Cloudfone Excite 350g - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

This is a rebranded phone in the Philippines running ICS 4.0.4, has 512mb RAM, 1GHZ core. Does anyone know what the original phone is? I've had a hard time looking for pc drivers, but was able to root it with bin4ry.

I just found out that the phone is a rebranded Mobistar Touch Cream 350.

Rooted the Cloudfone Excite 350g?
Hi mrichiem! I have the same phone but was unable to root it with Bin4ry v17, though I have installed the drivers using Moborobo and also tried with Super OneClick. What process have you made to root it? O_O I tried taking it to safe mode, but still the permission is still denied. I am searching ways to root it but since it was just released last December, I guess the company is suppressing the growth of tutorials of rooting their models. But I guess the company is expecting users to root it because of it's low internal memory. O_O Thanks.

::ROOT:: Cloudfone Excite 350g
Let me set down here exactly what I did to root my excite 350g. The files you will need are attached, but you will have to search and download Moborobo. I had to research the proper way to install the drivers as my first attempt ended up soft-bricking my phone. I had to bring it to the service center to have it repaired. Funny thing was my warranty still covered it, even though it was already rooted and I had changed the boring yellow bootanimation.
So, be warned and root at your own risk!!
Extract the files to a folder or your desktop. Turn off your 350g and remove the battery. The next step will take a bit of dexterity and timing. Plug the USB cable to your PC. Press and hold the Volume up button on the phone and quickly insert the battery. The pc will prompt you to install drivers for the device. Just direct the wizard to the MTK65xx Driver folder. Once drivers are installed release the volume up button. Open the MTK Android PC Sync Tool and select Cloudfone Excite 350g in the popup. This will install the MTK Suite Daemon on the phone. Once done, you can close the tool. Next open Moborobo which will automatically install additional drivers for the phone. Once you have done all of this, you may now proceed with rooting. I have included two versions of bin4ry in the file. Try using Root Mtk Android 4.0.4 v15 first. If this does not work, use Root MTK ICS. The phone should now be rooted.

Great!
Haha. As they were saying that the warranty will be void if you have rooted the phone. Great! Thanks! I'll try it. I hope i won't end up bricking my phone. Thanks mrichiem! :good: I will reply as soon as I have tried the method. :highfive:

Please install this app from the Google PlayStore:
Android Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich
It is mainly a Linux Command Prompt Emulator that is used to do some functions such as cp (Copy), ifconfig (Get the IP address of your phone), etc.
After you installed it, please follow the instructions below:
Open the Android Terminal Emulator App.
Type: cd root
If you see something like /system/bin/sh: cd: /root - Permission denied, you are not yet rooted. And maybe that is the reason why the SuperUser app was not installed.
Are you rooting the your CM Flare? I guess this trick works only for Cloudfone350g.

Sir, exactly how many seconds does it take for you to plug the phone via usb then hold the volume up and insert the battery?? i cannot seem to get it right. i've tried a dozen times already and i still can't get it.

Replying to all
HI ALL!
At first I was having difficulty with this method trying this on Windows 7. But I switched to Windows XP in order to see if there would be difference. Use Windows XP instead because I have successfully rooted my phone with that.
I just rooted my phone now, so it took me a long time to reply. It is because I tried to see if someone would verify the trick and to give further instructions to it. But then, it seems no one is willing to share. XD
So here is the reason for each step of the trick.
1. Insert the USB Cable (take note, the USB cable to the PC not to the Phone), insert the battery, then hold Volume UP. This would only take less than 10 seconds. It's aim is to force the PC to detect the MTK Preloader so that you can install it the drivers for it.
2. Run MTK Android PC Sync Tool and let it install the MTK driver for your phone. The aim is to install the "debug mode MTK driver" into your Phone so that the Root by Bin4ry would be able to copy files into your Phone's internal memory and run commands.
3. Lastly, Open moborobo and let it install the Moborobo Suite Daemon into your device. The aim is just like the #2. To add drivers that will support the rooting.
Root it with Root Mtk Android 4.0.4 v15.
I have added some screenshots as a proof Hit thanks for me and mrichiem if you have succeed!

