hey guys,
Can anyone port this new Android 2.3 keyboard to the X10?
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/12/06/download-gingerbread-keyboard-for-rooted-devices/
Can't be done as what I read due to it using the newest voice search only for 2.2 and up phonesfucks since I'd like tho use out.
Sent from my X10a v2.1 using swype
I just finished testing the keyboard while on Android 2.3 and it's AMAZING compared to the other ones. It's very responsive and accurate.
There's what I hear even takes swype for a run for the money.
Sent from my X10a v2.1 using swype
Hmm I tried to see if I can recreate it by modding another keyboard... but I failed... didn't come anywhere close to it LOL

Swype sucks now.. it's not accurate anymore
well, here is the .apk file for it. lets see if someone can get it working.
(this is pulled straight from the 2.3 ROM that Zdzihu posted earlier)
EDIT: added screen of all 2.3 files pulled from ROM. let me know if you need any.

What is the keyboard you modded? did you edit code or did you just tweak the settings?
anyone?
no x10 dev want to take this up?
It's so cool !!! pls x10 dev do it for us
You should request it in this thread:
Android Software and Hacking General
Ask someone to mod it for 2.1 and for phones like Nexus 1, X10, Htc Desire, etc. (I forgot what the name of those keyboards were)
So i finally posted this request in the android dev section and this is what i got.
you need to have recovery installed on the x10. see link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
once recovery is installed, install the zip that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865501
i have tried this and it works, so far so good,
just one thing, if you have changed the LCD density on the phone, the keyboard size may shrink for you (it has for me, but i like it as it takes less space on the screen)
hope this helps

Hi,
So these are the steps i followed
Goto :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
download the file (recovery) from there, it's an APK file, install it and open the application to install recovery on the x10.
****YOU NEED TO HAVE ROOT to install recovery****
once recovery is installed, install the zip that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865501
there are two options here, one is a keyboard that has fat / big buttons and the second one that is a slimmed down version.
make your choice and pick / download one
place the file in the rood directory of the SD Card
reboot the phone and when you see the SE logo press "Back" a few times which will open the recovery menu.
*use the volume up down to scroll back to go back and menu to select*
choose the option to go to the "Install Custom Zip", choose to install a zip from SD Card, scroll to the file (that you downloaded and placed in the SD Card) and then select "Yes install"
then back back and reboot.
That should work.
it worked for me

nope, not required.
I could not enter recovery anymore, so i did some research:
if you installed 2.1 custom AOSP b006 and rooted with z4root, you have the wrong version of busybox installed and will not be able no access recovery.
Solution: Open the "xRecovery-0.1-release.apk" with a zip manager and extract busybox from /res/raw. Copy to SD card and use root explorer to copy the busybox file into /system/bin (overwrite the original one, make sure you mount R/W) and set permissions to rwxr-xr-x.
Now you should be able to access recovery mode by pressing back button at boot. Just follow the instructions a few posts above from here on
Cheers

No, you have the option "install custom zip" in recovery mode, where you can browse for a .zip on your SD card.
is this just in english?

Not-so-Super Froyo was my best rom build but too much crashes and app forecloses inched me closer to bringing back Windows Mobile. After a while of experimentations I think I found my best combo ever ---- l1q1d's 2.6.25 kernel and casacristo Valentine ROM. Thanks!!!
My screenshots. Not the default appearance though.

