Hi,
I know that the Rogers version of One X (700, 1,700, 2,100 MHz LTE) is different to the international One XL (800, 1,800, 2,600 MHz LTE), but on the Rogers website:
"If you are using a mobile phone that you have purchased outside of Canada or from a different carrier, you may be able to use it with Rogers as long as it is "unlocked"
Things to know:
1. Your device must be compatible with the Rogers network, which uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz, or LTE technology at 2100/2600 MHz AWS...

Does this mean that the international One XL will get LTE on Rogers?
Thanks in advance
yes, check coverage here http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.po...true&setLanguage=en&template=wireless_network
Based on Rogers 2600 MHz spectrum available in majority of sectors within Rogers LTE coverage areas; in sectors where 2600 MHz is not available, device will seamlessly fallback to 2100 MHz.

Why not get it directly from Rogers?
Rogers is only 16gb if I'm not mistaken?
We have a 32gb version...

Dropbox fixes that though. Load what you want in the cloud then pull it when you need or want it. I have the 16gb Telus version and have no issues with storage

32gb version makes more sense, to be honest... but just watch out with 2600Mhz... (reception wise) 'cos no current phones in Canada running on this LTE frequency as of yet, i believe... the LG Optimus G will be the first one http://redboard.rogers.com/tag/600-mhz-spectrum/
Dropbox only fixes it if your provider gives you a good chunk of data or you have unlimited...
I only get 2gb a month then get charged extra once I go over...
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
I get 1gb per month and have never gone over. There are plenty of free hotspots depending on where you live (tim's, Starbucks, McDonald's) where you can pull files without having to use your data. I agree that the 32 makes more sense, but is it worth the cost of importing it just for the storage? Just my 2 cents.

The thunderbolt is not a gsm phone which is what t-mobile network is, so it will never work.

Further added, the band of LTE is 700, while GSM carriers use 850, 1900. So no, it absolutely won't work.

Hi all
Just a quick question about the radio and flashing.
I understand that when a device is flashed to a custom ROM, that a radio is cooked in. (am I correct?)
Now my situation is this. I live in Australia, and am thinking of purchasing a 2nd hand Inspire 4G (AT&T) from the US, but from my research, due to the Inspire's (from AT&T) frequencies being 850/1900, this causes a small problem in Australia, where only telstra's NextG network operates on this band.
So in effect, I would be limited to NextG if I had this phone in Australia. the other major carrier here (optus) uses 900/2100.
Not a biggie right now as I use telstra nextg, but I may want to change.
So, question would be, when a phone is flashed, can I change the radio via the ROM, or is the frequencies a phone uses controlled by hardware?
thanks.
It's hardware mate.

now to decide if its worth it.....can get one pretty cheap compared to here in Australia.
Check out tmobile I don't recall the bands they use but they sell the desire HD which is the Inspire 4G for them.
Edit: http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-desire-hd/#specs
Looks like it is 900/2100
So now the question is, what provider will you stick to in Australia

Yeah its a tough decision ...I'm going to be moving soon to study, and where I'm going both carriers are good, but telstra is prob the dearest. Where I currently live needs telstra and I get a sim card through work (I use my own phone though)
So I basically need a 850 phone for 3 months then I can use whatever .......
I just bought one and I am on Telstra. I also have a desire hd. Inspire in my opinion is the best choice.
Inspire can still run on Optus. My missus uses it occasionally with no issues.

So as of tonight I bought a HTC Merge on ebay. Is it gonna be able to work on T-Mobile at all. I ddon't care about it being edge. I just want it to work because its a bad ass phone. I really love this phone and can't wait for it. But I wanna use it. I Googled it. And it has the frequencies match for edge. Please let me know.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium
I found root and s off for it. Which is a plus. And a few roms aand unlock codes.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium
Yeah. it should. It's only going to be EDGE though. So, don't be shocked, and it's also got a single core 800mhz processor.
that's not bad. Its comparable to the G2. And yeah edge. Was expecting that. my only phones right now are currently edge. I'm use to it now. I have wifi at home and work. Do you know of anyone who's using a us cellular merge with T-Mobile
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium
And is it possible to do software wise. Or would I have to get the code via blowfish Unlocks?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium
Well. I got my Merge unlocked and rooted. And it just says no service. So does anyone know of something that can mod it to work?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE Z715e with Beats Audio
You're gonna have to ask some Merge experts on that. Surely theres something special you have to do because its provisioned as a CDMA phone by default. You probably have to do something for it to recognize your SIM properly for GSM.
Probably. Honestly. I found one on Craigslist that the dude was running on tmobile and I tried to find it just about an hour ago and now I can't. So I couldn't ask him. But I tried to contact one guy who was in the merge dev. Or at least he was

