Hi Everyone,
I seem to have random clicks on my screen every couple of minutes. I sent my tablet to ASUS for repair and got it back today, hoping the problem would be solved, however it seems that the problem still exists.
This problem gets annoying when watching a video on YouTube or any video player. Plus when using the on screen keyboard, sometime random letters will be pressed.
I would like to know, is there any way I can fix this and is anyone else having a problem similar to mine?
From what I've read, the majority of Infinity devices have this issue. It has to do with the adhesive used to secure the screen. My device has this problem as well but I've learned to ignore it because the click is barely audible and does not affect anything else on or in my Infinity.

I had this problem on my first unit to the point of making the tablet unusable. It was opening random apps and pressing random keys non-stop. I wasn't aware that this was a wide-spread problem.

I know, but sometime its just annoying. I sent it back to ASUS, hoping they might do something about it. Its worse when I browser the play store. Cause it will never let me read app details, youtube video might open, images or sometimes app permissions. Plus this issue is only happening on the right half of my screen.

I think Joe miss read the OPs question. Joe I believe was talking about when you press down on the bezel how it will creek and click which seems to affect quite a few xda members.
I for one have yet to experience random apps opening/tablet being posesed. What has been done other then rma? I woukd suggest the op apply a factory reset an start feom scratch.

Factory reset has been done like 3 times. ASUS says, it might be a problem with the digitizer. Hence had to RMA again. During the first RMA, all they did was a factory reset and my tablet was away for 3 weeks (what a waste of time).

I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue..
When I'm on the homescreen and not even holding the phone, it will mysteriously slide to the screen on the far left on its own?
Anyone else having similar behavior?

Not sure if it's the same thing but it was reported in G2 forums many times. What happens is the light will hit trackpad at just the right angle for it to register and move. If it happens again, try moving the phone to a different spot and observe it. If you see the same behaviour - you may have a defective unit and may need to exchange it.
Good luck.
When exiting the stock Froyo Car Dock (I prefer this to the T-Mo version), my phone will almost always jump directly into the 'Expose' window mode of the five home screens, without hitting the home button or touching the trackpad. It's probably not related, but it does appear to be a strange glitch.
As for your exact problem: I haven't seen it happen with mine yet. Good luck.
It does sometimes to me. I thought im trippin.

Ah that very well could be the issue! I'll mess with it over the next few days and try to narrow it down. It never occurred to me the trackpad light sensor could be throwing it off..Thanks alot!

lol I thought I was too..it was driving me insane.i kept looking down like wtf, i know I was on home..
I have a strange problem. Occasionally my phone will refuse to let me type a letter. It generally happens towards the bottom right of the screen. However that isn't always the case. For instance I wanted to press the letter N today but it refused to let me. It would press every key around it but it wouldn't press N unless I tried multiple times. I have a screen protector on if that makes a difference. It really is annoying. Is my screen possibly defective?

Sometimes this happens to me when gunk and dirt build up on the screen. Usually I just take my shirt and wipe it off real good and it works like it's supposed to.

Alrighty. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Could also be something under the screen protector messing with the capacitance. Maybe a small air bubble that gets pushed out of the way when you repeatedly try tapping there. Just a thought. If it's not a hassle, I would try using the thing for a day sans protector and see if the issue replicates. If anything. it will eliminate the screen protector as a possible source of the problem. I'd gather, if you aren't rooted and running a custom ROM and the problem still exists in the absence of a screen protector, it is a manufacturing defect.

I am having the same problem and have had little gremlins like this come up. My phone is rooted by the way so if it is a manufacturing defect then I guess I am up the creek (voided warranty). It is annoying to say the least my t, y g h and v and b keys react as if they were not on the keyboard at all. Luckily the word recognition helps out but its frustrating. I have had more problems with this android phone than I ever had with my windows HD2. I miss that phone...no worries ever.
I would really advise you to exchange your phone for a new one if you are having problems with the touch screen this early on. Manufacturing defects like that don't go away and can only get worse. You can still return/exchange your phone if you are rooted, you just have to return it to stock before you do so.
This has been happening to myself and several others, and there have been a few touchscreen problem-related threads on here and other forums. the letters I can't type are fairly random but it usually seems to be t, s, and some vowels. it's either a software or hardware issue, since it is completely random and the problem fixes itself when you begin typing another word.
you can also try pressing the letter with your whole finger instead of the tip. it seems to work more often than pressing the letter 20 times before you flip out.
Anyone with this problem, is the touchscreen ever not responsive with anything else?

