RAZR hd and RAZR hd maxx on AT&T - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone that owns either of the Verizon branded phones try the following steps to see if they can get AT&T working? These were taken from the original Droid RAZR forums:
All Verizon ics roms are lock but there a way around that. First be rooted
Then got to build. Plist and change the ro. Telephony default to 7. 7means global phone.
Then go to *#*#4636#*#* and change the radio to wcdma preferred.
That should give u Gsm in tmobile
I would really like to have a Droid RAZR maxx on at&t. I would be willing to give up lte connectivity to have it.

I can't remember where I snagged it. If you just use root explorer you can go through the file system and make those changes. Then pop in a T-Mobile, or att sim and see what you come up with. You may have to let it sit a while before it grabs service.

The other gsm thread says that it may be blocked on the radio firmware. How awesome would it be if a build.prop hack could fix it. I want the maxx so badly, but won't give up my s3 until someone can confirm it working for at&t/tmobile

No good.
Changed build.prop as advised:
Code:

Now I have an angry RAZR MAXX HD, scanning for service continuously. Phone status shows no network type, signal, nada. Angry phone is angry. Rolled back changes.
Good try, but we are not living in the OG Droid era anymore.

We all definitely appreciate the effort though. I may buy one and use it on wifi only until I can figure a hack out. The radios are there, just blocked somehow from North American carriers.

If you were going to buy one, why not go the XT925 from Rogers? It is fully compatible with AT&T's network; the Verizon version as-is can't even get voice connectivity.
Regardless, I will give it another shot, at least not trying to do this at work will give me time to tinker with it more extensively.

The two carriers have the same 3G bands but different LTE band, but the Rogers' RAZR supports both carrier's LTE bands. Something to keep in mind, if you are looking for an international phone for that supports AT&T's 3G/LTE bands, look for a phone that has UMTS 850/1900 for 3G and Band 17 700 MHz LTE.
Be careful not mix Verizon's and AT&T's LTE bands up, because they're both theoretically 700 MHz spectrum, but Verizon's is actually Band 13 while AT&T's is Band 17.

As much as I'm dying to have this phone, I would never pay 799 plus tax to have it. Even the original Droid RAZR maxx is still 739 on there. I'll just check Craigslist in Canada and get someone to ship it.

Anyone use Straight Talk

My contract is about to expire in a few months with ATT. Im trying to decide if I want to keep their service or try Straight Talk or use another GSM SIM. Anyone else use re-fill SIM cards as their primary service? Or should I just stick with ATT.
I've been using it for several months with no problems. 3g & 4G work great.

good hear. I might pickup a sim and give a try for a while. Or a Tmobile one.
I'm in the Houston area and ATT is horrid where i'm at... I talked to some friends that had Tmobile and they raved about the service in the area.
tmobile recently has restructured it's 3g to use the 1900mhz that ATT 3g uses so i'd get 3g in my area even though the inspire doesn't have the tmobile radios for 3g
so I ended up jumping ship to T-mobile prepaid $30 a month 100 min unlimited talk 5gig "4g"
I get better phone service everywhere I've been to compare but data didn't work at all (had the check mark next to the H+ symbol)... after some digging I found I just needed to update the APN info to Tmobile specs... my mother-in-law went to tmobile prepaid the same time I did (I set everything up) and that wasn't the case with her phone.
The hspa speeds are much better then what I got from ATT but i'm at the edge of Houston so if I go to certain areas I drop down to edge.
so in short... if you've been happy with ATT service in your area I'd stick with their towers but if tmobile has better coverage AND has either updated to 1900mhz in your area OR you can live with edge data speeds consider moving to tmobile.
I'm going to stick with tmobile... I'm going to pick up a new phone at some point so I do't have to deal with the limited data locations
one other thing to consider... if you use google voice some carriers don't support changing the voicemail box... it appears t-mobile prepaid is this way... a few people have figured out how to jump though those hoops but it's not easy
Using my inspire on net ten and couldn't be happier

I;ve been with ST for years now, finally got a smartphone (HTC 4g). I get all the same service anyone gets with ATT plans for $45 a month. I think a person would be silly to not get on ST. I know ST caps their "Unlimited" plans, I have never recieved any messages stating I am getting near tht , and I keep FB, Messenger, News Feeds, and weather running all the time, along with being a you tube addict, Watching full length videos (45 min - 2hour shows)........and Hey $45 a month.
ATT coverage, it is what it is.................
Like I said I use my inspire on net10 which is actually exactly the same company as straight talk and tracfone. I have found that using a dual apn setup instead of the single apn straight talk, tracfone, and net10 give you and it has literally doubled my data speeds. If anyone who has an inspire and is with one of these providers you can pm me if you would like to try the settings I use

