[Q] Weird file system problem when connecting to Windows - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

So I'm having a strange and annoying problem with my sgs3, I'm running windows xp, and when I connect my phone it shows up in 'my computer' as SCH-I535. The problem is, when I open that folder.. it is empty (shows no directories at all) when I'm connected as media device. However, if I switch from media device to camera and back to media device, I am then able to see the directories.. This is extremely annoying to have to do this every time I connect my phone in order to transfer files. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers twice, with reboots and all.. Still doing the same thing. If anyone could help me figure this out, It'd be MUCH appreciated.

Sync Problems

Ok, I admit I am a total noob I have only had this phone a day and I was able to get it to sync with my computer last night. However, today when trying to sync I plug it in and activesync makes a sound like its recognized the device but does nothing and continues to say the device is not connected.
I am using the standard rom and have enabled data communications in the connections screen. I have tried hard and soft resets.
Please help me...
Also on a weird note it is detecting the device as a file drive but it has a ton of photos and music that I did not load onto the phone in the device folder. Also the mobile device folder is empty.
Thank you in advance.
Go to Start-> Settings -> Connections-> USB to PC and uncheck the "Enable advanced network functionality".
Connect your mobile to PC. It will be recognized (but not synch) by the ActiveSynch.
Then take it out and re-enable the "advanced network functionality".
Connect your mobile to PC agian and it will work again.
This works for me. It happened yesterday.
No go. Windows recognized it as an mobile device but activesync was still unable to connect to the device.
Also, when connecting the device as a disk drive I can see some apps i've installed in the program file, but it is still showing alot of items I didn't add. These files don't appear to be on the device. After deleting those extra files I tried to send new pictures to the device which would not transfer.
Any Ideas?

[I9003] Bluetooth connection with Win7-64 Bit

I have a Dell Laptop with Win7-64 Bit. I had connected the phone using bluetooth and it was working fine. Was showing under devices and in My Computer there was a folder I9003 from where I could browse.
Some days back I noticed that the folder cannot be opened. The open option is gone. I have tried to remove the device and reinstall but nothing seems to work. The device is added in shows in Devices and Printers. I get a "control" command in context menu but on clicking this there are only audio connect options. When I send a file from the phone, it gives connection error.
Tried all sorts of things, removed all bluetooth drivers and also the adapter and rebooted / reinstalled and then connected the phone but nothing works.
Hope someone can give me some good suggestions before this thread is moved to the I9000 section.
Do a right click on the icon of your phone (pairing is required first) then chose control and under the list you will find explore there you can explore your phone....

Infuse Drives Not Showing Up In Windows, Device Is.

So the problem I'm having with my infuse is that the disk drives (E:/F are not showing up in Windows Explorer. I've done some trial and error to diagnose the problem but I'm currently at a loss. Here's what I know:
The cable is fine, I just purchased to new cable to make sure that it wasn't the problem after I thought that the original cable was the issue.
The phone works perfectly fine on linux, I'm able to mount the two devices (/dev/sdb, /dev/sdc) without problems and transfer files without any delay or trouble.
In windows the computer recognizes when the phone is plugged in and if you go into "Printers and Devices" you can see the "Samsung_Android" device. If you right click on it before you turn on USB storage on the device the context menu pops up and you can go into properties and see that all the functions are recognized for the phone, (two disk drives (it recognizes them as E and F), modem, two mtp devices, etc.)
Once you enable USB mass storage on the phone you can no longer right click on the device and see properties, if you do it takes a minute or two for the menu to pop up and clicking anything in the menu makes the lag unuseable.
Sometimes drive E: will show up in Explorer but not F: and when I click on it it still just stalls in loading the drive.
If I go into command line and type "e:" on windows to cd to that drive it also just stalls out rather than saying that the drive has not been found.
If I go into the disk manager to see if maybe it's just a drive name conflict in the management console it doesn't load because the manager just stalls out at "Connecting to Virtual Disk Manager Service"
I was originally having this problem on stock rooted FROYO, I was able to use Kies (through the same windows machine) and upgrade to stock GB but on GB I was still having the problem. Then I switched over to the stock rooted GB rom and I'm also still having the problem.
I'm pretty convinced the problem has to do with windows not my phone because I seem to have isolated it to just this windows install (I haven't had the opportunity to try on another windows machine but I figure it will probably work fine there) since it can't be due to the cable or a faulty Froyo/GB install.
Do you have any ideas on how I can fix this? I'll gladly provide anymore information regarding my problem if you think it will help.
Windows....sux dont it...
I would uninstall all phone drives....download new set...reinstall....and see what happens.
And like you said....i would try another windows pc....

[Q] G2 USB connection problems

I'm trying to use android file transfer on my macbook and every time i plug in my phone it automatically selects the "PC Software" option and it loads up a screen that says "Installing PC Programs.....Please check your PC" but nothing happens on my PC or phone.
I select the Media Sync (MTP) option on my phone but it will literally switch it back to PC software on its own. I've even unplugged my phone, changed the setting and plugged it back in and it keeps forcing itself onto the PC Software option, i've even gone so far to restart my phone and computer.
I have the USB drivers from LG for my macbook and phone installed but it's not working. To make things more annoying I was using android file transfer like 3 weeks ago but for some reason this keeps happening.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

Recover Files Without Screen

My Oneplus One had water damage and the screen shorted. It appears to still be working behind the scenes - I can turn it off and on, it makes sounds and lights for notifications, etc. - but the screen is completely black and unusable. Luckily, most of my stuff was backed up to the cloud, but I still have a few files I'd like to get off it if I can. Does anyone have any idea how?
I had ADB, etc. set up on my Win 7 work computer, so I was going to use that, but whenever I plug it in, the computer wants to download and install an MTP driver, fails to do so, and leaves me unable to access the phone. I tried plugging it into my Win 10 personal computer and it shows up as a "functioning" MTP device in Device Manager, but not in Windows Explorer, so I'm not sure how to access anything on it. I installed the Samsung ADB drivers but it won't let me update the drivers for my MTP device at all, so I don't know how to associate them with the phone.
After reinstalling some drivers I can get it to connect as MTP. However, I'm not trying to download videos or photos. I'd primarily like to download some saved game files, and see what text messages I may have missed in the 3 weeks or so it took me to get a new phone (I had a temp phone with a different number during that time). Does anyone have any idea how I can do this? Is there a way to use the computer to switch the connected mode or to pull this info while in MTP?