Backup rom
Please backup rom for me, i need rom!!

I also had the same problem as I has already rooted my Excite 350g before backing up the ROM. So I had to search the net to look for a way to restore my phone in case something went wrong. And indeed, something went wrong. I ended up flashing the original Mobiistar firmware and discovered something interesting. The original camera resolution of the device is 3MP, which is what I have now. And after uninstalling the stock Vietnamese files, I ended up with 160MB of free internal memory. The site is in Tieng Viet, so use Chrome to translate the page as it loads and depend more on the screenshots than the actual instructions. As usual, flashing MTK ROMs work best on PCs running Windows XP.

Posting benchmark results before and after flashing the stock Mobiistar ROM.

[Q] Noob rooting question [G2x]

Hey guys, I know I'm a noob and I apologize in advance if this question has been answered.
I'm trying to root my G2x with SuperOneClick. I have a Mac and I'm running VMware with Windows 7. I'm following the directions on this page (starting in debug mode, drivers installed):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
and it gets hung up on step 6. I read a little more and turned my debug mode off and on, and then the process completes. It looks like it completes step 7, but then when it is "Remounting /system with read/write access"...it says "/mount: operation not permitted. FAILED"
Also----I have tried the other method with CWM but windows 7 does not give me the option to install the drivers for the APX mode (when I go to the device properties, install driver is disabled)
I really just want to root my phone the easiest way possible. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! (especially if it can get me rooted with SOC). Thanks!

Then don't mess with super one click. Just flash clockwork mod recovery and then flash the root.zip.

As far as running SuperOneClick on my Mac. I installed Mono and figured out how to open it with Terminal. However, when I click Root, it says:
"Automatic version check failed. Is your OS version 2.0 or higher?"

Then when I click Yes, it gives me this result and fails:
I tried to follow all the instructions, but I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to Terminal. I'm not so sure how to do these steps (in particular, installing the libraries to get ADB working and installing WinForms...were these done automatically by running the Mono installer?

That's my issue with SuperOneClick.
With ClockWorkMod, I have a different problem. First, can it be done on a Mac without running Windows? If not, I have tried running it on my Windows 7 VMware build, and it will not allow me to install the drivers. When I boot my phone in APX mode, I right click on the device and get to device properties, it has install driver disabled (greyed-out) and I don't know what to do.
Again, thanks for the advice. I know I'm a noob but I really appreciate your help guys!!!

Thanks. I found this as the "Mac thread"...is it what I should be looking at?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8699742&postcount=537
I'm having a little trouble with the instructions. Namely, when I'm entering
apt-get install lib32ncurses5
apt-get install lib32stdc++
apt-get install libmono-winforms2.0-cil
Terminal says they can't be found, and I can't find these in the downloaded SOC directory either. I'm thinking this is the problem because it keeps asking me if I'm using version 2.0. Am I doing something wrong?
______
Also, I know you said not to use VM, but I don't have a PC so I'm trying everything I can think of. Here is the result when I'm running SOC on my VM.
To get to this point, it actually stops on Step 5/6 and goes unresponsive. At that point, the only thing I have done to make it move was to toggle USB debugging off and on (I've left it on that step for 20-30 minutes and nothing happens if I don't toggle it).
Then it says failed. I'm hoping by reading the results you might be able to figure out what's going on?
______
One more question---is there anyway to do CWM on the Mac? I have only found instructions for the PC on the forums. Maybe I'm missing it. I have noticed on the CWM instructions it says:
"Install APX Windows driver from APX folder.
(Windows x86 and x64 O/S Drivers):
****If you are running VmWare kill it.****"
I don't understand what it is asking me to kill.
Again, thanks a lot for your time and consideration. I really appreciate it, and if I didn't have a dropbox account I would definitely sign up with your referral. Hope you're having a nice weekend.
Food you check the sticky in the dev section? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099281
Thanks everyone!!!! What ended up working was this:
Flashing CWM with a Linux Virtualbox (after updating the CWM files that were existing already in the Virtualbox).
Then I downloaded the root and put it on my SD card, and rooted via CWM on my G2X. Finally after too many hours for something so "simple" I am finished. Thank you everyone who gave their input!! It was very helpful. I hope that someday I can return the favor!

