[Q] Root procedure for Superpad V10 8GB using z4root? - General Questions and Answers

I've seen a couple of videos on youtube about doing a root on these pads. I have 1 coming during the week, here is some of the technical spec for it...
Real Android 2.3 system, Flytouch 3 upgrade version
CPU VC882 Embedded 800MHz~1GHz ARM Cortex A8 32-bit processor core
I'm not sure of the exact make.
Is it really as simple as it seems on the youtube videos i.e install LauncherPro and select USB debugging option, then installing z4root, and that will be the device rooted?
Also, I downloaded the z4root.apk file on to my pc, but would I be better just downloading the .apk file straight on to the tablet via the browser rather than trying to transfer it from my pc?
Also, once installed, is it possible to upgrade the OS from 2.3 to a later version?
Sorry for the basic noobish questions, and thanks for any help you can give :good:

[Q] Android x86 Root exploit for Froyo

Hi Guys,
Had a look almost everywhere couldn't find anything, I have a viewsonic viewpad 10 I have the official froyo update, Its running a intel processor. Is there a root exploit i can run from terminal like "Rageagainstthecage" or something that will allow me to root this tablet? Usb connection wont work so i am doing it via terminal, can load fields to it over wifi just need to know if you can think of anyway via terminal to root this device. All exploits i have found so far have been for the ARM processor and wont run on x86.
Thanks.
Damn it... Really would be awesome with root, or at least a working market..
I looking for this too. in my hand is viewpad 10. I find this way to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
this way is not an apk that can be not compatible with x86. it go's by pc connected..
I can't check it - I don't have usb male-male cable... do you?
Bump

Perhaps this works ...
I would suggest, to follow the instructions, I discussed in [1] to establish a WiFi connection with your Android x86 device.
After I connected the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) I was able to run Android Dalvik Debug Monitor addm - maybe SuperOneClick will use the same trick (I have never tested it till yet).

Viewsonix V350 Dual-Sim need Root

Hello,
I can`t root my V350.
Many Apps need Root.
I read that the Muchtel A2 and the Viewsonic V350 are the same...
I have tried:
z4root 1.3
superoneclick 2.2.1
Can everybody help me?
Thx
Timer
any news?interested
i've tried gingerbreak. without succes
success with SuperOneClick1.7,
Really?
SuperOneClick1.7 runs with the V350?
Where can I load them?
What Settings?
install driver that you find inside the phone after plug-in
set oneclick on rageagainstcage
is enough
Cool,
that is it!
The 1.7 SU client is not up to date.
I have delete tham an install SU over the Market.
If you update SU over the Market, you can`t update the SU Binary.
Now runs Titanium & Co.....
Thats beautiful.
yes it easier updating superuser by titanium dedicated key
I can confirm that SuperOneClick 1.7 works on the CSL MI350 which is exactly the same as the ViewSonic V350.
Thank you all for the information.
Next step is to remove all the "unwanted" applications.
How to unroot? If need to send phone to service?
btw. have your fm-radio awful? My v350 fm-radio is not powerful. Even outside there is problem to hear radio clearly.
Another problem is that after my battery is dead and phone shuts down it doesn't mount my sd-card anymore. Sd-card will not mount even I erased it, with computer it works perfectly. Another sd works fine in v350.
Need also lagfix for v350
EDIT: so there is unroot on version 1.7 but not success with root. SuperOneClick freezes after waiting device... What to do?!? Tried rageagainstcage.
install drivers that you find connecting v350, then look for that into device
Yeap, drivers are already installed and I can see into phone in my computer...?
into your phone click on setup, and now you install the proper drivers so superoneclick works.
Yes, I have already done that. Maybe I need to rerun that setup. Could there be a problem with Windows 7 64-bit?
my success with win 7 64x
After resetup (with adm-mode) it works Finally I got Titanium backup and I removed viewsonic 3D and other useless apps thanks
Resetup with adm-mod?
What is it?
I install it that I was loged in as administor
How much RAM and ROM you have? It think that there would be 512MB ram and 512MB rom.
Still I got error message that internal memory is full even I have not lots of apps installed.
Android system info (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.electricsheep.asi&feature=search_result) says that max 423MB ram is avaible and only max 157MB rom. So is there something wrong? Only about 20MB rom is avaible in normal use...
What are your max. and free in rom and ram?
I would like to find something other than SuperOneClick. SOC was written using a micro$oft-only language, and after struggling with C# hacks (mono + various libraries) it would not even launch on linux.
BTW, UniversalAndroot does not work for the v350, according to the v350 wiki page (which I'm blocked from posting the URL to).
Any other options?

