros of this, is it will run on almost any hardware. Some limitations are
- Phones that support OpenGL ES 2 (99.8% of the Android Market)
- Phones that have at least 1Gb of RAM
This app is licensed by the GNU GPL v2, and the full source code is available through the public GIT repository at https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/

Awesome is that for Wii? Or game cube? Or both? It'd be awesome if they get it Smooth enough to work on a tablet like the nexus 10

WII and GameCube .
The app has been put up as proof of concept (Shows it does work if not very buggy as expected) to get people to donate to the project.

Darn it, Android 4.0 and up, can't attempt to run it on my Xperia Play 2.3.7, or my Honeycomb tablet
Thanks for sharing it though !

lol thats emulator'ception ... vba gx running in dolphin xD

Hey thanks for the support.
I can rebuild the APK later today to support Android 3.1 as well for people that want to mess with it.

I just got a nexus 10 and I'm going to put this on there so I can follow the updates. (Stock 4.2.2 is perfect from Google and needs no editing :thumbup

Looking at the current state of PSP emulation on XPlay, I'm not supporting that statement anymore.
Not long ago I would call delusional anyone hoping for decent PSP emulation on an android phone. Now I'm playing PSP games on my Xplay and even on a weak X10 mini pro.
I'm not sure about what to think anymore... It's really impossible? Are the devs underestimating themselves?

My second gen i5 runs Wii games with no problems, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Metroid Prime 3 and many more run amazing with fullspeed, no bugs and in gorgeous FullHD.
There are only a few minor games I don't even play that may still have some bugs.

[APP] OnLive Viewer from HTC Flyer (works on Xperia Play)

It looks like the OnLive Viewer app from the HTC Flyer has been ripped and the .apk available for other devices. You can find the original topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138194
And the post with the .apk is here:

I saw this the other day and decided to give it a shot on my Xperia Play. The first time I tested it, it would not connect. However, I tested it again this morning and was able to login and watch videos that others had recorded. Everything ran pretty smooth and looked pretty good.
Even though this isn't an official release, I think that there could be a lot of potential for OnLive with Android devices, especially the Xperia Play. I look forward to seeing where they take it.
I just got this the other day and can say im excited. I use onlive daily and think everyone should try it i have over 20 games and the microconsole and bought the xperia play with hopes of onlive for it.

There was some news that Sony Ericsson gave some money to the people at Onlive(even tho HTC gave so much more). Onlive for the xperia play would be perfect with and without their new HDMI cradle
Any chance on getting this on the Android Market? would be excellent so if there are any updates released we can get them automatically via the market.
Thanks for the app though
can't wait til we get a player app. this phone + onlive would end my productivity for life.

OnLive is a cloud based gaming application. It's primary use is so mid to low end computers can play top tear games that there computer could not play in the native way. This application is a viewer, it will let you watch brag clips, and live feeds of your OnLive friends playing. You can also watch trailers of games you may want to buy. The hope is soon OnLive will bring out a full flegged client, allowing us to play games like Dirt 3 and Deus Ex 3 on our xperia play

It already is possible. HTC is launching an OnLive version of the Evo 4G. It comes with the first playable OnLive client, HDMI out and a special OnLive controller. Once its released, because we have a H/W pad, the client can most prob be ripped from the Evo for us

when you open the viewer and go to gallery to watch people playing the games. It is LIVE. That is why it is so different from you tube. A LIVE stream of the game being played is the viewer. Being able to send the controls back to the server makes it a player.
Hence, netflix streaming + video games + plus hardware controls on our phone = win. Go to google and lookup onlive, or for a demo that requires nothing to install, to see how a service like this could work, go lookup gaikai. that lets you do game demo's for things like crysis 2 in your browser, using your keyboard/mouse to control, at full resolution, even if your computer can't handle the game.
Just tried it on my Xperia Play, it needs a steady connection to run (WiFi-N with good speed).

Meanwhile an .isav file was created. Anyone know what is exactly?