Thanks for pointing out StraightTalk, have been looking at T-mobile's 30/mo plan but may try them instead.
So its possible to get straight talk without buying a phone outright? Tired of paying $160/ month for 2 phones...

straightalk and net10 are owned by the same parent company so service is probably about the same. I noticed a couple days ago that straightalksim.com only had tmobile sims all of the sudden. walmart online still had both
I have been on straightalk att sim since the nokia e71 sim (before they just offered sims) my brother got two sims from straghttalksim.com and both phones work great. if you get the att sim on att phone calling and text work out of the box. You simply change the apns in settings and data works

be careful about porting numbers with the VMNO's my dad did it several years ago and had nothing but problems, he ended up going back to Verizon dispite the huge cost savings
to the OP... and anyone else looking to take the phone with them... call or chat with ATT (I find the online chat to be far easier) and have them sim unlock the device... it opens up any GSM network... while 3g isn't a sure thing it'll at least make calls and on edge...

in short nothing that YOU can do... at least not with the inspire 4g...
T-mobile has used the 1700 and 2100mhz band for it's 3g service... ATT uses 850 and 1900mhz for it's 3g band
in the last few months Tmobile has reworked it's network to use the 1900mhz for 3g, they have done it in a number of large markets (including my home area in Houston) so I can get 3g/4g hspa+ speeds with the att radio... this is all in preperation for tmobile to open up it's LTE markets
this is me with the inspire on a custom rom running prepaid tmobile...

Tmobile will prob at some point upgrade your market but when is anybody's guess... if you have 3g/4g avl int he area on the tmobile network a new phone is going to be the easiest way...
a Galaxy Nexus GSM or Nexus 4 will give you both the att and tmobile frequencies... or for $200 you can get a new LG optimus l9 from Tmobile that will get the 3g/4g from tmobile...
even in my area I get bounced to 2g/edge a little to frequently so i'm going to pick up a new phone... i'm still debating on exactly what phone I want to get... with LTE right around the corner the nexus 4 is so tempting...

Im actually working on the Tmobile project here in the NYC area. They are using the $6B they got from ATT for the failed merger to upgrade their system wide. The upgrade is going on nationwide and will probably take some time to get going in your area. They always start in the major markets before moving to the small ones. Tmobile upgrade started probably just over a year ago.

Did you have to unlock it? Are you running a custom rom? Or can it use a Straight Talk / Net 10 sim on stock?
use aahk to use the sim unlock feature ? That's what I used to unlock the at&t sim so I can use tmobile...Im in Tuscaloosa, Alabama...not sure if that helped or not....Im just going to switch to AT&T next month, prepaid at&t is actually cheaper than tmobile.....

[Q] Considering Photon Q...for T-mobile?

Okay, so...I've been looking at numerous slider phones, and the Photon Q is the one that's probably the closest to my ideal phone that I've yet seen. I currently have Cricket, but T-Mobile's Value Plans seem to be the best deal for my needs. I know that the Photon Q supports both CDMA and GSM, but can it be unlocked to actually work on T-Mobile's network? It seems T-Mobile requires the 1700 MHz band for their 3G service, but not for their (current) 4G. Would this phone work in 4G areas, at 4G speeds, then?
Also, if I understand correctly, using GSM on the Photon Q isn't as simple as just popping in a SIM card. Apparently, Motorola has opted for a hard-soldered SIM, so if you want to switch to a network that SIM card doesn't support, you have to do some soldering (or get someone else to do so). If this is the case, it's pretty close to a dealbraker for me, though I MIGHT still go for it, if I can definitely find someone who can get it to work with T-Mobile.
Well, you are correct about the hard-soldered SIM.
See this thread about what the hack entails.
Now, to my knowledge - this hack has only been done OUTSIDE of the US. I would think since you're physically putting your SIM in place of the Sprint-specific SIM, that it would work... but I don't think anyone has actually done it yet.
Just be cautious. You seem to have done your homework.
Cool...checking that thread now. If anyone knows if this is possible to do with T-Mobile USA, or if anyone actually HAS done this, PLEASE let me know! T-Mo does have a phone I'd settle for, if this can't be done, and I'd seriously consider it, since it'd be less risky. But if this can be done reliably and without issues, I'd slightly prefer going this route, even if mostly just for the bigger screen.
And for that matter...since I don't already have service with T-Mobile, and I'd be starting NEW service...is there something about the SIM that's soldered on, that makes it unusable for T-Mobile? Wouldn't there be some information I'd be able to get from the built-in SIM that I could tell them, in order to activate THAT SIM with their service?

