It's an easy method of installing the drivers needed for root, SD access for windows, modem , serial, etc... And will keep your drivers updated as well as your phone as updates are available.
Instructions:
Download and extract the installer.
Install the app.
Plug the phone in to the USB cable to the computer.
Launch app and click on install drivers. This will install the latest LG drivers.

Unlike a lot of Android phones out there the Nvidia Tegra2 chipset require additional drivers in Windows to support low level flashing.
Install Instructions for Nvidia NvFlash APX Windows Driver
(Windows x86 and x64 O/S Drivers):
****If you are running VmWare kill it.****
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Vol Up/Down keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: \"Nvidia APX Windows Drivers".
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC (User Account Control)).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.

It's supposed to upgrade the firmware if an upgrade is available. Right now the latest firmware is V10f. So it won't do anything coz your phone has that firmware already. So as the OP said, this is for FUTURE upgrades.

So I'm an idiot and held down the power up/vol down button.... Back to a new install.... Damnit!

worked like a charm, thanks a lot for this sir.

my g2x improved?
I used this tool and after it updated my drivers for pc i think and i then rebooted my phone seems smoother and seems to look a little better (color). weird, maybe i'm mistaken but i don't care!

I got a Dot Net exception on XP:
Code:
The action that failed was:
LinkDemand
The type of the first permission that failed was:
System.Security.PermissionSet
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
Intranet
Config: XP inside VirtualBox w/ APX having a USB Device Filter
Cause: This was caused by my trying to run it from a fileshare.
Fix: when I copied the files to the machine's desktop it worked as expected
Thanks for your hard work, cheers,
-G
P.S. should also mention:
You should see it send a bunch of files to the device and the phone screen should say "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...". Once the files are sent and the program is finished running in the command window, you CAN just pull the USB cord or be safe and just wait a few extra minutes, however it will still say "upgrading."

Is the LG tool suppose to take a long time to start up?? When I click on the LG icon on my desktop it starts loading but never seems to get done.

Do you see the big red letters saying kill VmWare? The virtual VM driver for the USB device in the native O/S does not play nice with APX Driver in the host machine.

What does the original post say? It's all in there. Please read it.

If we already did this with your recovery tool are the drivers supposed to stick? Or are the drivers only recognized when pulling the battery and holding vol up/down? Reason I ask because I flashed the recovery with your tool and was just double checking this thread and noticed that under USB devices I no longer had the nividia drivers in there (this is with phone battery not pulled just plugged in to usb debugging). Thanks

Drivers on Windows 8

I had the HTC drivers installed before on my laptop, and that worked. But now since I have to use my desktop, which has windows 8 installed, I can't install the drivers. Does anyone know how to fix this? Otherwise I'm stuck
Im pretty sure the Drivers are unsigned. And thats why you cant install. I cant remember for the life of me if I had to do that so...
When you boot up.. Hit Shift+F8 and you should get the option to allow you to install unsigned drivers.
"1 In Windows 8 Developer Preview, the F8 experience has been reworked. Hit Shift-F8 instead.2"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/matthew_van_eerde/archive/2011/09/14/how-to-install-unsigned-drivers.aspx
Edit: I was able to get to that menu another way and disabled signature enforcement. But now when I click on the exe file to start the driver installation nothing happens

Personally... I dont remember fully how I managed it. It was at the beginning of the month when I first got the One X. Its possible, for sure. I believe I got PDAnet too somewhere to make it work.
Device Manager is Your Friend
I got it to work by disabling signature enforcement and then manually installing the drivers in device manager.
You have to find the .inf files in the installation directory, and manually select and approve them for each unrecognized device in device manager. You can't let it search for drivers, you have pick "I've got my own, and they're over here."

There weren't any unidentified devices so that didn't work for me. However I got it to work by allowing installation of unsigned drivers and manually updated the driver with this universal android driver. I forgot exactly what it's called. I can give a link for anyone else with issues

