Official ICS 1200mhz? - Motorola Atrix 2

People have reported their CPUs clocked at 1200mhz after the update. Mines still at 1000. Is this correct? Thanks.

Mine is 1200 mhz. What app is the OP using to tell the clock speed?
I'm using Android System Info from the market.

Yeah buddy, stock ICS leask #1. 1200!!! I've had 4 A2's and 2 out of 4 came equipped with 1200 stock ICS. I believe it's luck of the draw man. Don't sweat it, the other two were 1000 but was able to OC both at 1200 with no bootlooping issues. GL.
Sent From My Motorola Atrix 2 ICS Leaked 1.

Also at 1200.

I'm sure Moto didn't choose to put some A2's on 1200 and keep the others on 1000. The OTAs files pushed out to all the phones are identical. So what's causing these differences in clock speeds? Beats me

Look what mine says!

They may have, putting a check in place that queries the CPU's specific ID to find out what batch it's from. If it's from a good batch, 1200, if not, 1000. That's a POSSIBILITY.

That makes sense.. I tried to OC this phone at one time and couldn't even get to 1100mhz without it freezing and doing stupid ****. I just thought I was doing something wrong. And I was so happy that I would finally be able to get to 1200mhz without having to do anything. I guess I just got the **** CPU....

Very interesting.... I wouldn't put it past Motorola to only overclock the "good" chips, nice quality assurance there Moto . First time I heard about this I just thought "Well okay, an overclock from GB stuck through to ICS, no big deal", but it's been confirmed that isn't the case. Strange how some are overclocked and some are not. A big company like Moto shouldn't have "good" batches and "bad" batches, if that is the case we will never get an official word on this, maybe it's a kind of soak test, trying the 1.2 over clock on certain phones only..... But I don't know.

I think it does something to check if your cpu is capable of being stable at the higher speed. Unfortunately, mine is still at 1000Mhz also. I was hoping for the higher speed but not so lucky.

Its not that simple of a check to determine if it can run...
- Mine bootlooped when OC'd to 1200 on 2.3.5
- Its 1200 on 4.0 fine
- Others had it OC'd to 1200 with no problem on 2.3.5
- They have it set by default to 1000 on ICS
I made a survey about this some time ago, but almost all of my theories went down the drain...

mine stayed at 1000mhz.:banghead:

Tegrak overclock app?

Anyone else use this app to overclock? Im bored at work and instead of working I just installed it and ran quadrant, which I know that's all its really good for, and hit over 1900 at 1.3 ghz. Im gonna leave it there for a bit to see if anything goes wrong...
Edit: eats battery like buttery salty movie theatre popcorn!

I don't understand why anyone wants to overclock our phones? From everything I have read all it will do is decrease battery life and give higher quad scores which really mean nothing.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
i think whats more important, or more NEEDED, is voltage control.
be it voltage control for OC'ing or Voltage Control for underclocking, or just dropping the voltages as low as you can go while maintaning the stock phone speeds.
this is one thing i miss about the EVO.

Because its fun. Of course there is no practical value in it I even said that. I personally just like to mess with my phone to mess with it and I'm sure others do too. does a theme make your phone run better or more efficiently are they important to practicality? No it just changes its looks so why do people do that? It's fun.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I mean...there's plenty of practical reasons to overclock, e.g. better performance in a game. But if you're sitting around playing a game for a while, I doubt your concern is battery life to begin with.
tegrak uses module overlock similar to how the dx/d2/milestone are able to oc/uv without the ability to accept custom kernels
its not ideal (for those that overclock) compared to actual custom kernels with oc steps.
that being said, overclock isnt particularly important on 1ghz and up processors..whereas the eris/og droid needed it to compensate
I am using it, overclocked to 1.3 and then using setcpu to keep it at 800. I just want to have the speed and power there if needed
edit: just got a 1719 score in quadrant on 1.3

I'm on Eclair rooted w/ Voodoo and regularly pull 1800+ Quadrant scores and get a solid 12hr. of battery life with screen brightness at around 60% (easily visible outside). I have no idea why anyone would want to use an OC tool... other than to have than extra bit of control that would allow you to undervolt even further for additional battery life.
EDIT-
To:Zach - I'm calling your boss to tell them that you're off-task and that they should make you quit the OC'ing and get back to work ASAP.

