Same type of performance, but this screen is freaking awesome. So love this guy. Acer used to remind me of low end crap. Not with guy. Best choice I have made in a long time.

Glad to hear your pleased with the device, with demandarin selling Asus so hard over there I'm surprised you made the switch . Hope you enjoy it as much as I do, backing up my blue rays now with bated breath!

I currently have Prime and thinking about selling to get either this or Asus Infinity. Haven't made up my my mind yet. The biggest turn off for me with A700 is the lack of any upgrade (except screen) over A510.

Agree. Absolutely amazing. Finally back at Android again after having some really bad experiences with the prime. Bought an iPad 3. Was impressed by the screen but missed the Android OS. Feel like I'm back home Impressive screen, nice performance. My only gripes:
Screen sensitivity : even at the highest sensitivity setting it fails sometimes to register some taps .... Guess i need to get accustomed to this and tap a little harder. Then again...
Rendering of web pages: in general web pages look awesome, but on pages with a lot of text and/or graphics you see the dynamic rendering of the fonts/graphics to a higher resolution. Sometimes you need to wait before things are readable.
But all in all, a great tablet.

I'm glad to hear you guys are enjoying it. The one concern I had was screen brightness...any issues there to report? I don't really plan to use it outside.

The auto-brightness doesn't seem to work terribly well. Seems to put the screen "dimmer" than I personally care for.
I reset it to a static "30%" brightness or so, and it's fine for me now.
I did go out in direct sunlight (beautiful day out), to test screen readability. Cranked up to 75% and was good to go.

Good to hear. I have a 16GB Gtab 10.1 right now and my biggest gripe is the screen resolution and storage. It sounds like this is a bargain at $450.

What about responsiveness?

I had fears of lag too from the YouTube video that was out pre release. While I was syncing the first 12 hours there was some noticeable delay. Especially with app drawer. But 36 hrs in I can say its as snappy as I would expect it to be, especially for 450 and a 10 to 11 hour battery life. Can't beat the performance for the price

With a good light situation (outside for example) the cam is fine.
Inside pictures seem to be a little grainy.

I'm noticing a lot of lag using ezPDF Reader Pro. I almost considered returning it to Acer until I saw the 25% restocking fee. I've been using an iPad 1 for the last few weeks to view Army regs in PDF format, and the iPad was much quicker at page-turns, etc.
One of the YouTube reviews talked about a possible update from Acer to optimize performance. Pure speculation, I'm sure, but that would be nice. I also heard that the Andriod OS isn't optimized for quad-core processors yet.

If the reviewer got the test unit from Acer, perhaps that was said to avoid upsetting Acer and future test units? Seems the Tegra 3 gpu was not intended for such high res displays, based on benchmarks compared to the A5X. Not seeing how this can be fixed by software, unless the actual data is downsampled to lower the load on the GPU (defeats the purpose of the high res, but would people really notice?).

I am seriously considering the upgrade from the Prime to the Infinity. Its going to cost me $125-150, but already have the dock so that will make things less painful.
Is the screen, slightly faster processor, and overall experience worth the jump?

I've found my Infinity to be much more stable. My Prime was incredibly unstable and had very bad screen corruption and flickering on the later firmware, downgrading the firmware fixed that issue on the Prime though. The screen on the Infinity is very nice, but you probably won't notice the increased resolution except with text where it makes a very (to me) noticeable difference. The latest firmware update has seems to make multi-tasking smoother and given it a general sensation of being faster. I have a Nexus 7 and Jelly Bean makes everything very liquid smooth feeling so I have every expectation of Jelly Bean giving that same feel to the Infinity. The less tapered edge on the Infinity is actually very nice. It's more comfortable to hold and the micro sd card is completely inside the frame.
All said and done I think the Infinity is everything the Prime should have been. If you can upgrade for <$150 difference then go for it.

I have been able to upgrade utilizing the file Asus posts on their service site for each update. As to my Ipad vs. TF700T the screens are for all practical purposes identical. Speed of all functions other than web browsing are identical (I have several applications that are the same function but for IOS or Android). Web browsing is not a tie my Ipad3 is more fluid than the TF700T. I expect that will even out with the release of Jelly Bean for the TF700T. I am waiting until that upgrade to see but if equal after Jelly Beans release then most likely my Ipad3 will be sent to Ebay to get some extra cash for the next Asus tablet release in 2013!

