I don't know what to flash! I love all the goodness of jellybean features, currently on Scott's CM10.1...
I can either:
Update to Scott's newest CM10.1
Give Scott's Beanstalk and all its alluring features a try
Give Slim Bean a go
Or try Liquid Smooth!!!
My problem is that I'm too spoiled lol! But I'm really looking for speed and stability so if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear em!
and I'd like to add: a sincere genuine inexpressible thank you! to all the developers who make this a reality! That my biggest problem right now is which 4.2 build is to flash shows how spoiled our brilliant community has made things!!!

I honestly haven't tried CM 10.1 or any others, but I have tried CM 10 once before in its early days. Right now Im running Paranoid Android 2.53, (based on CM 10) and I love it, overclocked and undervolted and it's really smooth. The only problem is (It may just be me or my phone), is if I have 10 apps backgrounded, it randomly reboots. Other than that, it's an amazing rom. Sorry for not having perfect experience in roms, but i'm just trying to help out.
Good Luck,

I have been running the HFS rom since v1, and for the most part it's been very nice. However, I was saddened to learn today that the dev will not be working on the g2x anymore. I know there are a few other ICS roms available, but I do not know a whole lot about them as I've mostly been in the HFS forum. If this dev does in fact leave, which ROM would you recommend for replacement (ICS only plz) and why? (highlights and lowlights to be aware of??)
Thanks!! (hopefully this information will help out a lot of people)
I could be wrong but didn't the HellFire ROMs come from the Phoenix Blood ROMs? If they did then they took queues from EaglesBlood. That would be the one I would recommend. I am currently on a Gingerbread MIUI ROM but anytime I want to used a CM based ROM I always go with EaglesBlood because it has always seemed really stable and gets good battery life. The dev also is quick to respond and does his best to fix any problems. Just as an FYI there are 2 versions of EaglesBlood ICS:
This one is based off of the AOSP source code Here
This one is based off of the CyanogenMod CM9 source Here
Hope this helps!
I doubt hell is going to end his rom. All the cm9 based ROMs are about the same. AOKP is pretty nice. I like the clean and bare bones AOSP thing that eagle's blood has going on. Really these are just toys for now tho.

i have been using eaglesblood build 3 however the camera doesnt work... wehre can i get Owain's CM9 KANG? any recommendations for a daily rom?
I'm a faithful user of Owain's ICS builds. I've had issues, but nothing I couldn't live with.

I don't know where you heard that hell is not working on the g2x. He's still putting out updates consistently and it has been getting a lot better, we're getting linaro next build!

i've used pretty much all the ICS roms on here and by far the best have been Genesis and HFS
I'm not sure if I like Domination or HFS better because I haven't used HFS since 1.7 and I've been on Domination for quite sometime now. I'll be on HFS once the next update comes out. HFS has always been a favorite of mine, but Owain's ROM tempted me over and I've been on it since.
Genesis is really cool, but I prefer the CM9 power widget over the AOKP one.
I actually haven't tried EB since build 1. Maybe if I get bored, I'll switch to it again sometime, but I'm pretty happy with Domination and HFS.
In my opinion you just have to use some roms and find which fits your feel the best. I've went through maybe 3-4 ICS roms before finally sticking with ASOP 4.0.4 EaglesBlood for the (in my opinion) battery life and performance.
My phone loves Domination by Owain94, all others seem to not agree with mine so just try all of them and see what she likes

I agree. I tried HFS and it was really laggy on my phone. Performance wise eagles blood was much better.

until there is a rom that EVERYTHING is fully functional, i'll pass on ICS for right now.
I have been reading these forums for the last few days. I have seen a lot of threads like this but they have not really answered my questions.
I need a stable ROM, where phone, internet, text, gps all work. I am looking for the best battery life. I am also not looking to flash a ton of updates.
I would like to get a jelly bean ROM if one fits my needs. If not then Ice cream. If you guys could recommend a jelly bean and Ice cream rom I would appreciate it.
Thanks again for the help!
PS Kenny if you reading this and you want to make a Jelly Bean Peoples ROM I would love to try it out!

For Jellybean No doubt Paranoid Android
For ICS (TouchWiz) Synergy
I guess everyone agrees with you

It's just tough to give a meaningful answer to this question because it really depends on how you use your phone and your personal tastes. Best thing to do is try out several ROMs and see what works best for you.

For ICS: Cleanrom....it removes all the bullcrap/bloatware and doesn't mess with it too much so things work and work well. Dirtytweaks if you want a little more customization
Synergy is good, however still has some bloat in it that I'm surprised has not been removed...still a very good rom thats geared moreso in my opinion for a heavier tweaker as opposed to just needing a steady not messed with too much rom
Beans is another good one and in my opinion the inbetween of clean and synergy
For JB: paranoid or just go with the default official cm10 nightlies though I can't speak much of personal experience with jb
The CM10 Nightlies(Jelly Bean) are/have become stable enough with yesterday's release. Minor GPS problems as in taking a minute to fix(it does fix, just takes longer than normal sometimes) and some FC's in random situations(Swiftkey install, when you go to change settings through it it FC's the settings. Gotta go in directly to the settings) are about it.
All the functionality bugs seem to have been squished out, no more 3s call delay/echo. So far no data drops reported except from dirty flashes. Text works fine even with a SMS(not MMS) quick reply popup if you want it.
It's pretty nice and stable. I recommend trying it out. (first boot is tricky, let it sit at the activation screen until you see all your radios connect then reboot it and you should be good to go)
Thanks guys I appreciate the advice
Sorry forgot one other question
How is the battery life with ICS vs Jelly Bean?
Thank you
Incubus's jellybean port is 100 percent perfect, literally no issues. And a 5889 quadrant score.

you should spend a week with a CM10 style ROM (i prefer paranoid android as already suggested), and a week with a touchwiz rom.
they are different experiences. you should try them both for sure.
Seems to be some good choices including both Touch Wiz, CM10 and Jellybean options.
What is everyone else running around here these days?
What ROMs worked well for you and which didn't?
Which ROMs are you seeing continued development on?