The build-in SIM is for international roaming....
You would have to put a TMobile SIM in. Make sense?
Yeah...just wasn't sure if it was preprogrammed, and unable to be re-programmed. Anyway, I'm leaning toward the phone that T-Mobile DOES carry, that's almost as good, just not QUITE as big a screen, and just SLIGHTLY lower resolution. But looks to be good enough. (Samsung Galaxy S Relay)
Few notes: On Droid 4 (which has normal microSIM card) other US carriers are SIM locked by the modem software (the rest of World works) - so some risk is there too. Additionally as far as I know, T-Mobile US has mostly 3G on 1700 MHz, while Photon Q supports 850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz - so you'll have trouble with 3G. Also LTE is on 1900 MHz which is emplyoed only by Sprint as I read, so no avail there either on T-Mobile. Additionally, it looks like Photon Q has no EDGE, so you'll enjoy nice 2.5G most of the time, unless you are in the 1900 MHz area for 3G.

Quite the dream crusher. This would have been the perfect phone for me if I were able to just flash it over to T Mobile for service in the US. Humph, guess I'll finally have to go for a fully touch phone (yuck) or just keep the current lame thing I have (Galaxy Indulge on MetroPCS :l ) until I find something remotely better.
Why not try a droid 4,i know there is a way to get that working on gsm carriers.
Im currently using a droid 3 that works on gsm carriers and its pretty good.im running it on att and the only comparable slider on att is the captivate glide.
i would love to be able to use a photon q on att but there does not seem to be an easy way to do it...
Droid 4 has simcard slot for GSM and with some mods,I can use RUIM CDMA. It also has HSDPA and Evdo revB support. Really an all in one phone. but,I heard the GSM won't work on USA. I'm ordering a Photon Q. I hope it's better than my D4. I know I have to mod the hardware to use slot simcard. So,I might pass it and using CDMA only via flashing my own carrier.
I tried a friend's droid 4 a while back and remember not liking it. Thinking now though I may be confusing my experience with another device.
From my understanding I thought you could softmod the phone to GSM but I guess I've been reading wrong the entire time. Don't want to plop down money and say screw it and buy the phone only to get it and put it all the effort to have it not work, then have to boggle through the return process.
sad face.
edit: really wish I could remember my old account... I feel like such a n00b with a lame join date
It looks like that even if there was a SW SIM lock, it's bypassable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542
But the problem with the bands still prevails.
AW: [Q] Considering Photon Q...for T-mobile?
I can't understand why one in US whould go through all that trouble with soldering new sim and frequenzy problems, instead of using the Q with Sprint? Is Sprint network so bad @ US?
If it would be possible to use the Q without soldering in Germany with a german provider i would have changed my contract to this provider. The Q is definetly worth the trouble.
I've had to make the sim mod done by cornolio (Thanks again man for this awsom work!) And now hav one of the best phones in my oppinion here in germany working.
The only disadvantage I can life with is the unusable LTE because of the lack of frequencies in Germany.
Just my 2 cents

That depends on the area. With the whole network vision upgrade in the chicago area and their new endeavor to absorb all of the US cellular customers in the chicago area, it has been a challenge to remain loyal to sprint. Most annoying thing is answering the phone and having the person on the other end not be able to hear you. This has been going on with every 3rd or 4th call i get for two months. I stick with sprint because i have always had good results with their customer service and i use alot of data. No one else offers really unlimited data in this area.
UGHHH!!!
I want this device usable on T-Mobile SOOOOOO BAD!!!

Pricing is a big deal sprint is better than Verizon but thats not saying much. Tmo recently went to an everything unlimited for a flat rate pricing plan and before that there is a smaller lesser known company called simple mobile that basicly sells you tmo service for a flat rate like tmo does now but its less a month. If I could put my simple mobile sim in the photon Q I would be getting unlimited miniutes txt and data at 40 for 3g or 50 for 4g with sprint the cheapest plan with only 450 miniutes is 80 by comparison.
The photon Q does support hsdpa at 1900mhz which, too my knowledge, tmobile just got set up on the national scale. Could be wrong though
I would absolutely love a souped up Photon Q for T-Mobile, not some ratty looking Spec'd up ugly slider.
So for any unlikely Moto Design Employees reading this thread (chances - slim to none) haha, the device of my dreams...

