This started off as a bit of a physics experiment, but I found it quite fun to play with and decided to turn it in to a
live wallpaper. The pictures don't really show what it's like, it's quite hard to explain, the android acts like gel and
reforms itself after you break it with your finger. The time it takes to do this, dot size, color, background color and
android size can all be change to your liking. I encourage you to try it as words and pictures don't really explain
it well, please let me know what you think! It's not my best wallpaper, but it's certainly quite unique.
Let me know if you have a new shape suggestion.
Premium version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suffick.nodepremium
Currently has a few extra features, help me make it better with your suggestions.
If anyone tests this on a tablet, please let me know if the android needs to be bigger, thanks.

@suffick : first of all a big 'hahahahhahahahahah' because i just loved the idea.. i downloaded and installed the app. The only thing is that i would love to get more live wallpaper like these.
I never used live wallpaper because of battery drain but this app would really force me to use it

It is not really laggy but at times feel distorted. Meaning the dots scatter here and there. rather it should be a bit smooth while scatter or what you call leaving its original position.

Yea, I may be able to improve it a little but not by much, but to be able to process that many touch points in such a short amount of time the device needs to be lightning fast. I'll see if I can improve it. Glad you like it.

thanks man, i haven't come across any bugs as of now:good:
some suggestions:
more supported images. if you can.
option to add user photos by somehow playing with saturation and threshold perhaps(i'm not sure how exactly this may be done)
anyway nothing less than 5 stars

Thank you very much.
That's a good idea, although it may be laggy depending on the image, I'll play around with it and see.
v1.2
- Huge performance improvement, you should be able to drag your finger across the screen much faster without the skipping effect.
- Added the option to alter touch size (the area of effect when you touch the screen).
- Added the option to toggle random dot placement on start.
- Increased the dot size and spacing range for larger screens.

Thanks! I like your version better. I wish there was more particles but my phone just isn't fast enough.
Well, I hate Java and I love C/C++, so I might end up porting this to use JNI. This would probably be one of those areas where using C++ for particle movement could really make a big difference. Thank you.
Very cool.
I noticed you said it's "as fast as I could get it", but you're using postDelayed with 50ms intervals, which limits the refresh rate to 20Hz.
I changed that to 17ms, and added a simple fps display to test - it seems to max out around 30fps on my phone.

Yeah I found 20hz seemed to be the best compromise between animation speed and not using so much cpu time that the phone slows down to a crawl. Different phones might be able to run it faster though.

Exotic Colors is a one of a kind application. First of all, it is a catalogue of over 700 named colors (e.g. Terra cotta, Beaver, Atomic tangerine). Also, it is a handy mobile “picker” – if you need to determine a color right here right now – just take a photo and analyze the color.
Use Exotic Colors to:
- learn new color names that you never imagined before
- analyze colors: determine names, convert to HSV, RGB, CMYK, XYZ etc. systems, see complementary, triadic colors, and much more
- save colors and create palettes
- share your palettes with friends/colleagues/customers via social networks, e-mail etc.
Requires Android: 2.2+
Size: 2.0 Mb
Supported languages: English & Russian
Available via Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anovoxer.exoticcolors
We appreciate your opinion for it will help us improve, so please do not hesitate to comment on our app!
As a photographer and web designer I'm liking the sound of this app. Especially since it can help identify and correlate colors into complementary etc, which is extremely helpful in designing layouts and schemes.
I'll check it out and rate it ASAP Just wanted to post since no responses yet, but looks nice!
Thank you! Hope you'll like it even more after you've tried it
I like it, its UI might could use some polish but it was intuitive enough first thing for me, and I'm not great at GUIs so not sure what to suggest. But intuitive enough to not be a big deal.
I pointed it around the office a bit, and while of course we're at the mercy of our camera for taking shots, the ability to load an image and analyze it is great. I'd most likely use it in that mode anyway since I don't really trust cameras on phones/tablets.
One suggestion.. Can you leave the pointer in the same place when scrolling an image, so one can use that to scroll an image to that spot? Tapping to move it is good, I like that. But if I've already set a spot and want to just move it a little bit, it'd be nice to be able to just scroll the image a little to that spot.
No functional issues, but some drawing issues. Nexus 7, haven't tried it on my phone. So all the info is there, but it's not quite drawn in the right place.
Thank you for the detailed feedback!
We will consider your suggestion about locking the picker in place :good: and then this drawing issue you highlighted (strange though that it draws like this, should have been fine... Anyway, thanks, we will try to fix it ).
Very nice very handy