Should work for:
Gogear Connect 3 8gb SA3CNT08
Gogear Connect 3 16gb SA3CNT16 (not tested. may need to edit drivers with proper device ids)
Now there are Pre-Rooted custom roms. look at the bottom of the post for a link to the guide.
this is 32 bit only at the moment
on the official Phillips support forum they stated that the developers wouldn't give out the adb drivers, so i used the method found on hikboys thread to make my own.
Now its an actual guide!
1. Put your Connect 3 into "Debug Mode"
a. From the home screen, press the Menu button below the screen.
b. Tap the Settings option.
c. Choose Applications.
d. Select Development.
e. Check the box for USB Debugging to turn it on.
2. Plug in The USB cable
3. After the drivers install, uninstall them in the device manager
4. refresh the drivers and you will see device that says go gear connect
5. install the ADB driver, linked at the bottom of the page, for the go gear connect in the device manager
6. download the newest copy of super one-click from here
7. open super one-click and change the exploit drop down menu to "zergRush"
8. click on the root button and let it do its thing.
9. click OK on the popup to install busybox.
10. after that it may ask you to verify root, allow it to
11. you are now rooted. do a happy dance.
I Have Figured out how to unbrick and flash this device if you have Messed it up while having root privileges. this method can also be used to install custom roms once some are made. if people need the repair/flash method or wanna work on roms let me know in the comments and i will post the files and guides needed for it.
this guide is by mateo1212
Now there are pre-rooted custom roms check out the guide Here
just figured out updating definantly removes the root but you can use the same method to re root.
processor information for the curious=
800mhz arm v7 Cortex A8
Freescale i.MX51 EVK board
very awesome! i just got this for my son for xmas, root will be awesome. so much bloat on this thing.
going to try rooting now. Thanks again.
**edit** i gave this a try and it worked flawlessly. Very happy to be able to remove all of the bloat that comes with this device.
How do I upgrade driver to adb interface? I've rooted other devices and never saw this instruction before. Thanks
I got it rooted. Thanks so much
What I did is uninstall the original driver that installs when you connect the device. After you uninstall, reconnect it to your pc, use the drivers here to allow for adb.

