How to cure Un-Responsive Touchscreen issue on TF101 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was working fine for about a week or two and then all of a sudden lost all use of the touch screen. Wiped and double wiped and still no use.
Seen a tip to let the device completely die out and recharge and that did the trick all for about 2hrs. Now its back to square one with a device that is useless.
I was able to flash another ROM and that did not help either. Currently the tablet is on a stable Cyanogen ROM but it will go unresponsive after about 30 minutes.
Has anyone had any success with getting this thing to stay responsive and working.
Please Help, my Mom needs her Tablet back so she can give me back my Nexus 7 LOL

Never experienced it myself, but I would try to reseat the screen connector on the board. From what I read it fixed problems for some people.

Hmmm okay I'll see what I can do

[Q] Help! Back key on Nexus S freezes.

Hello guys I was wondering if anybody else is having this problem, sometimes when I press the back key on my att nexus s it freezes for a couple of secs then it goes back to normal, it won't matter what I am doing it could be anything from visiting the marketplace to browsing the web its really annoying me a lot at this point.
If you know anyway how to fix this issue please let me know thanks.
I have the same problem, but it also happens with my menu and search keys. The individual backlight will dim and the phone freezes for 4-7 sec.

Not having this issue.

Is the phone freezing or is just the back key randomly not responding to touch? If its the latter, then you need to do an exchange. Common problem.
I used to have this issue but it eventually went away. It happened after they replaced my screen.
I used to have this and assumed it was a hardware thing, changing roms sorted it.
I have no idea why this is the case and when someone else said as much I thought it couldn't be the case but I'd suggest you flash a different ROM and see how you get on.
I have this problem also. Mine will go dark and exit out of anything I'm doing as if I was pressing it. Gets old sometimes

Actually it affects all Nexus S models. I think it is touch panel driver bug.

[Q] Touch Screen Response Issue

Im running Glorious Overdose V2 but I had this issue with other roms as well for some reason my touchscreen sometimes doesnt respond. In order for it to start working again I have to lock and unlock my phone sometimes it happens frequently and other times it doesnt. Any tips on how to fix this issue?
Sorry no tips on how to fix, but I'm running stock and it happens to me too. I though it might have to do with my crappy screen protector or me somehow messing with the optical trackball, but it seems not since you're experiencing the same issue.

I have this issue, too...

This app worked awesome on my sensation. Give it a try and report back please? I set to performance.

Nope
I tried the app and it didn't help at all and sometimes my phone also starts randomly selecting as if I touched it.
Its a hardware problem. Samsung claims its a software problem but I doubt it. It happens to me all the time and I've posted threads about it as well.
What I have found is that any sweat or liquid on your fingers that gets left behind on the screen causes it to act sporadically. All you can do is constantly clean your screen when the phone is locked.

i have this problem, but i have noticed its only after iv gotten my hands wet. i kinda figured it was 1$ screen protector.
My screen would do the same thing until i bought one of the sk screen protectors. Haven't had that problem since.

Unresponsive bottom 1/8 inch of screen.

Hi guys I recently got my nexus s and started fooling around with it and I've noticed the very bottom of my screen doesnt respond to touch and while its a relatively minor problem it means I often miss type words. I am on rooted stock but have tried apex with matrix.

Restore your stock back up and see what happens. If it still happens, return your phone.
_______________
Just Flash It !!!
There is a touchscreen tester built into ICS Developer options. If there is no response at all after a quick test, try going back to gingerbread or something along those lines, with a full wipe in between. If there is still no response it's most likely a hardware issue. You'll have to either live with it or give samsung a ring (or possibly replace the entire screen and try your luck).
Same issue with gb and I've read about these problems before so I'm not the only one

any follow-up to this? what did it turn out to be?
this happened to me intermittently, recently. however, it seems to be a permanent thing now...
It can happen if you are not using original charger. Or touch dies. It could be kernel related too, but if you are on stock one and got this.. I would say it needs repair.

