After i enter to CWM recovery, I choosed Install update from sd and choose root.zip but there are four option after that. All are NO.
How can I choose YES? When I choose NO, it back to previous state and at the top of all NO option, the sentence say " Can't mount SD"
What should I do?
Thanks for your confirm.

[Q] Upgrading to 3.2 from 3.1 ( 8.4.4.5 ) Rooted CWM

I'm really new to the Transformer and Rooting process. I have a rooted and CWM 3.1 ( 8.4.4.5 ) Transformer , how would I go about to update to 3.2 rooted and CWM ?
I've looked around on the forums and I don't see any (clear) instructions for it and most of the post have a few people that accidentally bricked their Transformer. I know that most people also managed to recover it pretty easy if they brick their TF , but if someone can kindly hold my hand it would be awesome.
Many thanks ....
Go here, it has the 3.2 rooted ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190877
-download and put the file on your micro sd card
-boot into CWM recovery and chose "install zip from sd card"
-choose zip from sd card
-flash the zip
-reboot

Thanks baseballfanz , I saw that thread earlier but it said for 8.4.4.11 US but I'm on 8.4.4.5. Would this work ? I've just read through the thread and it doesn't look like anyone was on 8.4.4.5
Probably no easy way to get the .11 update.
My best solution (albeit long-winded) is this:
Backup your apps with Titanium Backup (or similar)
Copy those backups off /mnt/sdcard to /Removable/MicroSD (or you WILL lose them)
NVFlash Stock 3.1 (this will be the same version you're currently on)
Boot up and you should get either the .11 update or the 3.2 update OTA
Use the 3.2 root method in the download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
Restore your apps
EDIT: I've just done all the above and it took about an hour (had 200+ apps to backup and restore)

I am noob here and just follow mashi's post to root my 3.1 a few days ago. However I didn't do the step 6 (last step) in his post since I don't know what CWM is at that moment. Now I notice Roach2010's method need to use CWM. Can anyone tell me where I can download the latest CWM update from this forum and install it with Mashi's method? And once this is down, i can simply use ROM manager to flash with the 3.2 rooted ROM, right?
Edit: I just realized the other day when I root my TF, I went through all the following post under Mashi's method and update the recovery.img file. So I am not sure if the step 6 is still needed (update CWM). Is there a way to check if CWM is installed with latest update in my TF?
Here is the step 6 in Mashi's post:
STEP 6. Update CWM recovery!! You will need a microSD card
6a. Go over to the CWM thread and download latest version of CWM recovery
6b. Place that downloaded .zip (DO NOT UNPACK) on your microSD card
6c. power TF off, then hold voume down + power button, when you see white writing in the top left of the screen press volume up and you should now bee in CWM recovery. Use volume up/down to move through the options and power button to select.
6d. Scroll down to "Install zip from sdcard" press power button then select "Choose zip from sdcard" and now it should list what is on your microsd, Scroll down and select the .zip you downloaded (as of this writing latest version is named recovery-3.1.0.1-solarnz-R3-240511-1908.zip)
6e. Follow instructions on screen, should be straightforward. And now your CWM is updated!

To reboot into recovery, do this:
Power off TF
Hold the volume down key and then the power key together for about 3-5 seconds
Some white text will appear in the top left of the screen
Within 5 seconds, press the volume up key
You should now be in recovery mode
If you have flashed CWM (ClockWorkMod recovery) it should be obvious (look for the name somewhere. The default version is 3.0.something.something. This has the unfortunate side affect of blowing away your /mnt/sdcard which is actually part of /data if you do a factory reset/wipe.
The updated CWM (3.1.0.1) has a fix for that and is HIGHLY recommended

Thanks jhanford. I followed your instructions to boot into recovery, then flash the updated CWM 3.1.0.1. However when I want to do the same (reboot into recovery and flash the rooted 3.2) the screen stop at "Booting Recovery Kernal image" and didn't go to the menu. Was confuse how this could happen. Right now i reboot normally and get into the GUI. Should I try to use ROM manager to reboot into recovery? I don't know what goes wrong here.