Few tips:
If you know exactly model of device, first search forum for section with this model and then read post abput rooting.
If you cant find model/models of tablet which you wanna learn to root or wanna ask that describe you procedure then change title to:" Need help to root this xxx(<--type here tablet model) "

First, I would try to install a program on it that need root, like Titanium Backup, and make certain it isn't rooted already. Some Chinese brands are not.

Ok... so anyone up for rooting a chinese tablet? Got a Colortab-MID that according to the android system app is manufactured by WonderMedia and has an ARMv7 chip. PC at first recognized as Samsung S but after downloading android apk for 4.0.3 it connects with adb. Superoneclik said it was roted but somehow I cannot get superuser on. Went into the shell with adb and cannot change to su nor can I ask to "remount" the system as rw.
Any ideas?

Well I doubt its rooted then. Can you do a "adb remount"? Without any extra tags.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Nope. Got a "remount failed: operation not permitted" error message
Installed from play store link2sd, superuser and root explorer. Of course root explorer does not mount rw so surely not rooted.
To append more information. I've already tried:
Unlock Root ver 3.0 - says failed to get shell root
DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su - basically says the same thing, it even asks if already root
Cube Root for ICS 4.0.3 - experimented for the heck of it with this script but no gain
185_root_script - Found that this is for GB apparently
SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse - this version is apparently the latest but again no gain
It seems that all find that shell root cannot be obtained or that adb remount does not happen

Ok, got the 10" tablet rooted
So. After crawling around for about 3 days with google, and in XDA and flashmyandroid forums I found something that works with my chinese tablet. Bloody thing doesn´t let me put links so I´ll tell you what and how I found the needed file.
The file I used is named "Android_Root_1.0.zip" and I found it by plugging in "root" "tablet" and "generic" in XDA forum search. There is a forum by the name "[Q] Obtaining root on generic tablet" in which post #25 has a link for the file.
Just make sure of the following:
1) That the tablet is charged, has off-market apps allowed and USB debugging selected
2) When the tablet connects you use the USB drivers supplied in the Android SDK (I used ver 20.0.1). How to use such drivers is especially important for these "generic" tablets, just follow the instructions in other posts for changing the drivers. My tablet was recognized as a Samsung Galaxy S by Win7, which of course it is not.
3) Download, extract the archive and double click on the *.bat file
**Make sure you always wait for the tablet to reboot before pressing keys as instructed**
4) Voilá, if all goes well you should have a rooted tablet.
Information of use to all crawlers:
Manufacturer: WonderMedia
Country: China
Model: ColorTab-MID (10" screen)
Processor: ARMv7 rev(0)
Android: 4.0.3
Bought in Mexico from a SuperFin sale (similar to a cyberMonday in the USA)
P.s. now I'm going to try with my wife's... same mfgr but with a 7" screen. Need to check the processor though.
Hey guys, I just bought a new model of a 7inch Genesis Tablet. The model is GT-7240. Do you think the method that is used to root another 7inch model of same brand would work for my GT-7240 without bricking risks?
Thanks in advance! I'm really looking forward to having my tablet rooted.

