I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?
I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.
Warning: Uninstall any previous driver package's you may have installed and also manually remove drivers by attaching your phone and going to Windows device manager and right click the entry for your phone and select "Uninstall" on the next prompt make sure to select "Delete the driver software for this device" then hit OK and reboot before installing these drivers
Code:
Google Nexus Devices ADB & Fastboot
Samsung Devices ADB & Fastboot
Asus Devices ADB, Fastboot & APX
HTC Devices ADB & Fastboot

How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:

Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
Enjoy!

HI,
I see you warning on 0.6.1 about Transformer. So now, is it safe to use your driver with Transformer and HTC phone? ( I am still waiting for my Nexus 7 but I wanna get ready. )

thank you so much for this, it was the missing link in my root adventure

Any drivers for MTP?

Yea i'm having issues finding the MTP driver myself. One would think that this would be on Google's site or Asus's site but there isn't anything. Anyone know where to find it?

Whenver I try to install the driver Windows gives me an error saying, ""The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering." And it won't let me install them. Any ideas? Thanks.

You need to click "install anyway" or whatever the button says. This isn't an official hashed driver

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an option in Windows 8...=/ I've got adb working from another driver but only when I'm booted into device rather than fastboot or recovery unfortunately. I'll just have to live with a non-permanent CWM for now...

Doesn't seem to work on my amd64-bit machine. I followed the instructions perfectly and it just returns with a error saying "windows was unable to install your nexus"... need help here to get adb/fast boot installed on either windows or Linux.
Edit: NM Got it had to install 64bit pdanet drivers!

Worked perfectly, thanks a lot!

I had to manually search for the driver using windows for it to install, thanks!

Thanks for this. The "Nexus 7" driver would install within seconds normally, but the "Nexus" driver always failed when USB debugging was enabled. This driver worked like a charm for USB debugging.
Auto-play doesn't work though.
Win7 32-bit.
Samsung SPH-D700 driver installed.
Now Nexus 7 driver installed.

Thanks for this.

After you download the driver, unzip/extract its contents. Then you go to your device manager on your PC, and plug in your Nexus. You'll see it with a yellow exclamation point, right click it and select update driver. You can then select this driver manually. Also, if using Wug's root method, make sure you configure the fastboot driver as well. I don't have my PC with me, but I believe its step 6 in the driver install process. Its all very easy, sounds confusing, but its not. Good luck!

Thank you, i ll try it after work, since i havent plug the n7 in my laptop yet, thats why i need it for reinstall the stock rom>< my is defected with asus rom

You are the best.:good:
I can't get ADB works on my Nexus 7 even with the lastest Android SDK from Google. But your driver works instantly.
I am looking forward you continue update the device list. Let me know if I can help anything!! :highfive:

Almost... hours trying to make it work, got this far

[GUIDE] How to change the Sprint banner using CDMA workshop

What to change the Sprint banner to something else?
Well here is how.
This is a rough guide, maybe I'll get ambitious and spruce it up when I have some more time...
Install HTC Sync if you haven't already..
Get it here.
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=933&news_id=631
Gonna need the HTC Diag drivers, least I did... these work fine:
http://rapidshare.com/files/293529424/HTC_Hero_DIAG_Drivers.zip x86 32bit
Here are the /64 bit drivers thanks to techwerkz
http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
[highlight]Mod edit: No linking to warez site or suggesting users to get warez is allowed[/highlight]
Enter DIAG mode, dial ##diag#, let windows install the drivers...most likely it won't find the HTC DIAG drivers, but they are in the link above... get it installed.
Now in CDMA workshop, you really don't want to be effin' with stuff you aren't sure what it is... but we are here to change the banner right? riight so don't be changing anything else and you'll be a-ok.
Select your port, hit connect, hit read... goto the NAM tab...hit Read ...change the Banner from "Sprint" to whatever..hit "Write".... then you can reboot the phone and its done.
To find your port...

}
Select your port, hit connect then hit read. ( picture shows "Disconnect" only because I already pushed connect... )
Goto the NAM tab, hit read, change the banner, hit write. Reboot your phone
Enjoy!
Mods if there is a problem with me posting the link to isohunt, I'll gladly remove it.
Thank you so much love these tips

The com port you are using is not the one the phone is using. Go into Device manager and see what port it is running on. The demo version will not allow above port 6 so you may have to change the port.

Looks good. My 64bit w7 gave me a hard time, it wouldn't install the drivers correctly so I wasn't able to do it last night. I was however, successful when I used my work's xp this morning so it works now.
Thanks!
w7 x64 here also, and it keeps installing the Diag driver as a network driver....

I have the same issue as well on my Windows 7 x64. Looks like a bug in the installer from HTC. We should let them know its Jacked!. lol
Got it!! For all those with win7 64bit, I have attached the appropriate driver to get the HTC Diag working. Verified this on my machine and installed no problems.