It's made by Robert ****in Broglia!!!! That's what makes it so much better.
I jest, I jest... I don't actually have this one yet, but I do have all of Broglia's other emulators, and I can tell you that this dude's serious about quality assurance... to a level that most other emulator devs haven't been.
Can someone who has this test the public domain GBA homebrew game Wonkie Guy? It's not even a full game, yet it's been one of my favorites for near a decade... and more importantly, every other GBA emulator I've tried curled up in fetal position and started bawling every time I tried to load it.
Brilliant. I bought his GBC and NGP emulators and they both worked flawlessly, so going to buy this to replace Gameboid. Top notch :good:
Might sound stupid but can you map the dpad to the touchpads in this emulator? - Thanks
Gameboid works good for me but my biggest problem is the graphics look blurry from the upscaling. I would buy this emulator if there is a setting which adds filters to make the games look "better"
I hate to say it but I think people should wait before buying this one. Having bought and now had a chance to test it, I consider the performance of it to be much poorer than Gameboid.
Noticeable on-screen judder during playback with frameskip enabled and slows to a crawl when frameskip is disabled. Sound isn't much better. One can only hope that this gets fixed and much improved with further updates.
The reason I bought this emulator is because all the emulators by this developer allow you to turn off the blurry graphics in the settings, unlike Gameboid and other emulators.
The emulator however is a bit slower but at 1.6GHz all games I tried were full speed to me.
Hope FPse does this (touchpad) in the future, will definitely get this app.

Question?
Does it support Netplay or emulated cable link? for example Mario Kart or Pokemon games
Games like Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Metroid Zero Mission run laggy in GBA.emu.
In gameboid doesn't happen.
Went ahead and bit the bullet.
It plays the games that failed to load on Gameboid. I am satisfied

Seeing as none of his other emulators have cheat capability (if that is incorrect plz correct me) on Android OR iOS I doubt it. And I have both versions (Xperia Play and iOS {5.1.1 Jailbroken on iPhone 4S}) and often sound is a problem in some games like Sonic Advance 3 where all you hear is the music and nothing else (like jumping noises, or other collision noises) and the sound is crap without frame skip to 1.

[PSX Emu] ePSXe for Android

ePSXe has been released officially for Android on Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.epsxe.ePSXe
It's important to say: Doesn't support the Xperia Play hardware buttons and has less configuration than FPSe.
After a 4 years hiatus, it is finally time for some news about ePSXe's development.
ePSXe 1.8.0 is almost finished and is currently in testing phase. If all goes well we expect to release it in a few weeks. This version will include compressed iso support (PBP), SBI support (such as used by redump.org), updates for multitap, disc change and spu and of course a lot of compatibility related fixes.
We were thinking of different ways to get funds for the development of ePSXe and finally decided to develop an Android port. If you want to support the ePSXe development please buy the Android port in the Google Play Market. It contains the ePSXe core, the internal SPU plugin, a new experimental internal soft GPU plugin and a new 2 players mode for tablets.
We would like to give our thanks to Gladiator, from www.psxdatacenter.com, for the thousands of tests he has done in the last 4 years. Without his help creating a version with high compatibility would have been almost impossible. Many thanks to you and your brother . We would also want to give our thanks to Shalma who worked on ePSXe Shark, several plugins and plugins "repairs series". He did a wonderful job, some would even consider it "magic", finding then fixing numerous bugs and deserves our most sincere thanks and admiration.
Finally we want to thank you the ePSXe users for supporting our 12 years old child "ePSXe"
We have created a twitter account "epsxeteam", where we expect your impressions about the emulator. Please don't use this account to request support and instead use ngemu.com forums.
Regards,
ePSXe Team.

1.7.6 support Xperia Play joystick now.
Environment music and sound are great than FPSE.
But stage change in game is small lag than FPSE.
Anyone I like ePSXe, ePSXe shows perfect experience for game playing.
Does it support touchpads? This could be a fantastic when they implent touchpads support!
Wysyłane z mojego R800i za pomocą Tapatalk 2
Speedwise it runs perfectly, but CDDA sounds are a bit buggy. But for now, it's looks promising and could turn out to be better than FPSe.
This is a really cool idea!
Not sure how well it would work in real life though
It's good to have an alternative to fpse since psx4droid didn't work on GB 2.3.4
I just bought the app to give it a whirl. So far Crash bandicoot 2 runs sweet as a nut. Testing chrono cross right now which also seems pretty spot on!
There are a few little audio niggles but I can live with that.
Also latest version has button mapping!
For people who are intrested i'm using the AOKP version of ICS. I haven't over clocked my CPU either
The hardware buttons work fine, also it's possible to map volume buttons as R2 and L2.
Unlike FPSe you can use and map the circle button normally (IMO).
Also the emulator has preview screenshots in Load State menu. :good:
The bad part: The game doesn't pause when you press the Menu button
Soul Reaver: The game flashes when you play it.

