Hi there, I just wanted to know if anyone else has problems/reduced sensitivity on the corners/edges of the a700. Using opera browser for example I am not able to press the O menu on upper left corner. Anyone else's having the problem?
Anybody experiencing the same problem? Anyone
I don't see any sensitivity issues with my A700 (after Jelly Bean update) that I don't see on other Android Jelly Bean tablets.
I say that because I have a Nexus 7 (with Jelly Bean 4.1.2) and the screen sensitivity seems about the same.
Is the sensitivity the same across the whole screen? I mean is the tablet the same sensitive to its 4 corners as the rest of the screen? Mine seems to be ok in the middle but very bad at the corners
I can't say I've noticed.

I have the same problem. At least in upper right corner.
I do have the same problem. it's just in the corners.
I heard there is an update for that. RV16RC01, but I'm not sure where to get and how to install it.
Are we all have us roms?
i got the same problem! sometimes i need to touch several times on the top left/right corner to make it take actions. any solution for that???
i am using pawitp's CM10 Nightly 28/10

Same here. No noticeable difference in corners.

I have DE rom and just installed RV16RC01 update. Corners still seem to ignore some touches.
Have the French JB version and having same issues here
A small update went out starting on November 1. It seems to fix this issue.

Can you verify it is the same problem? I uploaded a small video to Youtube to pinpoint it

Same as my a700!
I am using pawitp's CM10 latest nightly. Hope android 4.2.2 can solve the problem??
I do not want to dissapoind you but a recent call to acer, in addition to the uploaded video, they concluded that this is a hardware issue related to a memory chip...
Here is part of the transcript...
Thank you for contacting Acer America. My name is xxxx. My badge number is xxxx. I am happy to assist you.
I understand that the screen of your tablet is not responding to touch properly.
I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will surely help you.
The troubleshooting steps we have taken have not resolved the issue. Therefore, I have determined that this issue is hardware related which requires service to replace a part.
If the unit's internal memory chip is diagnosed to have damage or failure, we will install a replacement memory chip. The same may get formatted in the repair process, hence it is your responsibility to backup all the data from the tablet as we will not be responsible for any data loss.....
Unless something i did not understand right??
Your thoughts?
Can someone post (from those who claim it is perfect) a similar video just to make sure it is not a common issue? I am living in Greece and i have to send the tablet to US in order to get repaired and this is somekind of trouble...

I would not assume that the "memory chip" failure is the reason based on this response; looks like a canned response for when a tech suggests to send in a tablet for repair. Just covering their butts in case they replace the whole tablet, or decide to do a full reset in order to fully test it without your settings mucking things up.
After reading it again it seems to be the case you are referring to. I was wondering it is a common problem the sensitivity issues? Is it a real problem indeed?
Hi at all
Have the same Problem. The courious thing i've read about this issiue in a german Forum, the reason Of that problem is the shielding Of Thema hdmi Port.
Reproduction: put your finger in/on the hdmi port and let him on the Port. Now use the touchscreen without any problem

Hi guys,
I'm using Motorola Milestone XT720 as stated in the title, and it is running on Dexter 2.2 Froyo.
About a month or so ago, my phone keyboard had been giving me problems, the letter 'Q' and '1' on the keyboard are no longer working. Then recently about 3weeks ago, the whole row including of 'Q','W','E','R','T','Y','U','I','O','P' is not working as normal. Now the column of 'Q' is not working as normal. Maybe i should say the screen. But by giving the phone a little knock on the screen it will allow me to type properly for awhile but the problem will return after awhile.
I read up on posts and some say it is the software problems.
What could be the cause? Is there any solution to it? Can you guys help me out please! Thanks in advance.

There is a post in here for a new digitizer replacement, not sure if that would fix it, but not if it is a software issue. what kind of warranty do you have? my provider gives us 2 years. I'm not qualified to answer your question just my 2 cents. Good luck bud.