Well, the Motorola Droid 5 possibly for Verizon has leaked. In recent, those new Verizon Moto LTE Devices have been able to run on AT&T and T-Mobile's HSPA Networks. Not 4GLTE, but I'll take it. Now for those who aren't up to speed, don't mock me, yes Verizon uses CDMA, but they use GSM for LTE, hence the sim card slots on their devices.
It's supposed to be rugged and have built in Qi-Charging!!!!

ATT i337 on T-Mobile's LTE

Hi guys just want to share something and as I type I See this is already well known fact but I'll do it anyway cause it's just so awesome !
For many years I had to chose very carefully what phone I get and if I have any plans to go somewhere because in 99% of the phones will not do so good unless you're on specific carrier that you phone is made for. For years now I am an ATT customer and I always had ATT phones and as always no matter what plan I had or speed I had on ATT when I insert T Mobile, Simple mobile or any other off brand companies (T-Mobile towers) I'd had EDGE. That's why SGSII i989 was for me one of the best phones because no matter what I choice I always had 3G on it, on ATT and T-Mobile carriers. And now this. I have i337 and what an amazing phone I just took my wife T-Mobile sim card with LTE service, and damn thing worked like a charm. No problem at all. I have custom rom so all APN settings even got installed and magic LTE:13 is status window. Speed tests are amazing as well 23 Mbit down and 10Mbit up. So once again I know people know about it but for those that don't you can use i337 from ATT with ANY GSM carrier in US. Because all GSM carriers are off ATT towers like H2O or Red pocket and off T-Mobile like Simple Mobile, Go Smart etc will work on good speeds. Finally I can forget about EDGE with one device.
P.S.
Let me know if there are some carriers that will not support this unit. (I don't see how if in US only 2 GSM carriers that supply towers to rest)

What rom are you using? And where do you live? I'm also use att galaxy s4 on tmobile. I did pick up lte signal two days ago, and it said lte 14. By that time, my phone was untouched, all stock. So I wonder how can that happen and does anyone know if tmobile is rolling out new band or what?

the att s4 does support tmobiles lte band but it will not get 3g or 4g hspa+ unless you live in an area where tmobile has updated their towers to give off 3g or 4g hspa on att bands otherwise you will get edge. there is a method i used to unlock the tmobile aws band on the att s4 which will give you 3g or 4g hspa+ in any tmobile area no matter if they have the updated towers or not.

Try to switch APN to fast.tmobile.com instead of epc.tmobile.com. I just tried, and it worked beautifully.

I don't have an older device. On my S4 its still volume down+power. It maybe ROM related, because I've always run aokp, that's what my SS combo has been.

i get LTE on my i337 on T-Mobile as well but I disabled it and prefer HSPA+ most of the time.. HSPA+ is fast enough and gets me much better battery life

I have i337 on UppWireless, which uses Red pocket intermediate provider,
which, in turn, uses T-Mobile or AT&T services. I subscribed for 4G, but
I have only EDGE. Is there anything I can download to get my 4G?
T-Mobile apn settings
Apn: fast.T-Mobile.com
Mmsc: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Apn type : default, mms, supl, dun
Leave the rest untouched, keep in mind that some roms LTE wont work, im running Phoenix rom and havent had any issues so far.

Issue with tmobile prepaid and LTE

Anyone here using the tmobile $30 dollar prepaid plan and have issue getting LTE? I got my phone a bit over a week ago and love it but there is the issue of no lte. Somehow I can only get up to hspa+ on ym oneplus and this is the newest respond from tforce.
Thanks for checking back, our engineers said at this time it is not a feature we can push to a prepaid account and in order to achieve LTE on that device you would need to change to a no credit check account.
Any advise?