Very good emulator. Graphics aren't anything to write home about at the minute, but it's super reliable. Suikoden 1, which has sound skip on FPSE and native emulator, plays perfectly sound and all. All the 3D Final Fantasys too.
Haven't found a game that it doesn't play perfectly yet.
This works really well tried marvel vs capcom mgs vr missions dino crisis and star wars episode one

Working great on Samsung Galaxy SIII (USA Verizon SCH-I535 ICS 4.0.4), besides aforementioned audio hiccups.
Is there a way to use the analog sticks from my bluetooth gamepad?
This sounds good.
FPSE is good, but updates seem to make some games work better and some worse. Plus, I hate the way you have to mess with loads of options for each game. Was gutted when my complete Tekken 3 save went missing too.
Think I'll give this a go.

Ravensword: Shadowlands - out, but without XP support

As you can see guys, Crescent Moon Games plans to relase their Ravensword for Android too . Of course there isn't any official state about Xperia Play optimization, but let's hope they want to be better then in Aralon: Sword And Shadow. Even if not - let's pray for no lags in the game, and we can easily make new profile via GameKeyboard (which I'll make like in Aralon, just follow this thread ^^). For now, few screenshots and trailer/teaster of it, and be patient to wait for it .
Cheers!

UPDATE:
The game is out, but like Aralon, there is no support. But of course GameKeyboard can make magic, so we just need right .gkp (I will try make one in the future, but not now cause I don't have free time last days ;/). Be warned it needs much free RAM, so maybe delete some apps and clear RAM via Advanced Killers or by making reboot, so you can get best possible. Here is Google Play link to download .
Awesome.... thanks for bringing this out. Look forward to its release. I have emailed them about three times asking about XP optimization and they never ever responded to my email. Lets hope though that this is optimized... that would be sweet.
It's nearly impossible, but maybe they're planning to relase optimized Ravensword then making their older Aralon modded to work with XPlay. Just my optimistic feel of my pesimist character . Let's wait and we will see, the most important is no lags, we can make controls ourselves (but of course not good as developers can make).
Just thought I would add this.. straight from the horses mouth:
http://www.droidgamers.com/forums/topic/177-crescent-moon-brings-ravensword-2-to-android/
I agree though.. better to have no lags then no support.. we can always use gamekeyboard.

Reason given by the dev: "It requires Android 4.0 and up because of the effects" *****ty excuse*
Could someone test if it is running under ICS/JB ?
Edit2: CM_Games saying Unity Engine is at fault for chaining certain effects to Android 4+
If they really say the truth than a whole lot of games in the future wont run on the play ...

Then, it does it want to say that they it are not going to adapt to GB?:banghead:
Odp: Ravensword: Shadowlands - coming for Android this month! How about Xperia Play?
I played it 5 minutes only but on PAC Man + Turbo Kernel 576mHz <-- forget too change (and 512mb SWAP with swappiness=0 if it gives sth) no lags. Maybe when there will be more things to do (more people, different buildings, shadows) for GPU/CPU it will start to lag but til now its even more than playable (for me)
Ofc no gamepad, but i think this will be easy to use GameKeyboard

Why only android 4+
Hi
If the game don't work on 2.3, it's certainly because the game was develloped with the Unity 4 !
This awesome 3D engine support from now only android 4.0/+ (Like for the new Shadowgun I think )
But if the game was not develloped with Unity, dev's sux :silly:

15-30, but rom (or jb) has really good multitasking/task manager and when im playing it moves some apps to swap and kill other so there is no lags (or only little) and after ending the game i have 200-250mb free for moment

Wow. That's awesome. Could you please upload a video of this running on the XPlay? Looking at the screenshots on Google Play, I would have thought this to be impossible. A video would help me silence all my friends who make fun of my device config.
This shows how much the XPlay has been improved by the contributions of so many XDA members (no thanks to Sony). 2 years running & still this device runs games like Bladeslinger etc.

