[GUIDE] ZTE Warp N860 (Boost Mobile) Diag Mode - Android General

I needed to connect a ZTE Warp to CDMA Workshop and QPST on my pc, so I did some searching to find out how to put the phone into Diag Mode. Easy enough. Well, It took me longer than a few minutes with google to find the info I was looking for, but I did eventually find it. Hopefully this post will help others. I can confirm this works to get the Boost Mobile ZTE N860 (Warp) into diagnostic mode so it can be read by CDMAWS, qxdm, etc.
1. Install the ZTE handset usb drivers: https://www.dropbox.com/s/thf4ctjee960mnt/ZTE_Android_Driver.zip
2. Turn on the phone and connect to pc via usb (make sure you enable usb debugging in settings>applications>development)
3. On the phone go to Dialer and enter *983*87274#
4. A new window will open on the screen with a list of choices. Choose the first item on the list only.
5. Wait a minute or two while the necessary drivers are installed on your computer.
6. Now look in device manager, under ports you should see ZTE Handset Diagnostic Interface (com#).
7. On the phone press home to return to your home screen.
8. Make note of the com port # and you're all set.
You can now connect to qpst, qxdm, and so on. Don't forget to hit the Thanks button below if you found this useful.

Just want"d to say thanks....cause I needed that code...:good:

The above steps work for ZTE Avail z990 (ATT) as well. Works like a charm, ready to connect to QPST/QXDM in a breeze. Thanks.

I can't get qpst to recognize the warp n870. I have all the drivers. Cdma workshop is working just fine but I need to be able to use qpst.
I read somewhere that u have to put the port which is com11 in before it will recognize the phone in device programming. But I dont think im inputting the port in right cuz it wont accept it. Does anyone have some imput?

Cool, glad you figured it out. I didn't post any info on configuring qpst because it would've been off topic. I'm sure there are people that will appreciate the link you provided. Thanks.

Worked that time.
However... are you someone that can help me?
Followed your instructions until step 5.
I was a bit confused about which button to push. You said "first item"
So I pushed the FIRST item. The "all functions" button.
Windows came up with it's 3 choice dialog window.
Windows found new hardware.
Locate and install driver software.
Ask me again later.
Do not show this message again for this device.
So then I tried the second one (mass storage+adb) thinking that
maybe since it did a specific thing, you may have meant that one
as the "first item".
Windows did nothing at that point.
No port listing in Device Manager.
Now I'm lost and stuck.
Can you offer any help here?
Thank you,
John

OS is Vista 64 Home Pre.

Ok, first item on the list = "All functions".
Then if you see:

Choose "locate and install driver software". Windows should then install the drivers for you within a minute or so.
If you run into the same message as you did before:
Then I can only guess that it's a compatibility problem with Vista? But like I said, it's a guess. Never tried on Vista, but maybe someone else has? I've had no driver problems using Windows 7 or 8.

Hi...
Thank you for your reply.
Tried clicking on "Locate and install driver software"
Does the exact same thing on my Win 7 64 laptop.
Been going at this since 9am. Very frustrated. About to give up for tonight.
Thanks again,
John

Hi Guys...
Really could use some help here. Have same problem except
Device Manager shows some entries with the yellow triangle
sign. below is a pic of it.
Does the same thing with Win 7 64. Think this could be a 32
vs. 64bit issue? I have several computers but no 32bit OS.
Thanks very much to anyone willing to help me out with this.
J

Today I ran thru this whole procedure on a friend's laptop (windows 8 64-bit) and I didn't have any of the issues you've explained. Windows automatically installed the necessary drivers. The new ports should show up in device manager like this screenshot.
Maybe someone else can help you out..?

Thanks for the reply.
Does not show up in mine because the driver/drivers never install. I get the wrong platform error message.
I have decided to put the ZTE issue aside for now and try and do my wifes phone. And of course I'm having issues...
In DFS on the Mobile ID tab, DFS does not pull the aaa and ha data. And also I get the following errors:
get ds_mip_ss_user_prof cps_error bad_param
get ds_mip_dmu_mn_auth cps_error bad_param
S2 D-710 connects just fine and DFS accepts my SPC/MLS number and 16 digit password. And states
Unlocked in the console.
Going at this three days now. Worn out and pretty much sleep deprived. Sure wish I could get some TeamViewer
help from someone here
Have been laid off so funds are a bit short right now but would be more than happy to give a unlimited webhosting
account complete with Softaculous. Google it if you do not know what it is You would need to get your own
domain name though.
Anyway... thanks again for your reply.