Here's my setup for NAND Installation: (Download all 4 files)
a. casacristo's VALENTINE ROM build (extract androidinstall.tar from the downloaded file using winrar or any rar decompression program)
http://www.ziddu.com/download/13802744/androidinstall.rar.html
b. l1q1d's 2.6.25 kernel POLAIMG.NBH
c. install-seq.sh
d. You might need to flash the kernel with this file CustomRUU.exe
(See Attached file for download links below)
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
The NAND installation doesn't work in automated mode. You have to enter the
Android BOOT Menu mode and install from there. Resetting the phone also will not work. You have to enter the Boot Menu and press Exit. OR you can rename the file install-seq.sh to anything so reboot works automatically.
Try these STEPS for installing Android on your Polaris NAND:
IF YOU ARE NEW TO MODDING ANDROID ON YOUR POLARIS I SUGGEST TRYING l1q1d's TUTORIALS FIRST. I suggest you have newer bootloader and radio. Im not responsible for what you do with your phone anyway.
1. Create a folder named Andboot on your SD card and copy the 2 files androidinstall.tar and install-seq.sh inside the folder.
2. Insert your SDCard on your Polaris.
3. Go to Bootloader Mode by pressing RESET once while pressing down the Camera button.
4. Once the 3-color Bootscreen comes out, connect your Polaris to your Computer thru the USB cable and check that the screen says "USB" and not "SERIAL" anymore.
5. Put CustomRUU.exe and POLAIMG.NBH together inside any folder and RUN CustomRUU.exe. Follow the instructions on screen. When the format is over your phone will reset and Android installation begins.
6. HOLD PRESS the Volume UP button until the installation texts roll on the screen and you come into the Android Boot Menu. IF YOU DONT, then RESET the phone and do it again.
7. Choose the menu "Install System" and let Android install for a while.
8. Installation finished. Choose Exit and let Android roll. Congratulations.
WHAT'S WORKING?
I tried the following...
Camera, WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth, Removable Disk Mode in USB works when connecting USB while logging in to Windows, ... Battery is more accurate.
WHAT's NOT WORKING?
VideoCamera... dont ever try it freezes; Install to SD...nope!
WHAT's NEW?
New Market, New Battery Image, No frequent forecloses, lesser resets
WHAT's IN?
Comes installed with GOLauncherEX (I preferred LauncherPro), SwiFTP, APNdroid, and more.
I recommend the following apps (tried and tested):
*Contapps for Contacts (syncs with FB, Twitter to name a few)
*ChompSMS for Messaging
*LauncherPro for Launcher
*Friendcaster for Facebook
*QuickPic for Gallery
*FileExpert for File Navigation
*GPS Essentials
*KS Uninstaller
*Easy Installer
*ClockQ
*Tubemate
I trying it now. I have had problem with installing apps in app store but after phone restart is all ok. I love the speed of this system
Thanks for trying. Thanks by the way to l1q1d for his kernel and Atools and tech. I chose to use his 2.6.25 kernel since that has working camera. You might wanna try with the latest 2.6.32 kernel maybe more results would be favorable. If you can find a better setup pls share also, for now I'd be sticking with this combo. The battery status by the way is accurate and reliable. I got 5% juice and the phone is still working though reminding me to connect to charger. Previously on the Froyo combination the phone is dead at 25%.
Question
Hey guys. First of all thank you for posting this thread, and second, can you please tell me if i can use this build with haret, not nand. I tried to install it but i didnt succed. Can you please help me?
I can't install it too? Everytime i see can't extract the files, after it reboot and hold the vol up bottom?
Hmm sorry my mistake, i forgot to unpack "androidinstall.tar"
I'm gonna comment after use
Seems to work proberly? You say install on nand, but why does it still use the sdcard when reboot?
I have a problem.
After I installed it,I turn off my phone and turn on it again.
I failed to boot the android,it says "Failed to format".
Plz help me!
oh sorry. i know what's wrong now.
Hello again guys. I have managed to install it in haret. I must say its fast but still not so "super" . It doesnt load the market (gives me a server side error), launcher freezes. I will test it some more and get back asap.
LE: Seems to be working. I dont know how, but it is. I am downloading apps as i type. And btw, the battery indicator is much accurate then before. Thank you again.