Adb works fine HTC sync doesn't
I tried installing the driver package binary on my Win8 laptop last night and it refused to work. mitchell985 linked to the INF files you can use to install manually through Device Manager and then use adb with. I got my files from another source, but his should work, too. Like he said, no HTC Sync.
Thanks! This works like a charm!
-Download unrEVOked driver (Unsigned driver)
-I'm not able to post the link, due to XDA regulations for new users...
-Google "unrEVOked driver htc usb" and go to the second link (androidforums.com)
-Click on "unrEVOked modified USB Driver"
-Unzip
-Open Device Manager and rightclick on "Android phone", "HTC ..." etc.
- "Update Driver Software"
-"Browse from computer"
-"Let me pick"...
-"Have disk"
-"Browse" to the unzipped folder and select "android_winusb"
-Click "Install", and make sure you install the drivers (You properly get a warning)
-If no yellow exclamation marks appears on the device icon in Device Manager... You are good to go :good:

Try going to device manager and under other devices, there should be android 1.0. You might have to have HTC Manager installed for this to show up. Go to properties for the device and update driver, select browse my comp.. then let me pick from a list, there you should find my HTC
That should work, it did for me. I was able to use fastboot adb, the whole show after.
Easiest way is to install the drivers on a Windows 7 device, then go to Program Files > HTC and copy the drivers folder from there.
Then use these files to install on Windows 8 manually through device manager. Works for me.
Does anybody know if I already have the drivers installed on Win 7, then I upgrade my computer to Win 8, will the drivers still be there?

[Q] ADB not recognizing phone on USB when its booted android, fine in recovery

Hey everyone, basically just what the title says. I plug it into the computer via USB, and ADB will not see the device when it's booted into Android. However when I boot it into recovery, it sees it fine.
I'm running Cyanogen 9 for a rom and TWRP for recovery.
Booted into android:
C:\Users\Michael>adb devices
List of devices attached
Booted into recovery:
C:\Users\Michael>adb devices
List of devices attached
b3fe68e1 recovery
I've tried installing drivers, deleting drivers, reinstalling drivers, rebooting, countless times now. Samsung's own software Kies won't even recognize the phone.
I am able to use ADB over wifi with ADB Wireless.
C:\Users\Michael>adb devices
List of devices attached
10.0.0.99:5555 device
Oh, and I can turn on USB Storage and access the filesystem with no problems.. so that works fine.
Am I going crazy or has someone else had this same problem? Thanks everyone.
Sorry for the silly question but have you enabled it in settings? That may or may not help you:thumbup:

I should have posted that in my original thread.. but yes I have it enabled. I tried having ADB over network enabled just to see if it would help.. but it did't.
Is "USB Debugging" in the phone (inside Android) checked ? check this option and see..
PS:sorry if it is enabled ... ROM problem ? did adb work on stock ROM ?
Yep it is enabled. It did not work with the stock rom either and the only reason I know that is because my wife just got the same phone yesterday and I noticed it wasn't working while trying to root it.
Start all over again ...
Uninstall all drivers for the device and kies..
Install adb and USB driver for the phone and try again ...
You seem to have a software problem (a driver issue) somewhere around your PC (are you on Mac or Windows ?)

Yeah I agree it must be something to do with Windows. I will try installing the drivers and such on a computer at work on Monday and see what gives.
In the mean time I uninstalled everything and rebooted. Then I downloaded the drivers from Samsung's website, from here:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...27_GS_II_Skyrocket_USB_Driver_v1_3_2200_0.exe
I also read this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415051
and the #2 article points to: ATT_i777_GS2_USB_Drivers.zip
So I tried installing that too. Still nothing.
I took a couple screenshots during the process, maybe it will raise a red flag to one of you guys because I certainly can't figure this out.
When I plug in my phone, the "Android" device is what comes and goes. I've tried updating the drivers for that and pointing them to the Samsung drivers directory, just says it can't find them.
I admit to still being new around the whole android development thing, but with Windows I'm pretty proficient, I just can't figure out what I'm missing.
Just out of curiosity, why do you need to access adb with the phone not in recovery? You can do push pull commands through adb even if phone is in recovery

Personally I just like being able to have access to use adb. I can still use it over wifi using "adb wireless" so it's not a complete loss -- but for some reason the fact that the usb isn't working is just bothering me.
I'm not going to spend much more time fighting with it.. I'm sure it has something to do with the windows and the drivers.

Hey I know this thread is a week old or so, but I just wanted to let you know I found the problem. The problem was actually the Cyanogenmod ROM I had installed.
I was having a few other unrelated problems with that rom so I decided to try SkyICS, and low and behold.. I can now access adb via usb.
Just wanted to put the solution forward and maybe it will shine light on someone else's problem.
Thanks again to everyone for all their help.