This is so true. I underclocked my phone to 768MHz to try out how it would work for a day. I ended up entirely forgetting I had done that until I ran a benchmark.
seeing all this is amazing, I am very tempted to try it out, but this beast is super fast with having to OC it, lol

I don't know if you're right or not but I just flashed the 1.5 kernel and at 1.4 this thing is as fast as a computer..I hope you're right because I don't wanna go back to 1ghz..
Got 2016 quadrant after a reboot which is 300 higher than I got at 1 gig..
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/specs
Right below the dual core, High performance Smart Phones section. MSM8655 is our processor, it comes @ 1.0ghz, plam pre3 has the same and it comes @ 1.4ghz. The chip can take it but I think it was lowered for battery concern. I notice a lot of speed just flying through different programs when OC to 1.5, it opens them much faster, could be the I/O tweaks as well though. As for PC, mine puts out 42 gflops compared to my phones 49 mflops, still a long way off, thats 0.001% of the processing power. This phone is no slouch, so I guess it speaks more for my computers power.
sweet....im just gonna run it at 1.4 and since i have the 2750 battery i'm not gonna worry about battery life at all. i love this phone right now..

{BENCH WARS} / SETTINGS & CONFIGURATION Discussion

Just a thread to post screen shots of your Sensations Bench scores, and discuss what settings, apps, scripts, etc. you're using ,to see how far we can take our dual core and how much we can learn about optimal settings, etc. Lets see who can be the fastest and how they got there. People on Sense Roms feel free to post here too and have your Sense Wars. AOSP ROMs will almost always be higher on bench scores since there is less bogging down the system.
Benches can be manipulated.
For example- turning up the settings/overclocking to run the phone harder and at maximum rates. They may also be manipulated in other fashions. Feel free to question any score.
No SS=No proof.
Use whatever Bench you want. Antutu and CF-Bench are the standards, as Quadrant often gives crazy high or low scores on its own. Though no bench is truly accurate, because when ran at max with Airplane Mode on, they never return the same number. Leaving you to kind of weed out the bad tests and average out your score. They can be used to get a good general idea of performance related settings.
They should also be done at daily driver settings and clocks to find out what it kind of speed we can get out of our DD settings.
Be honest about your settings. This is only for fun and/or seeing what set ups/numbers/clockings work. Which save battery, etc.

[Q] Undervolting/Min Frequency

Okay so here is my question and please dont flame me but i am really interested in finding an answer and google has not helped Okay so if you have undervolted the following frequecies (192, 310, 384, 432, 486, and 540) all to 800mV then technically are they all consuming the same amount of power? And if this is true would it be better to make the min frequency 540MHz because this is using the same voltages as the 192MHz speed and it would get the job done faster because of the higher clock speed? Any help or input on the subject would be great
uhh, I don't think those voltages are actually holding. 540 mhz @ 800 mV isn't possible by ppl. Use command terminal emulator and check actual vdd table
as for the rest, 540 mhz will still use more power than 192, even at the same core voltage
A little guidance couldn't hurt please

what does this mean lol? Restate if u have another question and I'll happily assist
The last time I was playing with a frequency generator, It was determined that increasing the frequency had a direct effect on voltage.
When the voltage was adjusted back to original value, the current jumped. Sufficient to say that no matter what, the overall power consumption increased with the frequency.

if ur using fauxclocm with faux's kernel how high are u OC'd. Not that it really matters, because if u look at the vdd table he procides he set the mV values for anything I would say above 1544 rather safely, so even if u are -100mV its not much of an accomplishment.

im getting very low scores in quadrant benchmark.

i downloaded the last version of quadrant from google play and im getting very low scores with my atrix 2..
i don't have any widgets, live wallpapers , 3rd party launchers, etc that could affect the results..
my scores are:
total: 1906
cpu: 1977
mem: 2471
2d: 211
3d: 2029
the max score i've got is about 2100.. and the average for this phone must be around 2600-3000 if im not wrong, i haven't installed any custom rom, i have the stock GB 2.3.6
what could be the problem ???

There you go... that sounds right (that about what my wife's stock A2 gets).
And, yea, it can get bogged down after long periods of use without rebooting..
Moto recommends at least one reboot a day (at least they did to me when trying to troubleshoot my brick)!
Also, you can put most all of your apps on the Auto-End list in the stock Task Manager, and try Cache Cleaner from the Play Store... also good to clean up the dalivk-cache once in a while... might help keep you running smoother.

Mine ranges from 5200-5600.
I've seen scores up to 6500, how do you achieve that?
I'm using SCV7 without the latest patch (CS + Speed boost), does it change that much?
Motorola lied and I'm still locked mb865

Oh yes, latest speed boost and then the OC 1.2 after puts this phone into lightspeed. Never been more satisfied with performance on here now. Give it a go and check out the difference...n daaaammm dude look at the score above this reply...I'm sure thats on SCV7 as well with latest speed boost.
Edit: Scores were higher just now...don't know why, got more apps then first test lol. All good though.

Actually if you're referring to mine it's not scv7. It's my own custom odexed rom. Minimal tweaks done here and there but I'm pleased with it.
Edit: also I've beat that score
