ORIGINAL RUSSIAN FORUM THREAD
The developer should be adding Xperia Play Controls but as its an early Beta (Would not of thought it by the quality) is has basic options in the app (game in full of course) you can use USB controllers if know your input event (e.g dev/input/event?). I have tried mapping the buttons on Xperia Play the D-pad works and you can map Cross. If anyone finds a better way of mapping to play please post your findings.
Short Description:
The legendary game id Software on the Quake III engine is now on Android. Description: Return to Castle Wolfenstein - PC game, first person shooter, developed by id Software, Gray Matter Interactive, Nerve Software and published by Activision November 20, 2001 exclusively for personal computers running operating systems Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS. player will have to go in the shoes of Agent-2 from the organization Office of Secret Actions (OSA) named William "BJ" Blazkovich, who was the protagonist of Wolfenstein 3D . by this port - I, native-part of the port based on kwaak3, and JNI + Java part I rewrote again, because I could not live with krivosti kwaak3 (though maybe I'm kind of surpassed it in terms of the curvature). As you know, Return to Castle Wolfenstein under GPL license, source code will be available after publication on Google Play. However, until such time as I am satisfied with the rating on Google Play, I'll be posting the source code only on price support (under license), and the Russian Post ... you get the idea. On HTC One X port is well tolerated (there was only one lag of up to 15 FPS for the whole game) and I was playing on the phone to start the game, you must throw the Main folder from the folder with the game for PC / sdcard/rtcw4a / main I hope you bought the original game (it's worth it), and if so, do not forget to patch to the latest version. Or buy a game on Steam as I am. Please do not embed in my post direct links to pirated versions of the game, it's not good. But links to my posts with links - no problem. All suggestions please leave exclusively here, drugs should not be written, the box is clogged.

OMG, this is my favorite of iD's work. If this guy gets RTCW working well with the Xperia Play touchpads, I don't know what I'll do! <...probably donate $$>

YES!!!!! Maybe these guys can use similar steps to bring us Jedi Knight 2 next

Awesome!!!!!

Hell yeah ......has any one tried using gamekeyboard on this yet? Only thing is that the game, except for the menu, is all distorted across the screen.
unfortunately, i cant start a game...due to how distorted the game gets i cant tell what is going on ....the only thing that actually woks is the main menu lol
It works perfectly on my nook color though lol....maybe I can find a way to use my play as a controller haah...in combination with gamekeyboard I could use the hardware keys....now to just find an app that let's me so this

I tried this on a 7" generic tablet and it works very smooth, control is a lot better if you set "Always run" to OFF, and bump the mouse sensitivity to your liking.
Still, I tried using a mouse through OTG(I checked "Hide onscreen buttons and enable mouse" option before starting the game), and I can see the Android mouse cursor in-game, but I cannot use it to click on "Play", "Options", etc.
If I swipe my finger across the screen I can move the in-game mouse cursor(different than the Android one), but I cannot select anything, as the onscreen buttons are disabled...

is there a way to set in English, whe i press button i can't shot with the gun for example can you help me

Where did you get the Original game (Sd Data) from? Sounds like you need to delete Language Pak files which are not English. The app is complete English menus in app and in game for me with my version from Steam.

files which are to be put in the folder (rtcw4a)??
I installed the game on my pc and directory (Program Files) I have the folder: Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
And there in a lot of files that weigh a total of 627 MB.
Which of all I have to put those files?

The same guys from 4pda.ru are porting it. On youtube there must be a prealpha video. Oh and by the way found yesterday in the Internet a apk which is about 50mb. Its a little piece of the game for just showing the gameplay where you can walk around and look at mutants and so on. Must say it looks perfect, smooth as butter( but only touch atm) Believe its called projectS.T.A.L.K.E.R.
So from what i saw this absolutely will be a hit.

Well with the final beta apk the game works fully now. Yay. Now to make a gamekeyboard layout for it. I'll let you know once its ready.

Yes, that is my review on the application. (obviously, since you can see the name matches, not trying to hide it or would of changed the name). I am pretty new to the marketplace and android world, so I am sorry if that is a rule. Is there a rule about not being able to review my own application? If so, I will remove the review, not to sure about that, if I am not suppose rate Google would of disabled it for you? Just like Google disables purchasing your own application from the market. Let me know, thank you. =)
On the other note, please let me know how the application turns out. I'm running it on a Galaxy S phone and it's been working fine on it. Although due to CPU limits load down the game, such as some games lag on my phone but run just fine at normal speed when I run it on a Tegra 2 tablet.
im not trying to disrespect you or anything i just thought it was funny because ive never seen that before. i checked it out to see how it compared to kongregate. im sure your app will get noticed soon enough. good luck.
Great, but the adverts cut off the bottom half - leaving the game play ruined
nice idea though! I've been looking for something like this

There has been an update that allows the users to indirectly port the android game through the site for those flash games that even do HTTP Header Referral check.