Didn't work for me. Windows 7 64 bit.
Edit: It does work on Windows 7 x64. The 64 bit drivers will not be recognized or installed by the Windows 7 automatically. You must force the installation of the drivers by choosing the "Browse" option then "Let Me Pick" option then the "Have Disk" option.
Thanks, that's awesome. I got it working no problem, just followed your instructions
I was sad though, it only lets you put up 12 characters I was going to put up Mistersquirrle but I had to truncate it to Mistrsquirrl. Still great though, thanks
good stuff guys
I did NOT have to install HTC Sync... maybe because I already have the driver installed for adb to work.
But yeah, just had to install the DIAG driver and it worked (Win7 x32)

[Drivers][APP] LG Mobile Support Tool / Nvidia NvFlash APX Driver for LGP999DW G2x

Thought I would make a one stop shop for driver support.
These are all the drivers you need to support and mod your T-Mobile G2x Phone in Windows x64 and x386 based O/S.

This app is for future upgrades and will also give you the option to install the current driver suite to support the phone in windows. The current LG Driver installer floating around is missing like 3 drivers. This app will get them all in.
*** This Does not include the Nvidia NvFlash Drivers*** (See below to get those.)
It's an easy method of installing the drivers needed for root, SD access for windows, modem , serial, etc... And will keep your drivers updated as well as your phone as updates are available.
Instructions:
Download and extract the installer.
Install the app.
Plug the phone in to the USB cable to the computer.
Launch app and click on install drivers. This will install the latest LG drivers.

Nvidia NvFlash APX Driver[/SIZE][/B]
Unlike a lot of Android phones out there the Nvidia Tegra2 chipset require additional drivers in Windows to support low level flashing.
Install Instructions for Nvidia NvFlash APX Windows Driver
(Windows x86 and x64 O/S Drivers):
****If you are running VmWare kill it.****
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Vol Up/Down keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: \"Nvidia APX Windows Drivers".
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC (User Account Control)).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

It's supposed to upgrade the firmware if an upgrade is available. Right now the latest firmware is V10f. So it won't do anything coz your phone has that firmware already. So as the OP said, this is for FUTURE upgrades.
So I'm an idiot and held down the power up/vol down button.... Back to a new install.... Damnit!
worked like a charm, thanks a lot for this sir.
my g2x improved?
I used this tool and after it updated my drivers for pc i think and i then rebooted my phone seems smoother and seems to look a little better (color). weird, maybe i'm mistaken but i don't care!
I got a Dot Net exception on XP:
Code:
The action that failed was:
LinkDemand
The type of the first permission that failed was:
System.Security.PermissionSet
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
Intranet
Config: XP inside VirtualBox w/ APX having a USB Device Filter
Cause: This was caused by my trying to run it from a fileshare.
Fix: when I copied the files to the machine's desktop it worked as expected
Thanks for your hard work, cheers,
-G
P.S. should also mention:
You should see it send a bunch of files to the device and the phone screen should say "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...". Once the files are sent and the program is finished running in the command window, you CAN just pull the USB cord or be safe and just wait a few extra minutes, however it will still say "upgrading."

If we already did this with your recovery tool are the drivers supposed to stick? Or are the drivers only recognized when pulling the battery and holding vol up/down? Reason I ask because I flashed the recovery with your tool and was just double checking this thread and noticed that under USB devices I no longer had the nividia drivers in there (this is with phone battery not pulled just plugged in to usb debugging). Thanks

Drivers on Windows 8

I had the HTC drivers installed before on my laptop, and that worked. But now since I have to use my desktop, which has windows 8 installed, I can't install the drivers. Does anyone know how to fix this? Otherwise I'm stuck
Im pretty sure the Drivers are unsigned. And thats why you cant install. I cant remember for the life of me if I had to do that so...
When you boot up.. Hit Shift+F8 and you should get the option to allow you to install unsigned drivers.
"1 In Windows 8 Developer Preview, the F8 experience has been reworked. Hit Shift-F8 instead.2"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/matthew_van_eerde/archive/2011/09/14/how-to-install-unsigned-drivers.aspx
Edit: I was able to get to that menu another way and disabled signature enforcement. But now when I click on the exe file to start the driver installation nothing happens

Device Manager is Your Friend
I got it to work by disabling signature enforcement and then manually installing the drivers in device manager.
You have to find the .inf files in the installation directory, and manually select and approve them for each unrecognized device in device manager. You can't let it search for drivers, you have pick "I've got my own, and they're over here."

-"Browse" to the unzipped folder and select "android_winusb"
-Click "Install", and make sure you install the drivers (You properly get a warning)

Try going to device manager and under other devices, there should be android 1.0. You might have to have HTC Manager installed for this to show up. Go to properties for the device and update driver, select browse my comp.. then let me pick from a list, there you should find my HTC
That should work, it did for me. I was able to use fastboot adb, the whole show after.
Easiest way is to install the drivers on a Windows 7 device, then go to Program Files > HTC and copy the drivers folder from there.
Then use these files to install on Windows 8 manually through device manager. Works for me.
Does anybody know if I already have the drivers installed on Win 7, then I upgrade my computer to Win 8, will the drivers still be there?