Thanks for the feedback. My prime has been rock solid, other than the app stutter / bluetooth issues that most have experienced. I normally upgrade every 18-24 months. Trying to justify the 7 month upgrade here. Thanks.

Glad to here the positive experience when compared to the ipad.

I too upgraded for EUR 105,- and it's worth every cent!
The screen is to much better and sharper. Reading forums in portrait mode is no problem now. On the prime it often got to crappy to read and I had to zoom in.
Furthermore it feels faster and it's definitely more stable.Finally no more Wifi issues and SD card won't eject anymore.
Also HDMI port is better designed.

I upgraded and received my Infinity yesterday. Overall, it is a much nicer tablet. I really think this is what the prime should have been when it launched. I have much better wifi and GPS reception, and the screen is much nicer to look at. Another thing that most people aren't mentioning is that the SD card actually fits in the tablet now!
That being said, I'm still having problems (even after the .26 update) running ShadowGun. The game works fine it I've just rebooted the tablet, but after several applications have been launched, I can't get past the first shot or two before the game freezes. You can still hear the game playing in the background, but the screen bounces back and forth between 2 frames. Maybe someone has a fix?
Anyway, yes, I am happy coming from the Prime.

I never owned a Prime (cancelled pre-order) so can't compare the two but from all the negative reports from the users, I can definitely say that the 700 is the most worthy successor to the 101. This is my gaming tablet and with just a few exceptions will be loaded with nothing but Tegra 3 games and full HD apps. The speed and resolution of the 700 is just right for 1080p movies, it plays the streamed .mkv files like it was coming from the sdcard! So smooth and lag free.
No way the Prime's 1280x800 can match the 700's display, no contest there but of course there will be an additional power drain to contend with so power regulation is a must.

I exchanged and updated my 201 for 700 this week. Other than having an issue doing and OTA update (which is a serial number issue again with ASUS! I was able to update manually with no problem) I am very happy I did so. In the last 48 hours I have not had any issues, which I always did with prime. I use mine for work and play although I do not really play intense games on the device. WIFI is tons better and GPS is rock solid. I did compare my screen with my daughters ipad 3 and even she was impressed with the quality. She is an apple fanatic but even she sees where being locked down in the apple OS world has its limitations as compared to android. Glad she learned something in college!

I finally pulled the trigger and sold my Prime for the Infinity on Craigslist today. Went to Best Buy hoping to find tf700 with no luck. Fortunately for me the employee I was speaking to was very friendly and found one available at one of the other bb locations 23 miles away! Though a display model I still wanted it. I purchased it ahead of time and drove 23 miles to pick it up. When I got there. They took it off the display and showed me the scratch marks on the back plate and the slab of adhesive they used to keep the tablet connected that they couldn't peel away. Then I noticed that the label says tf201!!!! Mother [email protected]#ker!! The employee that said that they had one available mistakenly thought that that was the tf700 because it was so similar!!! The employee explained it to me and apologized. I said I drove for 45 mins to get here and was assured that you guys had the tf700!!! I was very upset. The guy was scared and looked around... finally he found one in the store!!! It was reserved for someone else that paid online. I ended up with a new tf700 and not a display model!!! Lol Apparently the person that ordered online had cancelled his order after checking the system and I was very fortunate to come out of BB with a brand new tf700!! So far loving the new toy.

I exchanged my C1 Prime at Best Buy which GPS was dead when I bought it and ended up with a C7 Infinity. Wifi/BT/GPS were great, however vibration, haptic feedback was dead out of the box. Attempted trying to toggle the settings but still nothing on power up/down, etc. It also couldn't find the OTA when I tried to update and I had to install .26 from my microsd which I take it is this issue here.
Took it back yesterday. Pretty bummed since my major issue with 201 was wifi/BT problems using my headset and music/netflix but it seemed good on the 700. Overall it seemed better than the Prime but that's not saying much .. Asus still has some pretty bad QC in my opinion

I've had my Infinity for a week now since I got my prime refunded. To echo a previous comment in this thread, this is what the prime should have been and what I expected it to be. Everything just works and the screen is absolutely beautiful. My prime never got a GPS lock, and running Bluetooth to my Thunderbolt for Tablet Talk would make my internet slow so an unusable crawl on the Prime. Here on the infinity I can stream music while browsing the web or XDA and texting. Used it successfully a few times for navigation while tethered; got a GPS lock nearly as fast as my phone locks. Plus it fits more snugly in my 201 dock than my Prime did. My only gripe is that the battery has not been quite as epic as my Prime, but it has been more than sufficient for daily use.