When you boot it,you should hold pressing the volume up button. You'll find that you are in Boot Menu. Press "Quit". Then it'll be fine.
I'm having a load of trouble doing this, probably cause im a noob :[
i followed the instructions but ended up with a white flashing screen and couldn't do anything. I've just installed the original software windows mobile 6.1 and I'll try again. Hope i can get it to work this time!
does androidinstall.tar need to be unpacked, or do i just unpack that file from the rar?
i did the same thing ... i didnt unpacked the archive and it didnt worked. so you should unpack and try again.
same thing has happend again with just the .tar file on there, my phone completes the installation and when it goes to boot up it vibrates twice and flashes on the white screen, any help would be appreciated
The issue lies on the kernel (POLAIMG.NBH). Your Polaris could have a different panel coz there are actually other types. Please read l1q1d's original tutorial on how to use Atools to obtain a kernel suited for that phone. Just try one of the panel type from that tutorial and if it dont work try the other. You can always use the androidinstall.tar file from this post with that kernel.

First off, I tried to add the 3e recovery by replacing the Recovery file in /system/bin.
I couldn't find a recovery file in there..which I found to be pretty odd.. but I placed the 3e recovery file in there anyway.
I rebooted into recovery and it brought me to the blue recovery menu and it doesn't have the "Install updates" option.
Help!

Did you remember to change the permissions for the recovery file?
What was done to your phone prior to your attempt to install 3e? And try selecting "reinstall packages" (first option in blue CWM) to boot into green CWM...what are you trying to do exactly? B/c I don't recall an install updates option in CWM.
oops - I meant to say it didn't have the "reinstall packages" option in the menu. Hm.. I think I should use Root Explorer. Currently I'm using Super Manager but it has no option to change permissions, that I could find.

Than that must be your problem, the permissions have to be set, Root Explorer is WELL worth the money. Once you get it the permissions should all be good just uncheck the group/write box, then try booting into recovery and reinstalling packs
Hm.. so I bought Root Explorer, changed the permissions but it's still doing the same thing. Am I doing something wrong?
Btw I found a recovery file, but it's not in /bin. It has a different date on it, and it says rwxr-xr-x on it.

I think those permissions are what the original recovery is set to (and what the 3e recovery needs to be set to) what size is the file? If that is the original, rename it to something like recovery.orig
It is 404.77K in size. Should I move this to bin?
DLXII said:

No, I'm pretty sure that's the original cuz the 3e recovery file I extracted from the zip when I did 3e is 306.64k and right outta the zip the 3e recovery permissions should be --xrwxr-x which you need to change to match the original.
So here's what I would do, rename the file in question to recovery.orig.
Next I would start over, find the 3e recovery zip and extract it.
Go to extracted and find the recovery file(306.64k, --xrwxr-x) from that zip and copy it.
Scroll up to the parent folder (..) press till it goes away basically.
Find System/Bin and scroll down to a recovery file if any is in there. (you can either delete it or rename)
Make sure you hit the mount button at the top.
Hit paste, and change the permissions of that recovery file to the correct format and see if that works for you.

I followed everything you did, but I still bumped into this. Maybe the 3e recovery file I downloaded could be corrupted?
Ok, it's not applying the 3e it looks like, one more thing, you said the original recovery was not in system/bin(didn't catch that on your last post),you should probably put the recovery.orig file in the system/bin location with the new 3e recovery file, not sure if it will help. It's just weird that reinstall packages is not showing up.
I went ahead and did that, but for some reason the original recovery (renamed recovery.orig) isn't renamed, like as if it never saved any changes that I did.
Anyways, I renamed it and added it to system/bin along with the 3e recovery file and set the permissions correctly. Both have the same permissions, actually.
I booted into clockwork and it's still the same screen.
Ya they should have the same permissions, well damn, I've troubleshot every way I knew how...
Here is a LINK for an ODIN back to stock that will put you back to stock but give you root and modded 3e, since apparently your phone is being uber difficult. Just follow the instructions including the samsung kies drivers (download Kies here)
This is what I use whenever I have problems and it works for me every time
Thank you a lot for your patience and your help! I really appreciate it. I'll try the link out. Hopefully it'll work on a rogers phone..

