[Q] How do you clear battery stats in the new ClockworkMod? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have version 6.0.2.3, and it seems that they removed the clearing battery stats from the advanced menu. Is there another way to clear the battery statistics? Thanks.

Merry Christmas bump, lol

True true lol Merry Merry...but where has the wipe Battery stats gone? ive got v6.0.2.3 and the option is gone...
---------- Post added at 09:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:59 PM ----------
Sorry...Another thing is that Mount USB storage also isnt working...anyone know a fix?
I found that the reason there is no wipe battery...is because it is no longer needed...but i cant find why it is no longer needed...I suppose the roms now do it by themselves??

Yeah it was in the changelog that it was gone, but why, I know I've read things where it may not do anything, but I just want to try it out. My battery drains really really quickly, and it used to last long. I just got it a couple months ago (Galaxy SIII) so I don't think it's a problem with the battery itself.

I take it there is no way to do it without CWM putting it back in then? lol

Battery stat is just a file somewhere in the system folder. If you Google, you should be able to find where that is. I'll use EF explorer with root access and move the file manually.
However, I failed to see any improvement in deleting the stat, other than it makes me feel better. Truly, no actual effects felt.

[Q] Phone Storage inaccessible after encryption

So I was in the process of encrypting my phone storage after setting a PIN. The 'Internal Storage' encrypted fine, but when I encrypted the 'Phone storage', it encrypted REALLY fast, much too fast for being almost 50% full, and it never required a restart, which I thought was odd. But I did a restart anyways, and now I can't access the phone storage at all. In the Storage menu in Settings it just says 'Unavailable' for both Total Space and Available. I can't even back up the phone to do a factory reset, because I can't access the "external" SD card from anywhere, please help!
Hey,
I have exactly the same problem. Did you ever fix it? I'd rather not have to do a factory reset!

Check this out as well, seems like it could be a bug from a recent OTA update.

Not looking good.
Just out of curiosity, as I saw this on the Galaxy Nexus forums a lot, why encrypt? Unless you're a businessman or similar, and not just need to encrypt pictures of your dog, why do it?
If you read more about it, you'd know the risks.

Why encrypt? Because it's really the only way to prevent someone from accessing your data if they come across your phone. Even if you set up a PIN, a person who's moderately knowledgeable about Android phones will be able to connect it to a computer and bypass the PIN in any number of ways. Plus, I know receive company e-mail on my phone and they're now pushing for all Android phones to be encrypted.

No, I never did fix it, I ended up grabbing the 1.85 RUU and wiping EVERYTHING off the phone (luckily, I had made a fairly recent backup before I encrypted). I see in the T-Mobile forums that one guy seems to have a way of encrypting the phone storage that might work...but I'm not sure I wanna risk it...

Yep, I have to encrypt as part of policies if I want to connect to work's exchange server. My work has used an app that monitors the compliance and if I don't get encryption working they can wipe my phone.
What a pain!

No idea if this works, just came across it and figured I'd point people to the discussion thread:

I looked into making the changes to the build.prop but ours is pretty different than the tmobile version. The instructions state that not all S6's will have the same lines to delete but they also mention that leaving duplicates will cause a bootloop. I don't feel like having to odin and wipe my phone if it doesn't work and at this point I cannot nandroid. I will wait for someone braver than I to post their results here :fingers-crossed:

I added the lines and deleted the duplicate lines (was about 3 or 4 lines)
Did seem to do the trick.
**These are the lines i used and**
#MultiTasking Tweaks
ro.config.dha_cached_max=15 - duplicate line
ro.config.dha_empty_max=42 - duplicate line
ro.config.dha_empty_init=42 -duplicate line
ro.config.dha_th_rate=2.3 -duplicate line (maybe cant remember)
ro.config.dha_lmk_scale=0.545
ro.config.sdha_apps_bg_max=70
ro.config.oomminfree_high=7628,9768,11909,14515,16655,20469
Yep. I did the same thing, and I'm not getting as many redrawn at all. Apps are definitely staying in the state I left them instead if restarting. Very happy.
Scrub that.
My phone was sitting in my pocket for 10 minutes, and when I went back to the apps, they all restarted. I hadn't noticed this much before now, but it's annoying me now.