I'm sure you're already aware, but if not...that if you purchased your Prime tablet from Best Buy you can actually exchange it for an Infinity by way of One year manufacturer warranty.

How is internet browsing faster? Thats my problem with the prime sluggish.

This is what I was expecting when I bought Prime. GPS and Wi-Fi work great. Screen crisp and clear. Camera takes really good pics. Had 2 primes, both had terrible picture quality. Gone into settings a few times and did update check, won't show one. No biggie, I'll d-load and push. Rooted fine.
Only complaint is, battery doesn't last as long as primes did.
Overall, very pleased. Especially since I had best buy damage warranty and they gave me Infinity free.

This is what the prime should have been! WFI,GPS, works. Had it for 24hrs, so far so good

I never really had problems with my prime (except bad GPS and pixels), but I exchanged it anyways for an infinity. I have to say the infinity is really what the prime should have been, the screen resolution is amazing, it's fast, GPS works and I even notice better wifi connections. I had to root the prime and tweak the hell out of it to get it to perform anywhere near what the infinity does right out of the box. Oh and its the first asus tablet I've had the does not have dead pixels.

As title says, which one would you prefer. I'm on 4.1.1 so I won't be able to flash nvflash with my asus infinity. How big is the risk for me to unlock then install cleanrom?

If you do it right, no risk really, (maybe .1%, but this come with anything). I have been testing like uninstall/reinstall/reformat/switching internal memory to sdcard/downgrade/upgrade/incremental upgrade/flashing kernels about at least 20 times and mine is running top notch.

and you don't have nvflash? I'm just debating whether or not to unlock it, because once I do I can't really sell it to get the nexus 10. I feel like the nexus 10 will have more dev support over the years...however I will stick with the tf700 if it performs better than the n10 with cleanmod and with an overclock

Although don't do it just because.
If you really are trying to talk yourself into a Nexus then it might be better to leave the TFI as is.
Are you happy overall with the TF700T?

Yes, CleanRom and Clemsyn and data2sd really make this thing worth more than $500. I'm very happy with it. When I first purchased the device, my wife and kids refused to use it due to performance and broswer, now they're fighting to grab it.

I am personally running clean and oc and it is awesome, but hard to compare to something that no one has in their hands. If you are unsure just wait. check out the 10 then go from there. my decision to unlock was based on the external sd and dock. Nexus will have options too , but I decided to hang on to my 700 and getting my kids nexus 7's for xmas so I will have some nexus fun too...

I have to say with CleanROM and the newest Clemsyn's I no longer consider my TFI a clunker...

The biggest risk is that any future hardware failure will be very expensive for you (if you want a working TF700 back).

I'm on paranoid Android with Clemsyn's CM10 based kernel. No data to sd and I love it! Super fast. My tablet feels rock solid. I don't understand why some complain about build quality. I love the slim sexy look. Can't wait to get my micro sd to try data to sd. Hearing how awesome it is will make this thing crazy good. I wouldn't own a tablet or phone I couldn't hack on. I love development and it's quickly turned into my favorite hobby the past couple years

i dont like mine at all and want a nexus 10. i shoudlnt have to unlock void this and the other i just want something that works. i do a lot of flashing on my htx one x to get it where it "should be" while all my friends just buy their ipad 4 and have zero things to do on them, just use them as intented. i stick to android because i need it to do a load more than iOS can give me but damn sometimes i wish google would just make a stable version. oh wait. its called a nexus 10. lol and theres no luck in selling these things. who knows about a transformer infinity ? resale value is low >_>

