Due to good super-user integration with all apps, solid explorer requests super-user automatically when you try to paste this SystemUI.apk file:victory:

Just in case you didn't know what you were doing, you could end up deleting something useful.
You can mount it as r/w using the button on top.
P.S.:
If you are using Solid Explorer, copy the apk file, and then, paste it in /system/app.
A superuser notification will pop up. Accept it... The file is copied.:victory:
Then, set the permissions to -rw-r--r-- . This can be done by long pressing the file, and going to properties.
In properties, go to attributes, and click on change.
Set the attributes as follows, to get the -rw-r--r-- config.
----------------------------R-------------W-------------X
Owner-----------------(tick)--------(tick)
Group-----------------(tick)
Others----------------(tick)
Click Ok, and reboot your phone. The first time, you would get an "Android is upgrading" notification. Afterwards, no notifications will pop-up, and you can enjoy your new modded SystemUI.apk.

Try a superwipe.zip... and a reflashing. Replace SystemUI.apk in the ROM's zip with the systemUI.apk you want to install and then flash. that way, you have no hassles. Update superuser binary if you have problems in writing in the system partition.

C'mon man, using the root explorer is how I was able to find the file. I'm sure you read where I said "I can NOT nav to it when connected to the PC" this would have indicated I found the file with the root explorer.
root explorer will not allow rename, delete of any alteration.
If someone has any suggestions how to get rid of this file Please let me know

dased14 was referring to the android app root explorer...search market. It has nothing to do with deleting something over USB. The app will let you move, rename, or delete files from system as long as you have root access and enable the r/w setting.
There are certainly many other file explorers that can do this if you prefer another. Many of them at least have an option to enable root access.

Yes yes yes I am using got d s file explorer now that is how I found the file,
The point is, when connected via usb I cannot see the file.
I can we see the file when using the android file explorer.
However the file explorer does not allow renaming or any other alterations and I don't know why nor do I care, I only want to get rid of the bastard Goblin
I think you have been given the instructions.. but not reading...
If you can't change the the r/o to r/w of the directory you are in.. using Root explorer.. on your phone.. to delete this file..
Then you don't have root access and you are screwed as you don't own/control what's on your phone..

Nothing similar to this was found.
Within the system/media I did find it, was first looking in the wrong spot. However it doesn't let me delete the file or rename it. How do I remove it?
You will need root to delete it.
First remount /system to a writeable state and then delete the file or rename it.
Some advertising:
You can use my app to do that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013063
Start the app, go settings check "Remount /system", restart my app, browse to /system and delete or rename the file.

You will have to use an app or adb. If you don't know how to change boot animations properly, then you should probably stick with an app - no offense. If you're using Root Explorer, select the "mount r/w" button at the top. When you're finished, mount r/o the same way. Otherwise, the app mentioned in the post above mine will work. Do you have a different boot animation to replace it with? If you want the boot animation that came with the rom, just reflash the rom over itself. Just wipe cache and dalvik (don't wipe data) and you'll be good to go.

If you mean the first non animated picture you see once your phone starts, thats your splashscreen! The only way to get rid of this or swap it is to root your phone, & enable a Engineered Hboot & also get s-off otherwise you cannot get rid of it! Then you can use a program via your computer called Android Flasher to flash the splashscreen to your phone (just google it) thats what i use with my desire hd!
Hope this helps

[How-TO] activate sweep2wake on htc sensation

I AM TAKING NO OWNERSHIP FOR ANY OF THE CURRENT CONTENT OF THIS THREAD, NOR AM I CLAIMING IT TO BE OF MY CREATION
hello this is my first Thread on Xda. and today im going to show you guys how to activate sweep2wake function on htc sensation.
i've tried this with some kernels only such as (SebastianFM kernel , and buce's and stock android kernel) you can try this method with any kernel you want.
Let's Get to it
1. of course you must have rooted htc sensation with recovery: 4ext for example.
2. you must have file manager , i use Es file Explorer.
3. open the Es File Explorer just like the picture:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and now press on the " Favorites " and choose " / " which have mobile phone icon.
and now choose " System ".
now press on " etc " folder..
and press on " init.d " folder..
now search in these files for the kernel text.
and in my case the kernel text is: 01member.bak ... now press on it and open it as " Text " .
do you see the " SWEEP2WAKE " text ?
that's what you are going to edit.
now change the: SWEEp2WAKE=0 from 0 (which means it's OFF) to 1 (it means ON) or to 2 (on with no lights).
it's your choice !
now you just press on power button and Reboot into the recovery and fix permissions (restart the device into the recovery) the device.
Hey thanks for this! But, I found my SWEEP2WAKE=0 thingy in a file called 89bruce and I tried changing the zero to 1 it said that the operation failed! I tried several editors and none of em' worked :\ Can you help me?

1. Open your file manager
2. Go to /system and look for a file named build.prop
3. Open the the file in a text editor
4. Now search for the line ro.sf.lcd_density=160
5. Change 150 to 160
It should look like this:
6. Save and exit
7. Reboot
8. Apply your selected theme (I would recommend to reboot)
9. Open up again build.prop
10. Change 150 back to 160
11. Save, exit and reboot.

the new version of es has a little different setting for that, you should look carefully! to convert user apps into system apps you can use titanium backup app. it has this feature.

[Q] Reinstalling Google Play Store on Android 2.3.7 - Please help!! :(

Hi everybody,
I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace running Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, and have been uninstalling useless apps.
I noticed there were two versions of the Play Store on my phone: One was the original version, stored in the root, and the other was the v3.10.10 update, not stored in the root. I had the stupid idea of uninstalling both, and then reinstalling v3.10.10 in order to free up storage space...
I found the APK file for v3.10.10, and installed it onto my phone, but now whenever I open the app it just force closes!
Please, what am I supposed to do? I want Google Play Store to work again!! :'(
How did ya install.?
You pushed it to system/app?
With right permissions and reboot.

I downloaded the APK file for Google Play v3.10.10 from androidpolice.com/2012/12/13/download-latest-google-play-store-3-10-10/#download. Then I just transferred it to my phone through USB and installed it with my phone.
The app installed fine but whenever I try to open it it force-closes...
Try to Do it as I said above. I hope you know how to set permissions and stuff.
Uninstall what you installed now, push the apk to system/app and set permissions (rw-r--r--)

You are rooted right?
Grab a root browser.
Locate where the apk is, copy it and paste it in system/app. (make sure you mount it as r/w. It will be in settings or at the top)
Now scroll down and find the app there, long press, tap "permissions".
Tick it as in pic.

You are rooted right?
Grab a root browser.
Locate where the apk is, copy it and paste it in system/app. (make sure you mount it as r/w. It will be in settings or at the top)
Now scroll down and find the app there, long press, tap "permissions".
Tick it as in pic.

Agree. If rooted, grab the apk from following link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1561311&d=1355438293
Rename it to Vending.apk
Paste it in system/app [change folder permissions from read only (R/O) to Read/write (R/W) if required]
Change permissions to rw-r--r-- (long press on file name in root explorer)
Reboot if needed

EDIT: Got it working! Thank you so much guys, you're the best!!!!!!!!! I got scared I would have to reinstall the entire ROM when it didn't work at first. Thanks so much again!!!!

Thank you Vulcanize by your instructions, but only to register for other users of Chinese MTK phones rooted with Android 2.3.4.
This procedure does not work for the suggested version of Vending.apk (3.10.10)
I returned to original without problem.
