Tegrak overclock app?

Anyone else use this app to overclock? Im bored at work and instead of working I just installed it and ran quadrant, which I know that's all its really good for, and hit over 1900 at 1.3 ghz. Im gonna leave it there for a bit to see if anything goes wrong...

I don't understand why anyone wants to overclock our phones? From everything I have read all it will do is decrease battery life and give higher quad scores which really mean nothing.

i think whats more important, or more NEEDED, is voltage control.
be it voltage control for OC'ing or Voltage Control for underclocking, or just dropping the voltages as low as you can go while maintaning the stock phone speeds.
this is one thing i miss about the EVO.

Because its fun. Of course there is no practical value in it I even said that. I personally just like to mess with my phone to mess with it and I'm sure others do too. does a theme make your phone run better or more efficiently are they important to practicality? No it just changes its looks so why do people do that? It's fun.

I mean...there's plenty of practical reasons to overclock, e.g. better performance in a game. But if you're sitting around playing a game for a while, I doubt your concern is battery life to begin with.

tegrak uses module overlock similar to how the dx/d2/milestone are able to oc/uv without the ability to accept custom kernels
its not ideal (for those that overclock) compared to actual custom kernels with oc steps.
that being said, overclock isnt particularly important on 1ghz and up processors..whereas the eris/og droid needed it to compensate

I am using it, overclocked to 1.3 and then using setcpu to keep it at 800. I just want to have the speed and power there if needed
edit: just got a 1719 score in quadrant on 1.3

Im doing the same, also with a profile to cap off cpu at 400 performance scaled (seems the screen sometimes doesn't want to turn on if scaled to conservative) when screen is off. I've been noticing that full charges last at least a whole day and a half with my average use

I'm on Eclair rooted w/ Voodoo and regularly pull 1800+ Quadrant scores and get a solid 12hr. of battery life with screen brightness at around 60% (easily visible outside). I have no idea why anyone would want to use an OC tool... other than to have than extra bit of control that would allow you to undervolt even further for additional battery life.

Haha he has a Verizon iPhoney and he would be like "what is all that android awesomeness? OCing and UVing? wtf?" And his boss has a mez and asks me about it all the time!

...if anyone else wants to try em, check out Fascinate Development for EC10 kernals that are for Touchwiz. Be smart and watch what you are flashing.

Offically OC'ed to 1.5 ghz

Check rom manager in the download roms section there is Drod's 1.5ghz kernal pulled 2495 quadrant thus far will play with it some more though.

1804 has already been achieved. I think were going to get a stable zone at 1.5ghz.
but really this phone even clocked at 768mhz is still blazing fast.

This is so true. I underclocked my phone to 768MHz to try out how it would work for a day. I ended up entirely forgetting I had done that until I ran a benchmark.

seeing all this is amazing, I am very tempted to try it out, but this beast is super fast with having to OC it, lol

I don't know if you're right or not but I just flashed the 1.5 kernel and at 1.4 this thing is as fast as a computer..I hope you're right because I don't wanna go back to 1ghz..
Got 2016 quadrant after a reboot which is 300 higher than I got at 1 gig..

Right below the dual core, High performance Smart Phones section. MSM8655 is our processor, it comes @ 1.0ghz, plam pre3 has the same and it comes @ 1.4ghz. The chip can take it but I think it was lowered for battery concern. I notice a lot of speed just flying through different programs when OC to 1.5, it opens them much faster, could be the I/O tweaks as well though. As for PC, mine puts out 42 gflops compared to my phones 49 mflops, still a long way off, thats 0.001% of the processing power. This phone is no slouch, so I guess it speaks more for my computers power.

sweet....im just gonna run it at 1.4 and since i have the 2750 battery i'm not gonna worry about battery life at all. i love this phone right now..

this thing is ridiculous at 1.5 I cant wait to see 2+

battery life at 1.5 seems at least the same if not better than at 1.0

Had the same CPU on my inspire - 1.6 was basically the highest I could take it without crashing.

OP will we can u make one for 2.3.3 sense so I can port this Rom also a asop 2.2 kernel for my liquidmetal plz..

Ok so I ran antutu with cm7 rc1 and morfics kernel, the jrcu kernel ,oc'ed to 1500mhz and I just got 14th and 15th in the world!! .....sick....oh andmy phone signature says HTC vision cuz I have the Netflix hack where u have to change build.prop to HTC vision.... check it.