Try using a different keyboard and if qwerty isn't working with a different keyboard, it is probably a hardware issue. My guess is that the touch screen isn't calibrated. A different kb will tell you if it is hardware or software.
sounds like a hardware problem... why dont you email the service center and ask how much it costs to replace the screen, and then go for it if the price is reasonable? my phone's still under warranty and the guys at the service centre are quite good. went there to fix my lcd and they even helped me replace some other stuff like the metal frame and the digitizer...
I dropped my phone for the second time and now bottom touch sensitive keys aren't working. When I press those keys it registers input as bottom part of touch screen. I can't go back, press menu key or home key. Anyone knows how to solve this problem?
I have exactly the same problem.
It seems that display is ok but i cant type letters like:
t, y, f, g, h, c, v, b.
Also, it's similar area when i want to hang up, i can't press red button. However, other applications it seems to work ok.
Did you tried to put phone keyboard in landscape and have you same letters that doesn't work ?
You can download android system info from market and use multitouch test. With one finger you move in all screen area and you see if the circle is on all area. That will tell you if it's hardware or software.

If you have same area not working with keyboard in landscape and with android system info app it's may be hardware related.
You can try to flash back stock sbf to see if it's the same, with a nandroid backup you can restore all after and if you send your phone into warranty you have to flash back your stock sbf.

Hi Everyone,
I seem to have random clicks on my screen every couple of minutes. I sent my tablet to ASUS for repair and got it back today, hoping the problem would be solved, however it seems that the problem still exists.
This problem gets annoying when watching a video on YouTube or any video player. Plus when using the on screen keyboard, sometime random letters will be pressed.
I would like to know, is there any way I can fix this and is anyone else having a problem similar to mine?
From what I've read, the majority of Infinity devices have this issue. It has to do with the adhesive used to secure the screen. My device has this problem as well but I've learned to ignore it because the click is barely audible and does not affect anything else on or in my Infinity.

I had this problem on my first unit to the point of making the tablet unusable. It was opening random apps and pressing random keys non-stop. I wasn't aware that this was a wide-spread problem.

I know, but sometime its just annoying. I sent it back to ASUS, hoping they might do something about it. Its worse when I browser the play store. Cause it will never let me read app details, youtube video might open, images or sometimes app permissions. Plus this issue is only happening on the right half of my screen.

I think Joe miss read the OPs question. Joe I believe was talking about when you press down on the bezel how it will creek and click which seems to affect quite a few xda members.
I for one have yet to experience random apps opening/tablet being posesed. What has been done other then rma? I woukd suggest the op apply a factory reset an start feom scratch.

Factory reset has been done like 3 times. ASUS says, it might be a problem with the digitizer. Hence had to RMA again. During the first RMA, all they did was a factory reset and my tablet was away for 3 weeks (what a waste of time).
Is anyone else having terrible, and I mean terrible performance all around with their TF300s? Mine is barely functional, much less efficient and stress free. All of my internet browsers are always force closing after freezes and crashes. I have to go through several force closes even for a google search to get done. My launchers (Nova and Apex) are always freaking out. Random page swipes, random apps getting opened, random widgets getting opened. Whenever I try typing anything, its always massively behind me, either having each key press appear individually at a slow rate, or just appearing in chunks at an equally slow rate.
It was the same on the stock ROM, and not much has changed since I switched to this Blackbean 6 ROM. I have tried overclocking, but this exacerbates the problem, causing random touches and eventually a complete crash and reboot. I am thinking my hardware my be faulty or something. Is there anyway to check this? I'm pretty sure my warrantee is out the window now since I unlocked the device thinking the stock ROM was the problem.
I got this around this past Christmas, and I am really kicking myself for not picking up a Nexus 7 instead with how this TF300 has performed for me so far. I have pretty much defaulted to my phone for 99% of uses because my TF300 is so unusable, and in fact the only reason I am posting from my TF300 now is because my phone is dead. I can't be the only one with these issues right? I am trying my hardest to like this device, but I just can't do it.

Try using CleanRom Inheritance. Custom ROMs are supposed to drastically increase performance.