hey. im glad my post is helping you guys. i have some thing i would like input on.
1. im in the process of working on a custom rom for this device, should i continue?
let me know. thanks
also if people with the 16gb version can give me there device ids i can make custom adb drivers for your devices also, because this method will work for your devices
Im actually thinking about purchasing this for myself and was a little skeptical until i saw it can be rooted..whats ur opinions on this device? is it worth it? im one click away from ordering. And id definately be interested in custom roms for this.
this is a pretty cool little device. the only thing i have a problem with is the screen size. its a little small for my fat fingers but in the end you get used to it pretty quick. there is a lot of bloatware on it also but after you root you can get titanium backup and remove alot of it. i personally love the songbird music program they have installed. it is soooo much better than the stock music player. some apps dont show up in market but you can always sideload them(downloading the apks to the pc and copying them over to the sdcard then using a file explorer to install them). in all i think if you dont mind the smaller screen it will be a good buy after you root it.
Yea the screen size is what I'm really worried about I've gotten used to the 4inch screen on my phone...I'm torn between this and the galaxy 4.0
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
yea my gf is going to be getting the galaxy player 4.0 around income tax time. she does not like the fact that my mp3 player does not have a camera..lol from what i have seen the galaxy player 4.0 is pretty easily rooted but there isn't any custom firmware for the us version i have only found custom roms for the uk and korean versions.
right now im working on making a rom thats as close to stock AOSP as i can get that includes root and some other helpful software.
im also going to make a custom themed rom with the Espier Launcher as the default launcher and im going to make it clone ipod as much as possible.
the processor is the freescale imx515 so im going to work on compiling my own custom rom from scratch as the hardware is similar to the evaluation board kit. but thats down the road. the first few roms will be based off of the stock rom
i expect my first rom to be out tonight or tomorow during the day
Drivers
When i uninstall drivers, I'm not able to install the new ABD drivers yet, when i uninstall the drivers, the device goes away. When i scan for changes, it installs the stock one, when ii try to update drivers, it says drivers up to date.... any help please.... Thanks
Windows 7 x64 OS
well first off. according to your post you are running windows 7 x64 and this is only for windows 7 x86. to get it working in x64 i need to finish the drivers and then i dont know if you will need to deal with driver signing issues.
if you are doing it in windows x86 make sure to delete the driver that shows up under "universal serial bus controllers" section it will show up as "USB Mass Storage Device" all you have to do is un plug it and plug it back in to figure out whitch one it is. but i repeat if you are running x64 THIS WILL NOT WORK
Fear not though i will soon be posting a few custom roms that are already rooted.
i have 5 in progress now
1 thru 3 are done i just need to gather up the files and write up the guide
1.the stock rom that comes with the device except its rooted and has a few extra utilitys
2.the stock rom that comes with the device except it is stripped of the bloatware and it is rooted and has a few extra utilitys
3.A close to AOSP rom, or atleast the best i can get, with root and a file browser and only the radio app from the normal rom (even has stock android boot screen)
4. A ROM that makes this device loosely imitate the iPod touch
5. totally themed ROM using launcher pro as the default launcher and it will keep the songbird app for music like the two stock ROMs. it will also have root
Ordered one last night now waiting for it to get here...

There aren’t many useful tutorials on how to root Motorola Fire XT around. After buying the device, I had to go through a lot of mixed guides, tutorials, and instructions to finally root my Motorola Fire XT. In this tutorial, I’ll describe the simplest procedure for rooting the Motorola Fire XT 530/531.
Steps:
Download this rooting package. (Contains a patch for Motorola Fire XT, SuperOneClick v2.3.3 and SUTLR_v1.8.2)
Extract each .zip inside it.
Install SUTLR. The supplied setup file installs on both x64 and x86 systems.
Open SUT LR. Click on ‘Next’. Select the file FXX_PR3_NV.xml image file inside the “Patch Motorola Fire XT” folder.
On your phone, go to settings > applications. Check allow installation of apps from unknown sources. Then go to settings > developement. Check USB Debugging, and Stay Awake (Optional).
Connect your phone to PC. Don’t choose anything on the phone. DON’T EVER select mass-storage.
Flash the image file (.xml) on your phone by clicking ‘next’.
Your phone will restart several times and this process won’t take much time.
When your phone is back online, you can perform a restart if you wish.
Go to the SuperOneClick folder and open it. Click on ‘Root’, and within a minute, you’re done!
Enjoy your rooted Motorola Fire XT!
It takes less than 5 minutes to root it. Tested and safe procedure. However, I hold no responsibility if you do anything wrong during the patching and make your phone die.
You’ll see the ‘SuperUser’ app when you press the launcher button. Let me know if you have any questions at all regarding this tutorial.

Hello.
Sorry, i'm not speak english.
To ensure success, we must necessarily use a PC with Windows XP x86.
You have to install the programs and drivers (Motorola Device Manager v2.3.4), and restart the PC:
Code:
w w w . motorola.com/Support/ES-ES/Support-Home/Software-and-Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
It is then, when you can start the process root.
To me it has worked with three terminals of Vodafone Spain.

