I flashed Beans Custom ROM v6 on my s3 yesterday and have been having
some issue I just wanted to see if anyone else was having the same issues or if it was an isolated case (user error)
1. My phone keeps vibrating when its off constantly
and
2. Whenever I reboot or power off and then power on I always go in CWM
Has anyone found any solutions for these problems?
Thanks in advance

Well if your phone is vibrating it isn't off
I would flash a different rom. You may also want to ask this in his rom thread
I will I just cant post in there because my post count is low
Mine will do t his when I plug it in while it's off using Imo's kernel 12-2.
Yea I noticed it when its plugged in as well... will update after I see what happens without the charger. Also using same kernel
Yea its seems whenever its not plugged in its fine in terms of vibrating but its sort of a pain though gonna try and figure out a workaround. If this is widespread I guess I'll look in to some solutions
It is a problem with the custom kernel used in beans. It happens when the phone is off and charging. (That I know of).
I'd suggest synergy as an alternative to beans. Its a really tough decisions. There's things I really like about both of them so its an extremely hard decision

Yea its fine when the phone is off but not charging so I guess its really not much of a deal breaker...I guess I will leave the phone on while charging now. I really like the ROM other than this drawback and the kexec recovery boot on every power on and reboot but that is the price we pay for Verizon's sheistyness
I actually have the same problem. Hopefully it will be fixed soon

I've only had the phone for less than 24 hours and I'm ready to send it back. Someone help me out please.
My phone keeps shutting down randomly. I rooted, installed CWM (Yes the nvFlash), Installed Evils ROM from the dev section.
The phone shut down right before bed last night and it must have done it sometime through the night because I had to restart it in the morning. Today it turned off a couple of times and my logical thought was that it was the ROM.
I switched over to EaglesBlood 1.0.5 hoping it would be a little more stable. It took a little longer, but it still shut completely off.
Nevermind the battery life I just want it to stay on. I'm no genius, but I'm pretty decent with ADB and terminal if I can fix it. Let me know if I'm overlooking something.
this phone has several issues. check the rest of the forums. what you are experiencing is one of them and it only gets worse from here.....

I've read most of the issues. I was hoping there was a way to fix it. I talked to a customer service rep at the Tmo store today. He said there is supposed to be an update released by the end of the month.
I rooted so I never have to worry about releases. Usually Cyanogen and his team are all over this kind of stuff. (Cue G1)
I really wanna know why it's doing it and how to fix it.
You by chance have an app that flashes the home buttons as a notification? When I deleted that, my random shut offs dropped...
Is it shut down? Or is the screen black? I get the occasional black screen... if you hit the power button the screen gets a little brighter... if it's that you can just do a hard reboot, power+volume up

Still not working
Okay I think this will help out. I'm been trying different ROM's for a couple of weeks now in an effort to get this to stop this is what's happening.
1. The phone shuts off completely and you need to pull the battery out to get it to turn on with the power button.
2. The phone turns off during a call or during use and starts up again with the boot animation.
3. Shuts off while charging in the middle of the night or while on the car charger.
What app needs deleted or removed? How do I do it? I'd like to post the solution up for anyone having this same problem.

I'm flashing this ROM now. I'll try running it for a few days and see if I get any improvements.
I hit the thanks button. I'll post what happens.
I am getting the same problem with my G2x randomly and whiles its charging and I have tried roms CM7 Nightly, EaglesBlood, Trigger, and MIUI but all start shutting off sooner or later. Tell me if that rom fixes yours.

I've had my G2X for about a month, and have been experiencing the common issue where my phone randomly shuts off and the only way to get it to turn back on is to pull the battery.
I've installed the GB update, that didn't fix it. Factory reset didn't help either.
Has anyone successfully fixed this issue on their phone? If so, what'd you do? Is there any chance that rooting my phone would correct the problem?
Sorry if there was a post about this, I couldn't find anything talking about if anyone's been able to fix the problem.
Thanks
yes... the onlyhh way to fix the problem is to root! nvflash clock work mod recovery, then flash eagle blood 2.3.3 rom and it is perfect...
Thanks, this did indeed seems to do the trick. Not a single reboot so far after 2.5 days.

