[How-TO] activate sweep2wake on htc sensation - HTC Sensation

I AM TAKING NO OWNERSHIP FOR ANY OF THE CURRENT CONTENT OF THIS THREAD, NOR AM I CLAIMING IT TO BE OF MY CREATION
hello this is my first Thread on Xda. and today im going to show you guys how to activate sweep2wake function on htc sensation.
i've tried this with some kernels only such as (SebastianFM kernel , and buce's and stock android kernel) you can try this method with any kernel you want.
Let's Get to it
1. of course you must have rooted htc sensation with recovery: 4ext for example.
2. you must have file manager , i use Es file Explorer.
3. open the Es File Explorer just like the picture:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and now press on the " Favorites " and choose " / " which have mobile phone icon.
and now choose " System ".
now press on " etc " folder..
and press on " init.d " folder..
now search in these files for the kernel text.
and in my case the kernel text is: 01member.bak ... now press on it and open it as " Text " .
do you see the " SWEEP2WAKE " text ?
that's what you are going to edit.
now change the: SWEEp2WAKE=0 from 0 (which means it's OFF) to 1 (it means ON) or to 2 (on with no lights).
it's your choice !
now you just press on power button and Reboot into the recovery and fix permissions (restart the device into the recovery) the device.

Hey thanks for this! But, I found my SWEEP2WAKE=0 thingy in a file called 89bruce and I tried changing the zero to 1 it said that the operation failed! I tried several editors and none of em' worked :\ Can you help me?

No kernel file
I don't have a kernel file in that folder, despite having the Komodo kernel with CM10, on my HTC Sensation XE.

[HOWTO] Manually Flash Koush's ClockworkMod Recovery (If You Are Already Rooted)

1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written (i.e. recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-heroc.img).
3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card (not in any folders).
4. Download Terminal from the Market if you don't already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen keyboard and some don't experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you don't see it).
5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line).
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).
7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.

[Req] new Android 2.3 Keyboard [solved]

hey guys,
Can anyone port this new Android 2.3 keyboard to the X10?
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/12/06/download-gingerbread-keyboard-for-rooted-devices/
Can't be done as what I read due to it using the newest voice search only for 2.2 and up phonesfucks since I'd like tho use out.
Sent from my X10a v2.1 using swype
I just finished testing the keyboard while on Android 2.3 and it's AMAZING compared to the other ones. It's very responsive and accurate.
There's what I hear even takes swype for a run for the money.
Sent from my X10a v2.1 using swype
Hmm I tried to see if I can recreate it by modding another keyboard... but I failed... didn't come anywhere close to it LOL

well, here is the .apk file for it. lets see if someone can get it working.
(this is pulled straight from the 2.3 ROM that Zdzihu posted earlier)
EDIT: added screen of all 2.3 files pulled from ROM. let me know if you need any.

What is the keyboard you modded? did you edit code or did you just tweak the settings?
anyone?
no x10 dev want to take this up?
It's so cool !!! pls x10 dev do it for us
You should request it in this thread:
Android Software and Hacking General
Ask someone to mod it for 2.1 and for phones like Nexus 1, X10, Htc Desire, etc. (I forgot what the name of those keyboards were)
So i finally posted this request in the android dev section and this is what i got.
you need to have recovery installed on the x10. see link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
once recovery is installed, install the zip that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865501
i have tried this and it works, so far so good,
just one thing, if you have changed the LCD density on the phone, the keyboard size may shrink for you (it has for me, but i like it as it takes less space on the screen)
hope this helps

Hi,
So these are the steps i followed
Goto :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
download the file (recovery) from there, it's an APK file, install it and open the application to install recovery on the x10.
****YOU NEED TO HAVE ROOT to install recovery****
once recovery is installed, install the zip that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865501
there are two options here, one is a keyboard that has fat / big buttons and the second one that is a slimmed down version.
make your choice and pick / download one
place the file in the rood directory of the SD Card
reboot the phone and when you see the SE logo press "Back" a few times which will open the recovery menu.
*use the volume up down to scroll back to go back and menu to select*
choose the option to go to the "Install Custom Zip", choose to install a zip from SD Card, scroll to the file (that you downloaded and placed in the SD Card) and then select "Yes install"
then back back and reboot.
That should work.
it worked for me

nope, not required.
I could not enter recovery anymore, so i did some research:
if you installed 2.1 custom AOSP b006 and rooted with z4root, you have the wrong version of busybox installed and will not be able no access recovery.
Solution: Open the "xRecovery-0.1-release.apk" with a zip manager and extract busybox from /res/raw. Copy to SD card and use root explorer to copy the busybox file into /system/bin (overwrite the original one, make sure you mount R/W) and set permissions to rwxr-xr-x.
Now you should be able to access recovery mode by pressing back button at boot. Just follow the instructions a few posts above from here on
Cheers