I press vol+ as soon as I saw the white text on the screen. Definitely within 1 or 2 seconds.

[Q] Root my xoom ?

I just bought a second hands xoom , I really had bad luck because my device reboots itself automaticaly too often
it's about a MZ601 3G 32g. of course I can't find the seller back in my life ...
OS 3.2
build number H.6.5-17-3
Kernel 2.6.36.3
I don't know my xoom belongs to which country . I would like to root it
Becasue I've heard it might be helpfull .
I 'm really an newbie !
Can someone help me out ?
Best Regards
Kevin
The MZ601 is the MOTO/EU/umts_everest 3G: 3.2/H.6.5-17-1 GSM (means you can use any SIM card in your device, you can send and receive SMS)
You first need to install Android SDK, Here is a link to the ADB Tutorial.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/adb-easy-tutorial/
Instructions assuming that you have successfully installed the Android SDk -
(solarnz)
1. Downloading the rooting-update zip file.
Download the zip file from here - http://goo.gl/Om9aP
Now place this on your external sdcard. - Sorry this is a requirement at the moment, like I said this is a bit rushed.
2. Flashing recovery
1. Download this Recovery image. http://bit.ly/iLRAIV (place this image in you SDK PlatformTools Folder, or which ever folder that contains your adb.exe)
2. If your device is locked, now is a good time to unlock it.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
3. Flash recovery
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power.
Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
4. Flashing the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file.
If you're in clockwork mod recovery you can continue (This recovery image will say it is clockwork mod) . If you're not looking at clockwork mod, then you need to repeat step 3 again.
In cwm, go into "install zip from sdcard" -> "Choose zip from sdcard", then select the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file you downloaded.
Note: use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select
Reboot your device and then welcome to your rooted device!

Thx so much I've root my device now .
I've one extra icon calls superuser ??? What can i do with it ?
What is now difference between a normal and an root device ?
What do I have more possiblilitie with rooted device ?
best regards
Kevin
Is this method workable in 4.0.3 or even freshly released 4.0.4?
@Kevin
superuser gives you access to your device settings and all files.
Install root explorer, and you can browse your system files, but be very careful.
With root you can customize you xoom.
To find out more on what root access can do for you, use google to search,
this would not be the place for that. After you get a better understanding of the
root process, browse this forum for Modifications and what not.
Now you gotta find a ROM that fits your taste. You can start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459641
Make sure you Flash the GAPPS directly after you flash your new ROM, then reboot. There are many ROMS to choose from in this forum. Find the one that fits your device and your needs. Welcome to the Dark Side my Friend!

Yes you can root your device on stock 4.0.3 using this method. From there find a 4.0.4 ROM to your taste and flash it in CWM recovery. (If you are using a XOOM) I prefer the EOS 4.0.4 ROM which is their Nighty Builds. You can find the Xoom EOS Nightly ROMs that fits you device by searching the Forum.

P6210 install CWM & ROOT HELP

i just updated my GT-P6210 to ICS and want to install CWM & ROOT the device so i have now the Android factory System (3e) recovery so i found this Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379532 saying
Boot into recovery mode.
If the recovery version banner is "CWM-based Recovery v5.x.x.x", then you already have a version of CWM installed and should skip ahead to the proper section. If the banner is "Android system recovery (3e)", then you have the factory recovery and should continue with...
Installing from factory (3e) recovery:
Use the volume up/down buttons to move the highlight up and down, and the power button to select the highlighted option.
1. Select "apply update from external storage"
2. Select the file you placed on your storage card (starts with "p6210_CWMR".)
3. Sit back and watch it run. Read the information that is being sent to the screen. If there's an error, it'll display some message. If it works, it'll display a message starting with the word "Done!"
4. Select "reboot system now."
You now have a CWM-based recovery installed, and your tablet is rooted.
Please skip ahead to "Finishing SuperUser installation"
so i went through the steps and got E:signature verification failed for both files

i just updated my GT-P6210 to ICS and want to install CWM & ROOT the device so i have now the Android factory System (3e) recovery so i found this Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379532 saying