Not exactly a solution though, in that Sky ICS is still a TW-based ROM (as in, based off the stock ROM) and not an AOSP-based ROM like CM9 or AOKP.
I also had this issue. The problem was in fact a Windows driver issue though, even though I had installed them already. When I went to Device Manager it would always show up as generic "Android" device with no driver under "other devices". I right-clicked it, Selected "Update device drivers" and then I believe there was an option to select drive from existing installed drivers. I'm on my linux partition right now so I forget what the precise option dialogue was, but it was a separate option from the "Browse my computer" option. From there it opened up a long list and I scrolled down and found one of the Samsung entries listed. I believe it was Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (there were others like SAMSUNG in all caps, etc.). I then selected the driver from the list within that Samsung group and ADB worked again.

I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?
I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.
Warning: Uninstall any previous driver package's you may have installed and also manually remove drivers by attaching your phone and going to Windows device manager and right click the entry for your phone and select "Uninstall" on the next prompt make sure to select "Delete the driver software for this device" then hit OK and reboot before installing these drivers

Wait a bit.

HI,
I see you warning on 0.6.1 about Transformer. So now, is it safe to use your driver with Transformer and HTC phone? ( I am still waiting for my Nexus 7 but I wanna get ready. )

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an option in Windows 8...=/ I've got adb working from another driver but only when I'm booted into device rather than fastboot or recovery unfortunately. I'll just have to live with a non-permanent CWM for now...
Doesn't seem to work on my amd64-bit machine. I followed the instructions perfectly and it just returns with a error saying "windows was unable to install your nexus"... need help here to get adb/fast boot installed on either windows or Linux.

After you download the driver, unzip/extract its contents. Then you go to your device manager on your PC, and plug in your Nexus. You'll see it with a yellow exclamation point, right click it and select update driver. You can then select this driver manually. Also, if using Wug's root method, make sure you configure the fastboot driver as well. I don't have my PC with me, but I believe its step 6 in the driver install process. Its all very easy, sounds confusing, but its not. Good luck!
Thank you, i ll try it after work, since i havent plug the n7 in my laptop yet, thats why i need it for reinstall the stock rom>< my is defected with asus rom

Hi mrichiem! I have the same phone but was unable to root it with Bin4ry v17, though I have installed the drivers using Moborobo and also tried with Super OneClick. What process have you made to root it? O_O I tried taking it to safe mode, but still the permission is still denied. I am searching ways to root it but since it was just released last December, I guess the company is suppressing the growth of tutorials of rooting their models. But I guess the company is expecting users to root it because of it's low internal memory. O_O Thanks.
::ROOT:: Cloudfone Excite 350g
Let me set down here exactly what I did to root my excite 350g. The files you will need are attached, but you will have to search and download Moborobo. I had to research the proper way to install the drivers as my first attempt ended up soft-bricking my phone. I had to bring it to the service center to have it repaired. Funny thing was my warranty still covered it, even though it was already rooted and I had changed the boring yellow bootanimation.
So, be warned and root at your own risk!!
Extract the files to a folder or your desktop. Turn off your 350g and remove the battery. The next step will take a bit of dexterity and timing. Plug the USB cable to your PC. Press and hold the Volume up button on the phone and quickly insert the battery. The pc will prompt you to install drivers for the device. Just direct the wizard to the MTK65xx Driver folder. Once drivers are installed release the volume up button. Open the MTK Android PC Sync Tool and select Cloudfone Excite 350g in the popup. This will install the MTK Suite Daemon on the phone. Once done, you can close the tool. Next open Moborobo which will automatically install additional drivers for the phone. Once you have done all of this, you may now proceed with rooting. I have included two versions of bin4ry in the file. Try using Root Mtk Android 4.0.4 v15 first. If this does not work, use Root MTK ICS. The phone should now be rooted.

Great!
Haha. As they were saying that the warranty will be void if you have rooted the phone. Great! Thanks! I'll try it. I hope i won't end up bricking my phone. Thanks mrichiem! :good: I will reply as soon as I have tried the method. :highfive:

Please install this app from the Google PlayStore:
Android Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich
It is mainly a Linux Command Prompt Emulator that is used to do some functions such as cp (Copy), ifconfig (Get the IP address of your phone), etc.
After you installed it, please follow the instructions below:
Open the Android Terminal Emulator App.
Type: cd root
If you see something like /system/bin/sh: cd: /root - Permission denied, you are not yet rooted. And maybe that is the reason why the SuperUser app was not installed.
Are you rooting the your CM Flare? I guess this trick works only for Cloudfone350g.
Sir, exactly how many seconds does it take for you to plug the phone via usb then hold the volume up and insert the battery?? i cannot seem to get it right. i've tried a dozen times already and i still can't get it.

