Jelly questions - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any possabality of a fix for GPS .
Is the battery life as good as ICS .
Are the WiFi problems fixed ?
I would realy like to install paranoide but I realy like a working gps .

tbh. i don't think it is worth it... video playback with hardware decode is hampered... there is a build up of ram over time and no task killers would free it up, but after a restart it is very very laggy and slow for a minute... it takes up more resources and it is not LIGHTER than ics for ram atleast.... but it does have a smoother feel and the things that usually lag, do not lag as much... i think wifi hot spot also does not work... there are still issues... nexus 7.7 was the fastest for me but i didn't like the UI... i don't feel the battery life is as good as ics aswell.... but that is just me as i have like 8 homescreens with millions of widgets along with live wallpapers...

GPS is working on paranoid

it is a known problem in cm build that wifi hotspot is not working... and still got a leaking ram issue...

Poor interface performance

Maybe i am wrong but it looks like there is something weird with 2d/interface performance of my Sensation.
Currently i am running latest Hypersensation with latest Faux's kernel (ADW Launcher) and i have tested a lot of other ROMs and launchers..but on all of them i am getting nonsmooth interface. Kinda laggy.
I mean, in sense, everything is fine (in the meaning of that word, not supersmooth but fine), but when i try Zeam launcher's drawer (with 6x6 grid) which is superlightweight it gets laggy. In ADW (6x4) it's laggy too. In Go Launcher not too much but i am still not happy. And it's the same with Launcher Pro.
And effected homescreen - switching is not smooth at all. I even tried overclocking my cpu, but it didn't help.
Before some time, by sensation has fallen on the floor by left down corner (and now i have deep scratch on the external casing) - could it damage by cpu in any way? I hope not
I am getting scroll lags in some apps (twicca), new twitter app (released today) is laggy as hell (when pulling to refresh, to be accurate) and new facebook.
However in games it's fine and i am getting around 12000 native cf-bench score with overclocked (1,5 Ghz) CPU, so this is indicating that there is no damage to CPU.
Maybe i am too demanding, but this performance in ui (which you are using most of the time on phone) is not what i expect from 1,2 Ghz DC phone.
Is anybody out there experiencing similar issues? Anyway to fix them? Thanks in advance, guys!
I have attached twitter video...30 fps via screen recorder high quality settings:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_mnEz9tl3E
I suggest using a Sense rom, they tend to have better performance, but switching launchers. The guy who makes HyperSensation also has a no sense rom, try it out, it's really fast and smooth. As for ADW, get ADW Launcher EX, ADW just plain sucks, but EX is very fast.

As long as it's still running, I doubt it. These phones dont have any moving parts, so it's not like you busted a cooling fan or anything. You're not the first to bring performance concerns to the Sensation. And frankly, I've noticed it too sometimes. At times I feel like I'm using my G2, but the good news, ICS will have a GPU accelerated UI (like the iPhone does) so performance should greatly improve soon, hang in there brother.
Thanks, i forgot to mention that i have used all launchers mentioned above with sense rom, with sense disabled via app manager (frozen) and e. g. mentioned zeam sucked. But iwill give ADW EX a try..especially when it costs 0,1 euro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350492
There's that non-sense rom I recommended. ADW EX is definitely worth the money, you'll notice an instant performance difference over the standard ADW. The only thing thats laggy about it (on any phone) is if you set a transparent drawer, since it's not GPU accelerated, that'll half your FPS. Hope it goes well for you, it's a shame that even with Sense disabled, you're seeing problems.
Edit: Have you tried either the Faux or Bricked kernels?
Thanks for tip with ADW Ex, it is totally smooth now Zooming animation still isn't perfect (when going from homescreen to appdrawer) but its ok. I have never thought that EX is this big performance improvement.
Funny thing is, I have the same issue. I changed the zoom duration to somehting like 300 or 350, speeds it up so it doesn't look as bad, but I can't find a solution. Atleast EX is running good though.
Hello there! I was in the same boat with my sensation. Unhappy with the seemingly laggy interface of my new 2core phone. So I rooted to reverted aosp with 1.7 kernel and this is about as snappy as I wanted it to be from the start , I'd suggest trying it out
I have something to add. I tried multiple Sense and No-Sense roms, and that homescreen to appdrawer animation is perfect on all of them. I flashed the bricked kernel, but I'm pretty confident that that's no required to get that animation smoothed out.

Search for the best battery saving OS

Hi ,
currently I'm running CodenameAndroid 3.3.0 on my Nexus S and everything runs smooth and works perfectly well for me, no doubts. But somehow I constantly get the feeling that the newer our operating system gets our batteries drain faster. Either this or my battery just gets old. However I'm searching for a Rom that has battery saving in main purpose. I dont care about playing games, the operating system or showing off how great my phone is. For this I have my Tablet The best solution for me would be a rom which is very low in batterydrain but as smooth as jellybean (maybe just port the transitions over). I know it might be hard to find something like this but is there any rom which matches my perception? Also a nice look would be cool, too ^^
I'm waiting for your responses!
I think you're looking for SlimBean. I'm on CNA too, the batter life is pretty bad
I tried SlimBean because I used SlimICS before but I miss too many features to change it back. Isn't there something else? Or which OS has the best batterylife in general?
i think gingerbread still has the best battery life.
androxide got me over 4hrs of screen time and a days usage with matrix
the new miui jb is also almost the same
IMO.....ICS's best battery life is on Kangy Ultra Ex 1.3 by DaXmax.
Just as long as u don't use Google talk since that's the ROMs only hiccup.
Then again like most will say.... its all depending on the user so hopefully it will help if u try.
I'm currently using the same developers JB ROM called paranoid Android..... so far it great but again I don't use all the newest features to much yet. I'm working myself slowing into the stuff.
Good luck
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2
There is no ROM with super battery life, some better and some worst, very similar.
Most u can get from nexus s is +4hrs screen on.
And i don't care about those pathetic screen shots with +7hrs of screen on.
Fire up 3g/H stock browser, maps, music etc and we'll find out how good ur battery life is.
MIUI get's me aprox 4 hours and 50 minutes of on screen time. Lots of game playing, instant messaging, syncing, music, and social media (Instagram, twitter, tumblr.) And about 9 hours + when it get's to about 14%
EDIT: This is when using WIFI, not my 3G.