[How To] Retrieve MSL CDMA Workshop Method

Update 9/14/10 -- There is an app in the market called MSL Reader that successfully found my MSL. It does require root access, my method will still work for phones that are not rooted. Thanks flexgrip for pointing this out, and mmastrac for the hard work developing the app.
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Since the other method using aLogCat doesn't seem to work for everyone, this is a more consistent method.
Please be very careful with CDMA Workshop. I am not responsible for your curiosity, or stupidity!
I have included screenshots for installing the drivers on Windows 7 x64. This seems to be a little different for most users, so I hope this helps. Windows XP should be pretty similar to below. You can enter Device Manager the same way. Some of the prompts will be slightly different, but at the end most of the same dialogs will appear.
Prerequisites:
CDMA Workshop - http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop.html
The Demo version will be able to retrieve the MSL.
HTC Diag Drivers - http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
I have compiled this zip which includes both x86 (32 bit), and x64 (64 bit) drivers for HTC diagnostics. I have successfully tested the x64 drivers on Windows 7, and all works without issue.
The Fun Part
Step 1 - Dial ##DIAG# (##3424#) on your phone.
Step 2 - Connect the phone to the computer via the USB cable. When prompted to install the drivers use the drivers from the ZIP provided above.
Windows will probably not be able to find the drivers:
You will need to manually install the drivers from Device Manager. Quickest way to get there is to press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog. Type in devmgmt.msc:
Once Device Manager is open you will see it cannot find the HTC Diag driver :
Right click on HTC Diag, and go to Update Driver. You will be prompted with the following, choose Browse my Computer. Then choose Let me Pick. Click Next. Click Have Disk. Browse to the drivers you downloaded, and choose the proper INF file. Click Next. Then finally Yes, if prompted :
If all went well you will see it installing the driver. Then finally let you know it was successfully installed!
Step 3 - Run CDMA Workshop you downloaded earlier.
Once CDMA Workshop is open click the word Port found on the right:
You will be given the options to select the correct COM port (Please note the demo version will only go to COM6. If you have an issue with this please Google how to change the COM port to something not in use.):
Once the correct COM port is selected click Connect:
Head over to the Security tab and click Read under the SPC / User Lock section:
If all has gone well you will be given your MSL code! It is the 6 digit number listed after pressing Read. Great Success!
Testing
The following sections should prompt for your MSL code. Enter what you have retrieved to find out if it is in fact the correct MSL code.
##data# (##3282#)
##debug#(##33284#)
##diag#(##3424#)
##svn#(##786#)
##prl#(##775#)
##prev#(##7738#)
##akey#(##2539#)
##vocoder# (##8626337#)
If you followed the steps correctly, the code should work.
Hope this helps everyone with finding their MSL when Sprint will not give it to you. Again, I am not responsible for what you do with this information. This is a use at your own risk method!

Not everyone was having the same luck. There are other ways to get your MSL. My corporate account rep gives me mine on all my phones when I ask. However, this is a method that will work for the masses, and not rely on customer service feeling giving or not.
I get this error when I try to run the SPC/User lock read.
Any Ideas?

great info. thanks a lot for this.
although EYE am havin a problem, i have a moto Q9c (sprint) and it isnt showing up on CDMA wrk.
i have activesync going and it connects fine to the phone.
i cannot even find the darn thing in device mang...
any ideas?
Worked great for me... Thanks!
Great
Had to restart phone when I changed the Com port, worked perfectly, thanx.
Worked like a charm for me. Thanks!
Here's a surefire way to get Sprint to give you the MSL with one phone call... Tell them you keep getting error 1012 whenever you try to use data or update the profile. They'll walk you through fixing the "error", and they have to give you the MSL in the process. Works every single time without fail!
Dude this works great and is quick, probably quicker than sitting through Sprint message prompts.
this works perfect it gave me the code but after that what can i do with im a noob sorry guys

[GUIDE] How to change the Sprint banner using CDMA workshop

What to change the Sprint banner to something else?
Well here is how.
This is a rough guide, maybe I'll get ambitious and spruce it up when I have some more time...
Install HTC Sync if you haven't already..
Get it here.
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=933&news_id=631
Gonna need the HTC Diag drivers, least I did... these work fine:
http://rapidshare.com/files/293529424/HTC_Hero_DIAG_Drivers.zip x86 32bit
Here are the /64 bit drivers thanks to techwerkz
http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
[highlight]Mod edit: No linking to warez site or suggesting users to get warez is allowed[/highlight]
Enter DIAG mode, dial ##diag#, let windows install the drivers...most likely it won't find the HTC DIAG drivers, but they are in the link above... get it installed.
Now in CDMA workshop, you really don't want to be effin' with stuff you aren't sure what it is... but we are here to change the banner right? riight so don't be changing anything else and you'll be a-ok.
Select your port, hit connect, hit read... goto the NAM tab...hit Read ...change the Banner from "Sprint" to whatever..hit "Write".... then you can reboot the phone and its done.
To find your port...