It IS the G2...
The G2, Desire Z, Vanguard, and Merge is actually called "HTC Vision". But the Merge never had the Z hinge that the G2 and Desire Z had. But that's why they all have the 2nd Gen 800Mhz Snapdragon.
The thing about the Merge is, it was meant to be the HTC Vision for Verizon, but Verizon never let it be released in their stores. I think US Cellular has it right now though, and it is completely compatible with Verizon's network. So the Merge is like the long lost brother of the G2 and Desire Z.
Anyways to answer your question, your HTC Merge will be able to be serviced under T-Mobile (and even At&t) according to phonescoop.

CDMA 850 / 1900
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
WCDMA 2100
I really like how it has both GSM AND CDMA radios
-EDIT-
I remember on my cousin's Droid 2 Global, have you tried to go to Settings and Wireless settings and then you had to change something from like "CDMA only" or "GSM only"?
Yeah I tried my att sim. It says no service. I have the u.s cellular one. Temp rooted with visionary. I sim unlocked it too

And I did GSM/ umts dual. Then selected GSM only.

Was there an option to deactivate CDMA or EVDO completely?
Yeah I did *#*#4636#*#* and did GSM only. Then hit menu. Then us frequency

A rom might be nice. I'm only temp rooted. Got a link? Id wonder if s-off root and a rom would do me well. I remember with my droid incredible 2 when I rooted it via revolutionary it worked on tmobile. I wish the merge was the same. I love the merge more
Sent from my ADR6325 using XDA App
And mine is sim unlocked. Temp rooted. Stock 2.2 us cellular rom. And now it doesn't say no service. It says emergency calls only.

I have one and I'm using a tmobile sim card, and everything works fine. Its the radio, you have to flash a different radio to get it working

Which is the difference between the Galaxy S III Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T. Which model is sold in Greece?
None of them should be sold in Greece, the international version is though. T-Mobile's is for their gsm network and Sprint's is for theirs, etc.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
The US models are capable of LTE, except for T-Mobile's, but they all use the Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor instead of the Exynos Quad-Core. The i9300 is sold outside of the US and Canada.
is the international model faster than the US model?
Yes it is, but you won't notice it unless you're gaming. The S4 processor is still fast, but I prefer having the original design with the Exynos. Also bragging rights; it's quad-core. I prefer the i9300 also because it gets updates first.

However the Korean version got best of both but no developers
Korean
Exynos quad core cpu
2gb ram
Lte
The rest is the same as far as I know. Only the fm radio won't work due to different bands

Battery life will suffer during LTE usage though because the LTE radio is separate from the rest of the SoC (like the HTC Thunderbolt had). Also, the i9305 is the same as the Korean version but for Europe's Vodafone (LTE is Euro only though).

Hi there,
Can someone tell me the 3G speed of HTC One S C2? Because when I search in Google it displays Speeds upto 14mbps for One S(intl version) but it is no where mentioned about the S3 processor speed. They inform just like HSDPA but no mention of exact speeds. Sorry for asking such noob question though

internet speed does not depends on processor but on network. (as per my knowledge)
I think the max speed that the VilleC2 can get is HSPA+ 21mbps, and the Ville is 42mbps (although the VilleC2 may be 42mbps aswell). I found on HSPA+ that the speed is more than adequate, rivalling my friends iPhone 5 on LTE.
Oh thanks buddy I thought my Ville C2 would be a mere 7.2mbps but thank god u gave a great info :thumbup:

Actually my brother is using HTC butterfly and he gets a minimum speed of 5 to 6 Mbps on Airtel Network in India, whereas i too use the same network from same place but i could clock only 2 to 2.5 Mbps on my HTC One S C2 (Courtesy: Speedtest mobile app). So will it make any difference if its a LTE band handset like Butterfly and Non LTE band handset like my HTC One S C2???