Wow brotha no seriously wow that is a crazy score...its a huge encouragement for us to wait all this crap out and not sell out for another phone...just because this post from here on out I'm staying with Tegra powered phones...I don't care what anyone else has out there...plus future looks bright tegra 3 quadcore...thanks for sharing brotha

Thanx guys, and very nice hypmatize, your SD card read is sweet u must have an 8 class or higher cuz I think I have u beat in other parts of the test, mine is only a class 4......anyways i think our phones are just simply amazing and faux said it himself the power under tegras hood is crazy and what u can do with it I love my phone and will be staying for a while....also guys check out synergy themes for adw and cm7 there's a paid version and free in the market

5150 with the stock rom and no overclock. My sd card speeds were 9.6 write and 18.2 read. Not sure why the posted scores above are so low. You might try SD Speed Increase to bump your score. I have it set to 4096.

Damn those are some sweet scores! Way to represent the g2x!

i was able to get a score of 6940 but it placed me in 21st

I have cm7 at 1.5 but best I get is 5400. I even got da sd speed increase didn't do dat much better.I was looking at people who had over 6000 all had da 3d test over 1000 I only get like 250. Anyone did anything else to get better scores?

Yea man that dude dameon got a sick score props to him, and I tryed that sdcard speed booster, well I tryed 2 of them from the market and I tryed every option I even rebooted because it has the option to stick when the phone reboots, and man those apps didn't dent my SD speed. I wanted to try them cuz i noticed mine was kinda low after seeing some of your guys sd scores.Lol anyway I was just messing around lastnight and ran a couple Antutu tests with morfics kernel and those were the scores I got lastnight. So for just messing around I think that's pretty good, I always seem to get great scores with any benchmark app, **** I love my g2x she's been good to me, best phone out rite now hands down, I was honestly thinking about a sensation but eff that I'm staying with my g2x!!!....aka HTC vision....lol haha a g2

All it it is Android Revolution HD 1.3 with blades kernel-meh running at 1656 (because the top frequency is unstable and actually makes it slower) with the interactive governer (thought i was on ondemand but just checked again) and i used task killer to free up ram before i ran the test. I also used v6 supercharger with option 8 a few days ago but didn't really notice a difference with it. I remember in the early days of the transformer there was talk about having different quality of chips and i remember mine testing very high so that might have something to do with it as well

The highest so far was 7522 on arhd / blades -meh at 1656..
This is my latest 7154 at 1592mhz...

Looks like my 3d graphics score is much higher than yours not sure why that would be though

If you go to the thread and volunteer to test a couple apks jcarrzs said thats a way to get into the beta test group
Also my tf has never been stable over 1592 hoping maybe ics will change that for me so i could get beast scores to lol

You have to find the sweet spot for your tf dont push it to high because it becomes unstable not to low or there's no point in over clocking so its about balance

Benchmarks. I ran Antutu only after flashing / testing roms. It appears that Blades-meh kernel /ARHD has the highest score on my TF with several crashes before or during the test.
You can share your score to compare.

Here you go! First one is my stable conf, second one is just for show
(haha they show up in reverse order, obviously the stable one is the second picture )

tested guevor's test4 with 1.6mhz new kernel...
my score OCd at 1.5mhz +25mV...

People have reported their CPUs clocked at 1200mhz after the update. Mines still at 1000. Is this correct? Thanks.

Yeah buddy, stock ICS leask #1. 1200!!! I've had 4 A2's and 2 out of 4 came equipped with 1200 stock ICS. I believe it's luck of the draw man. Don't sweat it, the other two were 1000 but was able to OC both at 1200 with no bootlooping issues. GL.

They may have, putting a check in place that queries the CPU's specific ID to find out what batch it's from. If it's from a good batch, 1200, if not, 1000. That's a POSSIBILITY.

That makes sense.. I tried to OC this phone at one time and couldn't even get to 1100mhz without it freezing and doing stupid ****. I just thought I was doing something wrong. And I was so happy that I would finally be able to get to 1200mhz without having to do anything. I guess I just got the **** CPU....

Very interesting.... I wouldn't put it past Motorola to only overclock the "good" chips, nice quality assurance there Moto . First time I heard about this I just thought "Well okay, an overclock from GB stuck through to ICS, no big deal", but it's been confirmed that isn't the case. Strange how some are overclocked and some are not. A big company like Moto shouldn't have "good" batches and "bad" batches, if that is the case we will never get an official word on this, maybe it's a kind of soak test, trying the 1.2 over clock on certain phones only..... But I don't know.

I think it does something to check if your cpu is capable of being stable at the higher speed. Unfortunately, mine is still at 1000Mhz also. I was hoping for the higher speed but not so lucky.

Its not that simple of a check to determine if it can run...
- Mine bootlooped when OC'd to 1200 on 2.3.5
- Its 1200 on 4.0 fine
- Others had it OC'd to 1200 with no problem on 2.3.5
- They have it set by default to 1000 on ICS
I made a survey about this some time ago, but almost all of my theories went down the drain...