[Q] serious hardware issue

Hey guys,
My beloved nexus s 4g appears to be on It's last leg. After running cm9 stable for weeks without flashing any new roms or kernels it started freezing and locking up randomly. Eventually it started freezing midboot and doing nothing. Sometimes it hung on the splash screen and wouldn't boot. Sometimes it randomly rebooted into recovery out of no where.I tried wiping everything and starting clean, same issue. Most often, it will freeze after being asleep for a while and lock up when I press the power button
I tried running stock, same issues.
I tried relocking and unrooting, same issues.
I tried raising the voltages of clock speeds, same issue.
I have noticed if it's plugged in to a charger, it works perfectly. Any chance It's just a bad battery or something else?
Thanks for any advice guys and gals

Very strange...
RU insured? If so then swap it.
Have u tried to run a logcat to see if it shows anything after reboots?
I think batteries are like $10 bucks or so... or just go to phone store and tell them ur issue and use one if their batteries... but of course you'll need to be back to stock in case they check it
Good luck

It could be the battery not giving you appropriate voltage. I'd buy a replacement. At worst you're out of 10$, at best you Nexus S works.
Not insured. Upgraded to evo 3d, but I miss the nexus. I love the pure Google and form factor of the ns. Gonna try buying a new battery. Thanks gang

Got a new battery. Still has issues booting but seems to be a little more stable. Still not sure its usable as a daily phone :/
Thanks for the suggestions though

Repaired Nexus 5

Hi! Yesterday I took my Nexus 5 on a trip on top of my car and he decided to take a jump to see what will happen... Anyway, after really exciting jump and after I've found him, he was pretty much destroyed, but still working. So, I ordered new display with side bezels and repaired him today. At first everything seemed to be working, but now WiFi and Bluetooth won't turn on. I've took the back panel off to make sure everything is OK, and then I could turn Bluetooth on. After putting everything together again, it won't turn on. And I saw that for some short period of time, just after I assembled the phone, it had WiFi. :-/
So, now I'm confused.
Is it possible to have software issue, or could it still be hardware?
How can I, anyway, check if everything works with hardware?
Btw. I'm still on stock unrooted ROM. (Wanted to see how it is to have a stable ROM after couple of years )

If anyone is interested how I saw the WiFi was on or how it shows now...

i'm 99 percent sure it's hardware. software is flashed into chips so that cannot be the issue. it's hard to find out yourself wich part is broken. the best thing you can do is send it to your seller or a near phone shop.
Did the screen flicker what so ever? This happen to me because the screen was not original and I end up sending it back to the seller. Where did you get your screen from? You might have broke something when assemble.

wow! That's what I would call a well shattered screen.
I would suggest you to take it apart again if that's not too hard to do, blow the logic board in case some particles are rolling on it and reassemble it. It could do the trick eventually. Re-flashing stock Rom shouldn't be ignored. At least on a PC, a driver can get corrupted when a laptop falls.

Maybe some of the connections are not connected well.

I ordered my screen from vodafone repair service in Nürnberg, Germany and it came the day after. (It costs 140€, and if you want the repair too, then it's 199€. Not very happy about the price...) My replace screen is original from LG and works perfectly. I have to say- maybe even better than the old one. No flickering whatsoever. Backlight is also a bit better because it is equally divided over the screen. Plus, the bezels had new buttons on it, and now has smaller holes on the bottom and power button doesn't rattle any more. From the outside, only the back cover now has two small scratches. everything else is great.
I'm pretty much sure that something didn't connected correctly because sometimes bluetooth works. Tomorrow I'll disassemble it again and see.

Maybe its better to send it to lg for repairs? That's what I'm planning to do. I bought my replacement screen for 150 and it was just hell because so many issues. That's the same price for a repair by lg. Im going to sent it to lg soon but not yet because I been to lazy lol.

The service wanted to charge me almost 60€ more for their work, plus they said that they would most probably reflash the ROM and I would lose all my data...
And I only wanted to save my data. So, for me, this is the best solution.

Sounds like the antennas are not contacting properly. Seems it can happen to anyone upon removing the backplate.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've just disassembled it and reassembled again. Everything looks good. All connections are good and nothing seems to be loose.
I even tried to press the back panel around the camera lens to make a better contact with the antenna, but still nothing.
Looks like this in the WiFi settings...
So, actually, I think it's a software problem and am going to root it now and flash the new ROM.
After that we'll see.
If there isn't any success after that, you all know where to find spare parts for your Nexus 5.

I just finished reflashing the stock ROM and it seems like it wasn't a software issue... after selecting the language it says "Turning Wi-Fi on..." and it doesn't do anything...
More suggestions?