Eh. I went for it. Just a heads up to others, there was only 1 duplicate value for me to delete, not the 3 or 4 that most people are reporting.
Not sure why the differences but my phone didn't get stuck in a boot loop :good:. I will try to remember to post back after using the phone for a bit to see if there is a noticeable difference.

Thanks for the reminder!
Overall, switching back and forth between apps does seem faster. I haven't noticed any slow-downs after extended periods of time (2+ days without restarts). The phone doesn't run any hotter, battery life seems the same. Apps still reset after a while though, relay for reddit is something I use quite often but if I don't use it for a few hours it reloads.
I was hoping this would solve a slow-down issue that I am having where I am running spotify, waze, and textra's pop-up response (as a passenger of course). It didn't, the phone still slows down in this situation.
Overall, I don't see any downside to the tweak, so go for it.
Just a thought. Has anyone thought about using an apps2sd type of app to free up memory space? I remember having to do this years ago on an older phone (probably an older nexus)
Admittedly we shouldn't have to be doing this, but needs must.

This literally has NOTHING to do with RAM. RAM does not equal storage space. What you are referring to is freeing up storage space -- again nothing to do with RAM. Secondly, there is no SD card space, so this does not even make sense to do on the GS6.
Now, I have a question for those who have edited the build.prop. Has anyone used Root Explorer to do so? Secondly, to avoid bootlooping, did anyone change permissions of the build.prop file? To quote someone from a different forum:

I changed my build.prop file using root explorer (long click and edit in text editor)
When I saved it, it gave it the right permissions as far as I could see. It also backs up the original file as well.

Also, I trusted Samsung to have given some thought to memory management themselves, and not have us figure it the f**k out. I thought I was done with this years ago.
My retired moto x on Kit Kat is far superior to this phone in many regards.
i'm just frustrated. This is an expensive-assed phone, and it looks like we are being treated as guinea pigs. Not a pleasant feeling.
Just did this and restarted, phone seems to be a little snappier though my RAM still shows pretty low. System is taking up 1.3gb down from 1.4gb and my free is hovering around 800 mb. still not ideal but not terrible.

Yes, prior to waking up this morning I was on AOL3. ATT website as of this morning still listed AOL3 as the latest. Seems to be working well so far, and walking in Manhattan today the "auto walking" feature of s-health started much smoother and quicker than previously. (for the first time the vibration notified me that it was automatically recoding "walking")

Can I downgrade from Marshmallow without rooting?

Hello...
Can I downgrade my G3 from Android 6 Marshmallow to Android 5 without having to root it?
I got the update but I really didn't like it. There are a lot of things missing.
Thank you
What specifically is missing?
As for your first question you can flash back to KitKat and then update to 5.. there is a thread for that.

To expand on the OP a little bit /Thread jack?/...
I'm having the strangest problem - The lower third of my screen acts like every swipe is just a touch. So when I try to scroll, it registers it as a click. I'm on Turbo ROM right now, but this problem has persisted across RR and AICP. Someone suggested that I go back to factory. Would it not be a good idea to just go back to LP?
I'm hesitant since I remember with my S3 going back to KK (I believe...) caused a brick since you couldn't return to the earlier bootloader. I may be remembering some of the details there wrong, but I'm still concerned about going back. Has anyone done this successfully?
Thanks in advance
Hi...I haven't done it yet, but I think I will...Marshmallow slowed my WiFi connection (have no idea why).
One very important thing is missing. The option to block a phone #.
The themes option and the live wallpapers are also missing.
I am also having battery issues, I have to charge earlier. The battery used to last longer with 5. Please notice that now I'm not even using a live wallpaper!
There are some positive things about 6 like the improved roll down menu/shortcuts. There is a flashlight and screen light regulation bar.
I'll try to downgrade to kit Kat and then to 5. I'll post what happens.
 @autosurgeon do you know where the thread for the downgrade to kk is? Could you post it for me please? I am new here and kind off having a hard time finding things! Thank b you so much!
Blocking a phone call is not missing. Wifi slow is usually the DNS server your provider uses I run an app called DNS pro it keeps me on Google DNS servers.
The themes are missing on the lg home launcher I don't use it so I don't care.. Nova is so far superior.
Battery discharge is caused by a an app misbehaving or because you didn't do a factory reset after the upgrade.