The only thing I know that will work is if you have another LTE phone. Is to activate it on that sim by giving them the IMEI number from that phone. Then put the sim back in your One Plus and make sure you have the right APN and you should be good to go.
If not your extra phone maybe a friends LTE phones IMEI number.
Good luck..
Few questions,
1. Are you on the right APN? fast.t-mobile.com on IPv6?
2. How old is your SIM card? Was the SIM card used in another device that is LTE enabled?
3. What OnePlus One do you have? International or Chinese version? (International has Cyanogen logo in the back)
4. Just FYI... "4G" on the OPO is LTE.
5. I believe I've known others who are using the $30 plan who are on LTE. I believe that the T Force member provided you with false information and wanted you to pay more. @jarjar124 is on the $30 plan so maybe he can provide some insight? I'm pretty sure $30 plan can get LTE. And I don't believe you need to provide them with your IMEI to be LTE provisioned. Thats what AT&T does, not T-Mobile.
If your phone is the Chinese version, then I don't think it can get LTE bands as T-mobile uses bands LTE 4/2

They played that game with the nexus 4 but it wasn't LTE but as you know with the modem hack most of use used it. But I had to give them my S3 IMEI. Then all was good. So maybe he is a new customer like I was at the time and they don't show the One as an LTE phone on there network as of yet.
But Yeah @jarjar124 is a great guy and he may be able to give more in site to this.
For me it says 4G, but I'm on LTE speeds. You can check using the speedtest app. Just don't do it quite often because it uses data like crazy lol. It worked out of the box for me. No needed to change APN or anything.

Yup.. used the Hybrid Radios to activate LTE. The last T-Mobile on contract phone I got from T-Mobile was the Galaxy S1 and didn't have any problems. The main thing I needed to do was to update my SIM card because it was a very old one that wasn't able to get LTE signals.
If the OP did get the Chinese version then I'm sure that he won't be able to get LTE I believe. I could be wrong though. I'll have to look this up but I think the highest signal they can get on TMo is HSPA
Edit: Yup I was right. https://forums.oneplus.net/attachments/untitled_1-jpeg.27662/
Chinese OPO LTE FDD: 1800/2100/2600MHz
TD-LTE....... (only used in China)
If you search on this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
T-Mobile supports LTE Band 12 (limited markets, 700), 4(1700d,e,f), 2(1900)
So it is possible OP has the Chinese OPO which causes a conflict.

Really? Or is that just for simple choice plans? The prepaids don't have any of the advantages of the simple choice (free international texts/data, music streaming not counting etc). On my nexus 5, LTE worked out of the box too. Just needed the right APN.

It can also be the sim. Some sims can affect the cellular reception which can lead to your phone not reading LTE. How long did u leave your sim in? It can take time for it to switch from hspa to LTE. Where I live, it switches from hspa to LTE and vice versa constantly due to the buildings and coverage. I'm not a big person on cellular reception etc so someone please correct me if I'm wrong lol.

Good question, I have no idea. I'll have to go and take a look. Just applying common sense, I think it'd be everybody regardless of their plans since when you do a speedtest you do submit information to speedtest servers so it would only help t mobile to have the best results.

Where did you get your SIM card? From T-Mobile directly? Some sellers sell SIM cards but they don't have LTE support. Try putting your SIM card into your friend's phone and see if you get LTE on his phone.

Maybe the second one lol. The only way to really know is, well... surpass your 5GB monthly data allowance and then be throttled down then run a speedtest. See if the results return LTE speeds or your throttled speed.

After reading a the responses and seeing you talked to them and have a new sim. I would think it is what I was talking about that phone dose not show up in there system as an LTE device as of yet.
Does your friend have T-Mobile if so I would think that is the case. If you used his sim and got LTE. I had it happen as I stated with my nexus 4 as a new customer. But using me S3 IMEI it worked when I put the sim back in my N4.

The problem is that I don't think T-Mobile has OnePlus One IMEIs in their database. I've read that on a Reddit AMA with OnePlus employees. You'd have to give them a IMEI for a 4G compatible phone... or call them and hopefully you can find a good service representative who will help you out and provise you accordingly if everything else checks out (APN, SIM card, etc)

Hmm, well before your monthly cycle ends.... leave Netflix on over night or something so you can pass your limit and then you'll know if it counts for everybody lol. I usually run a speed test if im in a new area and then if its not high enough compared to my peak i just kill the app so it doesnt finish the speed test

Yeap that is what I am saying I have seen it happen to many others even with a new accounts when the nexus 5 came out. Just reading that he talked to a rep tells me that its not in the system yet. And if he is a new to T that could be it. Give an old or other 4g IMEI will work.

Well, I am not new to mobile, but the last device I got was a Galaxy Nexus which might be the problem since it was a hspa+ device. So what are my choices? Can I borrow a friend lte device and just give them the imei?

Will there be a OnePlus with full Verizon US LTE support?

Will there be a OnePlus with full Verizon US LTE support? If anyone finds any news on which bands will be supported it will be great if you can past them here. Thanks!!