This is Engadget's verdict about the Nexus 10:
"At under $400, the Nexus 10 is a compelling package, but despite that display it can't quite muster best-in-class performances across the charts. In fact, other than a relative lack of resolution (1,920 x 1,200 vs. this guy's 2,560 x 1,600) the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 is, we think, an overall better package. It's thinner, lighter, faster, has a much better camera, offers better battery life (particularly if you opt for the keyboard dock) and, frankly, we'd take the brightness and contrast of that 600 nit, Super IPS+ panel over this one with its extra pixels.
What does ASUS's offering lack? Well, Android 4.2 for one thing, but as we've shown above you're just an aftermarket keyboard app away from getting the best that has to offer right now. And, the Nexus 10 does have a lower starting price of $399 for a 16GB model. The cheapest we were able to find the TF700 currently is $477 -- but that's for 32GB, so it's actually $20 cheaper than the 32GB Nexus 10. Plus, the TF700 offers expandable storage.
The Nexus 7 impressed us on nearly every front. What few flaws there were we more than forgave thanks to its bargain-basement price. At $400 to $500, the Nexus 10 is actually on par with many other 10-inch Android competitors -- even a little more expensive than some -- and, with average performance in most areas and sub-par battery life, it's relying on that incredibly high resolution and fresh Android build to set it apart. Sadly, neither is enough to distance this tablet from the competition.
The resolution is indeed quite nice but in many ways, the Super IPS+ panel on the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 is even nicer, and other than that new keyboard there's nothing much in Android 4.2 to get excited about right now. Of course, the true beauty of the Nexus line is that when 4.3 rolls around this slate will be the first to get it, and that is certainly worth something. But is it worth enough to make up for this tablet's other shortcomings?"

First, it sounds like the OP already has a TF700. For someone that's going to have to take a loss to get a N10 the question of which to get is different than someone just looking to buy a tablet. It also depends on what OP does with his tablet. The one place where the N10 will blow anything else out there away is gaming. Teg3 is a fifteen month old 40nm A9 chip and in the TF700 it's running at its maximum resolution output. The Mali in the N10 has 2/3 more memory bandwidth and that's huge. For consumption, browsing, and utility type stuff it doesn't make sense to go from a TF700 to a N10.
For someone looking for a new tablet unless they need the keyboard, extended battery life, Super IPS display, and expandable storage it makes no sense to buy a TF700 over a N10. The N10's designed by Google and built by Samsung so it will run well out of the box, be built well, have great service and support, and be updated regularly well in to the future. And it costs less too.
And 95% of people buying a tablet don't know what a bootloader is so what they get out of the box is what they're going to have to live with. To get competitive performance out of the TF700 you guys on this forum have done some of the best work I've seen on XDA. But at the end of the day your $499 tablet costs $649 ($499+$100 SquareTrade for voiding warranty+$50 Class 10 SD card for data2SD to fix read/write issues) which is almost the same price as the most expensive tablet available: the 64GB iPad. And even after that it doesn't have 5GHz dual-channel Wi-Fi, BT4.0, Glonass-support, NFC, and other more modern features. So for a non-XDA audience not needing or wanting the TF700's extra features they'll have a far better experience with a stock N10.
Without unlocking, rooting, and risking file corruption the TF700's performance isn't really competitive. Here's a stock TF700 on the latest JB update vs. a stock Note 10.1 on yesterday's JB release. I can't imagine the N10 in final shippable form on pure 4.2 won't at least match the Note's performance. And if someone applied the same SQL tweaks and other things you've guys have had to do to the Note 10.1 the vast difference in stock performance would carry through when looking at them tweaked vs. tweaked. The difference being no one's done it because it's not necessary. And you know the dev community for the N10 will be huge and they'll be able to get a lot more out of the N10 matching or exceeding your gains over stock.
So which to pick depends on whether someone's willing to heavily modify their device to make it perform well, whether more modern features matter, how big a deal the non-expandable storage is on the N10, and how important Asus' unique features are. There’s really no one-size-fits-all answer if you’re being objective.

It basically boils down to what features will end out being most important to you in your day to day use.
I too seroiusly considered ditching the TF700 for the N10 but when I weighed out the benifits of the N10 compared to what I would be sacrifing I just could not get myself to pull the trigger.
I can not count the amount of times I have had to turn on that super ips switch and slide it to Max. The benifit of the N10's higher resolution and faster processor would be moot in this situation if I cant veiw the display.