As you know, it was cancled sometime, and then just changed for relase, but as far we know, it should hit 9 May 2013, but in my opinion, for iOS first, then maybe month for Android. Hopefully I'm wrong, but for now, last possible gameplay and source .
CLICK!
[UPDATE:]
Nearly impossible but yes, Blitz Brigade is optimized for Xperia Play with full support, hell yeah! (thanks for fast reply poo-tang )
Also, it seems Gameloft still didn't leave our awesome device, and coming Gangstar Vegas (which won't be freemium!) should also got touchpanel support .
Another great newsis, that game is out right now, when it should be (the same date as iOS, and the same date as Gameloft stated sometime ago. The main problem with the game is that's freemium, but we all know we can easily make it better with some hacks (but don't ask how/where cause XDA is not the place for some type of warez!). To get the game now, follow Google Play link here ->
DOWNLOAD
Oh, and no info for now about XP support.
Yeah, I saw that as well, however when I went to look for the facebook post in question I could not find it on either Gameloft's or Blitz Brigade's facebook pages or any other social media outlets.
The same buddy, but I think it's even too long after they annouce it months ago so I think they should be ready - at least for iOS, so we can expect Android version ~month later .
Great game hope it will be xperia play optimized !!
It's out now
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftINHM
Downloading to test now. Really hope this has controls or we can kiss good bye to Gameloft ever supporting the Xperia Play again I believe. If this don't have controls future games won't either.

Reply back if you download it and try . I'll download it this night, not faster . Thread will be updated once we checked XPlay support, no need to update now .
FULLY XPERIA PLAY OPTIMIZED and shows in launcher.
First thoughts -
1) heavy focused on IAP
2) Works great on Xperia Play not any noticeable lag on stock R800i tested on.
3) Good gameplay and like the fact it's a new take on FPS (Nice colorful without being another COD rip off)
4) Thank f##k Gameloft sorted the SD data compression, the game does not extract itself and stays at 1.29gb
5) Good touchpad controls (swipe to look)

Dreams came true . Thanks poo-tang for fast reply, without you I will update it once I download myself so this night, but you're The Hero! And came with awesome info! Gameloft really don't want to leave us, and Gangstar coming to not be freemium, so another fingers crossed about XPlay support . Cheers! Thread updated!
Seams this game has Online multiplayer voice chat. Wonder how that will work out or effect gameplay, not to mention the look you would get in public shouting at ya phone
Example - You F#(king C##ts #@-)!? Beep beep beep why you shooting at me fools
LoL
(Btw I know shadow gun dead zone has this feature but as never spent money on VIP rooms I have not tested it out)

I am on NXT LE with Lupus v8 1.2ghz / performance / cfq. And I have lag, in fact it lags for a sec then it borderline freezes on me and I have to pull the battery as the phone wont respond, anyone else having a similar issue?
poo-tang would you mind detailing what your running on your stock phone? Stock ROM, stock kernel, or if your modified kernel with stock rom etc. Thanks
Edit - I should mention the game is installed to internal memory and I have the sd speed boost at 4mbps, v6 supercharger. Thats it...

Total Stock Sony 0.42 R800i Rom, just with Root and Ram manager (Hard Gaming). It does run ok on this Rom 99% of the time but i think there is a little generic game bug, as i do have the every once in a while (every 60 secs or so) freeze for a second then it starts back. This also happens on another device which is not an XP that i tested it on to, so i guess wait for an update to fix that. still not as bad as MC4 version 1 was

On cm9 this game doesn't support touchpads, even with the fixes and touchpad activator. All my other games have working touchpads. Weird

So does this play smoothly on the play or is there lots of lag? Also does it show up in the games launcher?

Shows in launcher. I haven't really been able to play it. For me its almost freezes for seconds at a time.