I RMA'd my tablet for ghost touches, and ASUS North America fixed under warranty even with the thing being unlocked. If you're going to go that route, you need to be pretty certain that it's a hardware issue, though. And definitely flash back to a stock ROM and check to be sure you can reproduce the issue, and include clear instructions to be sure they don't blame it on user error.
I ran BB6 for a while as my daily driver and never had much trouble. Over time, I started dropping WIFI "on wake up", so I switched back to a stock-based ROM (CleanROM Inheritance, as recommended above). No issues since.
Good luck.
+1 for Clean ROM.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'll be checking out that CleanRom you guys suggested, and report back here with initial performance and performance after a day or so and see if it fixes the issue. Oddly enough, the XDA app is one of the only things I can use on the device with almost no trouble.

Would you happen to know anything about their warranty policies? I got mine off NewEgg but don't remember seeing anything about a warranty at all.

I got mine from Amazon, but I don't think that made a difference. I think the initial warranty is one year hardware and software, and that unlocking voids the software warranty.

Is it really just the software warranty it voids? I haven't done it yet but I have read the legal mumbo-jumbo and it basically says that once you unlock it the device is no longer in the original manufacture condition and therefore not covered by the warranty. I don't think it specifies hardware vs software. There are some people that are able to get their device fixed under warranty despite being unlocked but I don't think they have to.

I will return my unit today, NewEgg gave me the return shipping label. I recorded a video on how to replicate the issue and even write the steps to replicate to be sure. I hope this will replace it even if it's unlocked.
EDIT:
I received an email regarding my RMA from NewEgg:
Your RMA return has been posted, which means that the contents have been verified and your return has been approved.
If your RMA was processed for a replacement, a replacement order will be created for you within the next 1-2 business days.
Actually I just want to avoid inconvenience that ghost touches will get worst cause I only got the ghost touches when from screen off state and you hold the screen then pressing power button you will have ghost touches holding the upper right corner of screen which will prevent you from unlocking the device and can easily resolve by power off then on the screen again. Well I hope I get a bnew without any ghost touches problem coz I miss playing games especially I deleted the OS of my kindle..
Hi everyone! I have been having a problem with my tf700. It randomly registers touches in the middle part of the right end of the screen. Sometimes it registers one continuous touch, a lot of small touches, or sometimes it works fine. I am currently unlocked and running CromiX 4.4 but this problem started like two months ago after i unlocked the device. The "phantom touches" are annoying to the point of making the device unusable randomly as they mess with whatever i am doing with the tablet. If i put it to sleep and then wake it up the problem desapears for a short while (or for a random interval for that matter).
I wanted to know if there is a way to disable just one section of the touch screen, so these touches dont affect me. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
Try and search the forum. One other guy recently mentioned this issue and had to send it back to ASUS. must be a hardware defect
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
Thanks, yeah it seems to be a hardware problem. I didn't want to get to ASUS because they will probably charge me a full new touchscreen or something like that, so i thought that maybe there was a way via software to disable just the little section that gives problem in the screen.
Sound like an issue that needs fixing rather than a work around if you haven't dropped it I think it would come up as a defect. So maybe wouldnt need to pay

I will take it to ASUS then. I have not dropped it but my warranty was voided when i unlocked it, so i will have to pay. I live in russia right now, but bought the tablet in the states, hope that is not a problem. Thanks for you help.
Just to be sure, I'd try and reflash an old version of CROMI (3.4.7) -- if the problem goes away, it is a funky incompatibility. If not, you have a hardware issue, but that should fall under warranty.
Hey all,
My TF300T has been unusably slow and prone to crashes for quite some time now, and I was hoping to get some help. The amount that it reboots depends on which ROM I'm using, and the worst offender was the ASUS ROMs (all versions). I've got Omni installed right now, and I've also had Cyanogenmod installed, both ran incredibly slowly. It seems like no matter what I do, the tablet is still almost completely unusable. I did send it to ASUS once, hoping they would find an issue with the hardware, but they sent it back to me and said there wasn't an issue.
From what I've heard, this tablet should still be performing fairly well, so is it possible that the hardware has failed on this one? My friend has the same model with no issues to speak of. The only difference between us is that I have a memory card installed, but I don't think that should affect it.
Any ideas on how I can diagnose the issue, or get the tablet to stop lagging horribly and crashing?
Thanks!