This method works & I rooted my phone. Motorola Fire XT was uncrackable for a long time.
Be careful not to move essential programs such as Contacts , Google Framework services to the SD card using Link2SD. I bricked my phone doing it.

[Q] ADB not recognizing phone on USB when its booted android, fine in recovery

Hey everyone, basically just what the title says. I plug it into the computer via USB, and ADB will not see the device when it's booted into Android. However when I boot it into recovery, it sees it fine.
I'm running Cyanogen 9 for a rom and TWRP for recovery.
Booted into android:
C:\Users\Michael>adb devices
List of devices attached
Booted into recovery:
C:\Users\Michael>adb devices
List of devices attached
b3fe68e1 recovery
I've tried installing drivers, deleting drivers, reinstalling drivers, rebooting, countless times now. Samsung's own software Kies won't even recognize the phone.
I am able to use ADB over wifi with ADB Wireless.
C:\Users\Michael>adb devices
List of devices attached
10.0.0.99:5555 device
Oh, and I can turn on USB Storage and access the filesystem with no problems.. so that works fine.
Am I going crazy or has someone else had this same problem? Thanks everyone.
Sorry for the silly question but have you enabled it in settings? That may or may not help you:thumbup:

I should have posted that in my original thread.. but yes I have it enabled. I tried having ADB over network enabled just to see if it would help.. but it did't.
Is "USB Debugging" in the phone (inside Android) checked ? check this option and see..
PS:sorry if it is enabled ... ROM problem ? did adb work on stock ROM ?
Yep it is enabled. It did not work with the stock rom either and the only reason I know that is because my wife just got the same phone yesterday and I noticed it wasn't working while trying to root it.
Start all over again ...
Uninstall all drivers for the device and kies..
Install adb and USB driver for the phone and try again ...
You seem to have a software problem (a driver issue) somewhere around your PC (are you on Mac or Windows ?)

try on another comp and c what happens, 2 phones cant be both screwed up so it must b comp
Yeah I agree it must be something to do with Windows. I will try installing the drivers and such on a computer at work on Monday and see what gives.
In the mean time I uninstalled everything and rebooted. Then I downloaded the drivers from Samsung's website, from here:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...27_GS_II_Skyrocket_USB_Driver_v1_3_2200_0.exe
I also read this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415051
and the #2 article points to: ATT_i777_GS2_USB_Drivers.zip
So I tried installing that too. Still nothing.
I took a couple screenshots during the process, maybe it will raise a red flag to one of you guys because I certainly can't figure this out.
When I plug in my phone, the "Android" device is what comes and goes. I've tried updating the drivers for that and pointing them to the Samsung drivers directory, just says it can't find them.
I admit to still being new around the whole android development thing, but with Windows I'm pretty proficient, I just can't figure out what I'm missing.
Just out of curiosity, why do you need to access adb with the phone not in recovery? You can do push pull commands through adb even if phone is in recovery

If super user is installed yes you can pull or push even in Android...But if not rooted it's only done while in recovery...

k, but r u not installing any custom roms, as far as i know they are all prerooted, or u just need root todo ur own stuff
Personally I just like being able to have access to use adb. I can still use it over wifi using "adb wireless" so it's not a complete loss -- but for some reason the fact that the usb isn't working is just bothering me.
I'm not going to spend much more time fighting with it.. I'm sure it has something to do with the windows and the drivers.

Hey I know this thread is a week old or so, but I just wanted to let you know I found the problem. The problem was actually the Cyanogenmod ROM I had installed.
I was having a few other unrelated problems with that rom so I decided to try SkyICS, and low and behold.. I can now access adb via usb.
Just wanted to put the solution forward and maybe it will shine light on someone else's problem.
Thanks again to everyone for all their help.