I myself am considering switching to a GNote 10.1 from my t700. Gaming and just the I/o in general seems more smooth on the note. Just sucks its such an expensive tablet for what you get.
I am worried about unlocking, because even with a square trade warranty once your manufacture warranty is void, so I'd your squaretrade. Also your square trade does not go into effect until the year on your regular warranty...so if your unlocked I guess you better hope you don't have an issue for the first year

Nice read. OP wondering what you've decided with. I'm stuck too. Love the form factor of the t700 with keyboard but I feel its very outdated processor. N10 is a beast when it comes to gaming. Butter smooth.

I am on the fence as well and I am an android noob with a stock TF700 plus dock still returnable at BB.
I have seen you here and in the Nexus 10 forum and was wondering if you bought one. I mostly browse and watch movies, so not sure if the TF700 is going to be to much for a starter noob like me. BarryH has some great points.
I chose Android to try and get away for all the proprietary issues with the Apple brand... I feel the walls closing in on that idea!
I would at least like to root and have some say over MY tablet and deny some of these insane permissions that are being asked.

I have both. I like the nexus 10 for gaming and it just works. Everything is smooth. Tf700 is not as smooth and do lag from time to time but the keyboard dock is its selling point IMO. For browsing and watching movies the tf700 is good.
Also to add I just unlocked and running cleanrom inheritance with clemsey kernel and it still lags here and there.

I finally unlocked and with cleanrom inheritance along with clemsey kernel 1.8ghz with 650 gpu. IMO n10 is still smoother and faster. Not to say the tf700 didn't improve but I do still see frame rate drop often and games are smoother but not butter smooth like the n10. The n10 gpu is just a beast.

With Black Friday, I plan to buy the note 10.1. One problem is that Ive read there are some performance issues such as stuttering, at least according to reviews.
Obviously with custom roms, Im sure its a lot better and so I would like to confirm this.
With custom roms, are there any issues still left with the note 10.1, or can it even be on par with the nexus 10.

Look around here, and see how many people are complaining about stutering... I'm mostly on power saving and I have no issues. I've tried custom jb and I find stock ics to be much fluent. If you want full s pen functionality you have to stick with stock.

Muh? What S-pen functionality is missing in custom JB? Everything seems to be working fine for me.
As for the review comments of stuttering - that seems to have to do with the fact that most big review sites review pre-release models (in order to get their reviews out before the product hits the market). More often than not, there are slowdowns that are fixed in the final version of the firmware, that don't always make it out before the reviewers get their hands on the product.

I prefer stock. The reviewers are paid by apple I think. Joking, but Jesus... okay, so they're right about one thing: it may be a niche device. Unless you're an artist or a profuse note taker...or like presentation/doodle/brainstorming presentations.... you may do better with a nexus 10. Higher res, direct Google updates, etc.
I love the note. I draw alot on it. In fact, I've been drawing more on this in the past 6 weeks than I have in a sketchpad in the past 6 months.
I'm glad the thing has a plastic back. It'd be too heavy with a metal one, and really there are wireless interference issues with metal casings...iPad, transformer, original galaxy tab...
Just get a screen protector...even though the glass is gg2, there's an extremely sensitive oleophobic coating on it that scratches way too easily. Also, a skin or a case would be recommended, though steer clear of cases with magnets, as it will mess with the Wacom digitizer, which relies on magnets in the stylus to registermposition and pressure sensitivity.

I have alwaysbeen somewhat confounded by the stuttering comments. Have never seen this to be an issue. Regardless if the tablet ever behins to lag a bit just clear the memory and you should be fine. Sometimes the memory can get a bit loaded up after a lot of multitasking.

There are no slutters on the stock rom and its pretty good there have been lots of discussion on the same topic if you still feel there are remove the samsung useless widgets from the screen

First thing I did was get rid of all the widgets on the homescreen, I didn't even bother doing anything else before I did that.
There is no stutter, at all, anywhere, in ICS itself. In Multi-view, there is a lag when switching between apps left to right but I rarely use this feature. The only thing that's not smooth, in my opinion, is scrolling on webpages. If I flick, there's one instance of lag, and then the rest of the "momentum scrolling" completes without stutter / lag.

Have the German JB installed and have no stutter at all...
Lets be honest here, there would have to be MAJOR problems with the os for a 2gb ram quadcore device to stutter when going from 1 screen to the next....

Had a look at those vids, looks to be about average for the stock ROM and is similar to the performance I was getting on stock.
Any of the custom ROMs will help with the sluggishness.