My G2X actually restarted on its own today. It was the first time since the first few days I had the phone over a month-month and a half ago. Wasn't really a big deal, lol. It comes back on.
Have been playing with this phone for 3 days now and haven't had any issues (I did install xboarder's stock rooted version). Minor screen bleed is the only issue.

Finally, someone (dmaniscool) who can say they switched to an xda dev'ed ROM and got rid of the lock ups. I've posted many times asking if anybody ACTUALLY FIXED a problem (specifically the battery pull lock up); I got no responses, and someone finally stated it. Great. Next time my wife's G2x locks up, I'm rooting and putting a ROM on it.
Thank you dmaniscool

Will do, so far so good! I had no experience with rooting, and was able to figure it out looking at the guides available on the forum. It kind of looks intimidating, but it's not actually very difficult.
By restart does everyone mean just shuts down? Mine never restarts, it will just shut off.

Mine did both actually, shut down and restarts. But mostly just shut downs, which required a battery pull to power back on.
My 2 will do both - but I think the "shut-off" is a lock up, because the longer I leave it locked up, the less battery I'll have after I do a battery pull.
8 days of both phones not locking up by doing one restart per day per phone.
Since I raised the minimum CPU speed to 389 from 216, I have far fewer sleeps of death
You don't wanna know where this was sent from.
I've tried every ROM and kernel combination possible and nothing actually fixes these problems for me.
Wow this post was scary at first, I had a thunderbolt and no matter what. RUU, Different ROMS, Stock, Kernels, Radios. Changing all that didn't matter it still turns off constantly and doesn't turn back on till I do it meaning no text or calls, basically same as having a phone on silent all the time without even having the luck chance of pulling it out while ringing.....
I am on miui x.26 (whatever kernal that comes with it) and have over 40 hours of uptime. I haven't had a crash yet, I just manually restart every couple of days because I'm weird like that.
Sent from my LG-P999
Well 6 days into it and I've had a total of 2 shutdowns. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but both times were after being outside when it was ~90 degrees out.
This is still much improved, I used to get 3-4 per day on average.
I'm using Eaglesblood 2.3.3. I'm thinking of trying MIUI because it's so nice looking.
For me I did a battery replacement the first time directly from T-Mobile and the phone continued restarting on me. I was just about to request a replacement phone from T-Mobile until I recently purchased a different brand of battery containing the same specs as the stock battery and to my surprise no overheating and definitely no restarts. I feel that the restarts and lockups are due to faulty batteries shipped out with the phones. I'm suprised no one has mentioned this.

Wow, I told the CostCo kiosk girl I was having lock up problems and I had my grandkids with me. She took my phone and pulled the battery - at the same time my grandson stated he had to go to the bathroom NOW. She either looked at the battery or something on the phone under the battery. I didn't have time to ask. She didn't really comment and gave me my phone back.
Hmmmmmm........

ok so do they know what exactly is causing the shut downs or reboot on this phone? i just got mine today and it was pre installed with gingerbread and idk if there is root for the gingerbread build yet. i just want root but no custom rom for me. i love the stock rom. it kicked the crap out of my sensation 4g as far as speed goes in everyday use.
Hey guys, so I just finished up changing my infuse over to Legend 2 ICS edition and I've been playing with it for about a week and I'm having a rather large issue. Whenever I leave the gps ability enabled so that my apps can find where I am the phone has a tendency to dump battery life like there is no tomorrow but worse than that it stops sending and accepting text messages randomly while the rest of the phone continues to operate. There are no warning signs so that I know this is happening and I have to reboot the phone to get it to work again. If I leave the gps feature off this is not an issue however, this is rather useful to have running so that my apps all work. Any idea how to fix this problem?? Thanks for your time.
I've been running legend 2 for almost a couple weeks and legend before that, my gps was buggy at first-it wouldn't lock on to my location. I did a complete wipe and reinstall, then let the phone boot up and let it settle for a while before I did anything else. Haven't had any problems since

Thanks a bunch I'll try that out and get back to you on if it works or not in the next couple of days.
Thanks
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, work had me pretty tied up for a while. Thanks for the help everything seems to be working fine for the most part now. I need to reboot every once and a while due to overheating but I think thats just the fact that the phone is adjusting to the new ROM. Thanks again for the help.

