No , only for S4.

HTC told me its coming to both variants but other than that there is no evidence.

Same here, they told me it's out for a while and maybe I should wait for the OTA to show up, but it's just a lie. There is no 4.0.4 for the VilleC2 at the moment

Patience is a virtue
I realized a bit too late that my One S is equipped with the S3 snapdragon... (I havent even known it had different versions until now) so I successfuly soft-bricked my recovery =/ I've found the stock RUU so I can restore it, but...
I ADVISE ANYONE AGAINST TRYING TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS ON ONE S VILLEC2 (S3) JUST YET.
There's simply no point to it, because there aren't any roms available for now. Be patient ;]

True, modding potential on S3 are just garbage..
Even if we get 4.0.4, Im guessing we wont be seeing 4.1 on our devices

I really hope we will see 4.1 on VilleC2... the hardware is more than enough to handle the OS

How long time lag between up-dates of S4 and S3 processors can be? 1 month,2...
Doesn't HTC care about its customers loyalty? - after they sell device with old-fashioned engine by the same price (genius decision ), they also deprive us of service.
With this "devil-may-care" attitude I doubt that my next device will be HTC-made.

I don't think it was a bad decision... the S3 is strong enough even to handle JellyBean, and you get more battery time.
Altough they should've notified the customers =/

4.0.4
I'm starting to loose my patient waiting at least 4.0.4 update. Abt 4.1 ... I don't think abt this, just if, but just IF one of pur colegues will have murcy ta modd one for us.

4.0.4 will land on S3 soon couse s3 version is not just for poor arias like taiwan and serbia and so on but whole europe have s3 and s4 version at the same time and many people dont eaven know that thay have s3 version. And if you concern about jb ...we will get is couse HTC loosing market and thay do anything to hold down thay custumers by the way s3 version is still great and fast phone.

Here in Romanai also no upgrade, but I'm sure that we will all get it sooner or later

I sent an e-mail to HTC about update to 4.0.4 and this is the answer I got (I have no idea why it's in czech - thang god for google translate...):

I don't think the S3 will get updates at all. Who cares about Updates besides of us? I know a ton of people who don't care about updates and have their Sensations running with 2.3.7 or their Desires with even older ones.
I'm really ready to accuse HTC if they won't release any updates for this phone!

You answered your own question. S3 owners are a minority, no offense. Accuse HTC of what? Most people don't care about software updates. Sorry.

ICS 4.0 Update Not Until April 2012?

http://www.themobileindian.com/news/3587_Android-4.0-update-to-come-in-April-2012:-Reports
As reports point out, the updates will arrive by 2nd quarter (beginning April) of 2012 and it is again going to be Samsung devices which will get these updates first. The official word from Samsung is that the six devices to get the update first will be Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy Tab 7.7, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and all of these devices except Galaxy Note (which is coming to India on 2nd November) are already available in India.
Samsung has also said that since it had been working closely with Google on ICS, they expected to beat competitors to the market with upgrades for existing devices.
HTC has also publicly announced the plans for the updates, but it is expected to be late to the party as their phones are heavily modified version of Android and therefore will take more time to include their Sense user interface into the new updates. It will be a more uphill task since some of the features that were available only through Sense UI are now part of Android 4.0 by default.

Wow. That would be very upsetting if it took that long for an official ICS update.
And to think I actually left my device S-on and unrooted in hopes of getting this update before Christmas. Shame on me.
As soon as we get CM7 stable, I'm done with stock. Done with HTC Sense. Done with waiting for HTC and T-Mobile to get us updates (I know I'm late to the party )
Lol you thought we'd have an update this year, that's kind of funny dude. HTC is good with updates, but not that good. And I've been running cm7 since the cm team dropped it on September 11 and its very stable. Just because they call it an alpha doesn't mean it's buggy or laggy.I think it runs very well like the nightlies. But if I were you bud I'd s-off and root because when the galaxy nexus is released, Google will be releasing the source code for ICS and there will be ICS roms asap and cm9. Or just get the galaxy nexus like I'm planning on doing if you want ICS lol but seriously, you'll have ICS soon, it just won't be official.

The moment ICS gets dumped on XDA, it's gonna be a race to see who mmcan get it stable first. A "friendly" competition, if you will. #yearightlol.

I am confident that we'll have CM9 running on our phones long before HTC deigns to give us their Sensified interpretation of ICS.
I remember the Galaxy S situation last year......
Same phone as NEXUS S , but the updato to Gingerbread (released in mid dicember) is arrived in May
I'm probably not gonna wait around for HTC.
soon as stable ICS rom becomes available from our wonderful developers I'm upgrading.
lot of the Sense features are on ICS anyways.