[Q] Windows 7 does not recognise Nexus 5

That problem of Windows 7 not recognising a Nexus device in explorer has reared its ugly head again.
So I followed the steps outlined in the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2511829
The problem is that when I go into Device manager - Android device isn't even listed so I can't uninstall the drivers to begin with. It's not even listed under the other devices tab.
Funny that when I plug in my Nexus 4 windows explorer sees the phone and I'm able to access the internal memory, same with my other android devices but not the Nexus 5.
You would think just because the laptop is able to see the Nexus 4 the same would apply for the Nexus 5, however I can't access the memory on the N5 so I can transfer my files across to it.
Any suggestions as to how I can get my laptop to see my Nexus 5 and play nice?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers Mate I've already seen the video still doesn't solve the issue of my computer not being able to display Android device in device manager so I couldn't do anything further. If I don't find a solution I'm going to have to send the Nexus 5 back. Same thing happened to my Nexus 7 (2013).

I don't know the details, but you can remove drivers even if you don't see the device in device manager.

Yep you hit the nail on the head, I tried with my XP based laptop and nothing happened, same issue. However I borrowed my Sister's Windows 7 laptop which is virtually free of any mobile phone device drivers and it recognised it straight away.so at least I know that it's my laptop.
Thanks for the link I'll read up and clear out the old drivers from the laptop.
Mods - please close the thread as the problem has been solved.
Thank you

Not recognise nexus 5
Instead of going to device manager..you can goto the Devices/Printers screen. You should see the "Nexus 5" there. Then you can just follow the same instructions...Uninstall...delete...unplug...plug back in...let the drivers reinstall and you should be good...

This worked for me. Removed old android drivers then plugged my phone in and it worked immediately.

This did not work for me at all.
In Devices and Printers it shows the Nexus 5 at the bottom under Unspecified, and in Device Manager it shows Android ADB Interface under Android Device.
Any other suggestions, this is getting frustrating, I just got my Nexus 5 this week.
Mine shows in device manager as nexus 4. But everything works fine....fastboot flashes fine too.

Hey, I got the same problem whith my Nexus 5, nothing of the above solution worked, I could see the phone in Devices and Printers as Unspecified, also the driver name for it was Google Nexus ADB Interface.
Here's the trick: find this driver in the Device Manager list, mine was under SAMSUNG Android Phone (I've had a GS3 before) and just delete the driver. Disconnect the phone and reconnect it.
This did the trick for me.

I had really great success by uninstalling my native Motherboard Bluetooth Windows drivers and installing a collection of Bluetooth Device Drivers for Win7x32, Win7x64, Win8x32, Win8x64 as described here:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!profile/nexus/APn2wQcN3jAwsMaRmHxTJwjtvUT_HDWlNBeBu76qkOnsBDxLti84ht5Y3glif01YNS6y9MwTKsIt/nexus/LtlagbB2RAY/nleuV7CY95IJ
To get File Browsing of the folders on the Nexus 5 working I had to install a Free GooglePlay store App called BluetoothFTP.

[Q] A0001 not installed

Hello XDA community,
I just bought a new computer that came with Windows 8.1.
When I plug in the 1+, my computer won't read the phone... Out of frustration, I even wiped the entire phone and no luck. I have been searching for 8 hours already... lol, I also installed the SAMSUNG USB drivers for Mobile Phones and ran the adb setup 1.4.2. I need help so I can transfer my media files to my phone. The phone no longer gives the option to set as MTP in the notification area. Sorry, if I am being confusing. Thank you for your assistance. Take care.
what version of windows 8.1 do you have.
It just says Windows 8.1
Did you try a different cable? Is the phone detected on a different computer?

Sorry buddy your reply was not clear enough for me.
1. When you connect your phone to another computer was it only charging or were you able to see MTP.
2. what ROM and kernel are you on currently.
3. Try if you can see your device as adb device using TWRp.

Hello vamshi88
1. I was able to see MTP on my older computer.
2. I am using the latest AK kernel, using stovk CM 11S
3. Do you mean wipe cache and dalvik cache?

Do you have synapse installed on your phone? If not download it from the play store. Open synapse and go to "misc" tab and see if the "usb fast charge" is enabled or disabled.
If it says enabled then disable it, try connecting your phone to PC again.

Ok let's see, connect your phone to pc boot to twrp go to advanced>adb side load> swipe to sideload.
Open cmd move to SDK directory and enter "adb devices", if you can see your device there your drivers are fine.
Let me know.

It just says list any devices.
But I don't see my A0001 listed in the cmd.
I need the drivers installed but Windows 8.1 is giving me a tough time.
First thing I did with my 8.1 9600 build was disable driver signature.
I have 4 USB cables and only 1 of them is a data transfer cable, the rest just charge my phone from the laptop. Took me awhile to figure this out.
Here is the driver information, it looks like it uses a camera driver from the icon.

Hello,
I no longer see my device in the device manger settings. Also in the control panel, it is no longer there too.
I tried plugging in the device into other USB ports as well, the computer is only giving charge and not reading the 1+.

Hi,
I do not have other versions of Windows 8.1.
I remember that I uninstalled some bloatware after setting up the new PC. But I do not remember everything I uninstalled.. :crying:
The computer I bought was this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K0K9O3E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Are you using stock OPO's cable? OPO doesn't requires any driver to connect to PC in MTP mode.