Yeah but if it does not have band 13 ( I believe that is Verizons main LTE band) then it OP 6 won't support LTE. I have read older OP will receive service but only up to 3G.
Yes, would love it to support VZW...will gladly sell my Pixel 2 XL to move back to OnePlus. But have no choice. Sucks that the best network in the US is limited for phones with support...damn Verizon...
Whilst Verizon uses LTE for data, it still uses CDMA for voice and I don't think the OP phones support that?

Sent a tweet to the co-founder the other day asking about that...of course support jumps in with their standard "We have no information on this issue at this time. Please stay tuned for more information on our official launch of May 15th."
I know/heard they are looking to find a US partner, since VZW has the largest/best network pretty much in the US, supporting that network gives them a huge opportunity for a flagship phone, I know they need to compete with Google/Samsung in the store, but another alternative for people is always good. As I said, I was forced on to a Pixel 2 XL because it is the only real good phone that works on Verizon, plus you can bootloader unlock and has some Dev support on XDA...with Treble. Otherwise, HTC is another alternative, they have some of the best Dev support on XDA and can bootloader unlock, works on all networks. OnePlus should follow that lead, but build a better phone.

Voice goes over Verizon's LTE as well. They will be shutting does CDMA in a few years
I sure hope so. My area is predominantly Verizon. The three main reasons I bought 1+, is bootloader unlock friendly, headphone jack, and dual SIM. My personal is ATT and my work is Verizon. I hate carrying two phones. I use my personal for data, and the work for just calls and texts. Works out ok, but group messages on Verizon get funky sometime but it's worth it. Plus I wish I could use my company's data instead of personal. The sacrifices to only carrying one phone.....here's to hoping 1+ finally includes all of Verizon's bands! And yes, soon everything will be over LTE, CDMA is going away.

That's actually incorrect. OnePlus has supported CDMA (Band 0) since the OnePlus 3. Sprint uses Band 1 and Band 10. Verizon uses Band 0 in almost all markets but there are quite a few major cities where they instead use Band 1 which OnePlus is still missing.
Service on Verizon is tied to the SIM and not the device. That's why users have used OnePlus 3/5 devices on Verizon successfully with service over Band 0 CDMA and Band 2/4 LTE. I do recall some indicating that there issues when switching between CDMA/LTE, but this may have since been resolved.
However, obviously the band support is far from optimal. If the 6 just adds B13 LTE then the OP6 would be viable for Verizon-use. I don't expect it will happen, but I believe it was brought to Carl Pei's attention at some point. It's not very difficult to add B13 LTE, so it's possible but not expected that they'd add support. Let's see what happens.
Also, using Dual SIM is an option lest you forget.

Based on this pic I got from the not quite fully working spec page, OnePlus 6 doesn't support the main verizon band of 13.

Just read XDA's page on the specs:

Band 0 for CDMA is there, no Band 13 :crying:

Its never good enough lol
I use a 2nd phone for hotspot only, I would like to be able to use the primary bands for that phone. Now with 5G rolling out I wonder if maybe oneplus will add the bands for verizon's 5G when they implement it? Wishful thinking tho.
Boo....VZW and OnePLus...between the two of them...what a mess for customers. Love to get rid of my Pixel 2xl. Thing is so bulky/huge. There is really no other phone on VZW you can bootloader unlock/root with great specs and performance.
Hoping OnePlus 6 would come through...guess not. Stuck with Pixel 2 for now.

If I don't unlock/root are there any good spec phones at good price? I'm on a ZTE axon 7 with VZW but I can't use data when on a call and it's always losing the APN it's set to. I was really hoping the OnePlus would be my answer. I really need a stable phone.
I will report what i get on mine before i probably return it. No Verizon support? Seriously? They deserve this return, i literally assumed they had that implemented by now. LoL
I'm about to unbox & try it now, how disappointing....

Lte only, no phone calls.
So let me get this right, the voice calling is what's missing on Verizon? What if i primarily use internet based calling via Google Hangouts (old Google voice number) for calling? I'm on an old limited minutes but unlimited data Verizon plan (old grandfathered in plans) so data is unrestricted but minutes aren't used much anyway. Normally i only use the regular line if service for LTE is just too poor for VOIP calls. It would be an inconvenience but maybe not a deal breaker.
I'd love to hear any thoughts before i decide to unbox it or just sell it. I have the 256gb model which is now sold out. Breaks my heart to not be able to use it on Verizon.