Did you try New Game -> URL Address -> Indirect Loading?
Edit: I tried loading http://apps.facebook.com/restaurantcity/ through my facebook account in the app and it seems like its an android flash limitation that does not make it load past (Loading -> Initializing Screen).
http://console-cdn.playfish.com/code/2_3_1_13_fp10/console.swf Loads around 10 other .swfs and android flash finally gives up.
Updated Game with Additional Keys and Flash Options.
Would Appreciate any Feedback, thank you.
Been trying Canabalt, and the lower quality version works, but there's a fair delay from pressing the jump button to the guy actually jumping. The high quality one I can't get it started, it asks for X or C to start the game, but it doesn't seem to register any key presses.

Will this work on the Nexus S (considering, that the device does not have an SD Card)?

Yes, the main basic source originates from my business partner, Anderdroid, he definitely gets lots of credit for the base (horizontal, buttons and flash view). I've built off, improved, fixed aspects of it. And also added features that made it the Flash Game Player today. What we agreed on was not to share the source, I mentioned to Anderdroid multiple times when I was building off of it. So there was miscommunication between us. Anyhow, we will be resolving this via MSN.
Cool works well slightly, cause i was trying to play a game that i downloaded off miniclip and it didnt load also after the first level of monster truck, it goes to a blank grey screen with like a play button in the middle and then the program crashes.
Worked ok for one level o nmoster truck needs work, but this is an awesome app 4 out of stars from me, just need it to work on more flash sites and not crash.
Thanks for the awesome app!!

Test the Touchpad

From the SE developers world site you can download the files I added as an attachment in .zip format. They help devs on their way to develop for the xperia play and belong together with the following: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/921/870/1297178992/Accessing_Touch%20Events.pdf
Which I think would be perfect to see how acurate the touchpads really are.
I managed to compile the code from Sony Ericson (my first app/program I ever compiled for android and one of the first in my live ) and added the .apk as an attachment. this is based on the code in the TouchpadNA.zip file.
Personally I was suprised with how acurate it was and found out it's actually 1 big multitouchpad. It detects 2 seperate fingers max but that could be a limitation from this software. The software also detects fingers on the touchscreen (up to 4).
Edit2: Used new icons and did some version numbering, maybe going to improve the app in the future (like testing all other buttons so you can maybe see input lag, but not sure about it). The codes are still the original from SE.
Edit3: Now shows up in the xperia play game launcher!
Nice little app
Just tested the touchpads to see if they did work... Hey and they do :-D
Wich games do they actually work in, cause they're not implemented in fpse yet?
It now shows up in the xperia play game launcher
I think you'd do a great thing if you keep developing this. This could be the beginning for a sweet bundle of custom apps (such as Zoop57's camera mod) which would really enhance the value of our XPlays.
I assume we're good to go installing the APK?
My biggest disapoint with the play is devs dont treat the touch pads like analogue sticks, even on rainbow 6 and nova you have to aim with swipes rather than using it like a stick on my xbox pad (if you get what i mean) lol
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
The apk is good to install yes. Just select it with something like root explorer or just open it in a mail on your device, you do have to select somewhere in the options to allow apps from outside the market.
Since I'm not very good with coding I don't think I can improve much (all the code is from SE). I do wonder why SE didn;t put this in the service menu though.
@AndroHero
I to find that bothersome, walking goes fine but for aiming we need to sweep :/

I was actually thinking of writing to gameloft to request this. If the analog touchsticks played like all analog sticks, games would be much better.
I think it is gameloft rather than sony here, since the "look" touchstick is simply emulating a swipe on a touchscreen.
This DEFINATELY needs to be fixed if fps games are going to be taken more seriously on the sexplay.

Funny that i was thinking of starting a thread in the gameloft forum about the same thing, the touchpad test proves that both thumpads can emulate analogue stick perfectly fine to be implimented into games.