I am using the P6200 but i was having a similar issue yesterday.
How i solved it was doing a re-stock to ICS and installing the CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip file in the stock recovery, meaning it might be better to root before you install CWM, Also the App SuperSU app from the market, once this is done.. proceed to install CWM..
This was how i managed to get it going. This worked on the P6200
This is development, not a help section.
Iam sure, someone and me will help you in correct section!!!
And if you would have read a bit here, you would have noticed that almost EVERYONE had this problem after ics upgrade... !!
Search by yourself before asking dumb questions

There's an easier way.
First, obtain root by the method in this thread, which can be done using stock recovery. I did this on my GT-P6210 (wi-fi only, not from T-Mobile, so don't worry about that).
Second, get the newer and better CWM Recovery from this thread, where aorth recommends using Heimdall to flash, but I (and a lot of others) had trouble getting Heimdall to work, so I ended up buying Mobile Odin from the Play store and using it to flash. It worked perfectly. Now I have rooted ICS with CWM Recovery.
@Bad2hold: I feel your comments are uncalled for. There's so much info on here that it's not always easy to tell what's old, what's new, and what applies to your exact situation. Why not be helpful instead?
Yeah, general is better than development section, so here ya go:
Easiest way is to do exactly what you have described above, but using temporary cwm instead of 3e. (Links in the quote)
(Actually the easiest and fastest is the heimdall way but it needs some reading and drivers)
ROOT AFTER ICS UPDATE
Flash with heimdall. Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508703
Code: heimdall flash --recovery recovery.img
Use aorth's img version from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29077817
And rename to recovery or type full file name instead of recovery.img
Than flash root+supersu from recovery. flashable zips here:
http://goo.im/superuser and that root.zip what u already have
Or use this method here with temporary cwm touch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28689474
Confirmed working but only temporary cwm with that way.

this is a working root for ICS
- Download these 2 files ( CWM.zip and root.zip ) and put in your SDCARD:
- Reboot to recovery: (Hold Volume Up+Power till it reboot to recovery)
- Choose apply update from external storage.
- Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
- Once the cwm recovery appear: Touch the screen to choose and navigate the options
* This cwm recovery is only temporary cwm recovery.
Once you had install the cwm recovery, navigate and;
- Choose install zip from sdcard.
- Choose zip from sdcard.
- Choose root.zip ;and Yes - Install root.zip.
- Once done, choose reboot system now.
* Your device is rooted without permanent cwm recovery: If you don't need cwm recovery. You can stop at here.
You will find superuser app in your drawer

If u need permanent cwm, use aorths, linke on top, just flash with mobile odin available for free here on xda) by renaming his file to recovery.img
Or search a flashable zip and also flash it via temp. Cwm

Question: Is miracast still working for those that have rooted? I read that the Samsung Galaxy S3s had problems with miracast after rooting.
Hi
I successfully installed TWRP with Odin, then i want to apply the root update from recovery, i used this one :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wjye1yssb5ksbfa/ROOT_SGT3_8.0.zip
I copy it to my sdcard then boot into recovery and select "apply update from external storage" and choosed the zip file
TWRP says "error to verify the whole file signature" during install but seems to install the content.
After reboot i installer "Super SU" from market to check if it works but Super SU tells me that Su binary is not installed.
Can anyone help me please ?
Thx

you aren't rooted! Don't select apply update.zip, choose install then navigate to the root_sgt3_8.0.zip you put on your sdcard and swipe to install
also you may want to uninstall superuser first to avoid any issues, the root file you flash will install it for you

Thanks but i don't have this option, i can only update form ADB, external storage, wipe data or cache or apply update from cache
Maybe TWRP isn't really installed ? Odin finishes with "PASS!"
When i try to boot into recovery, i first have a message saying "No command" (Aucune commande in french) and the title is "Android system recovery 3e"

Sounds like you have stock recovery still, I assumed that since you were in this twrp thread that you at least had twrp recovery installed....silly me!! If that's the case you need to start with step 1 installing a custom recovery. And you really should create a new thread over in help and trouble shooting, that is, after you read up on installing a recovery.