Replying to all
HI ALL!
At first I was having difficulty with this method trying this on Windows 7. But I switched to Windows XP in order to see if there would be difference. Use Windows XP instead because I have successfully rooted my phone with that.
I just rooted my phone now, so it took me a long time to reply. It is because I tried to see if someone would verify the trick and to give further instructions to it. But then, it seems no one is willing to share. XD
So here is the reason for each step of the trick.
1. Insert the USB Cable (take note, the USB cable to the PC not to the Phone), insert the battery, then hold Volume UP. This would only take less than 10 seconds. It's aim is to force the PC to detect the MTK Preloader so that you can install it the drivers for it.
2. Run MTK Android PC Sync Tool and let it install the MTK driver for your phone. The aim is to install the "debug mode MTK driver" into your Phone so that the Root by Bin4ry would be able to copy files into your Phone's internal memory and run commands.
3. Lastly, Open moborobo and let it install the Moborobo Suite Daemon into your device. The aim is just like the #2. To add drivers that will support the rooting.
Root it with Root Mtk Android 4.0.4 v15.
I have added some screenshots as a proof Hit thanks for me and mrichiem if you have succeed!

Backup rom
Please backup rom for me, i need rom!!
I also had the same problem as I has already rooted my Excite 350g before backing up the ROM. So I had to search the net to look for a way to restore my phone in case something went wrong. And indeed, something went wrong. I ended up flashing the original Mobiistar firmware and discovered something interesting. The original camera resolution of the device is 3MP, which is what I have now. And after uninstalling the stock Vietnamese files, I ended up with 160MB of free internal memory. The site is in Tieng Viet, so use Chrome to translate the page as it loads and depend more on the screenshots than the actual instructions. As usual, flashing MTK ROMs work best on PCs running Windows XP.

Posting benchmark results before and after flashing the stock Mobiistar ROM.

[Q] A0001 not installed

Hello XDA community,
I just bought a new computer that came with Windows 8.1.
When I plug in the 1+, my computer won't read the phone... Out of frustration, I even wiped the entire phone and no luck. I have been searching for 8 hours already... lol, I also installed the SAMSUNG USB drivers for Mobile Phones and ran the adb setup 1.4.2. I need help so I can transfer my media files to my phone. The phone no longer gives the option to set as MTP in the notification area. Sorry, if I am being confusing. Thank you for your assistance. Take care.
what version of windows 8.1 do you have.
It just says Windows 8.1
Did you try a different cable? Is the phone detected on a different computer?

Sorry buddy your reply was not clear enough for me.
1. When you connect your phone to another computer was it only charging or were you able to see MTP.
2. what ROM and kernel are you on currently.
3. Try if you can see your device as adb device using TWRp.

Do you have synapse installed on your phone? If not download it from the play store. Open synapse and go to "misc" tab and see if the "usb fast charge" is enabled or disabled.
If it says enabled then disable it, try connecting your phone to PC again.

Ok let's see, connect your phone to pc boot to twrp go to advanced>adb side load> swipe to sideload.
Open cmd move to SDK directory and enter "adb devices", if you can see your device there your drivers are fine.
Let me know.

It just says list any devices.
But I don't see my A0001 listed in the cmd.
I need the drivers installed but Windows 8.1 is giving me a tough time.
First thing I did with my 8.1 9600 build was disable driver signature.
I have 4 USB cables and only 1 of them is a data transfer cable, the rest just charge my phone from the laptop. Took me awhile to figure this out.
Here is the driver information, it looks like it uses a camera driver from the icon.

Hello,
I no longer see my device in the device manger settings. Also in the control panel, it is no longer there too.
I tried plugging in the device into other USB ports as well, the computer is only giving charge and not reading the 1+.

Hi,
I do not have other versions of Windows 8.1.
I remember that I uninstalled some bloatware after setting up the new PC. But I do not remember everything I uninstalled.. :crying:
The computer I bought was this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K0K9O3E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Are you using stock OPO's cable? OPO doesn't requires any driver to connect to PC in MTP mode.