If you make a thread, post the link and i will support you.
Im fairly certain Gameloft make the "look" analog stick function this way due to basically "copy and paste" code from touchscreen to analog stick.
The "movement" stick works properly like a proper analog stick, but the "swipe style look movement" on the "look" stick needs to be programmed to properly work like an analog stick and not emulate the touchscreen swipe.
many gameloft games like MC2 already have this functionality built in. Change the control scheme from analog/swipe or swipe/swipe to analog/analog. You won't likely live to regret it in online play, its abysmal. But as I said in the other forum, to each his own.
Wow, this is extremely impressive!
I have a question though, what exactly did you have to do to make the application show up in the Xperia Play's Game Launcher?
He added a certain string to the app's APK file which labels it as "Xperia Play Optimised" content, thus showing in the Game Launcher.
Developers of emulators should add it then

Any idea what specific file that'd be added to and where? There's a couple developers I've been trying to help get their game Xperia Play Optimized and I'm feeding them every little bit of info I get.

Maybe also making square PS key to backspace, triangle to shift (single press upper case next key, double press Caps Lock), X and Start buttons Enter, O and Select buttons spacebar. Unless Select button could be used to switch qwerty... row to numbers 1234... etc. Turning the touchpad into 2-mode keyboard, so main mode lettering could be printed in black on the touchscreen as above and secondary (numbers, symbols, etc) in grey next to them in grey and/or smaller size...
Menu button below PS directional ones to popup the built-in onscreen keyboard for numbers/symbols, etc input?

A New arcade emulator (Final Burn Alpha Port) for Android. The Dev has posted this in the main XDA apps section (Full Version For FREE) but if people missed it i wanted to bring it to your attention. Works fine with Xperia Play and controls. Its already mapped if just click on the Joystick icon in-game and select hardware keys and turn off the on-screen pad. Been able to play loads of sweet games like metal slug 5, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future and Progear . Hopefully this will be supported better then Tiger Mame.

Finaly Great News man!
Thanks for sharing.
FBA is a great emulator so I'll test this port. Thanks for sharing this info.
hi guys, i want to know how comes on mine, it didnt read any cps3 roms. They are img files, along with a ccd and sub file, where do I put these files?
Isn't Tiger Arcade FBA as well? All the roms I kept from my Windows Mobile FBA emulator work on it. If this is the case is there anything that this emulator does better? Thanks!

Tiger's was a Mame emulator. This is the same sort of thing (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) but final burn is said to be faster with some games, better then Mame on lower end device's and has a good support. Really its down to your choice what one you use. The only difference with this and TigerMame as an Android emu is this is still in development, Plays more CPS3 titles, UI is much better and other small details really.

This emu only reads games from arcade machine boards not CD img's. You will find them on Google/Web in Zip format (Don't Unzip or rename. The emulator reads them like this). No way else of acquiring them unless you carry around a 5-6ft Arcade Machine's with you
Really? Tiger Arcade even thanks the FBA team in the credits and many state that it is in fact a port of FBA. Like I said my FBA romset from windows mobile 6.5 work perfectly on Tiger Arcade and the FBA team even states in their history "FB Alpha supports games on Capcom CPS-1 and CPS-2 hardware, SNK Neo-Geo hardware, Toaplan hardware, Cave hardware" which is the exact same as the supported list for Tiger Arcade. I'm not trying to be argumentative but I'd love to hear from someone else familiar with the two emulators to see if they also believe it is the same emulator. And even still, is this coded better than Tiger Arcade and which CPS3 games does it support over Tiger (since I haven't had an issue in any) because if so I'll check it out but if it has a way to go and supports the same rom-set I'll pass.

Never knew till checked it out fully. Tiger is based on FBA even though he states it as mame just looked at his source on github https://github.com/tigerking/arcade/blob/master/license.txt .Still this should be better due to UI and later FBA code then tiger used over a year ago with his. Plus the fact that it's still being developed and is free (tigerMAME) you have to pay to save as I can remember. This also will run on later Android OS as I know his emulator has issues on ICS and Jellybean (but does not really affect play users). Sorry for the miss information

He left out a line of code. He will add in next version. But for some reason just press the set buttons then press use hardware keys to take off on-screen ones. For some reason the play is already mapped. Fully works on mine with all buttons mapped that way.

Yeah, the controllers are fully mapped but I would like to arrange them... Neogeo and CPS have differents button order.
Thanks for your response, I'll be wait for the next update.
This emulator is really good. Already impressive for an early/incomplete release.
What i notice:
-If you did not download the 100MB package, it will always ask you to do it
-Buttons are set. I tried to edit the xml file in the data/data folder (the format looks exactly like neodroid), but it did not work. I want to change it because I am very used to playstation controls with like MvC for example.
-I sometimes experience force close if i end the emulation (does not matter much)
-Cannot overwrite a saved state. Is this how it really works?