Hit call settings
Hit call reject

Remember all your apps have to be setup as on push settings and when they can wake up the phone as after the upgrade many will update to the 6.0 version and some of those settings will change to default. Facebook did this as did Google now and both are battery hogs when in default. They wake the phone up 20 plus times per hour to phone home.
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Awesome! I found the call reject! Thank you!
It's just a pain...you know...I'm getting old....I'm 38, female and I try my best to keep myself updated with technology, but I must say that I don't have patience anymore to get used to the new looks and features!
Please be patient with me...I have some more questions. Lol
So...if I do a hard reset now, what will I lose on the phone? Any apps? Contacts? Messages? Configurations? I am always afraid of hard resets. I had bad experiences with Samsung.
Running the apps on push settings....how do I do that?
And what is exactly NOVA? Why is it better? What can I do with it? Is it free?
I'll try the dns pro!
Thank you!
Nova is a launcher app. And yes it has a free non pro version you can try. Try it it's better if you like the features I do. It has a ton of features (;

I [just] downgraded my wife's last night from MM (6.0) to Kit Kat 4.4.2...Marshamallow KILLED my wife's D850. Burning battery, dropped calls, re-boots even after factory reset. I did what was in post #3 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624353&postcount=3 )
After downloading KK and .Dll it took a total of 10 minutes and was one of the easiest flashes I did. After flashing back to KK, I took the OTA to Lollipop. She called me today and we talked for 15 minutes with no dropped calls and NO over heating. my question is stay on 5.01 or go to 5.1.1? I will probably go to 5.1.1 now i know how easy i can do this again if it doesn't work out.

I can imagine this is quite annoying. I'd say factor reset... But that would undo everything mind you what's worse lol:/. And not being rooted might be annoying lol. Tbh I can't find any information out about this app. It's called Truth Snooper?
I shall do some searching and thinking.

Hello . So I've done some. Digging and honestly can't find anything about this. Assuming this app doesn't have a hook. As it's not a rooted phone I don't imagine it's possible it will have hooked itself into system files. Unless the guy managed to root, install then. Hide everything? Lol. I'm just guessing.
Give root checker a whirl? Worth a try.
Apparently this app works: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antispycell.free&hl=en
But in all honesty if that doesn't work factory reset and full wipe of internal storage is your only choice :/ as your not rooted you can't go into folders and start removing stuff. I'm really sorry this has happened and it is horrible. But in future I'd suggest your friend doesn't leave his/her phone lying around.
I'm sorry . For every good intentioned app (assuming you think spying on your kisds doesn't sound like a gross invasion of their privacy) there is 4 bad intentions it can be used for :/.

That should probably do the job but be aware that it may not if the malware has rooted the phone or compromised it via some other exploit. So you should check with several root checking apps. If rooted then you need to reflash ROM as factory reset does not touch many of the partitions. Also the external SD card is not touched (normally) by either method so that may be a potential route to be reinfected, so too open ports on your wifi. The phone may not even have to be "fully rooted" to be infected if some security vulnerability has been exploited to escalate privileges.
Also you should submit the suspect file to virustotal and scan phone with some decent anti malware app before and after cleaning. If it was me I'd also install an app like AFwall to check and see if there were any attempts being made to connect to suspect servers.
Factory resetting may remove the app.
