Greetings,
I Apologize if i have posted this in the wrong place, but I did check the forums, and this seemed like a suitable place to post about an android device that isn't listed. (nor yielded any search results.)
I recently got an ONDA VX580W MP4 Player and Have been trying for days now to Root the device, without any luck.

USB: USB2.0
Methods I Have tried:
I have searched countlessly for Specific Onda VX580W related information, and most i have found relates to the other version of the model with the "AllWinner" chip, so that was useless to me.
I did however find some info on this China Digitals. (if you wish to see it, since i cant post links, search "Chinese digitals onda vx580w rk28xx custom rom"
But when I used the necessary programs to flash the device (and the software said it was successful). My device just sat there with a black screen. (and I did wait quite a while) Fortunately, It was still able to connect via USB so i was able to RE-Flash the device with the original .img from ONDA's website.
There was also another topic mentioned in that China Digitals post (The one reffering to MP4Nations), which also stated to have Rooted firmware compatible with my device, however this had the same results. At the time, I was pretty mortified, since I thought that I had bricked my device TWICE.
(And i have tried Registering on China Digital forum to ask them about it, but it requires the Administrator to Verify accounts, rather than via verification email, so I'm unable to ask, since its been several days now and vie still had no verification.
I did try the image from the Original China Digitals post ONCE more, but again, black screen, and nothing. So I restored it to its original state once again.
I have also tried, these Apps, directly on the device:
z4root ~ No success.
Universal-1-click-root ~ No success either.
GingerBreak (Latest) - No Success
I have also tried using the software Super One Click. (and I also tried this after having installed Java JDK and Android SDK)
Most of the time it just freezes (Not Responding) after getting to "step 2: Starting ADB Server", OR it gets all the way to "Check if Shell Rooted Step#3" and then stops responding. I have also tried this on 3 different computers, 2 being 64bit, the other being 32bit. (All windows 7).
I Then moved on to trying to unpack the Update.img and modify the boot.img and the system.img to allow root access. But ive hit a bit of a stand still. Ive managed to edit the boot.img default properties file to have the value "secure=0", but i cannot modify the system.img with NewTux Flash tools, which is supposed to open and modify system.img files, since it does NOT like the system.img that belongs to my tablet.. it just gives me an error. So i cant open it to get rid of the stock apps or change write privileges to add root access. And i tested opening a cyanogen 7 system.img with it, and that opens.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've seen a couple of videos on youtube about doing a root on these pads. I have 1 coming during the week, here is some of the technical spec for it...
Real Android 2.3 system, Flytouch 3 upgrade version
CPU VC882 Embedded 800MHz~1GHz ARM Cortex A8 32-bit processor core
I'm not sure of the exact make.
Is it really as simple as it seems on the youtube videos i.e install LauncherPro and select USB debugging option, then installing z4root, and that will be the device rooted?
Also, I downloaded the z4root.apk file on to my pc, but would I be better just downloading the .apk file straight on to the tablet via the browser rather than trying to transfer it from my pc?
Also, once installed, is it possible to upgrade the OS from 2.3 to a later version?
Sorry for the basic noobish questions, and thanks for any help you can give :good:
Dear All,
I have a newly purchased Archos 70 IT (250G) version, as I want to use it as a photo bank to store my photos in my Canon 40D, I read a lots of threads on XDA and finally found out the most workable way to copy my photo to Archos 70H is downgrade my O/S to 2.0.54 from 2.3.81. And Connecting my device with a Nokia CA157 cable (USB OTG cable) to another USB cable to my Canon 40D. Then I can read and write on the CF card (32GB Extreme Pro) without any problem.
However, the performance of 2.0.54 is too bad... I want to install Urukdroid 1.6 in my Archos 70H, but Urukdroid 1.6 is developed based on 2.3.xx which would not allow me to connect my Canon 40D to copy photos.
My question is, if I install Urukdoid 1.6 in my Archos 70H, can I boot it into original stock O/S 2.0.54?
Any Urukdoid 1.6 roots user can help me answer this question? Just simply boot your Archos in Android in boot menu, thanks!!!!
Sorry for duplicate post, but my box is M3, not MX
I have a M3 box and installed wrong firmware and now I don't have access CWM (no signal), black screen and blue led. I tried several times recovery by SD card and a lot of softwares/firmwares (SDcardMaker.exe, HDDRawCopy1.02Portable.exe)...
There are any way to recovery by JTAG? or AML ImageBurnTool?
This is my box: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2013...oogle-TV-Box-IPTV-reciever-hd/1046658225.html
And this is the picture (but dvbs2). There are some kind of boxes (dvb-t, dvbs2...), the difference is only the tuner (removable): http://www.gadgetoadicto.com/wp-content/Imagenes/placa-iptv28.jpg
I need help!!!!!!!

Hello,
I've finally compiled a utility I've been trying to for awhile.
That utility is devio.
What this utility does, is serve either a disk image or iso file and allows you to mount it on a remote pc.
For example:
I mounted a 16GB iso file that contains 73 different versions of Windows on my phone.
Then I mounted it over wifi on my pc, and installed Windows 8.1 into a vhd file using WinNTSetup v3.6.5
It installed slower than directly hooking it via usb, but it was still acceptable.
I tested the copy of windows installed to the vhd, and it appeared to be working fine (No weird messages in event viewer, etc)
There are many other ways to mount the image, either through ftp, http, smb, etc.
But the protocol devio speaks allows for the lowest overhead, so in theory the best possible speed.
I have posted the source on my github here:
https://github.com/tech128/devio
It should work on Android 2.x or newer.
I've uploaded the file with an apk extension, remove it after you download if you want.
Here's an example of using devio:
http://grandstreamdreams.blogspot.com/2009/08/devio-remote-drive-access-and.html
In android, things are mapped differently than windows, so you won't be able to mount \\.\D: or \\.\PhysicalDrive1
You would have to mount it like this:
/storage/sdcard/devio 9000 /storage/extSdCard/ISO/Windows.iso