Ahhh, I didn't know it was free and based off a newer version. I'll have to keep an eye on this then. I was actually really let down when I got my Xperia Play and certain FBA games I was used to playing on my Dash 3g actually ran slower despite the Xperia Play's incredible processing superiority compared to the D3. I hope we see great things out of this because if the winmo version of FBA is any benchmark we should easily see full speed with sound on in most games whereas I currently play them all without sound.
GREAT
i hope can play golden ax
Hello!
What settings (keys) that you guys use this emulator? Could you pass me please, I am not getting set here
thank you
could the dev please add autofire option in the control options menu (fba on all other devices has this)
its a real chore rapidly stabbing away on physical buttons, not to mention bad for the hardware,
and rapid stabbing of the fire button on touchscreen controls is even worse, whole device shakes, etc.
cheers
thanks for making afba!
but would you let me know how to get into the software setting?
you know like, credits life difficulty some sort of.
because i'm playing dodonpachi dai-ou-jou.
but, it's default setting is easy difficulty with 'discontinue' on!
so i tried service on the menu but, it doesn't work.
I recommend FBA4DROID 1.65, is similar aFBA. :good:

This has finally been officially released on the Play Store under the name DIII4A! And it is still free to download! You can download it from the follow link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n0n3m4.DIII4A&hl=en
This new release does not have much for an increase in performance, but it does have a simplified installation. The gl2progs folder is no longer needed as the app installs it and the configuration files are also not really needed, but can still be used for more advanced tweaking. There are also new options to use ETC1 compression and cache, but I would recommend leaving those off as it increased loading times for me and also reduced performance by a little bit.
This game runs great on my Nexus 4 and other high-end devices! Playing with the onscreen controls is obviously not very good, but if you have a PS3 controller lying around you can get it to work perfectly with it using the Sixaxis Controller app. Just make sure to set it up to emulate a mouse and choose enable mouse in the app's control options (requires root). Purchase a GameKlip too for the ultimate gaming experience on the go! Mouse and keyboard also work great through either bluetooth or USB OTG.
1) Install Doom 3 on your PC and make sure it is updated to the latest version which is 1.3.1.
2) Copy over the base folder from the Doom 3 installation on your PC to your phone into a folder called diii4a. You can change the folder name if you like, just make sure you point the app to the new folder and you CANNOT put spaces in the folder name.
3) Install the app. The latest version is currently v1.1.
4) Start it up and you should have this amazing game running on your phone or tablet. Network features also work and you can even play games with people playing on PC! Here is a YouTube video showing this in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN26X93NUno
Thanks to InsaneNutter for pointing this out!
Also, if you're running it on an older device and the fps are too low, you can disable all the lighting effects by just selecting the "Disable lighting" option at the main menu of the app. The game will run MUCH smoother.
Here is a great step-by-step video tutorial by RolandDeschain79 that also shows some gameplay comparisons between having the lighting enabled and disabled on his Note 2. Thanks man!
This is the Russian thread where it originally came from: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=330329
I installed the game and it works on my PC but when I want to open it on my phone when I hit "Start the game" the app closes itself...
what is wrong?

The gl2progs folder needs to be inside the base folder, not the diii4a folder. Also, you can delete all the other stuff in that folder. The only things that should be in the diii4a folder are the base folder and the stderr and stdout text documents.
Sounds promising. I'll try this out after I buy the PS3 controller app.
Thanks.
Thanks its working now. It seems that graphics are on low setting and I can't change them

Yeah I don't think the graphics can be changed much in its current state. I looked a little at the Russian thread and it seemed like there was another version with all the lighting effects, but downloading it came up with a 404 error and I can't make anything out cause Google translate doesn't help very much.

I just thought I'd share this on here. I came across this Doom 3 port a little while ago and it runs almost flawlessly on my Nexus 4. Playing with the onscreen controls is obviously not very good, but if you have a PS3 controller lying around you can get it to work perfectly with it using the Sixaxis Controller app. I also have a GameKlip to go with it and I absolutely love being able to play a good console game using a good console controller on the go. I've attached the apk needed. Once installed, just create a folder called diii4a on the root of your storage then copy over the base folder from your Doom 3 installation on your pc into that folder. Also make sure to extract the gl2progs folder I attached into your base folder. Here's the thread where it originally came from. It's all in Russian so I have no clue what's going on in the thread http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=330329&st=1160

Thanks, had been trying to get this working for ages but I didn't know I needed the Gl2progs folder too. Works almost perfectly and with a bluetooth controller too. Can't wait to see what the developer comes out with next.
Anyone provide the PC folder/files that are necessary?
Thanks

hey, this is amazing, must say however i'm a bit of a noob to configuring sixaxis, could you either share your six axis profile or give us a hint on how to configure it for best effect? all ive done atm is bind a/d and look up and down to the left and right sticks where appropriate, but its not the most pleasant experience to use, its quite jerky, have i gone about this the wrong way?

