[Audio] Kspec ringtones, notifications, and alarms - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

This zip folder contains all of the media Ive used in past themes for the G1 and the Nexus One. Just open the zip file and copy the media folder to the root of your SD card. So it looks like: sd card\media\audio\......
It may take a minutes for the media to show up to select, to be on the safe side you can always just reboot your phone. Either way enjoy!
Download Kspec Media for Evo 4G here
I made a new file for those of you that have root access. You can put this on your SD card and flash it from the recovery screen to add my Kspec audio to your ROM.

Hey,
I'm not a nuub but I'm not a geek either, I know enough to be dangerous to my phone... ha ha.
after I reinstalled Deck's ROM and love it. I had a txt message come in and the audio file is some freaking goblin sounding annoyance beyond understanding.
can you please tell me how I can find this audio file and explain how to delete it without causing issues ?
Thanks
Rob

C'mon man, using the root explorer is how I was able to find the file. I'm sure you read where I said "I can NOT nav to it when connected to the PC" this would have indicated I found the file with the root explorer.
root explorer will not allow rename, delete of any alteration.
If someone has any suggestions how to get rid of this file Please let me know

I'm looking for assistance in getting rid of this file

dased14 was referring to the android app root explorer...search market. It has nothing to do with deleting something over USB. The app will let you move, rename, or delete files from system as long as you have root access and enable the r/w setting.
There are certainly many other file explorers that can do this if you prefer another. Many of them at least have an option to enable root access.

Yes yes yes I am using got d s file explorer now that is how I found the file,
The point is, when connected via usb I cannot see the file.
I can we see the file when using the android file explorer.
However the file explorer does not allow renaming or any other alterations and I don't know why nor do I care, I only want to get rid of the bastard Goblin

I think you have been given the instructions.. but not reading...
If you can't change the the r/o to r/w of the directory you are in.. using Root explorer.. on your phone.. to delete this file..
Then you don't have root access and you are screwed as you don't own/control what's on your phone..

anybody have a link to the file?

Nothing similar to this was found.
Within the system/media I did find it, was first looking in the wrong spot. However it doesn't let me delete the file or rename it. How do I remove it?
You will need root to delete it.
First remount /system to a writeable state and then delete the file or rename it.
Some advertising:
You can use my app to do that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013063
Start the app, go settings check "Remount /system", restart my app, browse to /system and delete or rename the file.

You will have to use an app or adb. If you don't know how to change boot animations properly, then you should probably stick with an app - no offense. If you're using Root Explorer, select the "mount r/w" button at the top. When you're finished, mount r/o the same way. Otherwise, the app mentioned in the post above mine will work. Do you have a different boot animation to replace it with? If you want the boot animation that came with the rom, just reflash the rom over itself. Just wipe cache and dalvik (don't wipe data) and you'll be good to go.

[Q] New boot animation?

You shouldn't have to mess with permissions. Just put your bootanimation.zip in /system/media just like the one that's already there and replace it.
^ Shift Faced
Don't forget to rename it the same as the one you are replacing. you can just pu old in the name of the original and leave it there and when the phone boots it will recognize the new bootanimation.zip. Abd if it doesn't work for some reason you can change the name back and you should be back to normal.
The problem I'm having is that every time if I try to place it there I get a system is read only folder error

I actually just literally changed my boot animation back to the BIOS one after upgrading to CM7.1
Hook the Shift up to your computer with USB Debugging on
Have the boot animation you want on the root of the SD card called bootanimation.zip
Open up CMD, cd to where you have adb set up
From there do this
adb devices
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media
To test it: adb shell bootanimation
Works for me everytime

S-Voice APK Leaked

SOURCE : Kickedface
Today, it seems that an S Voice APK was flying around on the interwebs. However, it looks like you have to go through a lot to actually get it to work. First, you’re going to need a Root Explorer.
There’s a few free ones out there, and one that costs $1.99. Just make sure it’s a Root Explorer. Then, you’re going to need to download the APK, mount it to R/O (just tap on Mount R/W and it’ll switch it), copy and paste it into system/app (through Root Explorer). Long press the S-Voice.apk and press permissions.

