I have a nexus 10 that is currently on cm 10.1 and i want to try another rom, and i was wondering if any body could tell me the differances between the current versions of AOKP and paranoid android? Like performance, customization, etc.

I can't really talk about paraniod android because I only tried it out briefly once but I have AOKP on my Nexus 10 release and have been thrilled with it. It includes most features from CM10.1 but also includes some awesome customization options. I also have fewer reboots since switching to AOKP.
Look for the AOKP PUB (project unicorn butter) builds. They are great!
I personally like AOKP. Best advice is to flash and try each ROM and find which you prefer for settings and customizations since everyone will always have a different answer of which ROM they like.
Paranoid is better than AOKP

Haha, and why is that?

Hey guys.
Currently, I am running CM10 on my verizon SIII and so far a love it! No complaints for me.
I am getting bored of it though, like anyone else would get who loves their phone, and am looking to change to something else!
Please let me know which ROM you are running, and the Pros and Cons of the ROM!
I am very interested to know, THANKS!!!
I'm currently running PACman. It has the best of CM10, AOKP, and ParanoidAndroid all mushed together. It's only the first build for our device so it has a few rough spots to iron out, but so far it hasn't proven to be any less stable than CM10. I personally can't stand TW so if you're looking for something a little bit different in the AOSP realm, give PACman a try.

I deal with tw because it has some sweet perks but i miss having an aosp or aokp but i haven't been able to get the 4.2 camera to be stable without it freezing and not functioning until it restarts.

Loving CleanROM 5. I haven't tried any others. Not going AOSP due to the fact I like & use the Premium Suite that comes attached to TW.
Running the pac rom as well. Miss the TW features, but I might hang on to this ROM for awhile.
Well I'm running kingkang build 1 best ROM out of all my opinion. I've tried basicly all of the ROMZ but stick with kingkang it works perfectly fine with me sept the cam but hey touch to focus n you be alright!!

Just moved to Synergy JB r125 last night from ICS r73. So far so good
I didn't really like TW while on ICS, so I used Apex Launcher, but am giving TW a shot on JB this time.
I just want a stable ROM, not interested in changing it daily or weekly or even monthly. I only upgrade when the positives outweigh the negatives.
Feels like at least one thing I use is broken in every ROM I've tried so far. Right now running Galaxy Mod, but can't get wifi tether app to work -- even though it's worked fine on just about every other ROM I've used.
Hate stock, but tempted to go back to it.
I'm on the latest Synergy but I tried Pacman rom also. The keyboard kept force closing on me no matter what I did.
Synergy is smooth as hell though.

Have you used treve's version in the apps and themes section?
I use tethering exclusively and have had no issues running the WiFi hotspot toggle that comes with galaxymod.
I don't know if its a different toggle than what the kindacrapmods install on the phone but it works well also.

I was on CM 10 and it was okay. I did miss having some of the touch wiz features like the motion settings and keeping the screen on while your looking at it. I just recently installed the [Rom] Jelly 'Beans' - Build 5 [11/27/12][Aroma][Fully Customizable][I535VRBLK1] with the Aroma installer and I have to say it is far superior to CM 10 it brought back the features i loved about touch wiz and let me choose not to install bloat ware. I was also able to OC in rom toolbox to 1900mhz which i couldnt do in stock CM 10.

Baked BlackBean. It's AOSP, smooth, stable, reliable, and black.
im running the PacMan rom
so far so bueno, nand'n back to SlimRom in a minute. the only reliable AOSP out there.
but my all time fave to date is Taste of Beans...all around best performance by far
Beans B5. I like TW features, stability, its plenty fast for me and its themed to look like AOSP.
Lol this thread is going to be locked up by a mod soon...
Baked Black Bean v6. It's fast, stable, had good features, and it's blacked out.

Why would it be locked up??
I used to have a Moto Droid 1 (OG Droid) and the messaging app it came with was able to have group messages, where everyones reply would be in the same thread. It annoys me that it is not the case on my S3.
Does anyone know any app i could get that is good with group convos???
or a ROM that would change that
I don't know what to flash! I love all the goodness of jellybean features, currently on Scott's CM10.1...
I can either:
Update to Scott's newest CM10.1
Give Scott's Beanstalk and all its alluring features a try
Give Slim Bean a go
Or try Liquid Smooth!!!
My problem is that I'm too spoiled lol! But I'm really looking for speed and stability so if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear em!
and I'd like to add: a sincere genuine inexpressible thank you! to all the developers who make this a reality! That my biggest problem right now is which 4.2 build is to flash shows how spoiled our brilliant community has made things!!!