Adobe Flash Player 11.1 for lg optimus net p698f / *TESTED AND WORKING*
some small steps to "avoid this problem" and make it work..
I Used these STEPS to make it WORKS on my LG P698f (LG Optimus Net Dual) wow my phone rocks as hell...
1) you need to be ROOT
2) - install flash player and don't run it;
(attention) DON'T MOVE Flash Player to "SD CARD" (very important)
3) - use ES File Manager (is one of the best..)
(and in settings enable "root mode" and "mount system as ROOT")
and you can copy "lib folder" (unpack the files first , ok?)
to /data/data/com_adobe_flashplayer/lib/
4) on each file (in lib folder) set permission correctly as described in the picture (on the main topic)
5) and bingo, IT's working... for me... and maybe to you too...

Please discover why the files inside lib will lost when cold reboot ? I have to copy files for each reboot.
These permissions are not working.
We need only libflashplayer.so. Other so files are useless

Working perfectly.... now watching cricket live ..... thanks again....

Awesome! Works on my LG P690.
Thanks op.
Just a quick note. You must install the app to its default location (internal memory). If you have an override settings to install to sd card, it will not work properly - lib folder permissions incorrect and could not be changed on mine.
U need 3g or wifi to watch online videos stuff.....
Press thanks if I helped you

copy failed
Hello. This is my first post here.
So, I have a big problem: I cannot copy /lib folder in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer. I see the folder, but I cannot copy... This folder has 555 permissions (r-x r-x r-x). I tried to change with ES File Explorer in 777 but the operation failed; I tried to change permissions in 777 in Terminal Emulator (su chmod 777 /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib) - operation failed.
I tried in Terminal emulator too: mv /sdcard/Download/lib /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer - operation failed.
I need your advice to run Adobe Flash Player on my LG Optimus Net P690.
Thank you.
Edit: I don't know why or how, but problem is solved after uninstall and reinstall flash player for a few times.

The one posted in the link above is for tablets, and hence, you might not get what you wanted. Be careful before messing things up.
P.S: Here is one I made a few days before my computer broke.

Just in case you didn't know what you were doing, you could end up deleting something useful.
You can mount it as r/w using the button on top.
P.S.:
If you are using Solid Explorer, copy the apk file, and then, paste it in /system/app.
A superuser notification will pop up. Accept it... The file is copied.:victory:
Then, set the permissions to -rw-r--r-- . This can be done by long pressing the file, and going to properties.
In properties, go to attributes, and click on change.
Set the attributes as follows, to get the -rw-r--r-- config.
----------------------------R-------------W-------------X
Owner-----------------(tick)--------(tick)
Group-----------------(tick)
Others----------------(tick)
Click Ok, and reboot your phone. The first time, you would get an "Android is upgrading" notification. Afterwards, no notifications will pop-up, and you can enjoy your new modded SystemUI.apk.

Unfortunately I can't paste anything in system/app. Cz its memory is very very less. Unable do it. If delete anything also its memory is same.

Try a superwipe.zip... and a reflashing. Replace SystemUI.apk in the ROM's zip with the systemUI.apk you want to install and then flash. that way, you have no hassles. Update superuser binary if you have problems in writing in the system partition.

U need to keep on trying to update.

Download a root checker app and see if it says the phone is rooted.
I was never able to root phone while on stock recovery.
Another option is to flash another recovery using sp flash tools, then any rooting app will easily root.
Method tried and tested by me.
sir is this working on lenovo a328?
Hi, can you please suggest a recovery or may be provided a URL to download that?
I have 8x-1200, stuck at step#6 and cannot flat that zip since no custom recovery :/
It says go to step#10 but there is no any step after 8th what to do! Hence, seeking help..