I'm running Liquid Smooth, its based off of CM10 (AOSP)
Liquid Smooth and Synergy have both worked flawlessly for me (i've got links in my signature to each of there respective threads)
Umm... I know liquid smooth has continued development, obviously CM10 and AOKP do as well. Incubus is hard at work with Jellywiz, and i know eschelon is always doing stuff with synergy. But i'm sure other developers are hard at work as well.
CleanRom all the way for me. It's been several weeks now, but I tried older versions of CM10 and Jellywiz and had problems with both. CleanRom has been fantastic though.
This liquid smooth is really nice.
Yeah I think clean Rom is an excellent tw Rom. I've used it a lot. Cna is a great cm10 Rom.
Eclipse...im suprised more folks are not running it!
Jellybomb is probably the most stable custom rom available for our device. Prior to this synergy was the King of customs. All jb rom's have issues.
Boom! Jellybomb biatch!
Eclipse was awesome! Great battery life and super stable.
I go between it and synergy r73. There's some touchwiz things I just can't shake.

not all aosp roms have issues.
Hotboot issues are still happening in synergy along with "ghost wifi" issues. Beans (from what I've read) has the same issues. Clean is what I consider to be stock, and not "custom", so I didn't count it. Eclipse has that network location issue in bold on the main op, big turn off for me. All tw jb's are based off of t-mobile which presents obvious issues for vzw users. Aosp network issues are hit or miss, seams to be user based, but ultimately seams as a whole to be not nearly perfect. Just basing my information on all the reports I've read. I've run slim bean, all synergy's, clean, kangs, cm10, and recently Jellybomb. Jellybomb has been a clear standout of all of them. Again, just my opinion, individual results will vary.

Do some more research bud...location services is fixed on eclipse. I recomend flashing each rom like i have instead of basing your opinion solely on what u read....not trying to bust your balls as i agree with most of your posts on here.
And so it is...sorry for wrong info. In general when someone makes a post like this, research has probably been to a minimum so I was trying to generalize. My typical response would be to research more and don't ask such a super general question that cannot be answered!
But good to know, that rom does look tempting.....

I suggest giving it a go...as you know im a touchwiz fan, but eclipse is a sweet rom!
I've ran beans 13 and 14 and I liked them both a lot. Right now I'm on slim beans aosp Rom and its definitely great.I haven't had any issues with anything and I was able to sell Google wallet which was my main thing I was worried about.
Tap'n
All this positive talk about Eclipse I'll have to check it out.
Will have to wait awhile though as my wife said no more flashing for a few weeks cuz we are due any day for our 2nd child and she wants my phone working for when i get "the call"
good thing Liquid smooth is running real nice for me.
if I ever go back to Touch Wiz it sounds like I'll have to try out Jellybomb.
I've been jumping back and forth between ParanoidAndroid and CarbonROM, and I'm actually about to give Cyanogenmod a try for the first time.
Carbon has a ton of great customization but I have gotten a few crazy screen flicker issues and reboots on the nightlies. Notta's version of PA is damn near perfect but I have an issue when streaming audio via bluetooth. I get a nasty static sound with high notes, if this could be fixed my decision would be made, and hopefully Ayysir will be fixing this in his builds.
Anyway, which ROM have you guys had the best luck with?

Your thread will likely be closed as someone already have this kind of thread. It is pretty active it is the "which ROM are you running" thread.
Depends
If you prefer Touchwiz - NOTHING beats CleanRom. The latest (seven), is the best, smoothest, most consistent rom I've ever run.
If you prefer AOSP - I'm gonna have to go with SlimRom. Really fantastic, smooth, and widely configurable.

I'm gonna have to respectively disagree. While clean ROM is a fantastic ROM, bonestock ROM is just as stable and offers sooo many options. Plus is extremely stable. I suggest the OP give both a look. Since the op is use to aosp, bonestock offers more customization like aosp but with TW. MOAR ROM is a great rom too.

There is a saying "to each his own" that applies to roms as not everyone has the same experience or taste in a rom. All the op is asking is what rom that you have the most luck with. He is not asking for suggestions.
As soon as one of these posts get taken down, another one pops up. Gee wiz.

There is no best rom just find something that meets your standards and run with it. This thread is going to be closed.
I'm too much of a newb to be able to post in the developer forums so I just popped on here to say: I just flashed AoCP 6 on my i896 and it's, by far, the best ROM I've used in a long time. Thank you so much for putting this together. It's like you thought of everything a past-end-of-life Captivate would need and included it and nothing else. My cappy's running butter smooth on 4.3 and even simple things (like my broken power button, etc) are addressed right in the ROM itself.
Well done and a big thanks to The Collective.
Also a quick shout out to Salty Bean 4.2.1 (my former ROM and also some excellent work).

I'll second this! I just had my IMEI repaired (thanks MobileTechVideos!!) and had them install the latest version of this ROM (6.4) and it makes my phone seem brand new! If I didn't have a Galaxy S3 that's running quite well now, this would certainly be a daily driver for me. For now, this will serve as my backup phone when I need it.
Great job to the devs on this and I highly recommend it if you are still running your Captivate as a daily driver!!!