I honestly haven't tried CM 10.1 or any others, but I have tried CM 10 once before in its early days. Right now Im running Paranoid Android 2.53, (based on CM 10) and I love it, overclocked and undervolted and it's really smooth. The only problem is (It may just be me or my phone), is if I have 10 apps backgrounded, it randomly reboots. Other than that, it's an amazing rom. Sorry for not having perfect experience in roms, but i'm just trying to help out.
Good Luck,

Thanks! What about something that's AOSP based? Not sure I like TW.
There are quite a few different ROM's out there, you'd just have to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1672
CleamROM is the only one I've used and probably will ever use. It's super stable and debloated that's all I really need. SynergyROM is a real popular one because it has Multiwindows but I don't really care about that right now & it seems to have some bugs. You just really need to check out all the ROM's and ask questions in those particular threads.

For AOSP ROMs, check here. I'd recommend AOKP, CM10.1, or ParanoidAndroid. But generally I prefer Touchwiz ROMs like Synergy or CleanROM because I encountered a ton of bugs on both AOKP and CM10.1.

Thanks! I guess I'm looking for a relatively bug free experience I'd avoid AOKO/CM. Just out of curiosity are they serious bugs or minor ones?
The only bad thing about AOSP ROMS I'd the fact that all the "cool" features of our phone can't be utilized. Things like the motion actions, WiFi direct, all share, just to name a few. There are more. That's the biggest reason I haven't flashed AOSP stuff. I bought the phone, for full price, to get these Touchwiz features. Just my opinion.

Can someone tell me the difference between the two? I've been running AOSP ROMs for some time and don't know what AOKP means. I know it's "Android Open Kang Project" but that's about it. I know that AOSP is different from the manufacturers' skinned versions (TW, Moto, Sense, etc...) but don't know where AOKP falls in the continuum between, say TW vs AOSP.
Thanks in advance for any feedback. I'm interested in playing with AOKP ROMs but want to know what I'm getting into & what to expect.
AOKP is AOSP based.
kang means to use others work and give them the credit they deserve ( i believe)
AOKP is a great rom and has some great features. I think a few different roms use AOKP as a base so there might be some tweaks to AOKP that arent in AOSP.
thats what ive gathered. I dont know how correct all of that is, but its what ive come to undersatnd
Like stated, AOKP is AOSP based. AOKP just has extra tweaks over cm10.1 for.instance. AOSP is Google's base, and any stock android based ROMs are AOSP based. AOKP is just one AOSP ROM.

Being a kanger is bad, it's like a thief. I guess it's kinda cool to call the rom kang.
But kangging used to have a very negative connotation. No one wants to be a kanger.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
due to the openness of the community here id ont think that its a "bad" thing.
everyone gives credit where its due.
I was just referring to the ones who do not, they get called out as kangers. Not referring to the aokp team or any others.
Used to happen on the droid x, same guy over and over.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
TLDR; AOKP has more settings/options to customize the ROM then most other AOSP ROMS, and -it is an AOSP ROM- and kanging is not at all a bad thing.
AOKP is one ROM, not a type of ROM. (it is an AOSP ROM) The name is a play on words of, you guessed it, AOSP. AOKP is based on Cyanogenmod (the most popular AOSP). I use AOKP, and the main difference is customization. AOKP is much more customizable than most of other AOSP roms, but they would appear mostly the same from a quick glance. And kanging is using someone else's code and either improving it or changing it in some way. Which is not at all negative, AOKP gives all credit where it's due (and doesn't hide it at all, they have banners on their website for other ROMS they've kanged) and often collaborate with other Rom makers. For example, Cyanogenmod collaborated with AOKP to implement something AOKP kanged into Cyanogenmod. But back to the point, the difference is more setting and options withing AOKP, whereas most AOSP roms tend to be simpler.

Hello all,
It looks like a Verizon Galaxy S3 is in my future. I am currently on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, running MMuzzy 4.2.2. I am really enjoying the stock experience. I have looked at a few through the forums here, but most I find are themed etc. Does anyone have any ROM recommendations that are as close to stock as possible? Any advice would be welcomed.

This belongs in Q&A. Anyways, I'd recommend bonestock, clean rom, or synergy. All are good choices.
EDIT: Sorry, you mentioned you were enjoying stock so those are stock-like recommendations.. My bad. Personally, my two AOSP favorites are Eclipse rom (very stable, blacked out, good on battery) and Carbon (smooth, feature rich, very customizable, very few if any bugs).

the thread is called AOSP recommendations . all of the roms you mentioned are touchwiz.
i currently run carbon rom. there are nightlies. it is for the most part, flawless. I guess it kind of depends on what features you use ..(halo,pie, etc) there are quite a few aosp roms to choose from, im sure thats why you are asking. in my experience, carbon and slim bean seem to have the best battery life, with the most features to offer. let us know what you decide and how it works for you . !
edit: after checking out the rom you are running, i kind of understand what you mean. Pure AOSP without a CM base. i searched for the same kind of thing when i first got this phone. unfortunately, it seems that all AOSP roms we have are built on cm. i would love to see a rom like mmuzzy for this phone. seems really cool.
Since you say you're looking at AOSP, I'd advise you try LiquidSmooth.
CleanROM and others are great TW stock ROMs, but not AOSP.