}
Select your port, hit connect then hit read. ( picture shows "Disconnect" only because I already pushed connect... )
Goto the NAM tab, hit read, change the banner, hit write. Reboot your phone
Enjoy!
Mods if there is a problem with me posting the link to isohunt, I'll gladly remove it.

The com port you are using is not the one the phone is using. Go into Device manager and see what port it is running on. The demo version will not allow above port 6 so you may have to change the port.

Didn't work for me. Windows 7 64 bit.
Edit: It does work on Windows 7 x64. The 64 bit drivers will not be recognized or installed by the Windows 7 automatically. You must force the installation of the drivers by choosing the "Browse" option then "Let Me Pick" option then the "Have Disk" option.
Thanks, that's awesome. I got it working no problem, just followed your instructions
I was sad though, it only lets you put up 12 characters I was going to put up Mistersquirrle but I had to truncate it to Mistrsquirrl. Still great though, thanks
good stuff guys
I did NOT have to install HTC Sync... maybe because I already have the driver installed for adb to work.
But yeah, just had to install the DIAG driver and it worked (Win7 x32)

I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?
I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.
Warning: Uninstall any previous driver package's you may have installed and also manually remove drivers by attaching your phone and going to Windows device manager and right click the entry for your phone and select "Uninstall" on the next prompt make sure to select "Delete the driver software for this device" then hit OK and reboot before installing these drivers

HI,

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an option in Windows 8...=/ I've got adb working from another driver but only when I'm booted into device rather than fastboot or recovery unfortunately. I'll just have to live with a non-permanent CWM for now...

After you download the driver, unzip/extract its contents. Then you go to your device manager on your PC, and plug in your Nexus. You'll see it with a yellow exclamation point, right click it and select update driver. You can then select this driver manually. Also, if using Wug's root method, make sure you configure the fastboot driver as well. I don't have my PC with me, but I believe its step 6 in the driver install process. Its all very easy, sounds confusing, but its not. Good luck!

[ GUIDE ] How to Boot Ubuntu 14.10 from USB on the Asus T200TA

THIS IS CURRENTLY A WORK IN PROGRESS I WILL UPDATE THIS DAILY SO KEEP TUNED
Download "ubuntu-14.10-desktop-amd64.iso" from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Download "Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.5.9.exe" from http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
*Important* Follow the directions on Pendrivelinux.comto make a bootable USB stick using the Ubuntu 14.10 ISO you downloaded earlier.
You should now be able to browse trough the files on the USB stick
Now Download this custom "bootia32.efi" from my repo https://github.com/Chadder43/T200TA-TinCan/blob/master/EFI/Boot/bootia32.efi, and place the file on the USB stick in the /EFI/BOOT folder. There should be two files in the folder already, just add the bootia32.efi to them.
Congrats, You now have a bootable USB stick!!!
To Launch Ubuntu
Swipe in from the right, and click on Settings.

Click Recovery
Under Advanced startup select Restart Now
Let the T200TA reboot
When it restarts click Troubleshoot

Click Restart
This is the "BIOS"
Now go over to the Save & Exit tab, and go down and select your USB device under the Boot Override Option. Mine happens to be "UEFI: MEMOREX TF20 PMAP"
Select Try Ubuntu without installing
It will Probably spit out a bunch of stuff like this
Then go to this screen
And it is still on it. It took quite a while to load. If I was using a USB 3.0 it would have been quicker
Welcome to Ubuntu 14.10
I will continue to update this daily so check back soon to learn how to fully install Ubuntu to a USB and get WIFI working along with other patches.
Thanks for sharing this.
Do you have a 64bit windows on your T200TA? I have the cheaper version, 32bit windows on a 64bit cpu. The usbstick wont start. I tried many ways, disabled secureboot, disabled fastreboot, nothing works... Can you help me?
Edit:
Nvm. I was too dumb to download bootia32.efi correctly.
Thanks for this. It's taking so long to load ubuntu because of all the i/o errors its reporting on the eMMC drive. I'm getting the same errors on mine, too, so I think we can safely assume there are no true i/o errors happening. Probably something to do with ubuntu trying to access Wimboot?
Anyway, looking forward to seeing how to get wifi working.
Thank you for share your work.