In the Doom 3 app there is an option to hide on screen controls and use a mouse, and there is also an option in Sixaxis Controller to emulate a mouse using the right stick. It works great when you set it up that way.
aha, thank you, i will look into it.

Doom 3 BFG Edition?
Hey, I cant find my copy of Doom 3 from way back in 2005 or whatever. If I were to purchase the new (remake?) BFG Edition of Doom 3 do you think this would still work? Anyone try this or know the differences between the two game editions?

I haven't tried it but I wouldn't think it'd work because the original will only work on version 1.3.1 and I'm sure the remake has quite a bit more changes to it. Plus The graphics are better so it would have even more trouble running it. If you do end up buying it though, give it a shot and let us know.
Finally figured out how to get lighting!
2 ways
1. Download ROM toolbox, go to the folder "base" and press the button "new" and hit file.
Name it "autoexec.cfg" (without quotes) now click on the newly created file and open it as a text file and choose the text editing app of your choice.
Now type in "set r_nolight 0" (again without quotes) and save it.
Enjoy!
2. Start up the app and where it says command add in so it looks like this "game.arm + set no_light 0" (without quotes)
I have not tested this so you may have to play around with it and report results
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may have to lower you resolution to make it more playable, frame rate drops quite a bit with lighting.

reicast - Dreamcast Emulator

That's right a dreamcast emulator which seems quite decent
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.reicast.emulator
Description
reicast is a multi-platform Dreamcast emulator.
The project is currently in Alpha, usability, performance and stability issues are to be expected. We'll fix them the following weeks! As we only have a few android devices, we'd really love to see your videos of it running!
Cortex-A9 dualcore, 1ghz+ is the minimum hardware for decent speeds
The Dreamcast BIOS is required for this emulator to work. Put it on /sdcard/dc/data/dc_boot.bin. The Dreamcast flash should be on /sdcard/dc/data/dc_flash.bin. You should dump these files from your Dreamcast, Google has many tutorials on how to. if the dc or data folders are missing, create them.
In order to save your game-play progress you will first need to format the memory cards. In order to do this you need to start the program, select the "boot bios" option, go to the "file" option, select the memory cards and then select the "delete all" option.

Great, this is something that I wanted to see on android, speed seems decent.
I've read about it on the web and installed ASAP.
Currently I've only tried MVC2 that runs silky smooth (yey!)
Anyone tried sixaxis support?
San Fransisco Rush 2049, not bad for Alpha. Really want to try my game collection.

Yes it runs excellently, I was surprised. I havent tried sixaxis yet but wouldnt this emu need input support for that like other emu's?
Not sure if intended but works flawlessly with my PS3 controller using Sixaxis app
All I need to know now is how to save (maybe i can use my old demul daves?)
Exellent emu!!!
Already granted 5 stars on Play

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Shenmu
Resident Evil
Ran fine with Vigilante 8 2nd Offense, however, crashes when i try to select Palomino XII on Quest mode.
Sound is more or less working, with small delays.
Framerate is awesome. No lag or stuff.
I have tested it on a Nexus 4.
It also doesnt load saves (The emulation stops).
Runs fine, with minor graphical glitches.
Saves games too if you follow the instructions.
I'm having trouble using the controls tho, especially in sonic adventure 2. It's almost unplayable because the on screen controls suck so bad.
Will this work with a game controller? I'd consider buying one if it did, since this app is like having a dreamcast in your pocket.

I can't find where to put the bios files in (I don't even know if I put the correct ones in, can someone link me to the right ones?), I made the folder myself but that didn't work.
Edit: Guess I downloaded the right bios and made the right folder, just had to rename the bios to boot.

Yes I also had this issue as well. The bios file I used did not contain boot.bios. I had to rename one of the two bios files to get it working.
It was easy to guess which one needed to be renamed.

Well it wasn't perfectly clear in OP. You should put that bit that you have to rename the bios file to boot. Not complaining though, after some research, I found it out. Amazing work man, hopefully the graphical woes on Shenmue will be fixed soon! Rating it 5/5 on the Play Store regardless. :good:

Well, not sure what do you mean by 'touch emulation' but the PS3 woks great with Sixaxis.
I've managed to format the memcards from BIOS, but MVC2 seems to freeze after the first fight.
Any other games you suggest?