Hmmm, the phone shouldn't be overheating at all, do you do any tibu system restores? I've had an app cause an overheating problem before. One thing I've learned is when you do allot of flashing, checking out different roms or themes, its good to just do an odin or hemdall flash back to stock that has repartitioning.
It gives you a fresh start.
TiBu
I have done TiBu on the phone however I did have to flash it back to stock with odin partway through flashing this rom the second time because I bricked the phone, I'm still at a loss because I need to restart the phone usually once a day because it stops accepting and sending text messages without warning while everything else still works. It's kinda weird, I've been chalking it up to the fact that its a new rom and the phone needed to get used to it but it doesn't seem that way anymore.

Still having issues
Ok so I'm still having an over heating issue and my phone refuses to send or recieve texts for periods of time. I'm going to delete a couple of apps to see if they're causing the problem. If that doesn't work any chance that I'm having a hardware issue with the phone, it wouldn't be the first time I've had issues this would be my 5th replacement due to hardware issues in the phone.
Hope you can help.

What is curious is that whatever button combination you use, there is no response at all. And the phone was working without problem only a couple hours before. Even if I plug, there is no battery charging image.

Aw man and I thought I had it bad... lol. Good luck with this!
I would try getting your hands on another battery though. I don't think the phone would boot up without a recognizable battery whether it had enough power or not. Maybe someone that actually knows can say... Either way I'll try it with mine tomorrow (mine boots into fastboot and recovery at least) and let you know
Looks like trying out another battery might be the only next logical step. No response even when plugged in for charging indicates a possible battery issue.
hey...
you got a similar condition with my phone...

I had read a lot of forums that said that with the JB upgrade (any type: AOSP, OTA, etc), after some time, theirs phones gone dead as well. Seems there is some problem with the bootloader that affect the mainframe (motherboard?). No one has been able to resolve this problem.

I had the exact same thing happened to me. I installed a custom jb ROM (I was already using an earlier version of the same rom) and I noticed abnormal battery drain and in a few hours it died completely. No response at all. Tries different batteries, chargers, everything. I tried sending it in to get it fixed but I was told they found corrosion on the board which was true so it would coat 450 to fix! But I know for a fact that wasn't the reason why the phone was completely unresponsive. I went to wind to get it fixed and the guy told me that they've been getting a crap load of nexus s devices back for the exact same reason. This coincided with the jelly bean upgrade. There's definitely an issue happening with the upgrade but Google or Samsung aren't saying anything.

Hey XDA Forums. So I am having a problem with my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (i727). I will have it in my pocket, not using it, and when I take it out to try and use it, it will not wake up. I do not know if it is off or what, but I cannot turn it on without pulling out the battery and putting it back in. And it isn't dead, once it comes back on it will have anywhere from %20-100 of battery left. No where near being dead. This isn't just when it is off in my pocket tho, it happens some of the times when I try and restart it, but only sometimes. This was happening before I put a Rom on it but after I had Rooted it. I am running the Slim Bean Rom and I have made sure that it is completely updated and I have returned the device to factory state and reinstalled the Rom following the directions given with the same thing happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
Random freezes and lockups have been an issue with jelly bean from the start. They are much more infrequent now, but they still occur. Be sure your minimum CPU speed is atleast 384. Many have found this to help quite a bit on cutting down on the lockups.
A battery pull shouldn't be necessary by the way. Simply hold the power button for 10 seconds and that should do the trick.
I have only had freezes when rebooting way back in July when I flashed my first ROM Sky ICS. It happened constantly after the initial flash though while yours seems random. I was told to backup the rom, wipe and immediately restore it. Worked like a charm. Can't hurt to try it.
Edit: It could also be a stuck power button. Check the stickies and you should find info on correcting it.

can u clarify, when you are on stock rom does it do it, or only on custom rom, on stock rom its more important if its doing it as it could be some hardware issue, if its a custom rom, read the devs thread for possible fixes or try another rom

I had this same issue with my Skyrocket. Granted mine was just rooted and on stock rom. But it still did it, random reboots usually during a call. I got tired of it happening so I contacted AT&T international support (that part was by accidentaly dialing the wrong number), and then a few days later I had a brand new Galaxy S III. Now granted in my case it was that I was on the 3'rd Skyrocket and was not about to go through all that again.