Laboratory
I like this app a lot, one of the things though that caught was the Laboratory. The one thing I would personally suggest here is have it so that you can put your finger on the screen and drag the cursor around as well as tap to position it without moving the color pattern around the screen.
Very well done app, I've only got one other that comes close to this and that's the myPantone. Keep up the great work!
There are multiple times when I wished there was an app like this and now I'm so glad there is. Thanks so much!
Handy. Thanks
This app is beyond awesome! Good work! How do you share the saved colors?
Useful, thanks.
Minor issues, if you're interested:
1. does not cooperate with "Camera Zoom FX" (camera replacement app). App does not return after taking the photo. The app can do that, it works with Google Keep.
2. On the start screen, the two small square buttons are slightly stretched horizontally, and the right edge does not align with the other buttons.
Tested on four Xperia Rays (a specialty: the Ray reports a 480x854 240dpi screen, but it is really 300dpi).
Layout is ok on stock GB. It is stretched on stock ICS and two CM10 roms
3. At first try, I was panning the photo, expecting that the fixed crosshair would be the color picker. I would actually prefer it that way, because panning is more precise than tapping with my fingers
a bit confused, before i install this, i have a question:
if i take a picture, then open the app, will it be able to automatically tell me the color of the thing in the picture, or will i have to manually search for it?
Is the background of the color picker supposed to move around? Doesn't feel right.
And, please add a lighten/darken color button or slider in the Laboratory.
Hi XDA community,
As you might be able to tell from the title, I wrote a Tic Tac Toe app as an exercise. I had only briefly looked at Android development previously, but never actually had a finished app published before.
If anyone has the time, would you mind trying the app out and putting up a review here or on the Google Play site? I'm new to this and would like as much criticism I can get from anyone. I also wouldn't mind help on getting more people to download the app, as that will bring it up in the rankings and hopefully others will download it as well.
Here is the link in case you decide to try the app out: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alex.tictactoe
Anyways, thanks in advance and enjoy your day =)

That's strange. I don't know why it would hang like that. ... The layout looks fine. The app seems to scale well across various density screens. Have you tried the hard level? You can switch levels through the Menu. I should make a settings activity and put it as a third button in the front screen. I'll look into why it hangs though.
Well, i didnt try the hard level, but i will.
Edit: Its laggy only the first time i start or if its cleared from memory. After some time, it starts running good.
Hard mode is nice.

I'll keep Hard mode as it is then.
The program "programmatically" makes a small database table to store the scores. This should happen every time the data is cleared. But that shouldn't be causing too much of lag. I'm not sure how I can tweak the database though.
Don't worry too much. My phone is low and i got used with laggy games. If you can fix the layout for my screen it would be great.
But you can make a settings activity or tell the users they can change the difficulty from menu, a toast for the first time they play for example.

From your earlier screenshot, it seems the bottoms gets cut off? Your phone is more squarish. I could make a layout for smaller screens with smaller text. That might work.

Yes. Maybe if you get off the title and make those two buttons smaller, clear board and reset scores, it will be ok. Also, you can put them in the menu.
Thanks for looking at the app ComfyMobile!.
eliboy, I am currently working on another app and don't have time to alter the Tic Tac Toe app. I hope you understand. However, thank you for the input. If I decide to go back and rework some parts of the app, I'll keep in mind the "square" resolutions as well. Thanks!

Best game
I tried it for a few minutes and the actual game looks quite smooth, BUT on my Nexus5 it was almost impossible to grab a stick and to place it somewhere else. Furthermore, I would like to see a better contrast (maybe just more transparance) on the free places. It waas quite hard to read the current equation.
Keep it going, seems like a nice caual brainy game

What is screen size for your device and if you can provide me with a screenshot from your device, I will really appreciate that
And what do you mean with "more transparance"?
Hi,
my device is a nexus 5 ... so 5" with 1080 x 1920px.
With more transparent I mean, that the available fields, where you can drop a stick, are so dark that it makes it hard to read the current equation.
By the way in the first level I wanted to make "9 - 3 = 6" and it says WRONG

I think this is a large screen!! Also about transparent , you can use light sticks as they are very clear and light to read the equation easily
About level 1 it is 8 - 3 = 3. and you just have one move then if you move left bottom stick on eight to put it on 3 it will not be 6
You need additional move to get right top stick on 3 to the left but you have one move only
... yeah it helps to know how a six looks like sorry, was my fault.

I love matches puzzles in real life and so do I love your game as well! In my opinion, it is quite hard to control on a 5 inch screen, however. Mainly because the matches are too small. I would recommend landscape instead of portrait screen format. Maybe one could also thing about some different control sheme. Especially the "green" when you can put down one match does not help much, since it is completely hidden under my fat fingers

1. Are you talking about a lag in the animation or the loading of the list? I'm working on a different implementation for the list but I haven't seen any animation lag myself
2. That makes sense! I'll add it to my planned feature list maybe something like a longpress menu in the settings screen? with options to rename, view info etc.
Maybe it's just my phone. I'll try it on another fresh device as well as a fresh install on mine, and report back.

Looks interesting for sure. Quick and efficient.

It was my phone causing the lag.
Will you post updates to this thread before the Play Store, or how will you do it?
Love it so far.
Very minimal.

To be honest, I'm pretty new to being a developer
I'll stick to updating on the play store itself for now, but I'll drop a post every time an update is pushed
As I say that, I've pushed an update adding the ability to "rename apps" should be visible in 24 hours at the latest
Wonderful. When I get the update, I will test and report back
Also, how about the ability to "hide" apps from the list.
For people with plenty of apps, the scroll list could take awhile.
If this is implemented, it would be perfect for me.

I'm unsure of the reference there but I got it from the Adobe Spark Post Icon library. I had searched for meditation , and this is one of the 'mudras' in yoga if I'm not mistaken.

Yes! That's one of the things that actually got me into making a minimalist launcher.
Very few minimalist launchers have that ability and the implementation is quite, for lack of a better word, wonky.
I've been working on a couple of different ways to do it. Should be ready in a week, hopefully