Samsung puts only 1gb ram and fills it with all kinds of it's own services that use all the ram and bug down the system:
Solution:
-Replace Touchwiz with Go Launcher HD.
-Root device and freeze all Samsung stuff that boot up with the system which you don't need such Samsung hubs(games, news etc), Yahoo services etc. Titanium backup can be of help to freeze.
-uncheck cpu in power savings option.
-reduce or stop animations in developer options.

Don't forget to freeze Touchwiz after having replaced it with Go launcher HD. This will prevent it from loading again in the background and hugging your memory. See how your device becomes fast

I had tab 3 7.0 got so slow with only 8800 score, and its got RMA due to auto shut down motherboard,and they give me new tab3, now its score 12000-13000pts,more faster and smooth.

Root it. It is much faster with a custom ROM
Don't use the Facebook app. It's a bloated mess.
Don't use S-Voice. Worthless. Use Google Now. Much better voice search/assistant

I was going to start the same thread before I saw yours. The SGT3 is a horrible tablet, cheaply built, slow, antiquated resolution and overpriced. I bought one after my Asus Infinity 700T was stolen after a visit too a library. When I went into the store to buy a new tablet I asked the sales person what he would recommend, I had a budget of 300. He excitedly showed me the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, the demo unit unfortunately wan't able to start, an omen I should have realized. I was impressed by the size and weight, the cheap plastic feel was worrying but the latter two plus's were enough for me to pull the trigger. When I got it home, charged it, setup up all of the user credentials, the first thing I noticed was how cartoonishly big everything looked. I did however like the look of the keyboard, so I pushed on and installed all of my favorite apps, I started to notice a lot of lag when installing apps, okay maybe the Play Store just isn't optimized for the x86 CPU, I continued. When the tablet was finished installing, I rebooted, than the nightmare what is Tab 3 started. First I tried surfing with Chrome but when more than 6 tabs are opened, do to the lack of memory you will loose whatever you have typed in one tab after you switch to another. The system is very sluggish, typing with a Logitech Keyboard in QuickOffice, the screen can't keep up with my typing. I can spend all day going through all of my apps and describing to you how slow each one performed but you get the idea, SLOW. I wanted to comment on the screen, the resolution is ridiculously bad for a 300 dollar 2014 tablet, I am actually shocked as to how bad it is. It's bright enough but man, Samsung has gotten so cocky to think that they can shove this crap down our throats. Not to mention how easy it is to scratch, breath on it and it's scratched. I decided to try installing a custom ROM for giggles, I had already decided to return it, wow slim pickings in that arena. The two I found were also really bad, the tablet was a little faster, memory management improved a little, not sure why the developers thought that changing the look of the color scheme for the notifications tab was a good idea, the ROMs did nothing to improve the overall experience though, nothing.
I returned the Tab 3 after only two days of what I would call the worst experience I have ever had with a gadget and bought a Nexus 10. 100x the better machine, it even cost 30 dollars less and has built in HDML. Oh the HDMI, I forgot about the HDMI, Samsung charges 40 dollars for the HDMI cable, it however doesn't charge the Tab 3 when connected and because the battery is so bad you can maybe watch a movie and a half. It also doesn't output 1080P when your in the desktop, just 720P so everything is fuzzy. Stay away from this tablet people, it's bad, expensive and insulting to the consumer.

I'd have to heartily disagree with you on that. I've had mine for a few days now and it's everything I expected and then some. Even before I froze a ton of stuff it was lagfree for me. Yeah the resolution kinda blows but it's a tablet. If you want 1080p look at your monitor, 720 is more than fine for a mid-level tablet. As for the Nexus, well I'd have to say the Tab is better but my opinion is jaded because it has a SD Slot, that's a monumental dealbreaker for me when it comes to the Nexus. You talk about it being 2014 well in that case the Nexus should have an SD Slot, that's an archaic thing do by not including one. Not everyone wants to cloud everything. :good:
Regardless, this tablet is more than competent. There is a reason it has a huge community and such great ratings everywhere, it's probably one of the highest quality tablets for its price.