You’re going to need to change the permissions. They’re going to need to be: r-w, r, r. Then reboot. After that, go into /system/app using Root Explorer. Install it like you would install a regular app and then ta-da, there’s your S-Voice. If your S Voice app isn’t in /system/app, then just re-do it. Mine wasn’t there, so instead of rebooting, I just installed the app and it works fine now.
I’ve heard not to change any default settings, since it will then crash the app. Keep in mind that you’re probably going to need ICS for this to work, and your phone will need to be rooted. Also, the “Wake Up Galaxy!” command will probably not work. Try it if you want, but you’ll just be talking to a wall.
Go here for the download file!

Followed the instruction to the letter, it installs fine and I can run it, but unfortunately after I say "hi galaxy" and then command it an action, it gets stuck searching... sometimes it times out, sometimes it craches... but it never does what it's supposed to do... might need a bit of working on to integrate it to other phones, but all in all this is a good starting point! Change T-Mobile Wifi Calling icon for Sensation 4G

This icon has bugged forever... and I finally took care of it...
I couldn't find this for Sensation 4G... so I took from Galaxy SII forum and with a little guidance from XDA member KaneHusky got it done
So if you are on T-Mobile, and rely on wifi calling like I do, and want an ICS syle icon that is always in upper left corner... this is for you
(I am running CM9 RC1)

After:
1. Use root explorer to copy wifi calling .apk from system\app to root of sd card
(In CM9 file is: HTC-PYRTM-ICS-4.0.1-2.3-49986-4.3.apk)
2. Mount to PC and use 7-Zip to explore .apk (dont extract or mess with anything, just explore)
3. Explore to the folder: res\drawable-hdpi\
4. make sure icons are saved and renamed accordingly:
blue: "ic_status_notify.png"
green: "status_icon_incall.png"
5. Right-click drag to Copy the two attached icon files into the folder (they will overwrite ugly ass icons)
6. Copy over original .apk in system\app (backup original to be safe)
reboot into recovery, wipe cache, (i also fixed permissions although I don't think it's necessary) then reboot and enjoy the cleaner look
Boom
UPDATE:
Sorry Everyone.... didn't realize the attached images are renamed when inserted into a thread...
which makes my whole post meaningless as they will only overwrite the proper icons if named the same.
the step by step above has been elaborated on to hopefully alleviate this issue.

Updated APK
Hello,
Thanks first to Da_Sheezy for making this, I really like the new icons.
In the spirit of making things easier and the implied approval of Da_Sheezy, I am attaching the modified apk, so people don't have to do the whole 7zip thing.
In short, here are the steps:
1. Turn off Wifi in your phone, this is just a precaution.
2. Download the attached file.
3. Save it to root directory of SD card.
4. With Root Explorer, [/B]copy original apk (for backup purposes) anywhere in the SD card, but the root directory.[/B]
5. Now, copy the downloaded file to system/app, it will ask you if you want to replace the file, say yes. You phone will freeze for a couple of seconds and reboot automatically.
6. After rebooting, go back to system/app using Root Explorer and change permissions to rw-r--r--
7. Reboot your phone one more time and you are done.
I hope that this helps some people. I am currently running CM9 RC2 and it is working like a charm.
Thanks again to the OP for this.

Just in case you didn't know what you were doing, you could end up deleting something useful.
You can mount it as r/w using the button on top.
P.S.:
If you are using Solid Explorer, copy the apk file, and then, paste it in /system/app.
A superuser notification will pop up. Accept it... The file is copied.:victory:
Then, set the permissions to -rw-r--r-- . This can be done by long pressing the file, and going to properties.
In properties, go to attributes, and click on change.
Set the attributes as follows, to get the -rw-r--r-- config.

Click Ok, and reboot your phone. The first time, you would get an "Android is upgrading" notification. Afterwards, no notifications will pop-up, and you can enjoy your new modded SystemUI.apk.

Try a superwipe.zip... and a reflashing. Replace SystemUI.apk in the ROM's zip with the systemUI.apk you want to install and then flash. that way, you have no hassles. Update superuser binary if you have problems in writing in the system partition.