This question will produce every combo under the sun...but in the end no Real answer. Every phone/battery is different and how the person uses their phone. Apps installed, how much you use said apps, are the ram hogs, 2g, 3g, I could go on forever...just like this thread will if not eventually ignored or closed.
Closed, there is no answer to this question, the majority of battery drain will be the screen (depending on brightness) and whatever app you have installed and use.
Generally it's a matter of finding out what works for you.

[q] PACman rom questions

Ok so i have two questions pertaining to PACrom.
For thew first one, is it just me or is the battery life on this rom not that great, i have had mine go from 100% to 76% in less than an hour and my screen on time was less than 15 mins, is there a way to correct this since even greenify or underclocking it doesnt even make a dent in it.
For question two, it might be a little noobish, but i came from sense and personally loved sense but for some reason every sense rom i flashed acted a little laggy and i love the smoothness of CM but i HATE the AOSP camera with a passion, is there any alternative camera apps that are almost or just as good as the sense camera and the panorama camera sense had?
Thank you in advance for helping me.
Is Google Services using a high amount of battery? That was my problem with the battery life in the rom. If so, delete the data for all the Google apps via settings>apps>all.
As for the camera, you can try Camera MX which has live effects like Sense but it runs slow on my phone. You should try out this awesome Sense rom

[Q] Ram management issue on the s6 causes lag?

Hey guys I am sorry if this question is asked again, but does the ram management issue on the s6 cause lag in day to day usage or it just deters the multitasking performance? Gonna buy the s6 tomorrow, and Im damn excited

It will mean if you use the back key to come out of apps, sometimes they will reload, such as phone and messaging etc, but only usually games will be closed regularly and aggressively. General lag isn't a problem, just a slight delay loading aps back into memory once they've closed.
I find if I back out of apps using the home key this problem is reduced.

How about scrolling through apps such as chrome ,Facebook ,play store. Does this issue cause any lag?
I've never really experience any huge lag. I turn off my device once in 2 days so maybe that helps.

90% of users won't even notice the memory management "issue". Only hardcore multitaskers will. The "issue" is the S6 kicks apps out of cache very quickly so whenever you tap the multitask button, the app relaunches/redraws instead of resuming from a hibernated state. There is a little lag (~0.5 second), but it is not a dealbreaker that would prevent you from enjoying the phone.

Chrome lags on every device I have owned, including the S6. Any app that uses Android WebView will lag.
I don't use facebook, so I can't speak for that app.
No Play store lag on my S6.

Really, I did'nt notice the problem with multitasking (because the S6 is so fast) before I read about it here.
Also, all the **** you hear about the battery life is not true. Of course, it's not the best out there (only 2550mah, so of course not) but it easily get you through the day (normal usage) and at least into another. The battery have gotten way better with a few updates (it was damn bad at the start) and might get even better when 5.1 hits in a few weeks.
Just turn of basic stuff, that noone uses anyway (almost) like, location history, wifi always scanning and such.

Glad to hear that, by the way 5.1 just came out recently and its showing mixed reactions among the users. Some people says that the battery life has improved a lot after the update and some just says its the same.

No, it's not out yet. At least not for the international version. Some users think, that the reason only one carrier got it yet, is because it is a "test" version. Not sure tho.
But well, as said, only out for one carrier for over a week now.

Yeah the battery life is overblown. It is no worse than any other phone with <2500 mAh battery. Anyone coming from a 3000+ mAh battery will be disappointed, but anyone that is used to plugging in every day won't know any different.
If you are rooted, I also recommend App Ops to manage permissions and save more battery :good:
Check Force gpu rendering and no lag. As far as it regards multitasking it sucks.

How is the 7.0 upgrade overall compared to the XZ on Android 6?

Can anyone list the bugs they've found since updating to 7.0 from MM? Also, how is battery life and overall speed/smoothness compared to MM? I can't find any definitive info on this and as I'm happy with MM I'm loathe to upgrade but know that the update will auto-install one of these days.
better battery (at least on data for me )
smootheness is a bit better
and the ram management is hell better than before...
camera i belive is same
boot time a bit better
Totally agree with that adding the camera is enough good for my expectations (im not trying to win a photo competition) and it works even better in low light than 6.0 (just an impression)... Otg is workin very good...
Bugs? Need more testing time none by now?
The lack of mhl or any other video out alternative is killing me badly. Very dissapointed
No fm support by now also.
So it's just as fast and smooth?
No bluetooth/Wifi/signal issues?
No lag or freezing? Thanks guys.

The battery is vastly improved. Albeit, I only updated this morning. But I have 3.5hours of SoT and I'm still at 50%
Did about 30mins of calling today and lots of emails/texting and chrome and playing around with split screen

Right, new swipe from top shortcuts needs two pushes to activate instead 6.0 single tap to enable style. Don`t like too much but works ok
If you just pull down the a row of icons, that's still tap to activate or deactivate.