Interesting, that may cost HTC some sales if other phones will get similar features to Sense.
we will get offical ICS if apple devcies get iOS 6 !!
htc should just send ICS for sensation..then after 3 months bring Sense 4.0
Based on past experience, HTC won't release an update until a few months after a new flagship device shipped with a new Android version is launched.
So let's say HTC announce a ICS flagship device in late Dec or early Jan, which will be shipped earliest a month after that. Say early Feb. Add two months to it, April sounds plausible.
As soon as ICS source code is released, probably within days you will start seeing custom ICS roms popping up here. Most of which will be crappy and unstable (although everyone will claim "lighting fast! Super stable!" in their thread title). I would say a month after ICS source code being released, quality ROMs will start rolling out.

I hate the break the bad news to you, but the Sensation is now officially the "red headed step child" for both HTC and the carriers around the globe. It was intended to be the flagship Android device when it was released last June, but HORRIBLE quality control lead to massive shipments of faulty devices. HTC still won't admit the issue, although the carriers now openly mention it and will even offer you an LG or Samsung device as a replacement no matter how long you have had your Sensation. With the new Nexus device about to ship, and a handful of other ICS devices on the way, HTC is in a world of hurt. They didn't get awarded the contract for the Nexus phone and the Motorola/Google merger is going to crush their bottom line. Let's also not forget about the snooping software HTC "mistakenly" installed on this phone, which they have just started rolling out updates to remove. In summary, the Sensation was intended to be a market leader. Due to multiple internal/external issues at HTC that never happened, and now they (HTC) are trying to play catch up. The other issue is that HTC has newer phones on the market which have pushed the Sensation to the back of the line when it comes to upgrades. The Sensation is caught in the middle of the newer phones who are competing against the newest version of Android. Sure, ICS will likely come out for the Sensation by Spring/Summer, but at that point the phone will be a year old and nobody will care.....

lol. nice thoughts! but for some years here in xda, whos still waiting for these "updates" when there are devs that surely be porting this as soon as source comes out? @[email protected]
and to add to that, haven't you learned that HTC is like a brick itself? like the unlocked bootloader they promised? so many people asking them about that and trying to tell them stuff, but they decided to play by their book and it just ended up xda devs coming up with a different way to unlock the bootloader. so, don't trust them, they put some crazy stuff on your phone and won't tell you that they bugged your phone for some unknown reason. thats why there's xda-developers
i dont think it will be that late ,january at the latest we should have something, beta, leak , CM8
Google I/O 2012 is on April 24 and i think they will launch another version of android then
i thought their said the that ics will come to others devices after 2 months its released! well i wont say nothing the fat lady aint sang yet
Im not really worried about the ICS update from HTC. I myself have been lucky and have had ZERO issues with my sensation, but as fast as the quality devs here can roll stuff out we will have 4.0 before too long, and this being a back of the line phone? i dont buy that. It can be considered an entry level dual core phone, but with the custom ROM's and mods available for this thing, it has the ability to blow more powerful phones off the chart.
I must admit im waiting for the Nexus Prime, but until then i'll enjoy the sensation, and probably always will.

do you have some kind of source for these claims? I've not heard a peep about this stuff from other users here or any news sites.
They didn't say anything about releasing the source in july right? Hopefully it releases the same time as Galaxy Nexus. I don't see why I would want an OTA when there's a CM9

I could provide you countless other links, but in this case Google truly is your friend!
If I'm not mistaken we would have to wait for HTC to release the source for an Android 4.0 compatible kernel to be able to run CM9 on Sensation. Or maybe the devs can patch together an Android 2.x kernel for compatibility? I'm no programmer so I'm not sure what I just said makes any sense... but apache (provides the CM7 kernel for Sensation) said that they based their kernel on source code from HTC, I guess due to the aSMP CPU in Sensation.

[Q] ICS 4.0.5 coming to i9020a this month (march)?

I saw some articles on the internet. (mostly rumours) that ICS 4.0.5 would be released for the Nexus S i9020a (for all variants for that matter). Does anyone have any more knowledge on this?
Anyways, so i guess i'm unrooting and returning to stock so that I can get the OTA update. Hopefully it will be out this month
EDIT: Any i9020a users who have received the 4.0.4 update either in the united states (AT&T) or in canada (fido/rogers) please post!
I wish man... but I gotta say this silence from Google is just plain annoying. Yes, I can root and install a ROM (which I already did, running BuglessBeast!) But to ignore every single Thread in their mobile forums regarding the OTA is the worst Customer Support ever.