I thought about exchanging it but after reading all the issues other people have with replacement phones (or their first, even), I'm not sure I want to take the chance especially if it's a software issue.
Happens to me to, I am rooted and running a custom rom. It's a problem with the HTC keyboard. If it happens just hit the back button then bring the keyboard back up. Or install a new keyboard from the market like Better Keyboard.

Not true, had this problem on my Fascinate before the Thunderbolt.
Something stupid to check, do you have wavelauncher installed? That was giving me fits for awhile before i figured it out. anything by the bottom of the screen just wouldnt work.
Hi guys I have had my transformer for almost a year now and since the first time I opened it, I am experiencing my tf101's touch screen not responding. Sometimes even if I'm not pressing anything, my transformer would act as if there are multiple touches on the screen? I would have to turn the screen off and back on I'm just curious if everyone is experiencing this, or should I have my tf101 serviced.
I don't know if it's hardware or software, if you havn't factory reset in a long time you could try that. If that doesn't fix then you may have to get serviced.. Never had a problem with my screen. (but I wipe almost every week and flash roms/kernels constantly xP)
Have you tried this? Hope it helps.

Thanks! Ill try this app.
Looks like I have been having nothing but problems lately.
First I was having the problem with the screen going all black (not off) where I had to press power button twice to get back to work.
Now I am getting this random locking of touch input until I press the power button twice.
Here is a video I just recorded of the monitor locking up and not reacting to touch input correctly.
Should I return this to Samsung? I don't have many days left on this refurbished warranty? Or could this just be a an OS glitch?
I did load a custom rom on here: Android Revolution HD 5.1
Should I just flash back to stock and root it and see if the problems occur?
Is anyone getting these?

No idea what's causing that but if you were going to take it back under warranty you would have to be using stock rom not custom anyway. So I would start with that and see if it's the rom causing the issue and if it's not and you've flashed back to stock rom then you may as well take it back under warranty.
Man I recently had this problem when I was tinkering with my note, but a reset fixed my problem. I have heard that this type of thing can happen if you flash the wrong recovery. Not saying thats the case, but more my two cents

Happens to me alot as well and mine aren't even rooted. It's usually when using LectureNotes, but maybe that's because it's the only app I really use the SPen with for longer periods of time. However, for me as for you the solution is just to quickly press the power button once and since it doesn't really appear that often that's fine by me.

@Axel_: Probably you know that already, but I received several reports by LectureNotes' users that the problem you describe does no longer occur after disabling Samsung's `AirView´.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right forum thread, but recently having lots of problem with my N5.
i have a 32GB N5, when I use LTE & Location on the road, it heats up, the screen starts flickering and eventually, gets to a point when I don't see anything, I have to wait for it to cool down, turn off from recovery by guessing and after 15-20-30 mins, it will be back to Normal. Is this an issue with N5 or is it just with mine.
I bought it from Craigslist, so I do not have any warranty info. not sure if I can get it replaced.
I have used many many different ROMs on my N5, it was unlocked & I rooted it. Currently I am running stock rooted with Faux kernel with Gravitybox for customizations.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
Dhaval.
From the way it is described it is way more than just software especially with screen flickering clearly this isn't an issue with every nexus 5 or Google would have addressed it immediately.. I would restore back to complete stock and see if it still does it. Too bad you bought it from some guy off craigslist, he probably knew about the problem and just didn't RMA it.
There is a Q&A forum.
Do you get some weird colored lines sort of like TV static also? Randomly, my phone does this every so often and I'm somewhat worried about it.
It only occurs in apps, on the home screen it doesn't occur.

A stock Nexus 5 should be pretty well protected from over heating. I would recommending restoring the factory firmware to see if it fixes the problem. If it is still over heating then it probably needs a visit to service.

ElementalX kernel might be making it funny. I'll go back to stock kernel first and see.

OP
if i were you, i would download the Google N5 Image from their servers and wipe your device clean
before knowing is for sure its hardware related, i would rule out all signs of software issues first