The process I described for rooting my 10" generic chinese tablet I followed exactly for my wife's 7" tablet and it worked. I think my wife's is a wm8950 based tablet that is arm cortex a8 while mine is a wm8850 which is arm cortex a9. Mind, the ICS is somewhat different in each one but both "rooted" correctly without much fuss.

Ok here goes what I remember of how it goes. You need to be able to access the tablet from your computer and being that it is a chinese one that means that you will need the Android SDK because it has the USB driver. First off you need to go to java (at their website) and download and install the JDK (java development kit which you can find at www dot oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html). Once that installation is finished you need to download the Android SDK (you can find it at developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) which is in zip format. Unzip and take note of the folder. Navigate to that folder and double click on the SDK manager file. When the window opens make sure that all Android 4.0.3 boxes are selected (under Android 4.0.3 section) as well as the boxes from Android SDK Tools, Android SDK Platform-tools Under tools section) and the Google USB driver (under extras). Once the software is downloaded and installed restart your pc (just to make sure that all is well).
On your tablet make sure that USB debugging is selected (under settings) and connect your tablet to the PC. Regardless of what happens you will need to change the drivers the PC uses to connect to those in what you downloaded. Go to control panel, hardware then hardware manager and look for the tablet... it either will have incorrectly assigned drivers (mine were Nexus S drivers) or it will have a ! meaning that no appropriate drivers were found. Right click on the assigned name and then click on update drivers. Follow prompts to update from disk and navigate to the USB folder you created under the Android SDK installation folder.
Once that is done then download the file I mentioned in the link above. It will come in a zip file so unzip and take note of the folder. Navigate to the folder and double click on the **.bat file. It might happen that you have a DOS error which says that it did not find ADB. You will have to add the ***\tools folder of the Android SDK installation folder to the system path in the environmental variables (if you don´t know how just follow the instructions in java.com/en/download/help/path.xml).
Be carefull to always wait for the tablet to restart and be "seen" by windows after each key press once you double clicked on the **.bat file. You can leave the Hardware Manager box open and keep on eye on the tablet appearing there.
So... were these pointers enough? LOL being a bit sarcastic. Have fun.

how to gain root access on android tv box

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

problem being i dont have a clue how to root device.
im not too bothered about installing new firmware or roms etc i just need to change one setting to allow write permission
please help
the device in question is android "wizz" made by chinavasion "cvji-e272"
it is the model that has the port for in styalling 2.5inch hdd.
android 4.2
cortex a7 dual core
1gb ram
1 ghz processor speed
thanks in advance
Rooting Android TV box
I think the TV boxes are already rooted. They are just like an Android tablet, minus the screen.
You just need to install superuser app and the file manager app (eg Total Commander) to enable you to change file permissions. Of course, it will help a lot if you connect up to a screen, keyboard and mouse.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Toshiba Excite Go AT7-C8 - how to install Linux?

Hi,
I hope this is the right place for my question.
I just bought the Toshiba Excite Go (AT7-C8) which has an Intel x86 processor and runs Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).
(Unfortunately I am not allowed to provide the link to the product page as a link, here a few specs:
Processor*Intel® Atom® Processor Z3735G (2MB Cache, Up to 1.83GHz)
Memory1GB (on board)
Storage*8GB eMMC
)
Since it has an x86 processor I was hoping I can install somehow a Linux system on this tablet. I would like to run some home automation applications (EIBD, Linknx and openHab) which I currently run on a Geode LX 800 system. I think this here is much more powerfull with nearly the same power consumption.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to do a Linux installation on such a Android based system. Did anyone already try this and may have a small tuturial?
Thanks a lot,
Ron
Nobody has an idea or hint?
Was someone able to get root access to this tablet?
I can't even move any app to the SD card.
I start to hate this tablet, as many applications are not available for it and I can't get a Linux system set up either ...
I would appriciate any suggestion.
Root
Hello
I found a universal method for tablets on Intel, but no one tested