If it doesn't come out by this month I'll root again and run bugless beast. There's something about official updates that makes me wanna have em over custom roms. Don't know what it is lol
Yup, I am sure I will get the Stock OTA from Google and then flash back to BuglessBeast or CM9 again LOL.

They hardly ever update their status. I wish they could tell us at what stage they're in for the ICS OTA update or at least tell us if we will be getting it or not. I would rather know that I'm not getting the ICS update rather than being left on the edge of my seat for monthsss.. It's been eternity ughh
EDIT: Couldn't stand being on gingerbread. I missed all the features of ICS (especially panorama shot ) So I rooted and went back to the bugless beast rom. LOOOL FTW
I seen a chart of ICS UPDATE release dates somewhere that had NEXUS S receiving the update in MARCH and that's all I've been able to find so I'm really hoping its correct (balls crossed) Have any other PHONES received the update as of yet????? I personally love the ics aosp roms. They will defiantly be better than ota
Don't see how the ota will be better. Plus who needs ota when the custums run so buttery smooth and have such great features.

All articles about 4.0.5 are related to the same french carrier website (SFR). And more especially the dedicated to Android part of the support website.
http://android.sfr.fr/maj-optimisez-votre-mobile-android-mettez-le-a-jour-previsions-7
As a french native speaker, I've been through the page and the comment section below.
On the top of the page you can see a picture according to wich the 4.0.5 OTA is comming to both Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S in march.
Of course, people are asking for a more accurate release date in the comment section wich SFR of course won't provide : still they seem to confirm the 4.0.5 update in March.

Knowing the fact that Nexus's updates usually come directly from Google (*), we may expect the OTA before the end of the month.
Though, I believe most of the SFR Nexus S are the i9023 (almost the same, screen appart as the i9020T if I'm not mistaken) as this is the most common variant in Europe (this is in fact the one I bought from France myself, living in a very near country).
(*) wich they confirm also in the comment section :

Oh man.. Does that mean that there might not be an update for the i9020a. That's not fair at all most Nexus S are already updated to ICS except for the i9020a which is still on 2.3.6.... some even on 2.3.4 NOT FAIR GOOGLE... NOT FAIR
At this point, there is no clue wether the i9020a will or won't get the update. All I can say is that SFR wich seems to be the only source of all this articles talking about the upcoming 4.0.5 update is I think mostly (I guess only) using i9023 variant of the NS. As they will only approve the update Google will release for their SFR variant (i9023), it's impossible to tell wich variants the update will target. My point is they are talking about the i9023 on their website but still the update could be sent to all NS variants directly from Google. In fact SFR is really almost nothing in the update process. They are just (as a carrier company) I guess somehow more informed about the upcoming update. They seem to confirm March for the update but refuse/can't (it depends on the dev progress and will to release the update, not on them) to give a more accurate date as I stated in my previous comment.

So, afaik, this "report" is totally false. They aren't even done with 4.0.4. When it is done, then they will deal with pushing out OTAs.
I wonder why people with gingerbread (I can only assumed they did not root because of warranty) care about 4.0.5 when they don't even have 4 at all, or why people with rooted Nexus S care to unroot when they can probably get a better custom ROM than 4.x stock can offer...

ICS Update Galaxy Tab Wifi (GT-P6210)???

Has samsung released when they are planning on releasing the ICS update for the wifi version? Or is it possible to make an ICS rom for p6210 from what they have released?
Best to wait for an official release. From what I've seen, there is a lot of bugginess in the current CM9 builds. It can't be too far off now.

There has not been any specific date announced for Samsung's US 6210 release. Apparently at least one UK user has it already.
CM9 is really close. WIFI should be working now.
Samsung US is the slowest of the slow
It always takes Samsung US the longest to release updates. They are horrifically slow so just hang in there. A concept Samsung (overall) has never grasped is that these user forums do not differentiate between the the different country models when they create a forum for a device (which the forums shouldn't have to do anyway). The problem that Samsung seems oblivious to is that if you perform upgrades to the devices for Asian countries but neglect to do so for Europe or the United States in any type of timely matter, it just creates very ill will on the parts of the world that they seem to be ignoring. It becomes a case of the "have's" and the "have not's". Unfortunately the upper management at Samsung are "have not's" when it comes to brains and I doubt they will ever figure out that they give the appearance of screwing over some of their customers. This is not to say that the P6210 will not get its upgrade. I am sure it will. You just have to wait for the incredibly slow and somewhat brain dead people at Samsung. Isn't their company motto...."We love your money, we could just care-a-less about you?

CM9 is really close. WIFI should be working now.