There is some things about this tablet that really irks me but I guess I have high hopes for the KK update helping it out. I also agree with you on the SD slot, that is one main reason I did not buy a Nexus. I also must say that I love the IR blaster and the watchon app, its very convenient and I don't need to find my logitech harmony when I'm on my tablet to mess with the tv. I think I got a good tablet for the price I paid, if I had wanted better then I would of been paying $550+. But I am typing this on my laptop with the tab beside me and my Note 2 and a PS Vita,oh and the ipod touch. I think I have enough devices to connect to the internet and the tab fills its roll well.

I'm glad your happy with your purchase. The Samsung Tab 3 10.1 when compared with other tablets actually has one of the smallest followings at XDA. Just compare the previous versions forum with the new one, you have 2 custom ROMs versus 20 plus for the Tab 2. Every single review I have read says the same thing, laggy tablet, obsolete the second it came off of the assembly line. The SD card issue doesn't really bother me because I happen to like cloud storage but I understand your need for it. Can you tell me what you like about it, it's just so slow for me, my Motorola Xoom 1 that is 4 years old feels faster. In fact I get higher frame rates in almost every game that I play vs. the Tab 3. What about the problem of scratching, that doesn't bother you or only having 300mb of memory free for apps, the horrible battery life, 50 dollar HDMI cable that doesn't output 1080p desktop nor does it charge the unit while plugged in, oh my gosh the list goes on. I would have spent the extra 100 and gotten a Sony Xperia Z.

It's much slower than the Nook Tablet which has been given to my mom since I bought the Tab3 and frankly I've never wanted to go back. As far as speed is concerned if I can multi window a HD video and look at Facebook or the internet at the same time I'd consider the device high speed. Seriously, this guy has done very good for me so far and I'm a major techie(Should be evident by my existence on XDA). I don't really play 3D games on my Tab since i leave major gaming for my PC however FPSE(PS1 Emulator) runs like a champ on this tab. Scratching? All LCD screens have been known to be prone to scratching, if that concerns you so much you can get a case and a screen protector, on my old iPod I bought a infinicase and I took that thing EVERYWHERE, dropped it probably once or twice a day and it was never scratched, having a case that puts the screen at a lifted height from the ground guarantees safety unless it hits at an angle which in that case you're boned. If you're referring to key scratching or something then idk, I've never imagined putting my tablet near things that could ruin it. 300mb of free memory for apps? Taking a quick glance at my storage i have almost 10 gigs of free room on my system storage and plenty on my SD Card, after installing probably a dozen or so various applications. 50$ HDMI cable? I'm not surprised, those suckers ain't cheap. Honestly if you wanted to HDMI it to your TV I would've checked online for more information before making the purchase, the fact that it doesn't charge while being plugged into HDMI in no way surprises me, unless you wanted a charger+HDMI in one sorta thing. Once again I don't personally care about 1080p or 720, I can only see the difference on a monitor, on a TV it's serviceable at worst which is more than enough for a tablet hooked up to a TV.

felt like pitching in here to say that the OP didnt mention what size he got - if it was the 7" model, its specs are basically the same as the tab 2 7.0
my tab 3 8.0 was a lot faster than my tab 2 7.0, and a hella lot faster once it was tweaked/OC'd.
agreed with one users comment about the MHL HDMI being poor - the cable i have allows it to charge while it works, but due to the tablet being 16:10, i get black bars on my 16:9 HDTV. the built in movie app corrects this, but it doesnt make sense for it to not be 16:9 in the first place.

What are you running up there..top left corner...pls list out the apps running in the background

Forgot to add that I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 and think it's great and a lot nicer to use than my aging ASUS TF101

It can't be thaaat slow (under normal circumstances). I mean there must be something defective or something going wrong in the background. I know that benchmarks are not the most ideal way to measure performance but having a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for comparison which performs like 8800 on Antutu and Tab 3 10.1 is in the margin of 20000-22000 it's hard to believe that the device is not capable to offer atleast equaly good performance as the Tab 2 7.0 which is rather good (not the best, but not even near to what your Youtube videos show let's say). I plan to buy it brand new for 210 Euros (~289$) and I HIGHLY DOUBT you can find another tablet for that price with the same screen size and not be from a random Chinese brand or a rebranded Chinese product. My advice would be, wait for KitKat update to come out or try CM11 and then redo a review and if you consider it to be still that bad return it or sell it. Also you don't describe on what usage your were doing with it. I plan to get it for my mother just for surfing and stream some Youtube videos and I doubt it's going to be that bad but feel free to prove me wrong.