No problem, I've been in your shoes, trust me, and I wasn't aware you were on a rogers infuse, so you rooted using THIS method? I'm not sure if 3e is the same for ATT and Rogers, but I know rooting is different along with many other things. The link I gave you might not work on rogers infuses, I wouldn't want you to brick your phone.
Yea i used that method. Hm.. I guess I'll just lay low with rooting until I find a solution. Thanks!
Well it's late here, but maybe tomorrow someone with more Rogers Infuse expertise will chime in, sorry, I know the ATT infuse pretty well just not Rogers
If I run across anything useful, I'll post it here
THIS link should solve your issues, specifically for Rogers.
Dear Gentlemen,

And i rebooted the phone on normal mode, accessed the SD card, changed the ROM's file name into update.zip (since i can not see that "install zip from sd" )
Rebooted the phone in recovery mode, and installed that update.zip, and it worked installed and it said welcome to "RazoDroiD 4.0", and stuck on reboot main screen (samsung).

im thinking is there any possibility to Install the ROM from computer?!
You do partition the SD Card and install it again. Before that all you want to save from the SD Card, you copy somewhere on your computer, USB or DVD. I think on music, pictures, videos, etc.
Did you use this Clockworkmod Recovery?

Have a look at this:
Where do I start for this.?
1. You obviously haven't followed the guide to the letter...
2. You flashed a rom using stock recovery
3. You are currently using Tass.ops which is for galaxy mini and not for fit...for fit, you need beni.ops which is a different file and not a simple rename...
What do you need to do:
1. Take a deep breath and relax...try and calm down...
2. READ THE FULL GUIDE ATLEAST ONCE
3. If you have doubts, ASK here BEFORE proceeding...
4. Clear everything up, double-check and cross-check each and everything...
5. Proceed...