Not exactly a solution though, in that Sky ICS is still a TW-based ROM (as in, based off the stock ROM) and not an AOSP-based ROM like CM9 or AOKP.
I also had this issue. The problem was in fact a Windows driver issue though, even though I had installed them already. When I went to Device Manager it would always show up as generic "Android" device with no driver under "other devices". I right-clicked it, Selected "Update device drivers" and then I believe there was an option to select drive from existing installed drivers. I'm on my linux partition right now so I forget what the precise option dialogue was, but it was a separate option from the "Browse my computer" option. From there it opened up a long list and I scrolled down and found one of the Samsung entries listed. I believe it was Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (there were others like SAMSUNG in all caps, etc.). I then selected the driver from the list within that Samsung group and ADB worked again.

How to root Teclast P80 3G K3H7 - Tablet - Android 5.1.1 - Intel SoFIA Atom X3

This is only for Teclast P80 3G K3H7 it won't work on Teclast P80 mediatek or other models check your model on the backside of the cover.
First, download the zip files provided below and unzip them.
Ok listen carefully, since you're rooting Android you should be familiar with adb commands and drivers.
Follow the instructions carefully steps by steps if you do not want your device to be bricked. I am not responsible for bricked device.
1 - Power off your device.
2 - Install the factory tool and make sure to create a desktop icon.
3 - Open the factory tool.
4 - Now here's the important part.
5 - Click on firmware tab and load the philz_recovery.fls then click run.
6 - Now connect your device via usb cable and don't press anything.
*** It should show green color if it shows red color then repeat the steps above.***
7 - After that click on stop then close the factory tool.
8 - Now to go to philz recovery you need to hold down the power button and volume up button at the same time.
9 - When you see Philz recovery go to Install zip then choose Install zip from the sideload. This is the only way to root this device so do not choose sdcard it won't work choose sideload.
I know recovery is laggy and touch doesn't work but this is the only way to root this device so you will have to do it with volume buttons. I tried to port TWRP but the touch doesn't work so I ported Philz recovery since Philz work with volume buttons.
Now to install SuperSu I used SuperSu 2.46 here it's how you do it via sideload. Connect your device to a pc ***make sure it's in adb sideload mode***
Code:
adb devices
adb sideload UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Then hit enter and Just wait until you see installation complete in Philz recovery *** you should be patient since the recovery is laggy*** after that remove usb cable and power off the device by holding down the power button until it's off
NO DO NOT POWER ON YOUR DEVICE IT WILL NOT BOOT UP SO FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO BOOT YOUR DEVICE WITH ROOT ACCESS

Now open up factory tool again MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IT'S POWERED OFF then reflash the STOCK boot.fls and recovery.fls back. Flash the recovery.fls first then disconnect the usb cable AND POWER OFF AGAIN BY HOLDING DOWN THE POWER BUTTON then flash the boot.fls. Make sure your device it's powered off each time you flash
Now you can boot up your device and see if SuperSu is installed. If you have any trouble ask them below

If it's Intel X3-C3230 based cpu then use this tutorial. Please use the Factory tools attached above to root this tablet it will automatically install the drivers. If bootloop pls go to this site http://www.teclast.com/en/firmware/ and put your model number (K3H5) and download the rom then flash recovery.fls and boot.fls only AND ONCE AGAIN ONLY USE FACTORY TOOLS TO FLASH. If you have problem post this here I will help you

Nothing happens during firmware
I've loaded the philz thing into the firmware and clicked run, and then connected the tablet (by usb) to my laptop, but nothing happens, at all. So, the tablet is supposed to be off? Could I keep the tablet in fastboot mode during this?
Thanks
Hi all.
Anyone have firmware for Teclast P80 3G (K3H6)? Please share? Bricked with update. All links dead.
K3H5
Hey, @kaiz16 Could you make philz port for the K3H5 by any chance? I tried with the K3H7 and K3H6 recoveries but it does not boot into recovery at all.
