So Sunday night i fully charged my Xoom using the speaker dock, turned it off once it was full charged.
Just went to turn it on for the 1st time since Sunday night & all i get is a black screen.
My Xoom is on because i can see my LED light blinking & hear alerts coming through but screen will not come on at all.
It is rooted and running JB stock ROM. Worked perfect until now.
Any ideas anyone?
So I decided to hook my Xoom to my Tv with an HDMI cable and its definitely working. Everything shows on my Tv and I can use my Xoom with a connected mouse and keyboard.
Very Strange!

google SOD or screen of death. appears to be a pretty common problem. happens to me occasionally and you just have to reboot it.
if you hold it up to strong light you will actually see that the screen is on, just the backlight is not working. it sucks, but there's nothing you can do about it and there's probably nothing wrong with the xoom.

I just got a used TF and keyboard off craigs. It was working great with the dock i even took it off the dock and it was fine. I updated to 3.2 and then when my girlfriend came home i showed it to her as a surprise and it died when i took it off the plug. the battery says 100% so what is the problem? Same with dock i think the screen is off cuz when it turns on i hear a notification message.
EDIT i found the problem. its the brightness setting. if i set the brightness anything less than 3/4 OR auto than it works but anything thing else the screen shuts off but the unit is still on. WTF is going on.
Hi Everyone,
So, I have posted a few times on here about various problems I have had with my TF (as well as positive things). Here's a little rundown of my woes that may help anyone with knowledge about these things help me figure out what's up with my tablet.
1. When I first got my tablet it was perfect. I had no problems whatsoever - screen was great, no software issues, hardware build was awesome. I bought a dock for mine as soon as I could get my hands on one and it too worked wonderfully.
2. My dock had the problem with it waking the tablet on key press even after they released the mobile dock fix. So, I sent it in for service. Had to pay my own shipping for them to fix THEIR hardware flub, but thought that's okay because when it comes back it will be perfect.
3. Took three weeks to get my dock back. Plugged it in and it worked fine with my tablet - charged up like it should, went to sleep and stayed asleep even on key press. The very next day, I go to work and my tablet won't turn on. Long story short, my tab had a problem where it would not go past 50% brightness when running on battery. The entire backlight would just die. Worked just fine on charging.
4. RMA'd the tablet. Took two weeks for them to fix. They replaced the screen.
5. Now, I am getting the sleep of death when my tablet is connected to the dock (not plugged into adapter). If I leave the tablet for more than 5 minutes in sleep mode, it will completely shut itself down. This happens with and without the mobile dock battery option clicked. It happens whether running stock rom unrooted or running another rom rooted (I have had Revolver running, currently running ARHD).
6. I have been on the phone forever with customer service trying to solve this problem following their instructions to the letter including completely wiping my machine. I refuse to send it in at my expense for a third time only to have who knows what else problems come back to me.
After all that, does ANYONE have any idea what's going on with my machine?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice/shoulders to cry on!

Hi everyone, I just bought my Transformer today. When the salesperson plugged in the unit, everything worked fine. Then I brought the tablet home. I've been charging it for 3 hours plus, but I can't still turn it on. Nothing appears on the screen when I hold down the power button. Is there any way to check if the tablet is charging or the cable is faulty? Thanks so much
You may want to try plugging it into a computer and attempting to turn it on. I've had issues before when the screen didn't turn on and this has worked for me so far.

is there any chance the cable is faulty? is there any way to check if it is charging, as there is no light indicator?

It might be possible, but I'm not sure. You could try to see if you can put the Transformer in APX mode.
It happened to me once, and the problem was low charge.
I could test the cable though with the dock - and the light lit up, so after a few mins of charging I was able to turn it on.
Use the dock if you have one. It worked for me.

I've had mine about 6-8 weeks. Is unlocked and has TWRP and Zeus 3.0. Used it this morning with no issues and it was about 90% charged. Took it on the road with me and I wanted to make sure it was fully charged so I plugged it into a power inverter car charger with a USB slot. After about 1 hour, I unplugged it and turned it back on. It powered up and the first Asus screen popped up. At that point it appeared to go black and I waited a few minutes. Nothing happened. I then tried turning it back and it will not turn back on or power up into TWRP. After holding the power button, the tablet has a small vibrate after 10 seconds. Upon plugging it back into the car charger, I noticed that the light is not working. This happens on and off the dock. I won't be able to plug it into a real power outlet until I get back home, so I'm posting to get a jump start on what to do if it still doesn't work at home.
Any advice?

Well I got home, plugged it in and the charge light came on. It still wouldn't turn on though. At that point, I figured I'd try a paper clip in the factory reset pin hole even though I read that it doesn't or shouldn't work when you're not stock. Well doing that powered the tablet back up and everything is the way I left it this morning.
Very interesting. Hope this may help others....or maybe I'm just lucky.

So the reset button works also with custom rom. Shouldn't be a normal thing? I didn't know that with custom rom it doesn't work.

Sounds somewhat similar to my tablet, had it connect to HDMI with dock it was just finished running video the low battery status prompt popped up, folded the tablet and connected with charger without disconnecting HDMI.
A few hours later unfolded the tablet and found a blank screen, first thought it had shutdown by itself, then by pressing power button it gave a short vibration feedback. With the display still blank kept on pressing power button each time it responded with feedback by vibrating and thought it is bricked.
Was wondering wildly what has happened to it, so kept on pressing and holding power button it finally reboots and vibrated long to indicate it is booting.
So it was strange why such error has occurred, and it happens it could have registered as turned ON but display ON and in reality display is really OFF.
Hello,
I've been having an issue with my xoom for the past few days. I left it unplugged on my bed in the morning and when I tried to use it again at night before I slept, it wouldn't turn on. I assumed it was simply out of power, plugged it in and went to bed. The next day, when I tried to turn it on, it still did not turn on. I can see a faint hint of a green led when it's plugged in but I have to turn off all the lights in the room to be able to see it.
Out side of that, the tablet is not responding at all.
I am running cm-10-20121120-NIGHTLY or 21.
Can you guys suggest some troubleshooting steps?
Cheers,
Routaran