Where did you read that a UK user has it already? I'm in the UK and my P6210 is decidedly un-ICSed!

Really? Its not even that big a deal. If you are going to lose your cool, just Odin the stock firmware that has been posted. The stock ICS experience is awesome.

AT&T specifically never promised anything. That was when it was supposed to be delivered to one of the carriers. How did you post that when it's now December and there isn't anything yet is puzzling.

You know not the hour nor the day.
Actually I believe it may be. I have an update waiting in que & have heard from two sources, one that works for the big H, & heard that the JB rom is starting to roll out. I have not had time yet this morning to DL & pull the update, but I believe it just started rolling out this morning.
I plan on taking a look at the OTA that I have in que over lunch & will report back.
Updates on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and Frequently Asked Questions
We're looking forward to providing our HTC One X and HTC One S customers with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) along with our latest version of HTC Sense. As with any software upgrade, we work closely with our carrier partners to ensure we deliver the best experience possible on our devices.
After internal testing, we test the software on live networks in order to confirm the experience matches our expectations, and carrier expectations, for performance, connectivity and platform stability. While testing takes time, we're working quickly with our carrier partners to rollout these updates. We'll provide information on availability once the software is ready for release.
When will additional devices receive Android 4.1?
In addition to the HTC One X and HTC One S, we are actively reviewing our product portfolio to identify candidates to receive Jelly Bean. Our goal is to prioritize review for devices launched in 2012 with our numerous carrier partners across multiple regions and then consider our ability to provide updates to products from 2011.
What is the overall timeline of Android 4.1 updates?
There are many aspects to the software development process that make it difficult for us to give specifics on upgrade timing. As a global company, we work with a number of carrier partners in various regions to ensure a great user experience with every upgrade. Each region and carrier partner has unique requirements that necessitate customized testing. Only after HTC and its partners have successfully completed the final testing will the software be released.
What devices will not get Android 4.1?
We work hard to ensure each of our products has the optimal user experience and therefore some products will remain at their current version of Android. In general, devices with 512MB RAM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.1. At present, these devices include the HTC One V and the HTC Desire C. As we identify other devices that will not be upgraded, we'll provide updated information.
It should be noted that upgrades are not the same thing as ongoing support. Devices not being upgraded to Android 4.1 will still get software improvements, security fixes, and technical support.
What about a development version of Android 4.1?
For our developer community, we plan to make generic development ROMs of Jelly Bean available for both the HTC One X and HTC One S. As soon as the ROMs are ready, they will be posted to our HTCdev site (www.htcdev.com). We strongly recommend customers take the time to understand the limitations of the development software along with the terms and conditions on the site before downloading to their device.
My phone hasn't gotten the Android 4.1 update, while others with the same device have. Why?
Our devices are available on a wide variety of carriers and across many countries, due to localization, testing, and partner approvals, updates do not roll out to all devices with the same name at the same time.
Even once a software update begins to roll out from HTC or a carrier partner, the update can take up to 45 days from the initial push to reach each person with that device on a given network.
If your phone has not received the update after the 45-day period, navigate to Settings > About > Software Updates to have your device manually check for updates. If your device still does not show an update, please contact customer support
Why does it take so long to release an update?
Our goal is to make sure that an upgrade provides an improved customer experience and that means a high standard of quality for hardware compatibility, adapting device or carrier specific customizations, testing by HTC and partners, addressing device hardware constraints, and many other factors.
What version of HTC Sense will come with the Android 4.1 update?
The upgrade to Android 4.1 will include HTC Sense 4+.
Its coming out on 12-21-2012. Too bad we won't be able to update...

Ya, I had to read it twice to actually get it. The part when he said "to bad we wont be able to update ", and then i linked December 21 2012 together to the date Mayans predicted something would happen. At first it got took out of proportion to the world ending but they proved that mayan calendar was not the same as ours or something. But yeah you got trolled by ethantarheels123 hehe.

Originaly targetted for begining of 2016 but since there are no news since then I would assume the answer is Never!
I am in the same struggle and I made the mistake to purchase it few months ago.
Hi guys
I contacted HTC customer support asking them when the HTC ME would receive the promised Marshmallow update. They replied saying that there are no more upgrades planned for this device. So seems like we are stuck on Lollipop forever. I am terribly disappointed in HTC. It is an unethical company which doesn't seem to be able to keep its promises. No wonder they are doing so poorly in their market shares globally and trailing behind the competition. I am definitely not buying any more HTC devices. And this comes from a loyal customer who has been using HTC phones all his life. But I guess it serves them right. A company that cannot keep its loyal customers is bound to doom.