_tu_root is no longer available from the provided link. Does anyone have a mirror?
2 months later and tu_root is still down, and just moments ago the "complete kit" disappeared.
---------- Post added at 05:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 PM ----------
Working link to tu_root: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/84283344/tu_root_.zip
Most of the links are now broken since the Dropbox reset too.
I've been trying to find the root files for this phone everywhere and all the links are just broken. I just wanna root it to remove the boost bloatware and boot animation so I can use it as an emulator for old games but no luck finding any of the files.
Hey NGD1
I was curious If you still have the Transform Ultra Tu_root.zip file
if not its totally cool I was just curious if it is still out there somewhere in the world
I spent like 4 hours searching for it to no avail
[Guide] ["Port"] How to flash Android 6.0.1 on the Galaxy Note 5 from T-Mobile!
The tarball has been uploaded!
To start off, I must say that you can revert from 6.0.1 using this method that I am using. I will break this down into steps and I will try to make it as simple as possible. It took my awhile to figure this out using trial and error so if you like this, click the thanks button.
The KNOX counter is tripped when doing this. I am not responsible for any modifications you do to your device.
What isn't working:
I regret to inform you that after doing another test in-call audio is not working. HOWEVER YOU MUST STILL DO STEPS 11 AND 11a so you can use Cellular Data. In other words; the call fix I provided does not fix call audio but it does fix messaging and data. I recommend possibly using google hangouts to call for now. (not for long, working on a fix right now)
The ability to root via supersu zip (not for long).
Step 1: Download my .zip (this contains my .tar file), from: here and download CF-Auto-root for the T-Mobile Note5.
Step 2: Download the cellular fix for the T-Mobile Note5 from here: Download the "callfix" folder (in a zip).
Step 3: Download Odin (should be anywhere on the internet, google it). Now make a folder on your desktop with the call fix folder zip called "Callfix.zip", my zip that contains my tar file (marshmallow) that you downloaded, and CF-Auto-root (the zip).
Step 4: Make sure everything in the folder looks right, it should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 5: Extract the "Note5601tar.zip" and the "Callfix.zip" to the same folder (right click and click extract here). Now, open the CF-Auto-root.zip and ONLY extract the file called "CF-Auto-Root-nobleltetmo-nobleltetmo-smn920t.tar.md5" to that same folder you have created on your desktop.
Step 6: Rename "CF-Auto-Root-nobleltetmo-nobleltetmo-smn920t.tar.md5" to "CF-Auto-Root-nobleltetmo-nobleltetmo-smn920t.tar" (just remove the .md5). Then, delete any file that you have extracted from (files that end in .zips in that folder). Now make sure your folder looks like this:
Step 7: Drag the Callfix folder that has been extracted to the root directory of your phone (on whatever rom you're on right now).
You are now ready to begin!
Step 8: Boot the phone into download mode (turn the phone off, then hold volume down + home + power at the same time). If you come to a warning screen, press volume up to continue.
Step 9: In Odin (3.10.7) make sure Odin can recognize your device, you should see black text with a blue backing and the word "COM" then a number. Once you verified that your device is recognized, click "AP" and select my .tar file from the folder we made earlier called "Note5TMO601.tar" (the .tar file that was extracted from the .zip). Now click open to select it.
Step 9a: Verify that Odin looks somewhat like this:
Step 10: Click "start" and wait, make sure re-partition is not checked under options!! Don't mess with anything else under options. DO NOT ASSUME YOU'RE ALL SET RIGHT AFTER THIS STEP, THERE IS MORE TO DO!
Step 11 (important): Your phone should reboot into TWRP now, swipe to allow modifications if asked. Go to "advanced > File Manager > sdcard > Callfix > bin" now click the button that is blue and has a folder with a check mark over it. Click "Copy Folder" then click that same blue button again. Now swipe to confirm.
Step 11a: Click "back", "up a level", now do the same process as "step 11" for the folders "etc", "lib", and "lib64".
Step 11b (optional, but recommended): Go home (in twrp) and go to wipe then slide to wipe data & factory reset.
Step 12: Once all the folders in "Callfix" have been moved to "/". Go home (in twrp) and tap reboot > Download.
Step 13 (IMPORTANT, PHONE WON'T BOOT IF THIS ISN'T DONE) : In download mode (close Odin if open), open up Odin, click "AP" then select the file called "CF-Auto-Root-nobleltetmo-nobleltetmo-smn920t.tar". Now click "open" to select the file and click "start". This will not root the phone, even though you will get the SuperSU app. This will simply make the phone bootable (I don't have time to explain how this works).
Step 13a: Your phone will boot and you will see a new Samsung boot animation. It will boot up about half-way the first time, then crash and reboot (this is normal if it happens only a few times).
Step 14: Smack that thanks button and report any issues!
Thanks to: @bigbiff (for TWRP), and @Chainfire (for CF-AUTO-ROOT). Also, thanks to anyone who has ever worked on the Team Win Recovery Project.
Steps 11 and 11b were supposed to revolve around a flashable zip which I wasn't able to get to work, I'll most likely figure out some way to fix the flashable zip.
Also lets all thank @Chainfire for CF-Auto-root even though it doesn't root it (it's not supposed to), but it does something way better! It makes it bootable with the kernel I'm using!
My .tar file in the .zip file is still uploading to MEGA, ETA is 1 hour.
Does this method also trigger Knox sensor?

I am using the official kernel from the N920C firmware.
Credit to @bigbiff and any contributor to the Team Win Recovery Project since I do use TWRP in my tarball.
Are you able to make the audio fix flashable?
I'll wait for the OTA, but thanks for doing this for people.

This is a quote from ethanscooter, post #2
"Steps 11 and 11b were supposed to revolve around a flashable zip which I wasn't able to get to work, I'll most likely figure out some way to fix the flashable zip."
He tried to make the call fix flashable but it didn't work. He said he is still working on it.

I did a second test and only messaging and data works after applying that call fix. In call audio never worked in the first place. Steps 11 and 11b are still requires if you want data and SMS.
I am not changing the name of the "callfix.zip" file because it still does fix cellular, just not in call audio.

TIP: You can go into recovery (twrp) > mount > system. Then go to the file manager, and rename /system/lib/liboemcrypto.so to liboemcrypto.so.bak. Now you can play movies bought in google play using the youtube app without it failing to load the video.