Chadder43 and others, have you made some progress with sound, wifi and other problems?

Have you tried disabling bitlocker encryption?
Thanks for this Chadder43, I had tried various methods to attempt running Linux on my machine, none worked until I used your method. I am sure all the bugs will be ironed out in time, wifi is essential. Will be trying various Linux distributions with your method to see if any work.

You can also just reboot and repeatedly hit Escape while reboot to enter boot menu. Repeatedly F2 while reboot enters uefi-settings.

No Problem,
Im sorry to everyone for not dedicating the time that I would like to this, but with school full time, and working on the weekends just to survive... well you know?
Has anyone tried to use ndiswrapper for the windows drivers? the wifi card and what seems like everything else is "wired" in I2C somehow, I havnt gotten that far, but soon I hope.
I tested with kubuntu 15.04 beta1 , it worked fine, unless already known faults: wifi, sound, etc. I love KDE 5 plasma.

Thanks Chadder43, for taking time to write this up. We you are to make any progress with respect to sound?
Great work, Chadder43! I've got it working too, with the already mentioned lack of sound, wifi, etc.
I wonder if it would be possible to make a true dual boot system of the T200, with GRUB or any other bootloader, or does UEFI put an end to that?
Any more update on this thread.
I really like to have a working wifi and sound.
hi, i am looking to install the ubuntu on t200ta, assus transformer, i was able to boot with usb and try the ubuntu , but my apprehension regarding touchpad , touch screen and other drivers issues are not clear. how to update them? has the issues of drivers addressed?

How to root Doogee F5 (METHOD ONE):
1. Download the attached zip file and extract it anywhere in an empty folder.
2. Download SPFlashTool (version v5.1516.00 reported as working) and flash the ins_boot.img file located in boot_images folder using the scatter file also found in that folder. Make sure to only tick Boot Image while flashing.
3. Run RootNow.bat and follow the instructions
4. Reflash the stock image also found in the boot_images folder
5. Profit?
How to root any 64bit ARM architecture Mediatek device (this one included) (METHOD TWO):
1. Dial *#*#3646633#*#*
2. Go to tab Log and Debugging
3. Select User2Root
4. Select Root
5. Run RootNow.bat and follow the instructions (except do not flash any of the images)
6. Do steps 1 to 3 again, then select User.
In the future I'm going to update this script to work with every Mediatek device out there.
If asking for support, please supply the adb_log.txt file.
Please report any bugs/issues here.
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. However one question. When I root it and it downloads an update from DOOGEE will the root stay or will I have to root it again? I had a tablet that every time it updated I had to root it again.
It's funny I've already received a case and a tempered glass screen overlay but still haven't received my phone.
Anybody tried this?

I finally succeeded, after several hours.
My problem came from the SPFlashTool that didn't recognized my device.
I've installed SPFlashTool v5.1516.00 (instead of v5.1352.01) and it worked like a charm. :good:
Thank you very much to MushroomLT and to Lazyassgram.

Seems like the flash tool can't access the files. Maybe try running as an administrator?

Could you post the error with the error window moved out of the way of the main one? And have you tried redownloading the zip archive? The scatter file could be corrupt.

Sorry I thought I'd replied to this. I hadn't renamed the boot images, I just thought the software sorted all that, so the odd file name didn't strike me as odd!

Phone is now rooted!
hello everybody, (for information my config: Pc with Xp SP3 and phone, doogee f5 with android 5.1)
I have a pb preventing me from accessing to the "boot_images folder" through the "SPFlashTool's scatter loading file browser".
I have to precise that whatever PC I try to connect my phone to, the connexion as "usb storage" doesnt work, on the contrary to a connexion as a multimedia device. I suppose, if I could succeed in connecting as a "usb storage" i could manage to accession to the ins_boot.img.
Could you please help me resolving this pb? Thanx

Hi, in order to flash an image, you need to turn off your device, press download on your PC and then connect your device to the pc, download should start, but first make sure that you've installed the necessary drivers. And update your windows, as xp is unsupported and VERY unsafe to use.

Hi, I'm not sure, it really depends on the update. Where have you ordered the tempered glass from? I would really like one but can't seem to find it.

Sorry MushroomLT,
Dont you have a link for the drivers (i tried the universal one of krush but didnt change anything). Concerning the way of flashing i tried what you told but it didnt work so i suppose i havent the required driver for my xp system to recognise my doogee f5 as a usb storage.

Unfortunately, I think XP might be to old for the drivers.
